I need a (G9) woman's skin -- [SOLVED! THANK YOU!]
Shimrian said:
Why not just do a store search? Select characters, select filters on left and expand the Figure category and check genesis 9. Next sort from low to high and browse for characters that have a skin you like. If you want, you can also try sorting by most popular. Price will very based on quality, but there are tons of light skinned characters. Some will include both masculine and feminine nipples, but some don't. Not sure if that matters for you or not, but the skins should work fine on all G9 characters. :)
Example search: https://www.daz3d.com/characters#filter_compat_figures=Genesis%209&order=price%5E-1&filtered=1
I know how to search/filter, but thanks. Was asking for recs specifically because there are a TON of light-skinned female characters, and I was hoping to not have to look at all of them for freckle distribution if some kind soul with greater experience/knowledge happened to know of a product offhand that would suit.
Any Red Dwarf stuff? The best place I've found for movie/book/fan stuff is Sketchfab. You'll get an .obj, an .fbx or a .blend file most of the time and if your materials skills are up to scratch you won't have a problem using them. Great place for vehicles, space ships, random props etc. If you can think of it, someone has modelled it already. It's a gold mine.
There isn't a great deal there unfortunately but more than enough to get started - https://sketchfab.com/search?features=downloadable&q=red+dwarf&type=models
The BBC budget for every episode was about £20 so you should be able to put together any of the sets or scenes from the show with what you already have... :)
Ninefold's Palatable RendersOh, you've definitely seen Mucha's work, or at least pastiches of him. He was a prolific commercial artist and largely defined what comes to mind when you say "art nouveau" to anyone who isn't a huge art nerd or an architect.

Trying to create a script in the ides that , opens file, changes pose, saves filei have a file that conations a charcater , and i want to open it, change the character pose to a different pose that is store in my content libary, then i want to save the file
i have been trying for ages to get a script make that
1 - opens a file / a scene already saved on my computer2 - changes the pose of the character in the scene
3 - saves the file / scene on my computer
var oContentMgr = App.getContentMgr(); // Open the first file oContentMgr.openFile("C:/Users/me/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/RENDER-SCENCES/Amatera-8.1-cyborg/character/clothing/pose4/pose4-clothing-set5.duf", true); // Change the pose of the main character for the first scene var mainCharacter1 = Scene().findNodeByName("Amatera 8.1 Cyborg HD"); // Adjust the character node name if needed if (mainCharacter1 !== null) { // Example: Change pose to a predefined pose named "Pose4" mainCharacter1.setPose("MTW Tac Knife Standing 03 G8F"); } else { print("Main character not found in the first scene."); } // Save the modified first scene App.saveScene("C:/Users/me/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/RENDER-SCENCES/Amatera-8.1-cyborg/character/clothing/pose5/pose5-clothing-set5.duf");the code above i have got out of a long process with forum/google/gpt, it seems to not no anything about daz studio scripting at all
the script above opens the file ok
we run into a error on line 7 finding the scene
and i am not sure if the changing the pose and saving the scene after are correct either, can anyone adivse, thanks

yeah I was using irays materials ok ill render a scene like anatomy theater and see how that comes out, if not good ill ask if I cn get some tips how to improve it
even without switiching the engines I would like to know how to use and how m and b4 will come out with 3dL
Hello. I’m a hobbyist who dabbles with Daz Studio and other 3D rendering software. I’m retired now so I have a lot of time to give to this … not that I plan or expect to create masterpieces. I would say in general, that items created in the 3Delight heyday will render best with the 3Delight engine and that items created for Iray will render best with the Iray engine. I have had delightful experiences at times when an item with materials created for one render engine rendered nicely (to my eye) in the other engine.
I loaded Anatomy Theatre, a few props and its lights and rendered the simple scene in both 3Delight and Iray. I didn’t try to change any settings; I just wanted quick renders. The 3Delight renders looks better.
@felis mentioned RSSY’s Iray to 3Delight Converter. I have bought that as well as their 3Delight to Iray Converter but I’ve not, regrettably, played with either one nearly enough. Both are on sale this weekend, though, at 70% off ($6.20 each).
If you search YouTube for daz studio 3delight, you may find a very few videos that discuss 3Delight. One is What's the Difference between Iray, 3Delight and Filament in Daz Studio (DAZ3D/Jay Versluis) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS1MPRJjDss.
how to render with 3dliteThere is some threads in the Art forum, where people are using 3Delight, e.g. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/514336/show-us-more-of-your-3delight-renders#latest
They can probably better give advice.

