Daz studio 4.22 Renders looks different from the Daz 4.16?
Thanks shedofjoy. I'll check if I have 4.22.016 or 4.2. I do also have 4.21 back up and will do check it too. And like you mentioned I guess you have to accept minor lightning changes with the latest version whether you like it or not. And for your crashing problem did you try some of the fixes here on the forum?
Good day to you.
Contacting an artist??Oftentimes the PAs have websites elsewhere. If you need to file a complaint you use the help here at DAZ and submit your post. If you want to hire a PA to create a custom product, find their website and submit there. I have done both and each resulted in a a fast response. Their time is valuable. Typically I contact DAZ for product issues/inquiries pertaining to purchases, the forum for tips product requests, and PAs for commissioned custom products.

I wanted to add for the developers and others here that DAZ studio (latest General Release) continues to cause a blue screen:
PC Specs: 18 cores/36 threads, 128GB RAM, 3090 Graphics Card, Studio loaded on SSD. Windows 10 (up to date, with all required updates installed), I have NEVER had HEAT installed and confirmed it isn't on my Studio now.
Steps tried:
1. Three different NVIDIA drivers: 551.76, 551.61 and 546.17
2. Scanned my PC for viruses (Kaspersky and Windows Defender), drives are clean
3. No other Apps using Iray/Ray tracing open and open while using Daz
Symptoms:
1. Blue screen while in Iray preview mode: Kernel_Check_Violation, Driver_IRQL, Memory Access Violation
2. DAZ is slower depending on the driver used but with ALL drivers DAZ is slower with the latest version
Context:
1. No other system changes or driver changes/updates
2. DAZ with Iray Preview is the common thread here.... HEAT was never installed (not interested in it) and confirmed it isn't in my Studio now
3. Older versions of the NVIDIA drivers seem to be faster for DAZ but overall DAZ has been noticeably slower since the update.
Next Steps:
1. Revert to an older version of DAZ
2. Before I do that, see if I can get a stack from Windows on the crashes
Blue screens are generally driver or hardware issues. How are your temperatures? Are the fans spinning sensibly?
1. I understand why you'd say that and it is a driver crashing but it only happens when using Daz with Iray Preview. I have eliminated the driver issue by installing other versions of the video driver (see my post) my video card and temps are just fine and work in all other 3d applications I use: Blender, Adobe Substance Paint, Marvelous designer. It also works fine in the video games I play; some involving ray tracing... so the card is getting a regular workout and all metrics are within standard parameters. As I said in my post, I haven't done any other driver updates and everything was fine on the last version.
While that isn't proof that the latest version of Daz Studio is causing the issue, it can't be ruled out since others were having crashes with the latest release.
I will be looking at the event log and BSOD files later for whatever I can glean from them. If they prove it is the video driver that caused it, and it happens with multiple drivers, and only when using Daz. Then I think that will then warrent some acknowledgment of the possibile relationship between the latest release and it's implementation of the driver.
I'll report back if I find anything.
All the errors on event viewer are Nvidia Container related:
1. 000000f3 Graphics Exception: ESR 0x5357b0=0x0 0x5357b4=0x20 0x5357a8=0xc81eb60 0x5357ac=0x1174
2. 000000f3 Graphics SM Global Exception on (GPC 6, TPC 1, SM 1): Multiple Warp Errors
3. 000000f3 Graphics SM Warp Exception on (GPC 6, TPC 1, SM 1): Out Of Range Address
You get the idea :)
DAZ logs don't show any errors but warnings... nothing that hasn't been mentioned on this forum before.
Steps taken:
1. Given that there are so many container errors I went ahead and ran DDU Uninstaller to get rid of all NVIDIA drivers and downloaded the latest studio drivers (per the reccomendation on ther forums here). I'll report back if I find anything else worth mentioning.
2. Validated I am not running any overclock on the CPU (not that I have touched that for a LONG while) but worth a check. Also, validated GPU/CPU temps are normal under load in other apps. No crashes or slowness in those apps.
Context:
1. No crashes since earlier today when I was using DAZ iray preview and it happened I first posted here. I haven't been using DAZ since the crash today. If the driver cleanup/fresh install changes anything I will let you know.
2. Event log shows no other driver related errors causing BSOD
Have you tried rolling back to the driver version that is the minimum listed (which is presumably the one that nVidia most thoroughly tested with Iray, or thereabouts)?
I figured it out!
