Looks like DAZ changed the fonts on the store and forum pages. It looks lighter, more spaced out, with thinner lines. They've also dropped the multi-coloured head from the logo, so it's just text now.

Quite a few people disliked it this time three years ago, so maybe they're hoping everyone just forgot and would magically suddenly like it this time?

  • The "Einstein Tile" A geometric shape that does not repeat itself when tiled

Here is a link to a Jan. 2024 article in Scientific American bringing us up to date on the latest discoveries in non-repeating tiles, and a summary of how the "Hat", the first "Einstein Tile", was found.  In short, there are more ein-stein tiles such as the "Turtle", and a family of tile shapes that do not require a tile to occassionally be flipped (reflection), they call "Spectres".

  • Do The Doors Open in Polish’s Cyberpunk Prison Cell & Corridor ?

Honestly, given how common a problem this is these days, my policy is to automatically assume that doors, windows, etc. DO NOT open unless it's specifically stated that they do or shown in a promo image.  At least with most sets it's not that big a deal to swap in a parts wall from another set or a build-a-set kit, and I often end up doing it anyway because all too often the positions of the doors that do work don't make architectural sense (ie: windows on three of the four walls, windows on walls that should be inside walls within my overall layout, etc., lack of closets in bedrooms, no emergency exits/stairs in building corridors, ground floor bathrooms with huge bay windows, etc., etc.)

And let's not even get into lack of funtionality in other areas like unopennable refrigerators, ovens, dresser drawers, shower doors, curtains & showerheads that don't move, and my greatest peave, toilets where the either the lid doesn't open at all or there's a lid but no seperate seat, which has spun it's own forum thread that's been running since 2019 HERE.

I could be mistaken, but it seems like the forum text is even smaller on mobile now than it was a few hours ago. Wonder what it's going to look like by tomorrow...

  • Bought The Product-How to install in Studio?

bbelvedere0 If you are new to Daz Studio, you need to have patience, and learn how to use it.

Daz Install Manager (DIM) can install the content purchased from the store.

There is no need to import anything, you double click DAZ Studio 4.22 (64-bit) shortcut in Windows and after the program is started, at the left hand there is a panel with most of the content installed.

I don't know what you are after, Characters, Clothing, Environments and so.

In that left pane, you should locate what you want, when you click Characters per example, there is a down arrow, from there you can select more options for the desired character.

Same procedure for other assets you may have installed.

Make sure you double click what you want to use.

Now, look for this topic "Daz Tutorial: Getting Started", also there are built-in tutorials which are a great help to a better understanding how to use Daz Studio.

If not sure, come back and ask a question, someone here at the forum will help you, good luck!

If you are using Firefox then search your settings for Fonts and click the Advanced button. In there is a section where you can set the minimum font size. Other browsers should have a similar setting within their settings/preferences. Setting that to something like 16px (currently seems to be set to 14.2222px for comments in the forum) or more should help without having to zoom into every site.

Thanks, but as I noted in my second sentence: if I do that then the text on all the other sites I visit have annoyingly large letters. (Zoom in Chrome remembers what was selected so no need to zoom into every site)

Yes, that is why I suggested an alternative to zoom.

Zoom would be something like "Make every bit of text on every website 20% bigger" - that would do as you had mentioned and make even big text even bigger. What I suggested would be like "Make all text that is 'small' to be a set size but do not increase any text that is bigger". Maybe it still would not work for what you need but it is different to a plain zoom.

To me, it doesn't feel easier to read, and it doesn't seem to add anything aethetics-wise either (the bolded thread titles luck heavy and clunky).

Agreed. It is actually harder to read. Lower contrast relative to the surrounding white, so it looks blurry. It's all about edge detection.

Yes, it's definitely harder to read. I don't like it at all.

  • Coming soon: Mesh Grabber 4.0 [Commercial]

It is year 2525. Daz is now 100% compatible with advanced virtual reality systems to which users connect via neural link in their brains. Forum users teleport to designated discussion plazas or catch up on discussion broadcasts on wall-sized super plasma screens with multiple camera angles avaiable. 3D images now render within seconds, and the skin details of Generation 99 are good enough to zoom in to cellural level. In the corner, an old but not forgotten thread, "Coming soon: Mesh Grabber 4.0," still hangs, flickering lights like a broken neon from an era long gone...

Seriously, though, any news? Anything? I found myself using the original Mesh Grabber just a few days ago, and thought how nice it would be to have the new MG. I'm wondering if it's just stuck in the queue (forever?), needs extensive testing that takes time, got pushed back for fixes, or something else.

  • I am looking for a Brainiac headpiece

You can try else I will convert it to DS format.

Import the attached OBJ, with scale 10000% and standard DS orientation.

    Load a G8M character.

Run Transfer Utility Edit > Object > Transfer Utility with G8M as source and the obj as target and default settings (you can add a smoothing modifier, but that can also be done later)

The obj is now rigged to match G8M.

Apply surface settings. There is 3 surfaces: Base plate, lights and wires.

You can save to your library (if wanted) File > Save As > Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset (you have to choose a path, e.g. People > Genesis 8 Male > Accessories (or Props)).

It is zipped as forum won't allow an obj file.

  • How to Add Images to Post Body

I know how to attach them, but I've forgotten how to display them in the body as many do in the contest or the Render Your Buys threads.

  • Render your buys! Use buys from the current month and the previous month of sales

ETA: The renders. For some reason they never iloaded.

And now for my latest.Perusing one of the late July/early August discount selections, I found some things I'd missed before, including some G9 aliens, Arcturian https://www.daz3d.com/arcturian-hd-for-genesis-9 & Sidra https://www.daz3d.com/dav-sidra-hd-for-genesis-9-feminine who are just chilling and hanging out

Once I bought Sidra I had to see what she looked like with eyes. So, has this species taken sexual dimorphism to an ocular extreme? Are they different subspecies or 2 different species? Is the geograft a symbiont or parasite? A crown or a cybernetic device or both? IDK...Dangnabbit Jim! I'm an artiste, not a xenobiologist!* Giving her eyes wasn't easy. I couldn't just add any G9 eye texture to Sidra's eyes even though they show in scene tab as visible bones. After deleting the geograft. I ended up loading EG Kin & making all but the eyes invisible, then I Grouped Sidra, Kin, and the eyes so those eyes would stay in place. If anyone knows a simpler way, please message me. Notes: 1. You will have to use DS search for the Sidra skins and apply/remove morphs; they don't show up under materials, even after I reinstalled the package. 2.The eyeless Sidra has Sidra feminine dialed down and G9 base male dialed up.

Acturian was way easier to work with. G3 Clothes autofitted easy, with hardly no adjustments. One of the easiest figures I've ever worked with. My only complaint is that is the Scene tab the figure is labeled G9 not Arcturian, but that's picky. I recommend both characters if you do SF.

This looks like several different characters. If you have one good picture, do a Google image search.
