Absurdly high memory requirements when opening a project with animation in Timeline
Pardon my ignorance (I dont use the timeline for animation) but could it be that "converting into timeline" just dumbly sets a keyframe on *every* parameter on *every* frame - even if the parameter doesnt change (e.g. a character morph) or if the motion could be captured by just two or three keys over multiple seconds. There maybe some tools/scripts to remedy that, if that's the case.

I have those, but would like something much closer to the design in the original trilogy. (There's some notable differences between the Asari from the trilogy and the ones from Andromeda, especially the headfolds just don't look right in Andromeda, their crosssection is too circular) Ideally, the headfolds as a geograft (also replacing the ears) with a variety of seamless textures for skin and markings between the graft and the rest of the body.
How could a scene/scene subset have another scene file as a dependency?felis said:
Try to open your new scene file in a text editor and search for the other scene file.
Wasn't able to find anything, but I DID figure it out. In the first file, I had used C4D to make a custom adjustment to a piece of clothing for the character, loaded via morph loader. I saved a wearable preset that included this item, but did not save the morph asset for the item. It appears this has created a dependency on the scene file within that piece of clothing now, even if it's loaded stock straight from its product with no intention of wanting/needing that morph.
Strange, I'm 100% positive I've done that before with no issues.

Genesis 9 Characters looking extremely botched and deformed when loaded?Judging by the look, I'd say a VO character has a non-zero default morph.
Complete-Segragated Install of DAZ 3dOver the year and a half I've been working with Daz 3d...I've had my share of file structure problems.
I need to know how to completely wipe ALL traces of Daz from my computer..and re-install a completely segragated version.
I have a version at home...and one at work..
the work version is clean....no PostSQL problems...logs into account well.....all the Face Transfer and Smart content work fine..
Home version not so much....Un-fixable PostSQL error....Face Transfer refuses to access the required files to generate....However it DOES find the smart content..even with the PostSQL error.
I want to wipe EVERYTHING and figure out a way to partition the C: drive for just Daz....and KEEP it in the partion..as hard as it will tryr to get out...and it will try.
Use G8 wearable preset on G9?pctech4ny said:
I know this is an old thread, but should this procedure also work going from G3 to G8?
I have a product from another store that has a G3 wearable set that loads multiple character accessories at once.
As long as the accessories are parented and not fitted, it's the same process and it's even easier between G3 and G8 (because the two figures are really close) and as long as you're transfering props / accessories while keeping the same gender between the source figure and the target figure, you shouldn't have to move them following the process explained bellow: the goal is to get a target figure as close as possible to the source figure in shape and pose.
(Transfer between genders can be helped by Cross-Figures ressources kits if you have them)
The source and the target figures need to be the base figures: when transfering something between G3F or G3M to G8F or G8M, using Victoria 7 or Michael 7 with Victoria 8 or Michael 8 is a bad idea.
The process from Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 of the same gender:
- Load the source figure.
- Load the props / accessories on it.
- Load the target figure.
- Apply a Genesis 3 for Genesis 8 pose to go from the Genesis 8 default A pose to a T-Pose (I'm using one provided by @Sickleyield in the description of this video).
- Parent each prop / accessory to the correct bone on the target figure (ex: hand for a sword, one of the neck bone for a necklace, etc).
- (Optionnal step 1 ) If a prop required a specific pose (ex: hand pose for a sword), it's time to convert it using either a converter (paid or free) or look for a similar pose in your library (the converted one should be close enough between Genesis 3 and 8).
- Save a wearable preset either prop by prop or with all of them.
- (Optionnal step 2) If one prop required a pose, you can now save it with the wearable preset.
About Optional step 2, you may already know that but it's a good idea to save only the poses of the bones needed (ex: the hand bone and its children for a sword). To get here I usually unselect everything and navigate to the bones I need (I'm only looking for the parent bone, so if I'm 'converting' a sword, I'll select the right / left hand and let Daz select every children). On that part, I'm not totally sure what the best practices are so if there is a better way, I'm all ears

How it looks with a G3F Sword parented to a G8.1F figure, with the sword parented to the right hand:

As a bonus, it's possible to use a similar process "converting" a wearable prop to Genesis 9 with a couple of additional steps, all taking place between step 3 and step 4. Step 3 now looks like that:
- Load a Genesis 9 base figure (without Base Feminine or Base Masculine dialed in).
- Select Show Hidden Properties in the hamburger icon over the Parameters panel.
- With G9 Selected, go to the Parameters panel, then Genesis 9 > Hidden > Clones > Dial Genesis 3 Female at 100 % (Genesis 9 should now look very close to a base G3F)
- With the Joint Editor tool active, right-clicking anywhere in the viewport to get a menu then Edit > Adjust Rigging to Shape (no parenting before that part) then Accept.
And during step 4, the goal is to get the Genesis 9 pose close to the source figure default pose but I don't know if someone shared such poses.
Screenshots for G9 additional steps:

Rigging adjusted:

