  • Error Message when Loading G8F Characters

If you are loading a base figure, you have a morph installed that was updated for G8 (manually), and a reference to G3 was not changed

This happens even when I load a G8 figure without morphs.

There was a product that did that, I thought it had been updated - check DIM/Smart Content for updates, depending on your instalaltion method.

If you recently installed Daz Central it may have changed some of your settings.  Look in Daz Studio Edit_Preferences_Content_Content Directory Manager.  Click the + sign on each of the content sets and make sure they are pointing to the directory where your daz resources are.  You may need to look in DIM also to make sure everything is going where you expect it to be going.

This is a fresh install after I had to re-image my computer. When I re-installed Daz, I pointed my library to a large secondary drive instead of the primary drive. Everything looks how I expect it to. I attached DIM settings, maybe you can see something I missed.

    Thanks.

  • Downloader manager is gone then?

I downloaded and ran Central to see what it did. Apparently it uninstalled every single thing I had already installed and been using.

  • Daz Install Manager (DIM) 1.4.0.94, Now Available! (*UPDATED*)

Is DAZ Central using the same type of Manifest files for installed content as DIM? If, are they shared if you use both (if that's possible)?

In theory yes. I have both and installed and they share what is and isn't installed. At least during beta, now centrals wants me to update to use and i'm not inclined to test my luck again. While i had no issues (i don't use default paths, btw), lots of people shared horror stories with this. I prefer DIM in every aspect except visuals. But visuals can be deceiving. Also search is good in central, but i need that level of good inside DAZ, no in an outside app.

OK, thanks.  Yes, though I haven't tried DAZ Central I probably never will, DIM works great for me, and I write my own tools for whatever else I feel I need.

Hear, hear!  Why replace what isn't broke?  And why upgrade if the main inconvenience(s), like using an external app, aren't what's corrected?

I trust you are aware that each gender has its own installation files.

If installed with DIM (or Daz Central, II assume) - instaleld through DS there's only the one product for each generation.

    That's interesting. Obviously I'm installing manually ;-)

  • [Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female(Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]

I think it's this new "DAZ Central" thing. I recently upgraded to it and found that morphs I had before installation of DC, afterwards weren't there. It was very noticeable on Genesis 8 starter stuff. I had to go back and manually install (after downloading the zip from my product page) for the starter pack morphs to work again. It was weird when you go to raise the eyebrow of your Genesis 8 Female, only to discover that the morph didn't appear in the parameters panel. Not exactly sure as to why DC did that.

Huh.  I have not tried it yet as I don't like to mix install methods.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Complete uninstall and reinstall required - help please!!

I'm not installing Central. I told you that DIM allows you to uninstall Daz Studio so should Central.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I've checked Daz Central and there is no option to uninstall that I can see.

Then put in a support ticket. I'm pretty sure its there.

  • DIM, Smart Content, DazCentral all biffed by DC Install

If you haven't already you might check in DAZ Studio Edit_Preferences_Content_Content Directory Manager.  Click on the + sign in each content set and verify all are pointing to the correct directory.  This worked for me.  DAZ Central had changed some of them and I had a heck of a time getting everything working.  Good luck!

You and Fixmypcmike were absolutely right.  There were several garbage paths in both Daz Studio and DIM, and one of them was set to be used on DIM.  Seems like the Daz Central install must have changed some of them, but deleting them all, finding all the products that had used them in an install, uninstalling those products, then reinstalling using the proper install path worked.

You need to see if Daz Central can let you uninstall stuff. DIM does.

When/if that gets done, If you want to install everything to D: you have some hoops to jump through.

DL and install DIM. Then, before you DL anything, open up the DIM basic settings and point every path there to your D: drive. Then do the same in the advanced settings. then DL and install everything, be prepared for this to take a while.

Also before you get in too deep, since you just bought the computer, get bigger drives. I didn't think 128Gb boot drives were still a thing. Also 1 Tb is very small for 3D qassets particularly if you'll be installing everything else on that drive as well, and you will 128 is tiny.

Thanks for that. DAZ Central will let me d/l stuff, but I need to uninstall DS from the SSD first, which is the whole point - the SSD isn't big enough and I want to reinstall d/s and all content on the HHD. Daz (system and content) on my current computer only occupies about 300gb, and works fine, so 1Tb will be  ok. Plus I have an external HDD if I need it too. Its the processoer, memory and graphics card improvements I want, not arces of memory

  • Complete uninstall and reinstall required - help please!!

Ok, I apologise if this has been covered in other threads, and I'll try not to make this too long. I have just got a new computer, and am wanting to install DS 4.12 onto it along with my content (and existing characters/scenes if possible). So, I d/l Daz Central and Studio 4.12 yesterday, and begin downloading my content via Daz Central. All seems ok until it becomes clear multiple files are missing for G2 and G3 figures (the "actors"), so something is wrong anyway. I think I should have installed via DIM but I didn't

I guess I should have thought of this before, but the bigger problem is that my new computer has a 128gb SSD and a 1Tb HDD. I have started with d/l DS to the SSD and had planned to put content on the HDD, but its clear that even this way, with my other other programs the SSD will soon fill up. Therefore my new plan is to completely uninstall and reinstall ALL Daz Studio and content on to the HDD - in other words D Drive. But this isn't simple

    1) I can't uninstall DAZ Studio as there is no uninstaller - where is it, and if there isn't one how do you uninstall? I don't really want to do a System Restore, even thought with a new computer it won't be the end of the world. So I'm stuck here at the moment with a partially working 4.12 that I can't uninstall

    2) Assuming I can clean uninstall, what is the best way to reinstall DS to get best result? Is it via DIM or is it manual? If its via DIM, I see there are other threads showing how to change the paths from the default C: to the new drive, but is there anything else that needs to be done for a new install on a different (in this case :D) drive?

    3) Having done all that, and assuming all DAZ content is then d/l and installed via the DIM, what is the best way to move 3rd party and poser content from "My Library" to the new computer - do I simply copy on a storage device and transfer it across - if I do this will DS recognise and find the files ok? I understand that saved scenes and characters may not work, it would be nice if they did but again its not the end of the world

Could really use some help on this so TIA

What path did you change? The database is in the %AppData%/daz3 3d/cms/contentcluster/ folder byt default anyway so I'm not sure why Daz Central and other methods would disagree.

That's where my cms directory is.  DIM uses that directory as it' content db path, which is why I am so confused about 1) products installed through DIM not showing up as installed in DS, and 2) DC thinking that all my products needed re-installing.

  • DIM, Smart Content, DazCentral all biffed by DC Install

I am only installing through DIM.  I uninstalled Central the first day, and haven't re-installed, but since that fiasco everything installed through DIM has to then be re-installed once i open Daz Studio (by right-clicking on the product icon and selecting "Install").  However, in this latest case of Ultrascenery, the "install" option is not available inside of Daz Studio, and it just tells me the file is missing when I try to use it (it has a yellow triangle icon on it).

While in Daz Studio I have tried to use "update metadata".  that's when I noticed that in the log it says "Connecting to Daz Central" even though I don't have DC installed.  It says updating 1 of 4 and then 2 of 4 and so on, then completes with the message 2 items failed to update.  So it's the metadata import that reports a fail.  The install in DIM always says it is successful (but i have no idea how that can be, as the product seems to think it is not installed once i open Daz Studio).

Sorry about the hard breaks.  It's a bad habit from never knowing in a web page whether "enter" is a paragraph return or a submit.
