The I Miss the Old Days Complaint Thread
as for iClone, Blender whatever
you actually have to load and try the software not just buy and collect it.
I started out 13 years ago as an iClone3 user so first 3D software I ever used so I probably find it easier than DAZ studio because of that. Hard to really say, That said, I am only on iClone6.
Blender confuses me but I do use its video editor daily, I have never figured out how to install Diffeomorphic and my FBX imports iffy and Alembic imports very heavy but work (using Sagan), not found the DAZ to Blender plugin useful.
I prefer Carrara to the lot but dabble with Unreal Editor a lot too, not installed it on my computer yet since the hard drive failure a fortnight ago, not installed Poser11 or many other things yet, still cannot get smart content or metadata even working in DAZ (mainly used for the search function).
Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 releaseddo you have advice for fittin high heel shoes that I already imported characters? I mean when I import character I import morphs fix materials and keep it here. After when I want to change clothes I import another file and copy clothes than use corrections and change armature. It works well but only problem is high heeled shoes because they have pose to fit shoes. So how can I solve this without having seperate file just because I want to change shoes?

Well, my advice - assuming you want to continue using Daz Central to manage your installs - is to do the following. Note, this is a bit of an extreme approach but Connect has caused me multiple issues in the past until I did this.
- Log out of your account inside Daz Studio and ensure you stay logged out.
- Find the base path of Daz Connect and search for product references - I cannot remember the exact path but somewhere under the cloud folder is a folder of products and another with json files (these are metadata files relating to Connect)
- Within Daz Studio right click and uninstall any products that have a reference within the product folder of Daz Connect (this should delete the related product folder).
- When that folder is empty, delete it
- Then delete the folder containing the json files
- Use the Content DB Maintenance to reset your database (skip the backup first since you do not want to save the broken config).
- Use Content DB Maintenance to reimport metadata again (e.g. pull from the /Runtime/Support/*.dsx files)
Hopefully, that should give you back the same Smart Content from the last time you backed up on the old machine.
DAZ Central not recognizing assets after moving files to new computerI didn't uncheck anything for the re-import... Might it have anything to do with the DAZ Connect pathway? I was just looking at that in DAZ on the new machine, and it has a pathway to a folder on the C drive instead of the D drive.
DAZ Central not recognizing assets after moving files to new computerAre you sure you have added all base libraries correctly? If you reimport all the metadata it should add everything back to both tabs - you did leave everything checked in the reimport window right? You didn't unselect everything and only check UserData? You can try right-clicking on the background of the products tab and selecting refresh to see if that helps, although I thought switched between Products/Files tabs does this automatically.
DAZ Central not recognizing assets after moving files to new computerThanks for the response. I did re-import the metadata from the old machine, and saw a quite extensive list pop up of the files, and they're all there in the Smart Content, but they're not listed when I use the "Products" tab in Smart Content.... I'll open up DIM and check my paths again for the Manifest Files.
DAZ Central not recognizing assets after moving files to new computerI don't use Daz Central but as I believe it works similarly to DIM you have probably not copied the manifest files across perhaps?
For the Smart Content that will not show up just by copying the files across - you must go into Content DB Maintenance and Re-import all the metadata. This will give you a window showing all products found under all linked base libraries and when you hit continue it will read in all the DSX files under the Runtime/Support/ folder. Depending on the number of products and your hardware this process is likely to take up quite a few minutes.

As default, not possible... In general, just try to get a good draping result by 'one simulation'. If you use timeline for simuation, you may add more frames after the last key frame to have more stable / better draping.
But if you really need a '2nd simuation' based on the 1st simuation's result, you can export 'the result' to obj and import it back as a morph dial with Morph Loader Pro. Dial it and go for the 2nd simulation, then the cloting or object is gonna further drape to some extent.
Note, however, that this will not be the same as continuing the previous simulation - it will lose all information about momentum from the previous sim and just start over from rest.
Yea, that's why there first of all should be a 'dial' of previous result, then this technique is more or less used for some special case, e.g. I use it on the simulation of self-made 'rolled sleeves' with contraction settings, etc...

Cut a hole in landscape? So geometry editor did the trick. I can highlight parts of a landscape plain and hide that geometry.
One odd part. If I import the same product again it does not appear complete, but with the same missing (visibility turned off) portions.

