Did you use Emmission on the Fog? If so, turn Emissions off.
You mean like an emissive ghost light? The fog is not a selectable object so it's not something I can toggle emissions on or off...
I have my ghost lights, and the environment itself has a few emissive objects like switches and the like, but yeah there's no way for me to actually toggle the fog itself.
... I did manage to figure it out partially though. I didn't have much time to look once I saw your post asking about emissives, but I loaded it up and did the following:
- Removed unnecessary HDRI because indoor environment only (not sure why PA set that)
- Removed all my ghost lights
- Found floor to have glossy properties and removed all those
Surprisingly there was nothing in Tone Mapping to remove, that was the first place I looked after The Dark Forest fiasco.
Not sure yet which one of the above did the trick, but I'm leaning towards the glossy floor. I only turned on one glossy setting of the three I disabled while my one and only spotlight in the room was sorta shining at the floor and then the floor just suddenly lit up. Soooo yeah, glossy floors and fog apparently don't play well with one another. It didn't quite light up as badly as it was before I turned all those things off, so I can't say for certain until I have more time to come back and test each thing individually.
I can't really point my finger at the PA and blame them for this one, I doubt they even considered someone may try to use fog in a strictly indoor environment....until I came along, and broke the mold with all my nooby methods of going about things, heh. *touches the Save button and Studio explodes* Yup, saw that one coming.... :)
edit... the new daily problem for me to figure out now is why the website keeps throwing errors at me everytime I post something in the forum. This began yesterday, and is super annoying.
more....Wacky Modelling ~ In Carrara ~[Released] LIE Makeup Manager [Commercial]I purchased this very recently. I've found the PDF documentation included in the product to be inadequate for me. I'm frustrated.
The section on Post Load Script doesn't tell me where to find the script. It is not in the Content Library or Smart Content. It doesn't tell me how to use the script, if I could find it. I don't even understand what it is for.
The section on Converting Unsupported Makeups does not really tell me how to do the conversion. It mentions a Makeup Template, but I don't see anything that tells me what to do with that template. Where do I load it? Then what do I do with it? This section mentions a script in /data/Silas3d.... Is this the Post Load Script mentioned in the Post Load Script section?
The first product I tried to use LIE Makeup manager with was Untidy Makeup for Genesis 9. The makeup is LIE based, but it doesn't work with LIE Makeup Manager, which says no makeup found. My first inclination was that I would have to choose one product to keep and one to return, since they seem incompatible. But I thought maybe I could convert the Untidy Makeup. That's where the documentation let me down. I couldn't comprehend how to do a conversion.
I see that there are a couple videos linked here in the forum that I will try to watch. I hope they help. We are always told that only a small minority of customers use the forums. I think the product itself should contain enough documentation to use the product, even if that is just links to supporting videos.

but you look so stiff, my dear. You pose like a rockI see a ton of very good images here in the gallery, on forum pages, and different sites, but one of the things that pops out to me is that the characters look so stiff, unrealistic in the images. They don't sink into a mattress, their legs are not relaxed, everything appears tight. No bulging, spreading, sinking, no relaxation.
How are we to make the poses realistic looking. I think a lot of it is just small movement of the fingers, a slight different angle of an ankle, stuff like that, but some of it cannot be accomplished without some sort of add on that can create bulge, spread, and sinking on solids, dents, etc. Like a head on a pillow doesn;t just sit up there like on concrete, and even on concrete a head will exhibit certain movement of flesh or the hair gets spread, dented, and so forth.
What are some products or even techniques that can accomplish realistic appearance for poses in a scene? What’s the name of this outfit in Caprica?mding said:

Oh, and there's this product, "The Spear of Life", right here at DAZ.

Yes, it's a weapon by default, but it contains morphs for the symbol and the spear point can be turned invisible, making it a staff. (I nearly forgot about this one.)

Thanks again. I did place the My Daz 3D Content Libarary (I'll call them Libraries for ease of typing) into the public/document location and added them to the Content Director Manager in Daz. I removed any links to the files on the external D; drive. Oddly enough, when loading a scene, Daz still says it can't locate some files....asking me to locate files on the D: drive. Why doesn't it simply search in the Libaries on the C: drive?
That depends whether they were in a content diectory, and so stored with a reference to the relative path, or outside any content directory, and so stored with an absolute path.
Another mystery is that no products appear in Smart Content any longer. It's blank. All Libraries do appear in the Content Library panel.
Did you change the Content Cluster (database) path? If so it can't see your previous database.
And there does seem to be some faulty file structure such as: Daz Library/applications/data/Daz 3D/My Daz 3d Library/runtime....
That looks like a Daz Central install, asking for just a single base folder and placing everything in sub-folders. DIM would initially hafe respected that (and Daz Central would have respected existing DIM folder set-ups) but you may have changed it at a later date.

Merging Daz LibrariesThanks again. So one way to do this is to combine the various "My Daz 3D Libraries" into one mega-library. Another way is simply to keep them all separate, but make sure each is noted in the content manager. So I could remain these Libraries as Library 1, Library 2, etc. and have them all in the c: users public/documents/.....mydaz3dlibary(1,2,3,etc.)
Daz would know to search all of these libraries, specifically the data and runtime folders in each libary.
Are all files supposed to be within data or runtime? My Library folders have many many sub folders, among them data and runtime. Should there only be data or runtime with a library...with all other folder placed in one or the other?

