  • G8F loading with a funky face

Looks like you have the "Demona" character in your library. There is a bug in that product file, so that the "Demona Head" morph will always load with 100% on any character as default. You can just put the slider to 0, or delete the morph, or edit the *.duf file and change the wrong default setting from 1 to 0.

I had a similar problem with G3 some month ago and it took me days to identify it (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/168756/some-morph-is-distorting-my-g3-female-s-body-but-i-cannot-identify-it-solved#latest)...

@Richard Haseltine - the fact that these wrong default activated morphs are not shown under "Currently used" is definately a bug that should be fixed - of course (if I already know the general problem) I can look in the character parameter menu whether there is any morph activated which should not be. But if you have a very huge library, as I do, with many transferred morphs from former generations - then you can search for several minutes or longer... I cannot understand what's the difference between a morph I dialed in intentionally and a morph which is dialed in unintentionally by a buggy character *.duf file - both should be visible under "Currently used".

  • I Am So Tired But There's So Much To Do Complaint Thread
...can't wait until I get real Net service restored. So tired of going back in to what I just wrote several times to correct typos. A real pain as the cursor rarely goes where I need it to be. Also hate the fact I can't do any formatting or paragraph breaks without going through the very tedious process of inserting codes. Also tired of getting those forum update and "draft saved at..." messages as they usually cover most of the editing window making the process even slower as I have to wait until they go away.

Here's hoping good things happen sooner than later...!!!

...three and a half hours to go. Very simple setup as the building is already wired for it and there are jacks in the wall. Need to most likely update some of the work system's AV utilities. Need to decide as the Symantec service I had was provided by the last carrier. Malware Bytes complete seems to get very high ratings at Newegg and costs less than the 3 system package Symantec has. Also need to update the other two notebooks (one is Linux) then I can use them on the Net. Need to find a way to transfer files off the 12 year old one with the bad display as the HDD is still good.

Does windows boot without a monitor? If it does you could remote access the machine in admin Mode via a LAN and grab the files you want from it :)

...don't have a router so unable to set up a network. However, I checked several tech sites and followed various disgnostic suggestions mentioned (save for using an external monitor as I don't have a VGA cable). and pretty much feel I narrowed the matter down.  One of the tests was to place a flashlight to the side of the display, if I could see faint images it most likely is the backlight element that's gone bad as when the display initially comes up, it has a reddish tint then flickers and goes dark.

Not an expensive fix (about 20$) and I have bookmarked a page that goes through a step by step disassembly of the particular model I have.

The other possibility is it is the inverter which also is not expensive to replace.

  • My Genesis 3 Males are having weird shoulder issues

its even happening to a fresh loaded G3M straight from Daz. i have no idea how to figure out what new content i added caused this.

i dont' want to have to reinstall my content libraryies again, this is so flustrating,

is there a way i can contact Daz direstly, honestly i get all my helf from you guys on this forum.

the photo i added is a terrible render i just wanted to get another post on here before i goto bed.

also, i'm too mad at the cubs to figure anything out now...crying

Just so it is clear what people are saying to you,

    1) load G#M

    2) Select figure  and Pose

    3) Go to Edit> Figure>Zero>Zero Shape

    4) Go to Parameters... Tell it to show hidden Parameters

    5) look at Parameter> Currently Used   it should be empty; if not slide the morph to zero

6)tell us if that solves th shoulder problem

Our guess is that it is a hidden morph triggering the shape

  • AQ Jenna Glasses problem

Glasses are rigid items that are only meant to bend at the hinges (and nose pads on some)
As the post above states, position and scale the glasses how you want them to sit on the character's head.  Then parent them to the character's head using the "parent in place" option.
Using this option you will ocasionaly need to adjust the positoning of the glasses depending on facial expressions that involve cheek and nose movement.

Using this method allows you to use a pair of glasses on any character from any generation... with any face/head morph that you like with zero distortion.

Here are a few renders showing my glasses not distorting with poses and head morphs.
First render is D using DE Alice for G8F (if the glasses where conforming this head morph would have distorted them.)
The second onne is showing the same character but with HFS Dwarf head morph applied

  • Can old Charmed outfit be used for adults?

