Ahh  this one : ULTRAGENESIS : Faces of G ?

    https://www.daz3d.com/ultragenesis-faces-of-g

    YES!!!
    We have a winner!

@Ferretmania I will PM you the GC code immediately. Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

The product is UltraGenesis Faces of G.I used the Gumdrop Granny preset. A double click on that preset automatically dials a bunch of morphs. That is how shaping presets usually work. That is why you see so many products requiring the Daz Genesis 3 Female Head Mophs and Body Morphs. This product dials Eva 7, Karen 7, and/or Victoria 7 morphs as well. But, as I said, I started with the basic G3F, not one of those characters. All the morph dialing was done automatically when I clicked the preset.

I got this product back in December. I think it was free at the time (or free with some purchase maybe??) I bet a lot of you have it, too.

    Congratulations @Ferretmania! :)

One of the reasons I haven't bought this product and others--or guessed it in this contest--is the confusion (at least for me) between "compatible figures" and "required products." It says it's compatible with G3F, but V7, Eva 7 and Karen 7 are required. Just like I wouldn't buy an add-on unless I had the main product it extends because it would be useless, I don't own Eva 7 or Karen 7, so in my thinking it won't function without them.

If you look at the "Whats included and features" section, it only says it includes 12 face shapes for Eva and 12 face shapes for Karen. It says nothing about facial shapes for the G3F base, yet another reason I wouldn't think to buy it without Eva 7 and Karen 7.

I wish Daz would come up with a better way to describe exactly what you need to have in order to use it.

I think the  required products listed really are required in this case, because although I started with G3F base, the presets in this product dialed in some of Victoria 7, Karen 7, and/or Eva 7 morphs, depending on the preset chosen. So, those products are required and the result would not have looked the same without Victoria, Karen, and Eva. I agree, it is very confusing. Once you have the product and use it, you can see what it does and why those morphs are required. Before you buy it, the product page is very confusing. I got it free, so I didn't pay that much attention to the details. I do own Victoria 7, Eva 7, and Karen 7, so I didn't worry about those requirements, either. If you don't have those three models and the product isn't free when you consider buying it, I would not recommend getting it, unless you just want some different face shapes and don't care if they don't really match the promo images.

A lot of character and morph products work really well on the base even if they are listed for a specific character.  They won't look exactly like the promo if you don't use the required product but you can get some really nice results that way.  The best way to find out if something actually needs the required products or not is to ask in the Commons or even here in Novica's thread.  Lots of people who have the product are more than happy to share shots of what a particular morph product will look like on the base figure without the required product so you can see what it would look like before you buy.  Even some vendors are more than happy to show off what their morphs look like on the base figure.  All you have to do is ask.  There are plenty of people to help you out.

  • Edit Rigging and ERC freeze problem with monster and alien morphs

Is there already some ERC runing from the transferred morph? If so you can't simply ruin ERC Freeze again. Instead you should first right-click on the morph in the property Hierarchy pane and choose Bake ERC, which will remove the links and isntead set the values driven by the morph directly for further adjustment.

Another potential issue is the property that the ERC link is set to save with - usually that would be the morph in a case like this. You can check this by looking at the morph's entry in the Property hierarchy pane.

I would, in general, be wary of using Save Modified Assets - that can save things you don't want saved in their current state - I would use the Save Morph Asset command instead, and manually check the morph that is driving the ERC.

  • Morph 3D Artist tools in Carrara

This is a new Product based on DAZ characters and currently works with unity e.g. and allows gamers to create their own custom players inside game. It has built in support for LOD etc. I am not sure if artists can create/modify and sell Morph 3D character via DAZ Studio or DAZ store. Morph 3D Characters have their own Morph 3D store and license etc.

No hard feelings. It is kind of hard to be picky about a simple mistake when another end-user creates a fun contest for $5 for no other reason than to have a good time.
And I wouldn't have noticed, if I had found the Faces of Genesis package, that it required Eva and Karen 7 in order to dial in this morph. I wasn't looking in that much detail before I made my choices.
And looking at the other guesses, neither was anyone else. :D

Yes, I have GIMP. I didn't know that it can edit Normal Maps though. I know that Photoshop has a plugin available from NVidia for creating Normal Maps but I didn't think that worked with GIMP.

I just take the TIF file and edit it directly. I'm not generating a new Normal, I'm just editing.

Interesting - I didn't know that was possible. I don't really understand NMs so I thought they had to be recreated from greyscale maps or from HD type 3D object surfaces.