New items used: Odessa for Eddie 8, XI Troll Cave, and Render Studio 3. The rest is in the gallery.

Few comments here regarding new purchases:
- I was stunned by Render Studio 3 lights. Usually products like that are just a base and require tweaking, adjusting, and so on. In this case, out-of-the-box settings are enough and provided stunning results that only got better in postwork. I can see myself using them a lot.
- In turn, I was a bit disappointed by some of the textures in the Troll Cave. Props are really nice (and I'm going to use the environment splitter to separate some things that weren't put into the props section but are separate/movable within the scene), but the floor lacks details and is kind of "too clean" for the setting, and the walls... on my render they were coming out pixelated as if they were not meant to be rendered unless out-of-focus. I ended up using DD PBR Stone Shaders on them both. (And retextured the wooden sticks as well while I was at it.)
- And Eddie. I love Eddie. I should have gotten her much sooner. :)
ASINA - April Fools Competition 2024Denizens of the Daz3D forum, we once again gather on this, the holy day of April 1st, and this year the stakes have never been higher. As you may have noticed, an alien invasion has taken place (Don't watch the news or anything, just trust me), and they come in search of forgotten relics. Before our destructive visitors tear our world asunder in search of these cursed relics, it's up to us to document their whereabouts, and return the wretched things before it's too late. Bring proof of relic sightings to our blessed thread, and you may very well be rewarded handsomely.
Tread carefully though denizens. The relics are said to be foul creatures, with piercing red eyes, jagged ridges, a blood-curdling roar and a deep disdain for us tampering meat sacks. Once we hand these depraved creatures back to their alien brethren, our world will return to normal, and we can welcome May with a refreshed sense of hope and optimism … and maybe even sweet prizes.
RULES
-
All Relic sightings must be rendered in the Daz ecosystem (Including carrara, bryce etc)
-
Your render must have a Relic in it (Banana suit optional)
-
Don't touch relics with your bare hands.
-
Standard Daz TOS rules apply on submissions. Think of the children.
-
Post your images in this thread. If you post them elsewhere, i probably won't find them, and that would be unfortunate.
-
If you're going to use AI in your submission, please tag them with "AI". It won't affect scoring but it will avoid confusion among other entrants".

The [Disco Chives] Misplaced Parrot Complaint ThreadEvery time I hear of somebody in this forum having trouble with a creepy neighbor or some overly imposing vagrant, I wish they could just summon me like they do in the role playing games. Like, they just play the right tune on a pan flute and I appear in a puff of smoke and show the troublemakers a proper crazy woman. And when it's over, the ones who still have faces will tell the police "she ate all the good fruit too. All that's left are the low hanging ones and they've been picked at".

No avail... still "Page not found".
It's Daz+ will be how come.
This is the post I reference in that post: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/627611/another-postgresql-problem
And after doing that (content of that Daz+ post):
Ah ha~ that must be the reason. I used to be a Daz+ user for a long time before I turned into a "disgruntled customer", hahaha ~ But still, Scan... won't help to rebuild complete metadata for the moved files.
Setting the path in "Preferences" seems to save the new cluster path. Setting it only in the Content Directory Manager didn't.
Having done that ... And a "rescan", so that search functions ... All content and CMS successfully shifted to a new hard-drive.
And having done that, new/update content is put in "new location"
Smart Content only functions if - once you've done that - you select an item in Content Library, then right-click on "Content Library Tab" and select "Content DB Editor" and set the "Types" <-- It does then appear with "Filter by Context" ticked.
Yep, I got this but this action is to set a Content Type but not rebuilding correct and complete metadata for the moved files. For instance, if you move a user-facing duf file from its original location to another whatever location, when DB editing on it, you'll lose all product info. from metadata.