If you have the clone for the Kids 4 for Genesis you can load the clothing to Genesis and save it as a wearable preset. Then your adult characters can wear it. I have several Kids 4 outfits that I use on adult characters. The Kids 4 clothing that I have transfer pretty well for adult characters, so "Charmed" probably will as well. As with a lot of the older clothing items though you might need to add a smoothing modifier and/or push modifier.

Here's the Skateboarder for The Kids 4 outfit:

SaveThat turned out great!  I will check to see if I have the clone.  I've got a ton of modifiers already so I probably have that part handled.

I own this. Is this the clone you are talking about?  https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2

No, that's for transferring morphs, not Autofit.  Genesis 1 comes with autofit clones for V4, M4, and K4, you don't need to buy anything.

OH, thank you, Mike. I've bought several clones as well as downloading several more freebie clones, so I wasn't sure if the Kids 4 clone was one I bought or downloaded. I'm glad to know that it automatically comes with Genesis. :)

  • What do I need to take a morphed figure from M4 to G2/3?

    Hi everyone,

I have an M4 figure based on Jepe's Rodan 2.0 with a couple of other M4 morphs applied. I'd like to move it across to either G2 or G3 where there are more clothes and the like. What do I need to do to transfer the morphed figure and its textures to Genesis?

I'm guessing I'm going to need to spend some money in the Daz Store!

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike.

  • Old content is sometimes super awesome

As I recall, the SKU numbers are not necessarily in chronological order.  That was a new system that was put in several years ago.  Before that items had codes like ps_mo553b (a morph set), or ps_tx2959b (a texture set). and they weren't all converted immediately...some new items came out with the new SKUs in between updating older items, so there are gaps in the numbering system so to speak...some newer items have lower SKU numbers.

  • AQ Jenna Glasses problem

The quick fix is to select the glasses, enable Show Hidden Properties from ther Parameters pane option menu, and zero (by alt/opt-click) the auto-gnerated morphs. However, this will not be a permanent fix - for that you can either assign a Rigidity Group to the galsses (perhaps one for each piece, left arm, right arm, and eyepiece) - that will block all auto-morph following - or you can block specific named morphs by creating a new, blank property with the same name on the glasses before dialing it in on the base figure.

  • New clothing still looks like stiff tubes

I like a lot of the new PA products and wish I could afford them all, but not liking the Daz Original characters at all. Luckily the PAs are creating tons of morph products so we can create our own characters with G3 skin because as most people have said on the forums G8 Daz Original characters' skins are awful... Although I think Josie's skin is good as is V8's (although I don't like her face or shape.)

I find I like the skins on the DO's better, since they aren't overly shiny.

Thanks.  I sort  of figured it out just by randomly clicking on things. It does seem a lot more realistic and easier to use than what I had before.  I bought terradome 3 a while back and found it just too limiting.  I assumed they would come out with some amazing morph sets for it but that has been limited too.  Oh well.  There is always photomanipulation in photoshop.

So, what really old content have you found surprisingly robust? (Other than V4/M4, which is a topic in of itself)

I'd have to say the Home One stuff: https://www.daz3d.com/home-one-bundle

It comes with so many props and so much of it's poseable/morphable. Always a nice surprise while building a scene...'there's a morph for *that*?! cool!'

  • Transferring expressions from G2F to G3F

I was about to do something dumb that may have screwed my installation of G3F, so I decided to ask around before committing to my inner lemming.

I have a couple of expressions packages for G2F that are presets for G2F expression morphs. When double clicked with a G3F selected, they may move the eyes, but, due to the bone-driven expressions in G3F, they do little else, so I was tinkering about and decided it may be a good idea to transfer all of G2F's expression dials (things like pucker cheeks, tongue in, etc) with GenX and see if clicking the presets would then work. So, before I commit and try, does anybody have an idea whether this would bork G3F with conflicting dials (some of those have the same name, even if the workings are different) or if it would work at all instead of creating an unrecognizable monster whenever I didn't use the base G2F morph on G3? Also, can anybody tell me why some expression morphs from packages like Smay's and Alfan's don't appear in the GenX tab? Thanks in advance.