A free product on Renderhub can also be used:
- the clone provided by Daz is closer to the original figure and Daz provides clones for every Genesis generation.
- the free product does have the advantage of avoiding the Adjust Rigging to Shape step.
The other steps are identicals but it may be a good idea to use poses from similar Genesis 9 props, to get a better result. As an example, 'converting' the Chevaleresse Sword to Genesis 9, instead of converting the G3F hand pose, I used the pose from the Iron Lady Outfit and the resulting hand pose looks better.
UltraScenery - new(er) territory [Commercial]Hey, all. Tonight was the first time I used Ultrascenery since finally updating my main Daz intance to 4.22 a few days ago. I didn't do a lot with USC in the 4.22 public build that I was primarily using to test Face Transfer 2, but I did do a few USC things with no obvious issue. I wouldn't have upgraded the main instance if I wasn't confident, having already tested USC, OOT hairs, dForce, etc, in 4.22. But with the 4.22 I just updated the main instance to, USC is practically unusable on most ecologies. I just retested to compare the two 4.22 instances, rendering the same file, and found that there is a massive difference. This example - in which I was redoing an experimental project from a while back - is two USC objects (a Grassland 1 in the foreground and a Woodland 1 in the background); a G9 figure with hair and clothes; and some flowers.
In Public Build 4.22.1.88, it took 9:30 to render this on my 3090 system.
In the newly upgraded 4.22.0.16 release instance, after 40 minutes, it had gotten to 20%. (I wouldn't have even let it run that long, except I went to wash dishes and stuff, thinking it would be done when I got back.)
I did some testing to try to narrow down the problem. The newly updated Daz can finish rendering this scene in about 6.30 as long as the aspens in the Woodland 1 USC in the background are not visible. But as soon as the trees are involved, it's taking forever. I created a new scene, with Woodland 1 and generic lighting, and it was slow. Tried Pines 3 with pines and aspens and it was slow. I tried it with just the pines, and it was still slow. Something about the trees seems to be bringing it practically to a standstill.
There's no obvious errors in the log. I updated the Nvidia drivers earlier this year to 31.0.15.5123; and if it's a driver issue I would expect it to be a problem in the public build Daz on the same computer. I haven't noticed any other crippling performance issues, or errors or problems in general, since upgrading.
Anyone have any ideas of what to look at? I don't recall any performance issues when I last used USC prior to upgrading from 4.21 to 4.22.
Harlow 9I like Harlow 9. On the Right, Harlow 9, on the left, Harlow 9's body with Torment's head, neck a bit shorter, and waist just a bit smaller to match Torment's shape, and I took a stab at flattening the chest. The shape is not a perfect match, but closer proportionally to Genesis 8, which I prefer.
I think Harlow's genetics are great.
I'm not particularly fond of the gender split in Genesis 9 males, but I do find this morph to be quite useful.
Why, WHY (painted eyebrows on G9)I'm only concerned about what brows look like in Filament, so usually, painted ones look better. Most of the G9 chars come with a link to brow card 06, ( I think it is ), if the char doesn't have it's own fiber brow. That one looks pretty good if you take out all the shiney shader settings. The free Onfleek item for G3F worked well because of putting a tex shadow under a fiber brow. But a really nice painted brow looks much better,IMO, of course the painted ones are frequently too dark, or too something to be modifiable enough with the brow morphs. I typically want a smaller brow and especially not as wide. So, even without any available morphs for a fibermesh or card brow I find I can scale down it's x value maybe at the hip or head (sorry brain freeze) and even the y scale. If it's in the right place after scaling, then have it parented to the head instead of the figures main node then it moves correctly when posing the figure. So I'm all for having browless tex when needed and hope Zev0 is gonna update, cause I never get around to erasing them manually. And I'm still trying to figure out how to seamlessly transfer nice painted brows from one tex to another in GIMP - maybe not an average persuit at this point. /

The allure of fan art? - A conversation@lou_harper described it perfectly
My experience.
There's only one reason I got into 3D. Vergil from Devil May Cry.
Orginally, I created an oc (she looks a bit like my avatar here), gave her a story, and partnered her with Vergil for my own enjoyment (or delusions - Depending on my mood).
When I downloaded Daz Studio back in 2013, I created a character morph of her, and made my own (rubbish) head morph of Vergil.
I don't write fan-fiction anymore because my heart isn't in it, and (believe-it-or not) words don't come easy to me (plus, grammar). So I rely on Daz Studio.
While I love doing DMC-related renders (which are the majority of my work), I also love doing renders of other gaming characters that I like. Plus, I'm more likely to share renders of characters outside of the DMC universe, because I rarely do anything which doesn't feature my OC (I don't like sharing her... I'm selfish like that... :3 ).
Fabiana Appreciation Thread
Hi @MissLeah! Well I think that the system is the same than for humans... BUT: I am not very sure if the alteration range of the morphs would cover unexpected ear shapes. I mean, probably they will need more than morph dialing if the ears are too different from elven or creature ear shapes (whose I tried to cover when testing) I'm very interested to know if you found a way to fit them to non humans. Please update me ❤️MissLeah said:Hi @Fabiana. Do you have any tips for fitting the cuff to non-human ears? So far, I've had to do it manually by moving, scaling, and translating the parts where I need them. It's worth the effort to me to use the ear chains on my characters, but I didn't know if I was missing an easier way to do it. Thanks so much for answering our questions!
(Solved) G9 Body Morph pack recommendationsHello.
I really want to start using Genesis 9. But I only have the morphs which come with G9, and Sickleyield's 100 free morphs
Are there any in-depth body morph packs available? I'm thinking along the same sort of line as the Genesis 8 Female or Male Body Morphs.

Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 4It is just short of 13 years old. https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/87177/leon-for-m4 it's the only morph I can fin. I would prefer a G8M verson with Iray. not M4 and textures of 13 years ago. I want to match it up the the Natalie Portman morph (not as good as I would like) from Leon the professional.