I'm a lil puzzled. I moved all my product library. Then did what's in those posts. If you move product files without the db updates it would leave those moved files if you then updated?
The moved files would be still there if there's no further manipulation with them... Smart Content and cms database are not that "smart" enough...

Mesh and Texture Stretching, a way to fix?I wasn't able to put some time into trying this out until today.. putting noob hat back on head (although I never really took it off heh). I feel pretty comfortable in DS, but something this simple kinda defeated me.. after about two hours I gave up.
I did manage to get the Daz to Blender bridge to work but it wouldn't ever let me just send the skirt to Blender, it kept sending the actor and everything. I wasn't able to get the deformation to occur without the skirt being fit-to an actor and the moment I remove the actor from the scene the skirt reverts back to normal, so at the very least I had to have an actor present. This is probably just due to my lack of experience with these sorts of things, as I did feel like I was blindly stumbling around to get this to work in the first place. The only real way I was able to get it into Blender was to export it as a wavefront from DS and then import it normally into Blender, but then ran into other issues that are already commonly reported about the forum (such as loss of textures, etc). I smoothed it out and then exported it as a wavefront from Blender and tried to bring it back into DS but then got lost as to how to make it a corrective morph heh. Since I already have the textures, it wasn't a big deal that they were lost during the transfer, I could always put those back on... I'll look up some more tutorials on creating morphs to try to advance past this part, it's been a while since I made or converted anything into one.
I tried this in Hexagon also, and ended up with some weird results, lol. But I don't have any problems importing and exporting things that way either, so figured it was worth a shot.
Anyway, I'll try at this periodically as my understanding of things improves over time, until I eventually get it right. :)
In the meantime, I found a rather simple workaround.. adding smoothing to the object in DS, and then applying smoothing, will also work.. at least for this item it does. I'm certain this is not the best method of going about it, and I can't say if it'll work with everything I have that stretches out like that--but if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation as me it might work for you as well.
Simple smoothing in DS method:
- Select desired object in Scene tab
- Navigate to Edit on the menubar
- Object submenu
- Geometry submenu
- Choose Add Smoothing Modifier
- With object still selected in Scene, navigate to Parameters window pane
- If skirt is not selected, use dropdown menu to select it
- Click All to show all parameters
- Find Enable Smoothing, tick to "On" if it is not already
- Increase Smoothing Iterations until desired effect is acquired (check for changes in Iray preview mode if nothing is occurring and I can't guarantee this method will work for everything)
Most clothes already come with smoothing modifiers, but I have had to add them to clothing items before for poke-through problems. Check to make sure your clothing item doesn't already have it added first (in parameters), although I don't really think adding a smoothing modifier to something that already has it will harm anything. The higher smoothing and collison iterations you use, the more time to calculate such things is required, and can cause lag in DS when you're trying to work with the model (posing, translating, etc).
@crosswind has the best solution, and if you're able to you should use their posted method.
Can I block expressions for G8.1 ?It bothers me a long time, that many expressions for G8 do not work with G8.1 but still showing up if I open the tab for poses even when I set the hook for 8.1.
Is there a simple way to block them or even make them invible to show up in the search and the pose tab?
How to convert G2F poses to G8F without messing everything upYou can also check the freebie forum for some converters, quite a few in fact.
How to determine assets in scene? The name of the outfit should be in content in order to click and load it in your scene. The name should also be in the scene list of items you loaded. Once you have the name, you can use it to search your product library here in your account.
