  • Is there a way to make a shortcut icon in the Daz models directories to load PS models?

There are many times when want to apply a piece of clothing for a character that I have in, for example, my Daz/people/Genesis directory, but that piece of clothing is only in the Poser formats directories.  So, to get to it in the Content Library tab I have to back up, click on Poser Formats, work my way through that maze to get to the clothing model that I want to load in.  Then, having loaded it in, I have to work my way back to the DAZ Studie Formats maze to continue.
Question --- Is there a way that I can place some kind of a shortcut icon into the DS directory where I have the DS character's model, so that I can simply have an icon right there that will reference and load something that is in the Poser Format directory?  That way, I could have quick access to everything that pertains to that one character all in one directory without having to search through the Contant Library mazes to find the PS directories for the dress/jewelry/clothing/etc. that I want..

  • What Character and Hair is this?

    Ninefold said:

Beautyworks has a tendency to torment the forum by using characters that aren't available for sale (or at least, that no one here can identify as a character who's for sale somewhere) in their promos. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case here.

Yeah, I was thinking the same about this one:

Anyone know which character/texture that is?

  • Idea to simplify Daz Studio Versions and Changelogs

    SofaCitizen said:

From what I have seen they do not share "application resources" - that means that they have separate files and configs. So you can keep your main/standard install of DazStudio at 4.21 if you wish and play around with the beta at 4.22 as you like and then if you need 4.21 for some reason then just run the standard version instead - you shouldn't need to uninstall the beta for that.

If you look to where DazStudio is installed - it will be a folder called "DazStudio4" if you're on windows. Basically, if you install the beta it will go into a folder next to that called "Daz Studio4 Public Build" - thus the files in each of these two folders are separate and not shared.

That's more or less what I thought from having read forum posts over the past year or so.

  • Duplicate formula found Genesis 9

    gfdamron1 said:

I am still getting duplicate formulas found error message whenever I load a G9. This has been happening ever since I first loaded G9 base when it first became available (was that DAZ 4.20?) and before I purchased any G9 characters. I haven't purchased the morph packages that have been identified in this thread as having the duplicate forumulas- are they part of the base G9 figure?

Will installing the most recent G9 Starter Essentials updates cure the problem or are those addressing other areas?

You can  look at the help log to see what is causing the duplicate formulas ( Go to the top menu of Daz Studio, go to the Help menu choice > Troubleshooting > View Log.  Save the log as a text file and use Find to search for "duplicate").  Deinstall and reinstall the product named and see if that solves your problem.  If it doesn't, report back here.

  • Making pairs of mirrored Daz morphs using Blender [Solved]

    Padone said:

One way is to enable mirror by topology in edit mode, then select the mesh you want to mirror from -X to +X, then move by zero. The mirror will be applied.

I'm sorry, but could you break this down into more elemental steps? Otherwise, I have no Idea how to find a setting called "mirror by topology" to enable. I did a web search for "Blender enable mirror by topology" and found no mention of what you are referring to by the phrase "mirror by topology".

  • Why is Daz exposing user email addresses?

Today is the third time recently that I've seen user email addresses exposed by Daz. The first two were in forum postings. The third was in a private message. These were three different users - two were PAs and one was a normal user. In the fourm, the email address was shown where the username should have been, under the user's avatar. Obviously, I'm not going to post a screenshot here and make the exposure worse. This is worrisome. Our email addresses should not be exposed by Daz. Only our username should be visible to other users.

  • Dforce Magnet

Probably the most irritating part is there's no direct path to troubleshoot problems with the creator of this tool. Every single video on this product on YT has comments disabled and the only way to ask questions is on this forum, at the mercy of other users' generosity instead of the people I paid actual money to.

I'm trying to use this to partially hold a pair of shorts from falling off of a character who is shrinking. I do everything the guide instructs me to do and wind up with one of two problems, depending on the clothing item I select. The arrow-thing that visualizes the force of the magnet with either 1. Not be visible at all (tried moving it around and checked that it is marked as visible). Or 2. It will appear on the inside surface of the waist band instead of the outside, despite selecting an outside vertex. This causes the simulation to go [silly] when I run it.

  • Moving the "My DAZ 3D Library"

    function said:

    Chezjuan said:

Here is what worked for me:

    .....

    Hope this helps.