To me, a map is a map. If there's a dependency on the Bump channel, I've never noticed it. Besides, the Bump map is different... I just don't see the aspects on it that would stand out as a line, whereas the Normal map goes from blues to light grey/white, and then directly back to the purple-blues where I think the line shows up.

Still experimenting with Triss. I do think my smoothed out Normals have made the line less obvious. I applied SickleYield's Beautiful skin settings to the Eyes, and then did a few more small morph adjustments to get towards my impression of Triss Merigold from Witcher 3. The Translucency settings are a bitt different as well. I love the details on the hands, althoguh I've got to fix the Nails. Hate how the Translucency settings have spiked the color.

  • GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]

Jeesh!!  Me neither!  Now I really need to read the PDF help file to really learn the tool.

I'm struggling with some of the overall process, not the details.  I can transfer no problem, just making it meaningful once it gets there. For instance,  I'm trying to move my favorite Victoria 4 characters over to G2F and G3F.  A lot of them are just Morphs++ settings.  Is it better to save those characters as a complete morph or to export all Morph++ components individually and then transfer the character as it was originally created?  In my mind, the disadvantage of creating a complete face morph is that you can only dial in a % of that character.  Kind of like the built faces in Morphs++ (e.g. Becky, Samantha) .  The disadvantage of transferring the complete Morphs++ package is that there are a lot of components and I'm sure a bunch are already in the Genesis bases.  Any suggestions?

  • Killer Legs Morphs for Genesis 3 Female(s)

I can get those results with ShapeShift and the Daz Genesis body morphs when combined. Watch the vid and see if any of the morphs in there is what you could use. Got a pic example of the type of legs or shape you wanna make?

Thanks for the idea! I hadn't bought Shapeshift for G3F, although I have it for Genesis and G2F. I watched the video and it looks as if  I can probably get the shape that I want. I might need to add in Dwarfology (which I already own). I just thought of this "thick bones" problem today when I saw the Killer Legs addon, but none of the options actually seem wide enough.

@Zev0: This is also the leg shape I have been failing to achieve with Shapeshift and every other morph set available, especially the cankles (can't get a smooth transition between calf and ankle). I hadn't thought about Dwarfology, though. I'll have to get that and try it.

Image result for daphne joyImage result for daphne joy

Yep, that's pretty much what I'm looking for, but maybe even a tiny bit thicker in the ankles and calves. But the lower calf and ankle are definitely thick. No skinny little breakable ankles on these gals. ;)

So I started a render that I thought would go overnight but I forgot to reset it and it ended early at 2 hours, still grainy on my CPU only computer so had fun playing with it in iPad apps. Akiko for Mei Lin 7 again with a bit of youth morphs and Anime Kitten Hair, not sure if that was displayed here yet, it's for Keiko 6 and I iRayed it and added in blue tones. One thing I noticed is that vendors never show their characters with their mouth open or using expressions. They just stare blankly ahead which is fine to show the plain morph but it would be nice to see how well they take expressions. I think Akiko takes them pretty well... The only problem I'm having with her is that her palms look too white compared to her skin. (Discovered from an earlier render)

Forgot to mention I used different eyelashes and eyes, so those are not Akiko and I made the iris bigger. And the youth morphs...

Nice character, Wonderland. You are right about promos not showing open mouths and expressions very often. I've had to write several help requests about characters with messed up teeth because the vendor didn't zero out the Mouth Realism HD before creating their character. You would think that a PA would at least look at their character's teeth. After all, they make textures for them. And I am doubly disappointed that Daz QA didn't even check the mouth.

Yes, and some you just can't make smile at all, the face just distorts weirdly like FWSA Pepper for Genevieve looks horrible with a smile.

Did you return it and tell them why?

  • parenting genesis 3 figures takes forever

I just create a group and put everything I want to move together in the same group. Without looking I think it is rightclick scene tab>create> Group.

Also If you parent the furniture to the Genesis figure instead it would go faster I think since a genesis figure has many bones to transfer.

  • Saving a morph

As long as the morph on the figure is set to AutoFollow DS will generate a morph - and the auto-generated morphs are not saved, they are created fresh when needed. If you want to block a aprticular morph then you need to create a new property on the clothing with the same name (not label) - right-click and set to Edit mode, right-click and Create New property, name it, set itt o Hidden so it doesn't clutter the list, and Accept.

If you are getting excessive effect from auto-geenrated morphs that sounds worth a bug report.
