I'll be honest, I switched because I get better search results from DuckDuckGo than from Google. Not perfect because SEO is still a thing, but at least it's not focused on them and what works for Google and Bing doesn't necessarily work on others nearly as well.I've used DuckDuckGo and I've come to enjoy it. Nevertheless, having a unified experience, regardless of browser or behind-the-scenes Javascript-fu, really matters in an online gallery showcasing art.
Everyday the market asks, "Well, what can we do with Daz?" and the answer lies in the Daz Gallery. Proof in the pudding. Now, do we want to detract from the marketing message? Do we want people to associate Daz Studio with other products -- toe fungus remedies! Will we see the samewise on the daz3d.com landing page?
Please, no cheer here! Ads begone.

Gallery Ads/PopupsAbsolutely ridiculous. Now I will never even visit the gallery, never mind posting anything. Is that really the result Daz wanted?

I'm not having any luck with this converter. I had no problem with the G8->G9 hair converters. I've tried three hairs so far: Matt hair, Agent hair, and Adam hair. The converted Matt hair loads mid face on G9, Agent hair loads at around the belly button of the figure, and Adam hair loads away from the figure at around lower leg level. In watching the converter, the hairs appear to load in the correct place when processing, but when the script switches to save the hair moves to the location where it is loading. I don't have enough time atm to give further specifics, but will try a few things when I've got more time and then post if I've got it working or supply screen shots. I'm using Daz Studio 4.22.0.15, so I should be good in that regard.
Please get back to me when you have more time. Someone else had problems with Agent hair, so it might just be one that the converter struggles with. I will say that Daz is slow at updating the display so what you are seeing is not necessarily what is happening. I have had a hair look awful in the conversion because the display could not catch up to what is happening, and then look great when converted.
We are working on an update to fix the dForce hair conversion issues. For other hair, I would appreciate a log (and if you tried to convert it twice. Errors can accumulate and converting twice, without deleting the data files, can cause issues).
Will do. It will be another day or two where I can devote more time. I played around with it for a little today and am noticing a possible trend. I've only converted a handful so far and having better results with short hair being changed to regular hair, but that is also producing hair that needs the conversion morph dialed in at -100% in order to fit.
I can say that Bastien and Akira hairs converted with no issue.
FYI In the converter for G8 hair to G9 hair, the Regular Hair conformer works far better than any of the others. The others cause me problems like bald spots on the top of the head. If I understand correctly, SY created some improved conformers that did not make it into the update package for that product. So I assume those will be included in the next update. We are also waiting for a fix to the problem that no dForce hair will simulate after conversion.
RSA and SY work hard to make their products satisfy customers, so I'm looking forward to the next update. It always amazes me how RSA can keep all these product details in his head to answer forum questions. I sure do appreciate PAs who provide this level of support after the purchase. That is pretty rare around here.Thank you @Barbult! I really appreciate the kind words.

I broadly agree with your points. Daz taught me how to shop here with their sales and policies. So, I don't feel bad shopping here the way I do and Daz doesn't mind taking my money. I assume the artists get paid. So, It's all win-win, really.
Well, this was today's news on the Phillip DeFranco Show (start @ 3:15)
It's really already too late... so I appreciate our lovely PA's for as long as we have them.

In Firefox, I clicked on two members. Ad-Blocker says 8 pesky somethings nixed when I go to gallery. At forum goes to zero again. Someone is paying money to try to sell me things I'll never see. Even if I did, wouldn't buy them because they'd be annoying. Unfortunately, I doubt marketing cares. DIM might be good example. Those orange banners. "Welcome to the latest DIM), the DAZ Installation Marketing! Save 30% by typing, 'Impulsive_Act_Now!' "
I suspect they're licking purple Peruvian tree frogs, again or maybe just accidental alkaloid poisoning. The frogs were in the vending machine...
Corporate-speak may follow.
"DAZ is aware of the situation and is closely monitoring events."
Meaningless but hopefully looks nice and official. ; )
That one opens the door for all the others. Been blocking it for years. I don't miss it.

1. Dear PAMAWO... You ABSOLUTELY deserve to be paid for your work and have every right to place value on it. Please, don't let forum complaints burden your mind too much.

2. Dear Forum... I love you guys but sometimes I don't understand you. Artists in every realm are facing very real threats to their hard work and perceived value due to things like AI and a sporadic and unpredictable economy. You KNOW this... I genuinely feel sad when I think about a day when this all disappears. When it no longer becomes viable for creators to create for us "hobbyists". Let's not rush it, eh?
Sincerely and all my love, etc..
Product SearchI have lost a set I used, and can't seem to relocate it.
It would have to be from a purchase on Daz or Renderosity.
Does anyone recognize this product? (attachments)
...have a name or location? (assuming it's still available.)
(The set in the attchments, is reshaded, of course. The consoles are the main feature.)

