  • [Released] Render Doctor [Commercial]

I hope they edit it. It is not fair to you or the customer since it was the first thing I thought when I saw. Oh look it can do animations.

As did I. There is virtually no other way to interpret the phrase in the opening sentence of the description, "automates the rendering of long sequences of images." Even Websters defines animation as "a motion picture that is made from a series of drawings, computer graphics, or photographs ... and that simulates movement by slight progressive changes in each frame."

Even the addition of a "disclaimer" that it is not for animation (should that ever appear on the product page) doesn't make the opening sentence any less misleading, but apparently they are married to it.

I also saw the "long sequence of images" statement and thought 'animation'.  But a quick read of the specifications made clear the purpose of the script. The language RiverSoft used was accurate, but was unintentionally ambiguous, and which has been acknowledged. The Webster's definition quoted above with respect to animation and "long sequence of images" as the sole meaning of the term is not accurate. It is one meaning, clearly not the only one. But I agree it is one that in this forum many of our minds jumped to. I absolutely would not believe that RiverSoft was intentionally marketing this script as something other than what it is. I would though look for a more obvious disclaimer given the apparent common misinterpretation of some of the central language in the ad copy.

I never said, suggested, or even remotely hinted that he or anyone at Daz was "intentionally marketing the script as something other than what it is." It never matters one whit whether a statement that is ambiguous enough to be misleading is "intentionally" misleading or "unintentionally." I have far too many decades of writing and editing for some of the biggest industry names in publishing and entertainment to be lured into the "intentionally" trap. Ambiguity is ambiguity, period.

And the English language is far, far, far too robust and flexible for anyone ever claiming that "Oh, it just can't be said any other way." It always can be said in ways that are clear, straightforward, and unambiguous. That starts, though, with a willingness to correct ambiguity.

This has absolutely zero to do with the quality of the product or its creator. Yes, I know very well that Riversoft has some fine, unique, utterly professional software products. He also has an ambiguous statement as the opening sentence (aka "the lede")  of the description for this product that is ambiguous enough to have initially tripped up more than just me. It could easily be written at least 10 different ways, any one of which would be less ambiguous and more precise. But as I said above, the fix for ambiguity always must begin with the willingness to recognize the ambiguity and to fix it.

In that same vein, there is another product called "Content Wizard" that doesn't manage content, but instead manages zip files that contain content, and that is so patently inarguable that if you DO have lots of CONTENT, but you DON'T have the zip files the content originally came in, "Content Wizard" will not do a single thing for you.

And if you or anybody thinks that CONTENT is a ZIP FILE, I invite—no, I URGE you—to attempt to load a zip file into a DS scene, and get back to me with the results. I'll wait. I'll just buff my nails or something.

As I said above, which is inarguably true: The fix for ambiguity is always—always—easy to do. It is impossible to do, though, where there is rigid unwillingness to fix it, or even to admit the existence of the ambiguity.

Riversoft has said he likely will do a follow-up product that will do animations, and I have said, and mean, I will be an instant buyer. I wonder, though, what he will do for an opening description sentence ...

  • The Carbonated Beverage and Things Named After Earls Before the End of the Year Thread

Bok Tower might be one of the only things that could get me back into Florida. The mosaics are glorious but that door is just amazing. I have no idea who polishes it but that is an awful lot of brass for that much humidity.

But its not all limestone. That's almost all marble. The pink stone is Etowah marble from Etowah GA and the gray stone is from a different marble quarry in GA. The tan stone is limestone from FL.

If for some reason you must go to central Florida, I know Orlando and kids, Drive down to Polk county and see this place. The guy who designed the park around it is world renowned for his work and this might be his best work. It is simply astonishingly beautiful. If you can catch a performance by the carillon bells you will not regret it, assuming you survive the mosquitoes.

Cape Canaveral Monsters? I like bad Atomic era sci fi movies and have never heard of that one it most be utter trash. Will have to look into it.

  • Daz Central in Mac

I've had to do a fresh new install of the day studio software in a new MAC computer. I've got to install the software withe the new Daz Central. Some of my bought assets are not loading: one of them is Licorne. It appears as downloaded and when I try to open it, Daz says he cannot find it. Is there anyway I can install de Daz Studio Software in the prior version to Day Central for Mac? Thank you.

  • The completely gratuitous complaint thread

Complaint:  My recent order of a better (but still old) CPU chip for my ancient computer shipped a few days ago through the US postal service.  I got notice this morning that delivery was attempted yesterday morning but failed.  I checked the tracking status of the package and discovered that it had been carefully tracked all the way to central Florida and was "Out for Delivery".  Well, that's nice, except that I live in western NY State about 1200 miles away.  The only thing I can think of that would screw up that badly is a wrong zip code.  You see, I live in Kennedy, NY and I suspect somebody at the small computer parts store where the ancient CPU was found , hand typed the shipping label and looked up the zip code for Kennedy Space Center in Florida. frown  I ordered through Amazon but the transaction was handled by a small 3rd-party vendor so all the magnificent digital and mechanized automation in the world was again thwarted by inattentive flesh.sad

Uninstall it the same way you installed it, I would assume. If you used DIM to install stuff use DIM to unistall it. Same if you use Connect, DAZ Central, or Manual Install.