Now can you explain todays sale?
In the fine print it says "Discount excludes New Releases, Daz+ Items, Licenses, Memberships, and Gift Cards." Yet the first 1 1/2 pages of the page linked right at the bottom of the sale add, are filled with new and DAZ+ items. Why??? And no, I didn't back search the forum to see if this had been asked before as that would take time and that time is needed to figure out what is on sale and what is just there to fill the pages. yippie
But on a good note, I did manage to go back a few pages and find 50$ worth of nice items for free. So Thanks for that.
It looks like a coding error/oversight where it linked to a page of all daz originals without the exceptions filtered out; it's been reported on the sale reporting thread.

Is the token system working?
I have a cart of $57.56 I applied 8 tokens for 45% off and the price only dropped to $40 and change. My math says it should be $31.57 and that's with the tax added in, remove that and my cart should be 30$ and change.
Am I missing something here?
Without knowing what's in your cart here is how it applies.
"Extra Savings on Your Entire Cart with Daz Tokens
You'll get 1 token for every $10 you spend in a single transaction!Apply your tokens at checkout to get up to 30% extra off your entire cart or up to 45% extra off Daz Originals in your cart."
I dumped my entire cart that day and let my 8 tokens go down the drain. My purchases have since reflected my lack of tokens.

This filter without a means to disable is a bit more than annoying. I'm darn near 60 y/o, and if nothing else, I should be able to select what I want to view of items I might have interest in buying. I mean, come on already, you have standards in place to prohibit content which might be a bit too racy for youngsters, let us adults make up our own minds, and if we don't like an image we can go past it. It's not fair to vendors or customers who wish to purchase products to be restricted in this manner if it's a small minority of people who might be put off/offended by a computer generated character in what might be a skimpy outfit. For those few people: You have a choice of whether to be offended or not, simply don't look at it!
But you can decide that - just go to your Account page, click the edit link for your profile, and allow mature content.
Last, there's images posted which I might not favor for one reason or another, but I can choose to look at it or not. I often will at least look at the detail of the work, I can appreciate the efforts of the creator, the time they spent constructing the scene.... I don't have to approve of it, but can at least make an adult decision to look at it or not. We should have the same liberty in the store too.T
My constructive feedback on the feature, whch I hope is useful.
I feel much the same as everyone, or at least almost everyone else. This site contains no images that we aren't exposed to every day as we walk around towns or watch TV in the middle of the day, so IMO, it's all a bit silly. But maybe there is a tiny, tiny number of people that don't want to see woman wearing a bikini, and also use Daz. If so, they are the people that should be inconvinienced, not everyone else. It's not because their views aren't vaild, it's because there are very few of them.
I also found a bug:
- Go to a mature preview when not logged in.
- Click it, and say you want to see the content.
- Navigate somewhere else.
- The preference is not retained. I need to agree to see every single image.
Fixing that would make it less annoying.
Something else that would help if the default can't be changed, is to provide the option to show the mature content from the thumbmail or the top-level search. As far as I can see, the only way to see the thumbnails is to create an account, log in, find the setting (which assumes you know it exists), and set it.
Many firsts in this project. Please be patient but I could really use some helpWell, here goes. Hello, everyone :) I'm a Daz-Studio-for-fun user needing a professional 3D printing service for my first time ever dealing with anything 3d printed. It took a while, but I found a guy willing to cost out a solution.. He uses a few platforms but one of them is Blender. I don't use Blender and he doesn't use Daz Studio. I've heard of the Bridge to Blender, so I told him I'd try to find out how I can export a pair of figures such that he can load them into Blender, get a sense of the project, prepare them for printing, turn them into .stl files, and print them. (That's about the limit of what I know about this process and Blender.)
Daz product artists have to package their models in a pretty rigid file structure so Studio can use them. does the same thing apply to Blender models? Am I going to email him one file for each figure, or ten for each figure? Do I need to use the bridge plugin? Does he? One thread in this forum talked about Studio also being able to output Blender formats as an alternative, but I'm not clear on what that situation is today. It was quite an old post.
Once the models are printed, I'll treat them as I would a model kit that I bought off the shelf. I'll modify and paint them, and add them to a diorama. I suppose that when I give these to him, texture maps won't be necessary but will normal maps? One post talked about printing problems ensuing when normals are flipped. Again I've seen this expression but don't really get the concept.People talk about having to examine every polygon to ensure waterproofing. That sounds like a nightmare requiring months of time, but if it really was that much of a hassle nobody would do it. Can anyone comment more about this kind of work and whether there's a point where "some work" becomes a "ton of work" and then becomes an unsurmountable problem because I didn't know what I was doing? What's a reasonable amount ot time to spend waterproofing the mesh?
It took me a long time to speak Daz. I don't speak Blender at all, so please be patient.
Daz studio 4.22 Renders looks different from the Daz 4.16?Thanks shedofjoy. I'll check if I have 4.22.016 or 4.2. I do also have 4.21 back up and will do check it too. And like you mentioned I guess you have to accept minor lightning changes with the latest version whether you like it or not. And for your crashing problem did you try some of the fixes here on the forum?
Good day to you.
