As for the centaur itself, I found it easy to work with and the couple of centaur poses that I tried (from Capsces's set) worked fine. I didn't explore Daz's Hides options very thoroughly, just tried the materials from Raw's Rogan on it, mostly because all the griping about Rogan being an "all or nothing" option made it sound like not even the materials would work.

I think the "all or nothing" complaint with Rogan comes from the fact the Rogan morph and his materials do not support G3M without the centaur body.

I haven't played with the character yet, but I assume you can use the Rogan morph on any centaur. And the Rogan materials can be used on any centaur regardless of which G3M figure/character you've dialed in. But what you can't do, and I'm sure is part of the griping, is use the Rogan "horse" materials with just any G3M materials. RawArt has overlapped the human skin onto the horse materials, and the horse transition onto the human torso material.

Although, if you're covering up the transition with wardrobe anyway, I see no reason you can't use just the horse materials from Rogan... And they are so much better than the included Horse 2 materials!

  • Question about Darkseal's products

Hi MJ, just installed an old copy of 2.3 (I normally use 4.9) and after trying to work out how to use it again manged to load the pet slime & the Rift Walker in okay and pose them, I don't have DS2.3 compatable Mat files but they seem to work as well as they do in 4.9.

Got to go now, need to get to work.

Awesome.... Pet Slime is one of the ones im actually interested in.  Thank u sir!
    -MJ

Had a bit more time this afternoon, not much but a bit, this morning was a very quick play before heading to work. I have found 1 slight issue with the egg pod in that the main open/close morph does not seem to work but the individual ones on each flap do so it can be worked around, also as I noted in an earlier post some of the meshes show tears in odd places (below the right eye of the pet slime) converting to SubD seems to solve the problems in the ones I have tried.

  • Hair style & choker request

    Hi SWAM
I see you have some great hairstyles in your portfolio, I even have purchased a couple of them but I am searching for a specific style I haven't identified yet. die.kane_e880951035  who was so kindly working on it before but it seems she is out of the picture since I haven't heard from her for a long time now.

I like your most recent Nita hair https://www.daz3d.com/nita-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s which has the perfect bang for my character, but it doesn't seem to be able to morph to a shorter style. Would you mind making a modified version of Nita based on the descriptions I have in this thread? In particular, I'd want shorter length (to shoulders), removing most of the overlap of side-hair under bang,  opening up/widening the face to just about reveal the ears, and end curl morphs. I'm willing to buy it if it's in the Daz Shop... I've been looking for months!

How to scale the horse part to look bigger in proportion to the human part:

Select "Male Centaur Body." It's a component of "Genesis 3 Male Centaur." Scale it up until it's proportionate with your concept of what a centaur should look like. The horse body will move upward and the join between man and beast will freak out, and so will the plume of the tail. Please remain calm, and y-translate the horse body downward until the join looks ok again. Select "Male Centaur Tail" (a component of Male Centaur Body), and y-translate and z-translate until the plume of the tail sits properly on the tailbone again.

This is something that I posted in the main Centaur thread, after playing around and discovering that bulky male torsos tended to look odd with the base G3M centaur.

FWSA Kheiron, in human form, was my guinea pig for some of my recent autofitting experiments, including the dress uniform. FWSA have very clearly defined canons of male and female beauty, and Kheiron manages to conform to those canons while still being something a little bit different. He has a very military bearing, and looked good in the uniform. I'm not sure whether he is supposed to correspond to a real-world ethnicity; to me he seems to have a North African/Berber vibe. I did not explore the facepaint options, or test render to see how he looked in Iray.

Eldritch Seeker: I had heard good things about its ability to autofit to G3M, and I was not disappointed. Excellent work from @Luthbel (no surprise, been buying his stuff on and off since M4 Wildenlander released). Holster misbehaves when posed, as autofitted straps usually do, but locking the chest joints to keep them from posing would probably prevent this without being too inconvenient. The lower back of the trenchcoat deforms badly in walking (basically you can see chunks of the red-colored mesh for the coat lining through the deformed, gray colored mesh of the outer coat), but the detriangulator morph in SickleYield's Ultra Templates helped reduce it to the normal somewhat stretchy mesh you see on a skirt misbehaving after autofit. Note that when loading the full outfit preset, the shirtsleeves and the gun holders (on holster) load as hidden, so as not to clip through the coat. It took me a few moments to realize what I was looking.

  • Carrara Sale Email Message Alert thread

TangoAlpha has a "new release" today  "Country Ford for Daz Studio and Carrara"  which of course means any products of his are On Sale... except for "City Hall" which is still listed as "New".  Oh well... guess I'll just wait for his next new release... I did buy the new one mentioned above.  Should be in the "As Wild as The West" sale.

There is a freshened batch of FastGrabs today... I just had to grab a few. :)

BTW OT:  What is the difference between FBM and FHM?... Full Body Morph and Full Head Morph?... just guessing.

  • Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part VI

Possibly my best render to date!  No corrective postwork, only signature added.

Took a while and some test renders , I was going for that subtle soft highlights and shadows - and natural environment lighting in an open shaded area. Alot of bounce light from the pool water, overhead pot lights and ibl. Genesis 3, and Sim Tenero Randomizer with a wide selection of morph packages (probably the bulk of the figure bundle sets available at Daz3d here, including the merchant resource morph packages.), Cybele Hair, TS Bikini, and Rune7 skin. Poolhouse by Stone Mason. One of the poses by Ironman13, tweaked and adjusted for the body morphs.

If the pose looks a bit wierd, she is leaning forward and torso pointing towards her left knee. Right arm originally was supposed to be Palm flat on the ground infront of her between her thighs, but with the wide combination of morphs used for her entire body shape, it just didn't look good.