Hello Chezjuan, please may I ask one question? I checked this forums for how to move DAZ from one drive to another, there are a lot of posts include yours teach about this, I fully understood your idea, now my question is: sounds like the DAZ works well after the movement, but how about the DIM? Can DIM uninstall the old installed files? I saw some people said since the DIM relies on those old manifest files to do the uninstallation, but those manifest files still contains old path information, so DIM totally can not find where those files are and can not do the uninstallation, and can not do the update also, is this true? If so, maybe the Symbolic link idea is better.

I didn't use the Foldermove on DAZ so far, but had tried it on another software's folder, there is a problem on it, it can not dealing with a long name file (nearly 36 characters!) and interrupted, so it left the last few folders in the old drive and I have to move it manually, the problem is, no Symbolic link now!  Maybe can use Junction or win command mklink to save it, will try later.

Although you used a different method to move the files, here;s how to fix the DIM for people who decided to move the files without using symbolic links.

You can use Notepad++ to do a batch find/replace in the manifest files folder. You want to replace the part of the path in the UserInstallPath entry: <UserInstallPath VALUE="C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library"/>

    To do this:

    1. Go to the ManifestFiles folder and open any file and find the UserInstallPath entry (it should be line 19). Select it and copy it
      1. Example: <UserInstallPath VALUE="C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library"/>
    2. Open Notepad++ and click Search and then select "Find in Files"
    3. Paste what you copied into the "Find what" box
    4. Paste it again into the "Replace with" box
    5. Edit what you pasted in "Replace with" to your new content directory path
      1. Example: <UserInstallPath VALUE="F:\My DAZ 3D Library"/>
    6. Click the three dots next to the directory field and browse and select your new ManifestFiles directory
      1. Example: F:\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles
    7. Click the "Replace in Files" button and let Notepad++ do it's thing. It may take a while depending on the size of your library.

When done, DIM will work with the installed content and allow you to view installed files and uninstall items.

    (edited for clarity)

But gawd help me, I like hanging around here, so I put up with it. For now.

There's a lot of garbage going on in the tech sphere in general, sucking the joy out of everything.

I do for both, even with some elements I won't mention. Thus I remain. You need an adblocker! Even FF browser by itself kills the bulk of ads on mobile. So that's what I recommend. Desktop is same with 3rd party plugins to grant even more defensive capabilities.

Seems that way, but there is still some joy to be found.

  • Cookie notifications on EVERY single page!

Richard - it's pretty cut n dry.  Mac , iPhone, iPad all using safari the cookie notice on every page, clearing the cache does stop it for a while but it pops up at least once a day on my devices.

i no longer shop at Daz3d.  Ads on every forum page taking 3/4 of the page, all irrelevant stuff to me (Masters in data science degree program now), I know it;s google not daz but it's over and over and over again.  Hit the little down arrow , go to a new topics get logged out, log back in lose my place more ads.  It's incessant.

far less on my PC windows machine as I VPN and don't see this cookie issue as much, but very little time spent on Daz3d due to all the stuff going on (ads, logout, rerouted have to go back n hunt for where I was at - then I just go to another site.

there, there's some more data for ya.

  • Content Creation

Yes, there are no DzTransferUtility and DzMorphLoader classes in the SDK class index table, like many others. But there is a DzScript class in which we can enclose the script text in the form of strings. And then give the class object the command to execute the script. However, Visual Studio cannot check the correctness of Daz scripts. Therefore, they have to be checked directly in the Daz Studio. About two years ago I needed a DzMeshSmoothModifier class. It is also not in SDK. I don't know Daz script well. Not because I don’t like it, but because it is very similar to SDK, and if you use both of them, you begin to get confused by the similar syntax and concepts. Therefore, I found topics using a local search in which Richard discussed with other scripting experts the use of this class and some other features. I borrowed the sections of code I needed from them and included it in my DzScript object. I also took a lot from the DAZ documentation center. When called, the script worked very quickly, being inside one of the C++ functions

    Err.

What's the probability of the AI learning off your images on the DAZ forum/Gallery Ethin? Almost looks too similar to be chance.

    Regards,

    Richard

The Daz add-on is trained only on Daz-owned images, not user or (currently) PA images.

Even if it was I wouldn't get upset about it, I'd have to get mad at myself 'cause our brains do the same thing. Input data, rearrange it, spit it back out. Inspiration, training, same thing.

The similarities are due to the fact that we're both fallowing the "rules of cute" and "using" Daz assets.

I'm definitely drawing "inspiration" from the images I had it generate.