  • DAZ Central not working

DAZ Central is awful... Tried 10 times to install Daz Studio but no luck. I had to update because DAZ Install Manager didn't worked; couldn't login to download software and content. This was a pointless update imho. No need to fix something that works perfectly.

  • Daz Central for Mac, Install question...

    Hi All,

Just downloaded 'Daz Central for Mac' to install.

Upon installing I got a Mac-Catalina system protection notificatiaon on the Daz Central install.

The first warning says that "DazCentral_1.5.0.8_Mac64 can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious softweare. The software needs to be updated."

Now If I give my approval to bypass that warning, by holding the 'Option' key while double-clicking, it will start the install.

But then I got this dialog-warning box stating  "sh wants to record your screen".

Any other Mac users experineced this??

Not feeling real great about installing this.

  • Can't find "Daz to Blender" Add on in blender

Sorry, was searching Program Data not App Data.

    =========================================================================

    1. Install from the Install Manager or DAZ Central.

    2. In DAZ Studio check the bottom of the Scripts menu tab to verify it installed to Daz.

    3. Open Blender

    4. In Blender go to EDIT/PREFERENCES/ADD-ONS/INSTALL and make sure to turn off the file filter in the upper right (to show all files)

    5. Navigate to the the Script found in C:/Users/"USERNAME"/AppData/Roaming/Blender Foundation/Blender/ (*note the current Bridge version is for Blender 2.80-2.83 so you will need to check those previous version folders if not found in your current version (IE 2.84+)

    6. Install and check to activate in Blender

    7. The plugin is found under View Tab in Blender Shortcut "N"

    =========================== EDITED UPDATE 04/14/21 ========================================

         - If you do then your good so far Its installed on Daz.

Now the tricky part especially if you are new to blender.

    5. Open Blender and go to the MENU / EDIT / PREFERENCES / ADD ONS /

         - 5a Make sure you have Community Addons filter enabled at the top

         - 5b Then search for DAZ at the top right

  • Where are the directions for manual offline install?

I've used Poser for years.  Haven't gotten into D|S because I animate and its IK tool is useless, but I'd like to make some still images.

My Studio computer will be a 64-bit Win10 with NVidia.  The internet is not allowed to touch it.  Sneakernet only.  I'm searching and seeking directions on how to download my DAZ code and content (figures from Millennium2 to Genesis8) on a different computer and use it on my don't-touch computer.  Can't find any.  Forum FAQ's are dead links.  First, the D|S download page won't offer the 64-bit Windows install package to my online computer.  Second, the confusing array of support tools aren't helping.  DAZ Connect?  Install Manager?  Content Manager?  DAZ Central?  All of them?  Which one does what is an opaque mishmash of function overlap on their product pages.  Besides, all of them are fully packed with terms like "automatically" and "log in to your account".  Where is the page that tells me how to install, set up, and use Studio+content on a computer that is actually offline... not merely logged out?  Thanks.

    Hallelujah!

  • Installation

Does anyone have ANY IDEA how on earth you install this if your Max/Daz apps are offline?

There is a "manual download" button in the product page but it seems to do nothing?

    I'd LOVE this to work.

You could download but not install with Install Manager on one machine, then trasnfer the instalaltion zip to the Install manager downloads folder on the off-line machine and install it.

Thanks for the reply!  That's what I've been trying.  I have DIM but that crashes as soon as I try to download anything.  Daz Central has no option to download, only install.  As I mentioned there IS a manual download button on the product page but that goes nowhere - been trying for 3 days now!!

So in looking further at the new bundle, it clearly has no dim download. and yeah I put a ticket in. It does have a manual and daz central download though.

EDIT: but the manual download does not work. It is because no contents are listed in the bundle. Ugh.

Customer Support works so smoothly and efficiently, but their workload is repeatedly increased by missteps in QA and Marketing.

Unfortunately, that's becoming more frequent at more places than just DAZ...  The front line support guys are always on the hook for the actions of the central departments.

This is not a central axis.

    Sorry for the confusing image.

Ah, then yes it's the marker for a Rigid Follow group.

  • "There's Always Another Sale™" (Report sales issue here.)

The new wrestling bundle has the Daz Central-only installer type issue, that's why it's not showing up in DIM.

Bundles should not have any install types listed. If it has one, it indicates it's not set up as an actual bundle.