Great looking render. The one thing that catches my attention as being off is her hand pose. Most pinkys don't bend like that, at least mine doesn't. I would find another hand pose or have it mirror her right arm. Otherwise, great render, love the body morph.

  • Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male

The Gen 2 Male with Bodybuilder turned up, is not big enough for what I want to do.  I want the Freak..  Is there no Freak for Gen 2?

Genesis 2 Male products are not natively compatible with Michael 4 products

I want to put that Centry outfit on the Freak.  Isn't the Freak a M4 character?   The Gen 2 Bodybuilder isn't big enough and I'm not going for the Minataur look.  Is there a way to get that outfit to fit the Freak?

Autofit won't put Gen 2 Male clothes on Freak 4.

Here are some options to get a bigger body for Genesis 2 Male:

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 (To transfer, F4 shape over to Genesis 2 Male.)
https://www.daz3d.com/generation-4-legacy-shapes-for-genesis-2-male (The F4 legacy shape is bigger than the F4 Massive morph that is part of F4...can scale down to 100%...it comes in at 141% scale same with the gen 5 legacy shape Freak shape below.)

  • Lilithai Strigoia and V4.2 - Trying to understand how to use this stuff, General V4.2 questions

    If that's Barbarian for V4 I don't have it so can't help there,sorry!

Back to Lilithoa a moment, it has it's own 'disappear legs' file

The Barbarain morph was part of a V 4.2 Muscle Morphs package, that was probably part of a bundle I grabbed.  I also have "Olympian, Ripped, etc' as options under the V4 product category for that product.

I think I noticed the 'dissapear legs' thing, thanks for pointing it out.

Ok, I was sure I had that (still in mid re-instal on a newisgh computer, and tracked them down as somethign I had yet to install!) so let us see what we can find ... using the INJ Muscles V4.pz2 file adds the Muscle option (which lists teh Barbarian morph, among others) under the Morpsh|Shapes option in the Shaping tab of the Posing pane.

Firewarden, I'm still an Iray n00b myself so I can't help you with the third and fourth questions but...

1). Yes, the original Wear Them All products (one each for G3F and G3M, allowing you to retrofit clothes from Gen4, Genesis 1, and Genesis 2) are amazing. I remember when the autofit concept first came out with the original Genesis, and how crappy the results were. Wear Them All will help with most things. I also have and occasionally use SickleYield's Ultra Templates for G3M and G3F, which can be helpful for specialized types of clothes and have some added tools, but I don't feel like they're quite as essential.

2). Yes, you can do all that with GenX. I personally have only used it a few times because it's a pain in the backside, but I haven't had much trouble getting it to do what I wanted so long as I read the manual carefully and worked through it carefully.

Thank you. I thought that was the case for Wear It All, but my OCD was saying that I needed every option, lol.  My first trial with GenX was a failure, but I'm going to try again. Obviously I need to read the manual more carefully. Thank you for the hope. ;)

There's some kind of shortcut where you load the character you want to transfer, and then tell GenX to convert it to Genesis 3 somehow, but I couldn't find that mini tutorial last time I looked for it on the forums.

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE UNDICI

In effetti ancora mi sfugge qualche cosa sulle Victoria.

  • DS lost my custom actions

Edit: I see I answered a question you didn't ask. Give me a minute to check.

No, I loaded my last saved layout (from before merge and update script), and they're gone. If I run the merge and update script, they come back, but then my Scripts menu disappears. I suppose I could take screenshots and then re-do all my custom actions after running the script again, but the PITA part is that the script also removes the menu items (convert prop to figure, transfer utility, etc.) that I have placed in the Scripts menu, so I have to hunt them all down again. And since the customize menu has no search feature, it takes a lot of looking to find the commands, IIRC).

  • Scene Optimizer [Commercial]

I was wondering about something.  My workflow is that I do my work in Studio, as far as setting up a scene for a render, on my Mac and then transfer the scene to Studio on my PC since that one has my Nvidia card for rendering.  Both machines have the same content.  Will I be able to do this after I use your Scene Optimizer?

It will be possible only if your content is completely "synchronised" (mean for instance on an external hard drive). Otherwise, the new lower resolutions maps which are created on your MAC will not exist on your PC, and then will be missing. If you did not created low resolution maps but only removed maps or changed mesh subdivisions or played with instances there will be no issue. But if you resized some maps, your content must be "synchronized" between your MAC and your PC.

What kind of effect will this utility have on image quality for very high resolution renders?

If you use it correctly, it will have no effect on quality at all.

In this context correct means: You need to look at the size in pixels that each element has at your final render resolution. For example, if a face in the final render (no matter how large the complete render is) is about 500 px across and uses normally 4K textures, you can safely reduce those to 1/4 or even 1/8 without noticable loss of quality. If the same face is in the foreground and takes up 4000px, you need to keep it at full resolution textures or it will be blurry.

    Hope this helps.

    TD

Thanks for the answer, I'm going to have to think about this one.  Most of my renders everything is up close and personal, to the point that I have problems picking environments because even the backgrounds are too low rez.  I can definitely see this utility being a godsend for renders with a lot of depth and distance to them though.

Let us know how it turns out, it will be a good information for people making very high resolution renders.

Ok, let's see - textures to be found (as I think you have) under Poser formats, Pose, AK_SF Lilithai Strigoia.  That contains a raft-load of stuff  - MAT files for the character and clothing, etc., Morph INJections and so on.  Now, to the actual clothing and stuff ... here you need to look in the same Poser format content, but under Figures, and (as I sort of expected) look for the one called AK_SF Lilithai Strigoia.  Inside there you'll find the Outfit and Accessories.  Apply the ones you want (with V4 seelcted in scene tab), and once you have done that, back to the Pose folder for the textures and stuff, selecting each itme in turn to apply it's texture to.
