@Elor As Richard mentioned, I've had some "Unintend Consequenses" with saving that way (due to similar to what is being discussed here where morphs were active that should not be, and not necessarily  just JCMs) so it is the safest way to know that you are saving ONLY what you have modified.

    Thank you :)

Well, aside from the apparently far more extensive issues also disclosed in this thread... personally, I don't buy assets if I know there are issues with them that I have to fix. I've spent enough of my life fixing problems that ought to have been the responsibility of the person who created them. Having to so in order to use a product I paid to have fun with (and in this case that was supposed to solve a problem, not create one!) just puts me in a foul mood.

I understand, doubly so now that the problem is much more extensive than initially though.

I'm out of the refund window, so I'll have to see how to fix these problems myself (I will also see if I find the time to file a ticket).

Speaking of fixing the problem: does someone know how to create the missing keyed part of some of the properties? Adding controllers or removing deltas from a morph (as long as it's not an HD morph of course) are both something I know how to do, but the keyed part, I have never done it and I don't know where to start.

  • Dynamic Morphs?

    jmucchiello said:

Is it possible to dynamically load a morph?

    This is a hypothetical example.

Load a base figure in Daz (G9, for example).

Apply a character morph, let's call it ABC Jane Doe 9. (Totally made up)

Daz does its thing and the figure now looks just like a textureless ABC Jane Doe 9 from whatever store Jane comes from.

Save the scene and close Daz.

Go into the /data directory and move all the ABC Jane Doe 9 morphs outside of the Daz content library.

Restart DAZ and load the scene. Jane won't be looking like herself

Is there anyway, at this point, to point Daz at the morphs (currently sitting outside the content library) and have them applied to Jane?

I didnt read all this thread, but to answer your question yes this is easy,  just put the files in a new directory

Daz doesnt care about root path, only relative path, so as long as your new directory still has all folders from /data and onwards kept the same, daz will find it, provided:

    - the scene .duf still has all the same reference (i.e., you didnt resave it after it declared missing files)
    - the /data folder is in one of the directories that you have added to your content library in daz studio (and it is structured properly)

i dont understand why the thread is titled "dynamic morphs".  How is this dynamic morphs? This is "moving content to a new content library".

  • Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 4

    AbrahamRockwell said:

That Charlie Cox is a snack and a half. Ooof

When I saw the JP Harrow morph, it was just so obviously Charlie Cox it was painful (particularly with one of the example images).

This led me to think of, and now ask, the one 'Forbidden' question concerning these morphs: What is the exact 'legality' of pruducing such morphs?

It seems like it may be walking a fine line, as there have some celebrities that have sued movie/TV producers for using their likeness without compensation before (either an actual performance for which they weren't paid, or a 3D scan that was put in post production).

And now we have AI Slop which can do the same easily with anybody's face, and without the consent of the person.

I think that these morphs simply fly 'under the radar' low enough that their producers don't get into trouble.

That being said, I do recall many years ago how one 'Lara Croft Cosplay' outfit suddenly disappeared from the market, and if memory serves, the example images did use a 'Angelina Jolie' face morph (for Poser's Victoria 4), but I think it may have had to do with the outfit being an exact copy of the game version, and not the face used.

So, do you see a lot of celebriy imperonators being sued? Or perhaps celebrities who happen to share a similar look being mistaken for one another suing each other for some sort of infringement? I posit that a likeness is typically that, a likeness. Some manage to monetize said likeness, and as long as it's not defamatory I imagine there's little anyone can legitimately do about it. Likewise clothing, cars, many other material goods would simply disappear from the public eye. IPs are protected, but there are limits.

  • Dynamic Morphs?

Booster Utilities works with G9? It's not listed on the store page. Seems I own it. It wants my DUF files to be in the content library. No clue why it couldn't just have a file open dialog.

It doesn't load JCMs. How do I know if that's a problem when whether there's a JCM isn't obvious most of the time?

And again, still waiting for DS6 support.

I still can't believe there's no way to pass a file name into Daz (somehow) and have it apply the morph(s) inside to the currently selected figure. Daz has this capability somewhere inside it. It isn't exposed to the SDK?

yes, just a static prop but if you export at base resolution, it and the draped version could actually be added as a morph to morphloader but I don't really see the point when a prop suffices for clothing on a hanger

anything can have a dforce modifier added to it BTW

Yes, I'm aware of that. I just wanted a more explicit set of steps for your casual description of what to do.

I wasn't actually giving a step by step

just answering the query as to why the product might be rigged

it also needs to be for fitting clothing

  • Dynamic Morphs?

Nope, there's no way to do what you asked as per the scenario you mentioned above... as you've moved the morph files out of your Daz Lib ~~ Neither DS nor any existing products can handle that, AFAIK.

But since you're using Turbo Loader, why not use Turbo Loader's companion: Turbo Loader Booster Utilities ? https://www.daz3d.com/turbo-loader-booster-utilities

It can load disabled morphs on demand when opening Scenes... only you may have to sacrifice a bit loading speed.