Has anyone had any luck exporting converted Gen 8 to 9 figures to Blender?
Figures converted with the RSSY bodysuit; they have Gen 8 textures on a Gen 9 figure.
When I attempt to bridge these converted figures to Blender nothing at all exports.
It would be nice to use Gen 8 textures on a Gen 9 figure in Blender but that does not seem to work at all.
Also, Gen 8 and 8.1 figures come into Blender with their shoulders distorted.
And as I mentioned, poses are not importing for me in any version with any figure.
I wish that part had not been broken with the latest update.
But a great thing is that the eye textures now import correctly into Blender! That is really nice!
I have noticed that when importing meshes that glass, emissives and some metals don't seem to export properly.
My experience with Blender is their glass shaders are hard to get right, They have a refraction problem and this distorts the view through the glass.
The only way I found to fix this was to shut off the glass entirely and leave it blank with the illusion that there was glass in the window.
I tried several node-based glass solutions in Blender and did not find one that I liked.
So, scenes do not export correctly, and figures and their poses do not export correctly.
I hope this project gets some love and these issues are all fixed soon.
Thanks for your efforts on this Daz to Blender Bridge!
Make sure you are using the "Import Pose" option and not trying to Pose the character in Daz Studio:
- Most official Daz Store poses should still work, this functionallity has not changed
- Importing custom User poses is on the TO DO list for a future update
- Importing pre-posed Daz Studio characters will also be in a future updateRSSY body suit:
- Try this workaround: https://github.com/daz3d/DazToUnreal/issues/44#issuecomment-1616582114If possible, please post your issues and bug reports to the github bug-report page so we can keep track them. Thanks

G9 Diffeomorphic General HelpIt's not that G9 is "bad", it can be perfectly used in blender with diffeomorphic. The point with G9 is it is HD based, so you may avoid it the same way as you may avoid HD figures, because HD takes much more resources so it's not good for animation, but it's good for single shots. You can of course also use G9 with its base mesh without the HD shape, if it fits your needs.
Personally I avoid both G9 and HD.
As for your questions you may want to read easy import.
https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/wiki/Import/Easy Import DAZ
1. https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/wiki/Setup/Morphs/Import DAZ Favorites
2. https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/wiki/Setup/Morphs/Import Visemes
3. No, because daz morphs are a mix of bone poses and shapekeys, so drivers are needed that's why you access them via the addon morphs panel. But you can bake to shapekeys if you need to, this way they will not work the same though because interpolation will be different.
https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/wiki/Advanced/Morphs/Convert Morphs To Shapekeys
4. With easy import you can save and load presets.
Daz to Blender Bridge - Meet the TeamHas anyone been able to get poses to work in the Daz to Blender Bridge?
I have the last 5 Blender versions installed on my PC and the latest bridge poses don't import in any version of Blender.
I also tried editing my .py file, that worked with the last bridge but does not work anymore.
Is it possible to make fur right on the G8M?I just purchased a bunch of morphs for G8M and G8F. I would like to add two fur colors one color shorter than the other. I know I can do this in blender but trying import back and forth would just be too much of a hassle.
Is it possible to make fur right on the G8M?Troubles with transferring content between computersI know it's not easy since the forum attachments are broken but it would help if you had some screenshots of your config and the issues you are having. You should also expand more about what you mean by "transferring content" - did you copy the files from one machine to another? Is it a shared drive that both machines have access to? and so on.
In general terms, providing the files are actually there and in the correct place and you have the base libraries setup properly then that should be enough to see the content via the Content Library. Smart Content is a different story and requires reading in the DSX files from Runtime/Support to populate the CMS of the second machine - this is the Reimport Metadata via Content DB maintenance that you have mentioned (or other similar method).

I installed it a different way. I looked at the installed files in DIM and saw that only the ones in the Environments folder were shown in a different colour which I think means they weren't there. I found the .zip file in DIM's downloads folder, opened it in file expoler and copied the Environments folder into my library.
In this way, there's still no metadata in cms and you still cannot find this product in Smart Content, unless you never use Smart Content...
I don't use smart content so i didn't know it wasn't there. Your method is much better.
Confuse! My morph acts unexpectedlyJames said:
Hmmm... how did you do it exactly?
I only know these steps:
1. I put the hijab in a certain G9 figure. Usually there will be a bit of deformation.
2. Sent it to 3D editor as obj, blender or whatever. Fix it.
3. Import it back through morph loader proBefore bringing it back in to make the morph through morph loader pro {or the Hexagon bridge for those using Hexagon} in D/S select only the Hijab {remember mine was just made, with no attached dforce simulation things}.
On the Parameters Tab find the hidden used morph which is for the head. {or if is only 1 shape that's fine, then select that one} It is a "generated morph." Zero it. {don't mind what it looks like now}
Right-click on the dial and click on "Edit" to toggle on edit mode. Then click on the tog wheel and click on Parameters. Find 'the name' and copy that info {might want to paste it into notepad}. RENAME that generated morph. {I also rename the label so it's easy to identify later on}{Give it something sensible like "don't save" or "delete"}Now bring in the new shape to make the morph.
Paste in the name or type it in "exactly" the same as the generated morph had been named.
It should 'pop' to 100%, if it doesn't dial it in. If it's a keeper, wonderful.
Polish it {I call mine morph/shape, i.e. not generated, use limits, set min. to zero, put it in tree maybe under Hidden and check hide if you really want it hidden, color the dials as please}
Then with the hijab still selected go to File > Save as > morph ... find and select ONLY THE ONE new morph that was just made by you. Then, delete the hijab from the scene. Select the figure. Load in a fresh hijab. Your morph should be looking as desired on the figure. Dial the shape out/in on the figure, then select the Hijab and the new morph should be there {toggle show hidden on of course}.