First - @Richard Haseltine I wanted to thank you for trying to assist me and for all the patience you show on these forums; I don't usually come here unless I am frustrated and out of ideas
. I realize that's a lot of folks, so you I wanted to let you know that your communication with us is greatly appreciated!
Background - Daz has been getting slower and slower for me. With each subsequent release of DAZ Studio I have seen the speed go down. I hadn't seen it with other applications which is why I attributed it to DAZ. This performance degradation, withrespect to DAZ releases, been going on for almost 2 years now. Other apps and games seemed to be fine and I wasn't experiencing any major issues. Hopefully, you'll agree my assumption, while flawed, was understandable. Then came the latest release of DAZ Studio and then the crashing started. My blue screens didn't relate to the HEAT plugin issue but some folks had reported locking up and some crashing. When I confirmed I didn't ever install HEAT or have it installed now I blamed the latest release on the crashes. Again, nothing else has been causing my PC to blue screen, every other app seemed to work normally and stability was fine unless I was using DAZ.
Attempted Fixes -
- I tried multiple different Drivers from NVIDIA.
- I checked my memory (mem test)
- I made sure windows 10 was up to date
- Review of Windows System and Event Logs
- Virus scanning
The symptoms persisted: Progressively slower DAZ and eventual blue screen
The Actual Fix - In my review of the Windows System Logs I noticed the NVIDIA driver was crashing, causing the BSOD. Again, at this point I blamed DAZ because it only happened when I used DAZ. I stumbled across a forum that talked about a dedicated uninstaller for NVIDIA by a company called Wagnard. The free tool is reccomended on NVIDIA's website and just to make sure I eliminated all the variables and could prove something was wrong with the latest DAZ release; I ran it. The tool isn't user friendly so make sure to read the guide on it. You can do a lot of damage with it so be warned!!! It completely removes ALL components of the NVIDIA driver install from your system. After I did that and re-installed the latest studio driver from NVIDIA's site, everything is working! Not only that but Studio is REALLY FAST now. I trusted NVIDIA to write a compotent installer that completely removes the old drivers when it does an update but now I know that isn't the case!
Conclusion - One, don't trust NVIDIA to remove all of their driver artifacts cleanly... they apparently don't know how to do that consistently. If you are experience slowness with DAZ Studio or Crashes, un-related to the HEAT issue, then get the DDU uninstaller from Wagnard and read the manual before proceeding! Two, DAZ studio has been getting a lot of guff from me but hopefully you can see how the evidence I had up until this point led me to the wrong conclusion. Three, not sure how much this helped but also take a look at this setting in Windows: Hardware-accelerated GPU performance. I have no idea and little confidence that it helped improve anything, I changed it at the same time I ran the DDU Driver cleanup tool. I think the issue was squarely on NVIDIA not cleaning up their drivers correctly when you update it but it is worth a look.
Thanks for reporting the fix, I have used DDU one or twice in the past but had forgotten about it this time round.
New Daz 3D 'Safe Search' FilterAt the beach we see guys in typical shorts or swim trunks. Kids see them. The mature content is less provacative in most cases than a pair of shorts. Who is monitoring the use of these filters. Or, are they like the forum ads, unmonitored, meaning some may be off-putting . . . some may be not.
Edit: If DAZ can do a mature filter why can't a a license filter exist for products we paid for yet cannot find such as interactive licenses and 3D print? How selective is that? Please people who browse versus displease customers who buy? I don't get the logic.
Edit: Is customer retention not valued?
Issues with store searching for certain wordsIt's a known issue that if your search term matches a product's name exactly, then only that one product will appear as a result.
Issues with store searching for certain wordsI am noticing some oddity when I am trying to search for certain products related to barbaian theme, not sure if this is somehow related to new filter rules.
I searched for "barbarian" using the main store page and I get a single product as a result, i know there are way more products that should show up.
Then i search for "barbarian barbarian" and now I get 5 pages or results with various products - all more or less related.
I have now started to test various words and see same issue for words like "barbaric", "fight", "princess" and "mercedes" so far.