    Edit:
I'm not sure what you mean by "missing products..." but telling you missing products (show you product thumbnails...) and telling you missing morphs (show you a morph list...) are different things.

So I tried using Turbo Loader recently to improve my figure loading speed, and unfortunately, it broke my most-used character preset. Basically, in any scene that I have created that contains that character, one of its most important morphs defaults to 0%. According to the logs, the morph itself is loading, but the morph value is not.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that when loading a scene, morphs are loaded and then poses, I can't just load the broken scene and move the morph sliders back to 100% because it will distort the pose. The only way I have found to keep the exact pose is for me to re-create the broken character preset, load a fresh copy into the scene with the broken figure, and then copy the pose from the broken figure to the one with the correct morph. This will take a huge amount of time by reloading the character into every one of my broken scenes.

I tried resetting all the changes made by Turbo Loader using the "Reset Morph Directory" and "Reset Content Directories" buttons, but this did not resolve the issue.

Edit: Also, I haven't re-saved any of the scenes since the issue appeared in hopes that if I didn't save it, the scenes would still be fixable

Have you searched your HDD for *.tlOff files? That is what TL changes the extension to in order to turn off the morph. Reset Content Directories renames all morphs back to their .dsf extension. If you cannot find any .tlOff files, then the scenes should work as far as what TL did.

I did not find any .tlOff files. Is there maybe a cache or something that I need to refresh/empty after I reset all the morphs to their original state? Also, here are the error lines in the log that may help shine a light on things.

Once the .tlOff files are gone, TL effects are gone. Did you install products lately?

Yes, I have installed products lately. I even reinstalled the JP Sandor character in hopes of fixing the issue, but unfortunately, it didn't solve anything.

You need to look at those products then for the problem. The TL shouldn't be the problem once you reverted everything - I don't see how it could. All it does is rename files and you renamed them back. It's possible that re-installing JP Sandor (perhaps it was updated?) between the original TL rename to tlOff could have hurt its installation, e.g., Sandor Original Morph -> TL Sandor Original Morph.tlOff -> Sandor Updated Morph -> overwritten by Sandor Original Morph? Or maybe you tried to do something with the metadata while Sandor was off and the metadata has locked in the idea that those morphs are missing files, which have now been restored? I am reaching here, but the original TL is not in the equation anymore.

Using Turbo Loader's reset function was something I did before reinstalling JP Sandor, so that shouldn't be a factor either. All I know is that before I used Turbo Loader to optimize my morph collection, everything was working fine, and afterward, the character was broken - even in scenes that I saved months before ever installing Turbo Loader. I've been communicating with support, and I'm trying to find out if I can edit the morph values in the DSON files directly to avoid having to reload the character into every single broken scene. *Sigh* Turbo Loader was a promising product, too. It's a shame that fixing the errors that started with it is going to cost me days of work.

I am sorry you are having difficulty. I wish I could help you.

One last question! After messing around with the Victoria chatbot on the Daz3d website, I found out that what is broken is the controller for the morph. Is that a problem you ever see with Turbo Loader? For example, in this case, JP Sandor HD controls two other morphs: JP Sandor Body and JP Sandor Head. JP Sandor HD being set at 100% should influence those other two morphs to be the same value, but it is leaving them at 0%.

With this product, no. (With my character converters, yes, DS has (or maybe had) a bug where it wouldn't find the dependent morph when I saved the controller property, but that is a different thing). Have you tried editing that controller yourself? If it looks like garbage characters in a text editor, that is just the compression. Use 7-zip to open the file (it is just a zip file) and inside that is the actual file to edit.

No, it's not. It works like DS4 did, there's a free version and if you're a Premier member you have access to more features.

"Premier member you have access to more features"

Eventually, because I've discovered that even though the the Premier plugins have been installed, they are unavailable, at least on my Mac version. No auto save, no pose conversion, no face transfer, no geometry sculpting, no shape transfer. Or, all the things I upgraded to Premier to have available. Daz sure does want you to use that AI feature though. Really wants you to. Why is that?

Geometry Sculptor is working correctly on my system.

As I do not plan to upgrade to Daz 6 at the moment, I hope the great Diffeomorphic tools stay compatible with Daz 4.23. Thanks for providing such a great tool.

Started to transfer all my assets starting with V4.2 and M4 to G8 and then to Blender 5.1.2. Refine the stuff in Blender and create a huge asset library. Daz 6 just doesn't provide anything helpful here. Just problems with older stuff and scripts.

JP Sandor HD being set at 100% should influence those other two morphs to be the same value, but it is leaving them at 0%.

Haven't read the whole thread, so this might have already been pointed out.  But I've noticed that some products that use JCM, also have an influence slider somewhere under Parameters.  They basically look like any other morph slider, but act as a master influence value to control how much influence a specific set of JCMs have upon the figure.

Finger Focus has such a slider, but that doesn't fix any of the morph errors in the product, unfortunately. I did submit a help request about the problems.
