  • My content is only half installed.

Right click the product thumbnail in Smart Content and select Uninstall. If the thumbnail turns gray, you might have to reinstall with Daz Install Manager again after that. It is a pain. I don't understand why Daz puts that circle/arrow thingy on there to confuse people. I don't know if it is documented. Many many users have been confused by it. I'm glad you only have a couple products to straighten out.

I can't understand, why they have chosen to use different default directories for different installation managers... If you check the posts here, quite a lot of them are about missing or misplaced content. One installer saves the content here and the other one there and if you install content from outside sources, it goes elsewhere...

The basic structure of content library is simple and logical, why not make every installer check if there is already one and/or ask where the user wants it installed

Btw... The cloud thing in the paths of DazCentral installed content does raise questions...

DIM/Daz Central/Manual places all the files in one, Connect uses a folder per product (in /data/cloud/ rather than in the root folder of the content directory. The Connect system should avoid confusion when a file is common to several products, among other benefits.

I'm just reading about all the problems people are having with missing content when using those installers and they don't seem to be using the same root folder.
I'm installing everything manually because I want to make sure they are installed where I want them installed and how I want them to be installed.

Still the "/cloud/" sounds ominous... They just happened to choose "Cloud" as the name of the folder, just by accident?...

They chose cloud because the system sues a CDN to supply the files for instalaltion. It still works offline once the files are installed.

Didn't notice that you had to use DAZ Central for Milton the Sidekick Bundle. Downloaded DAZ Central and the bundle is not showing in my list of assets. What's happening?

You don't. That's an error on the product page.

    Install Types: DazCentral

Hmm, I'm sure DAZ would love everyone to use DAZ Central, but I'm happy with DIM thanks.

That means there was a problem uploading install files, even with DazCentral you couldn't install iit.

Actually it should probably say see individual products - bundles don't really have an install type, unless they include bonus content. It looks as if the products are not properly associated with the bundle, we have reported this so with luck it will be fixed fairly quickly once they are "in the office".

Thanks - that makes sense - the individual products have all the download options but don't show as purchased when bought via bundle, so it's definitely in need of that magic touch when the office opens, hehehe.

it's not the only d/l method. It'll be available on all the d/l methods once DAZ fixes things that are borked at the moment.

I just bought the Milton the Sidekick Bundle and had to download DAZ Central (didn't spot that was the only dl method). The bundle does not appear in the assets list. Where is it?

Oh hey, an hour ago,  a 3.8 earthquake at the Florida / Alabama state line (north) which is directly above Pensacola. Up by Brewton. I was out walking and didn't feel it, it's about an hour driving time.  Well, so far in 2020 I've been in a pandemic, involved in an evacuation for a forest fire, in a busy hurricane season, and now hearing about an earthquake in the state. Okay, bring on the mudslides... (not possible around here.)

Oh my gosh. It's like you are disaster central! I was that way for a year and a half working at Fort Knox. Tornados, hurricanes, ice storms, the works! Which sort of reminds me of a hospital soap opera called Holby City when I lived in Switzerland. That show got to be too much because every show was another huge natural disaster and I'm like are they serious?! Or so I thought until I started working at Fort Knox. laugh

There is nothing in the Milton Sidekick Bundle: https://www.daz3d.com/milton-the-sidekick-bundle

They list the items in the "what's included" section, but since they're not showing up anywhere other than that text and there is no "This product includes the following products", I don't think they're actually included properly. Another tell-tail sign of them not having actually added the items to the bundle is that the "Install Types" only lists Daz Central, and we know that just means there IS no install types added.

YEP, sinkholes in FL are def a thing - when I lived down in the Clearwater-St. Pete-Tampa area I remember one that ate a house and cars, and more recently I saw (just a coupla years back, i think) that a bit of a block on Central Ave in the St. Pete downtown area near where I worked for a while got sinkholed, but they happen around the state periodically.  So freaky to see those gaping pits erupt/implode suddenly!

  • Smart Content for G8F Gone

Hmm, I was just coming here to ask the same question. I recently used to DIM to uninstall most of my content and then used it (DIM) to reinstall  the content on an external drive. Now very little shows up in the smart content for G8F. I checked smart content for G7f and G8M and they both seem to working properly.

Please help. How can I get the smart content for G8F back?

ETA: Before anyone asks, NO, I haven't ever downloaded or installed DAZ Central. So, that isn't what is causing the problem.

  • Can't open any previously created Daz files!

Assuming you isntalled through Install manager or Daz Central the new version will be available when you log in. There isn't currently a stand-alone installer for Mac, so if you used that previously you will need to uninstall and install through DIM/Daz Central.

  • Diffeo Plug-In Question Re: Clothing

No to both quesitons. It is a G8 character with newer outfit.

You may also check where the asset comes from, I mean the file path. Manual install always works, dim should work fine, daz connect needs its path added and some people seem to have issues with it, then there's daz central that I have no idea about.

Personally I do manual install only. That also works fine for third parties.

I long ago gave up on multiple run-times and instals. I use DIM exclusively.

  • Asset-Transfer Utility-Projection Templates missing.

I have recently been trying to learn to import clothing as objects from marvellous designer into Daz Studio and convert them to clothes. The process to do so as best as I can tell, unless you are just rigging the meshes manually, is to use the Asset-transfer utility options in the window pane menue to apply pre existing rigging from a figure that you would like to fit the object to as clothing. I have managed this in the past with no issues (I was still running 4.12 I believe but had not yet switched from the install manager to Daz Central) scince then however, when I attempt to do this The list of Projection templates has mysteriously contracted from it's former length to only, none/ dresses> knee length/ full body/ hair> short or hair> shoulder length.
I've tried using the transfer utility with a number of figures, with other clothing that is already rigged and with freshly spawned figures and the list is these five options or nothing at all. I have attemped to uninstall and reinstall the program and the starter essentials kits that supposedly contain the data for the projection templates to no avail.