That is pretty rare around here.DAZ, A Bundle is NOT "ALL-NEW" if 98% of it has been sold at another storeHello,
As a general rule, I don't usually participate in forum discussions as my English isn't very good, and I prefer to let debates unfold since everyone has their own opinions. However, this time, I feel the need to intervene because I find some of the comments unacceptable. There's talk of denigrating the work of content creators for DAZ.
Cybersox, No, it's not just about "minor differences" or a simple adjustment to fit a new version. If I had simply used the "auto-fit" function in DAZ Studio, the product wouldn't be at this level of quality or price. It wouldn't even have been offered for Genesis 9! It would have remained compatible with Genesis 8.
Contrary to what you might think, this represents considerable work. Just go into the product's DATA folder to see a specific geometry for G9. Yes, the garment has been completely remade for G9, with the challenge of replicating it exactly, but in reality, this involves an entirely new retopology. It's not just an adaptation from Genesis 8 to Genesis 9; it's truly a garment designed for G9. It's not just a change in silhouette but a transformation of morphology and even size. You must have noticed that G9 rigging is different, for example, splines 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
Countless hours of work are invested in these creations, with the additional challenge of replicating them identically. It's also important to understand the quality requirements imposed by DAZ. The no-return policy for product defects is a priority at DAZ. I can assure you that product presentation tests are rigorous, in the interest of buyer satisfaction. Some elements of the vignette have been redesigned and optimized, such as the bed, the walls, etc. This is true for this vignette and for the sci-fi room as well. (where even decorative elements like computers, armchairs, books, and even pizza boxes have been revisited.)
Cybersox, I find that your remarks greatly underestimate the work of PA. Moreover, you say that the product is expensive... Try to find a complete set for G9 at $11 including textures and jewelry accessories. On the contrary, I believe that PA (and I'm not just speaking about myself) provide remarkable and high-quality work that is unfortunately sometimes underestimated. All work deserves pay, and your remarks, Cybersox, seem to downplay the importance of this investment in time and talent, which, believe me, is real work and not just entertainment or a hobby.
Merci
Patrick / PAMAWO
What happened to the 'weekly' freebies? Thanks to everyone who responded. I had forgotten about search the main page, low to high, for them. Take care, all, and have a great week.
How could I have DAZ Hair Strands converting to Blender? It depends on the hair. For rigged hair you can use in blender the same extra bones you have in daz. For dforce hair you will have to use simulation in blender, that's possible for particles hair with some limitations, and not possible with curves hair yet, unless you use a complex node setup. These are blender limitations and beyond the purpose of the addon, you may find better help on this topic on a specific blender forum as blender artists for example.
As you noted yourself, at the time being in blender it is much easier to animate hair cards than particles or curves. Luckily you can always convert to cards with: object > convert > mesh.

There are many, many visual novels (dozens, if not hundreds) that use Daz assets and use Daz Studio for rendering and animating. A small number of them use Daz assets but render in Blender, and some are even migrating to Unity to render their scenes.
The quality of these indie games ranges from absolutely awful, to surprisingly good. And the vast majority of them are definitely adults-only. Once again, there is a huge range in quality. Obviously, some are just straight-up porn, but some have stories that are fantastic if you don't mind some explicit content. One of them is the only game that has ever made this normally grumpy guy cry like a little girl. I'm glad that some of these games have begun to be released on Steam over the past year or two, but most are patreon funded.I consider myself to be fortunate to be able to count a few of these game developers as friends. The reason I created the Dirty Dishes products was because I was tired of seeing dinner scenes that consisted of untouched full meals on plates, followed by perfectly clean plates, with no evidence of people eating anything in between. I owe my existence as a PA to my game dev friends who enthusiastically encouraged me to submit my food assets to the store. It gives me joy to see my products in some of these games.
I won't link anything here, but if you're curious to see what some folks do with Daz assets, search youtube for Leap of Faith by drifty games (the chapter 8 trailer is fun), or for U4IA (also by drifty games), Where It All Began intro by Ocean, or the City of Broken Dreamers trailer by Philly games, or the Artemis trailer by digi.B. Will they stack up versus AAA studios with literally hundreds of developers? Of course not. But I'm amazed what they can achieve as one-person indie developers.and I thank you for those dirty dishes, they are very useful for use in comics as well for the same reason

Yes, that is an excellent one. I use it frequently. Here is another good one that works differently. I think it was the first one that was available for G8 to G9. It was posted in the forum before being available elsewhere. I've used it successfully for hierarchical pose presets.

That manual is about as effective as I would expect from Blender. It has everything you need to know to use Blender if you already know everything you need to know to use Blender.
So, a typical software manual. Good technical writers are hard to find.