I haven't watch the later group of Star Wars movies, but based on my memories of the first group, Ep. 4 - 6, I found in my runtime some options that may either give clothing for background characters (non-Jedi) or possibilities for Jedi robes with work. Unfortunately, most of my best ones were in the M3/M4 clothing and I am not listing them. Many were for females, but could work on males.

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-dawn-warrior-outfit-for-genesis-8-males and https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-dawn-warrior-outfit-textures (not as flowy as you are looking for, but if matched up with a cloak from Sshodan or another PA...?)
There are the laser sword thingies in Daz's store, so I am sure you have them but this is the latest I have: https://www.daz3d.com/laser-swords-and-poses-2-for-genesis-3-and-8
Unfortunately, flowing outfits for the guys seem to be scarce. I thought I had more Asian style robes, but couldn't track them down except one that is wrong for your purpose and exploded everytime I tried to use it. Maybe other folks on the forum knows of good options here or on Rendo that will work as Jedi robes.
I do know that good shader packs have been coming out that would fix any fabric issues even if the colors are wrong.

Yeah, well I just took the time and fixed up the Jedi outfit from Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) game.
But thanks for the suggestions... even tho I use G9 now

It's a good idea but the bar is far, far, far too low, and consequently it's an annoying barrier to browsing the site. It also means PAs that don't want to be blocked must make useless previews which must surely affect sales, as will blurring content.
Maybe they set will see sense and turn it off again. Hopefully anyway!

How do you Search the Product Library for Licenses? Solved . . . Sort of . . .How do you search the Product Library for Licenses. Do you have any successful results when searching for 3D Printing or Interactive Licenses in the Product Library? Despite owning multiple 3D Licenses & Interactive Licenses, my Product Library search results only reveals the Indie Game Developer License I purchased back in March of 2017. I have purchased Interactive Licenses from PAs, none of which show up in any type of filtered search I make. I've tried DAZINT, 3d, license, interactive etc. NADA. I do have a spreadsheet that documents every item per invoice, and I do keep a folder for 3D Licenses, but in order to find licenses in the Product Library, I have to hunt down some other product that shares the same invoice number, filter a search for that unrelated product, click the invoice link (because an invoice number filtered search does not work) to find any licenses listed in the itemized invoice. Finding ones that came free with Pro Bundles involves manually tracking down the invoice where it can be found as unclickable link. Is a filtered search within the Product Library for purchased 3D Print or PA Interactive Licenses even possible? If not, why not?

Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadmemcneil70 said:
@barbult, I went back to the hair, loaded it up on a character and checked again. The option Simulation shows in Parameters and Simulation Object Type = Dynamic Surface; Simulation Base Shape = Use Simulation Start Frame. I am not sure if this is pertinent, the fields Include Parent Groups and Exclude Parent Groups are both blank wherever they show up. The selection 'Pre Sim (PS) = Generate PS Hair = On.
I may be totally confused, not hard to be, but it reads to me as dForce. You are correct that the promo pages do not list dForce Cloth under Compatible Software. (I have given up looking for that normally because it is so cluttered with the bridges to programs I don't use.) This wouldn't be the first hair I thought was dForce that turned out not to be.
Since this is a DO hair, could those fields been left over from another hair and not cleared out when the hair was submitted by whomever created and sold it to DAZ?
I don't know the answers to any of this. Sorry.
I once submitted a help request about Seok hair (by Propschick) that had simulation settings but failed to simulate. The response from CS, after months of back and forth, was that the hair was created with dForce but was not intended to be simulated.
Another user in the forum complained about simulation errors from Jeanie Hair. Another user complained about Atlas Hair and another about Cassyus hair. All of those hairs are by Propschick. You can reference this old thread. Then there is Emberlynn hair, which is advertised as dForce, but has bald spots and thin spots that make it pretty useless. Emberlynn is another Propschick hair. You can reference this old thread. I also submitted a help request about that problem. After 7 months, there has been no fix, although CS acknowledged the problem. The hair you bought is listed as Daz Originals, not Propschick, but it appears to have the issues of many Propschick hairs."Mature Content" images blurredSilent Winter said:

This is ridiculous. They are calling outfits that cover more than a bathing suit at the beach "mature content." First they start putting outfits on mannequins and cover up a lot of characters' bodies so we can't even see what we're buying and now this? If they are going to put these dumb labels and we check the box saying we want mature content, can we now see outfits on textured bodies and see the characters nude?
I believe this is the plan - that we can now show outfits on characters properly without needing mannequins, and that otherwise disallowed character texture details can now be shown. Obviously there's a little teething problem with some images being marked 'mature' when they're not but the usefulness of this filter outweighs the occasional hiccup IMO. Of course, this will only affect promos going forward - older mannequined images are there to stay.
Edit: It goes beyond nudity too - reasonable displays of violence and blood can now be in promos if they help show off a product (so not just gratuitous for the sake of it) like a pose-set or a blood texture/prop set, among other stuff.
Did this change recently then? I thought they did it ages ago and I lost the setting.
On these points, for genuinely mature content, I'd agree 100% that this is sensible. It saves potential embarrasment apart from anything else. But is there actually a single image on this entire site that anyone considers mature, at least from a nudity perspective? There is nothing I would feel bothered about browsing in public, and nothing I would care about children seeing, because they see the same things day in day out in pictures, in adverst, and on real people.
Is this really, honestly offensive to anyone???

But if we can lose the grey manequins that stop you seeing the products, then it's a step in the right direction.
Please take a look at the Renderosity implementation (where there is genuinely mature content). I don't have to come on the forum to find an obscure setting, or ask your overworked support team. I click on a "Show Mature Content" button on the image. A bit more discoverable...
But more importantly, the decision is surely based on where I am, not a "set once"? I don't want topless pictures on the train, I don't care at home. Again, the Renderosity implementation is a lot better in that regard. Although since the content isn't mature, it's probably better that every user of the site sets it once and forgets about it...

Hmm. Problem. I made a few simple items for G9. Includes a dress, a top, and a skirt. But it has been a while since I tried using G9 in Carrara. It is not posing. I saved it as a character preset. The conformed clothing is adopting the pose that is appliedtothe G9. I present it in wireframe mode for forum TOS. See the dress adopt the pose? The pose is from the Daz Original base poses for G9.
Did you convert G9 to Blended Weight in DAZ Studio ?
EDIT - Wendy beat me to the draw !

Furious over 93799 Sci-Fi Add On Bundle - Why? Please ReadHello All,
This is mainly a vent or a rant because this isn't the first time this happened to me, but it is a poor selling tactic. The first time it happened was with a artist selling an item, but this time this is a Daz product.
Okay, so I purchased item #93799, which is the Sci-Fi Fan Art Add-On Bundle. Being a huge fan of Star Trek, I figured this was a must have. So I purchased it. Of course, I went through everything starting with the character add-ons, and those were fine. However, when I got to the ship it wouldn't properly load. It kept saying that some items were missing. So naturally I think there is something wrong with the package. So I was ready to write to technical support about it, but I tried the other ship based packages today and they all had errors saying items are missing. I said to myself that can't be because why would they release a bundle with so many issues.
So after a bit more digging and pulling up the individual items I look in the requirements section, and each one of the ship based items is just an Add on. So I am here wide eyed about this because if you click on the bundle, in the requirements section it says: Genesis 9 Starter Essentials:
https://forum.daz3d.com/sci-fi-fan-art-bundle
Now if you go down to the decription. NO WHERE does is it say that it requires the individual NCS items.
Not for nothing, when you release an item like this and that it doesn't include a required item for it to work, SAY SO!
Yeah, now, I know that one might argue that the package says ADD-ON, but not to what. The skins and face shapes work fine given that it does tell you that it is for Genesis 9 and that you need the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials. BUT, there is NO mention of the required ship items. I only found out that you need each individual NCS package by clicking on the individual items and reading it's requirements.
Not for nothing, but that is a poor way to advertise a product and I am NOT happy about it, especially given the cost of the product.
There should be a paragraph right at the beginning, in addition to what is needed under "requirements", stating that the NCS product line is needed for ship add-ons to work.
Needless to say, I am quite disappointed. So yeah, I am going to return the package.
Just my 2 cents.
