Hi RiverSoft and Community!

Bought MW Bundle a couple of weeks ago and had installed and reinstalled it several times through Daz Central and also Daz Connect. It presented errors that were fixed (at least once) and now again, I cannot load the script... any ideas?

I cannot load the script...had installed it through DAZ Central (several times to see if it was a Mercury Retrograde issue ) but the error continues to appear. Here it is the screenshots https://share.getcloudapp.com/JrugxGZY ;

So I'm noticing in Daz 3d 4.12.1 that my figures load in with materials but when I try to apply Materials to Clothing the Materials do not apply. I am using Daz central to load everything and running Daz3d from the open button in it. I'm at this point noit sure why Materials are not loading.

So now, as DAZ is going ethnic, can we plz finally have a duo of believable Native Americans?

Since native american covers two continents, do we mean Inuits, First Nation northerners, Plains tribes, people of the South West, meso americans, Central Americans, the various people of South America etc.  People always forget that the people of Africa, Asia, and the americas don't look as identical as the Scots and the Irish or the Swedes and the Greeks.

Huh? Have you ever lived in Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia, Greece, and the like to say such a thing? You are doing the same sort of phenotype reduction that you complain about others doing. I can assure you those people don't look all alike within their native countries or between them anymore then those other places you mention as not looking all alike. 

That is the joke since Swedes and Greeks do have phenotype differences and people don't notice the vast differences between the people of Africa, Americas, and Asia.  I once went on a vacation to London and Paris with my sister and one of my memories was seeing British Black people.  We tended to stare at each other because we were all Black but looked quite different and foreign from each other.  Someone in an another thread mentione how one of the characters looked like Travid Fimmel from the series, Vikings, a "proper viking".  Travis is an Australian with some English and German ancestry so perhaps some viking ancestry. I am African American with a large British component and with a measurable Scandinavian ancestry.  we look nothing alike.

OK, I admit I almost ran right over Bob Costas once as he was coming out of the Empire State building and me going in that building because he is so short and I didn't see him. And I also didn't believe he was Greek either because that's not the usual look for a Greek person like I'd seen on TV or movies. TV or movies though aren't something one should put any weight on.

I was a few times on vacation in UK too and once was asked to take a picture of a African American man and woman from Atlanta at the Tower of London in 2003 I think (I forget which year)  tiny chance it was you & your sister? Yes, everything is unselected until you select it.  Make sure to untick "Install after download" if you just want to download it.

Third; is it possible to download a plugin to a place you designate, and install it yourself, or are they packaged in a manner that you have to use either DIM or DAZ Central to get them installed?

Yes, they're just .zip files.

Here is the situation. There are products in the store which do not include a manual download. I've resisted them all up to now, when a Plugin was released a week ago that is only available through DAZ Central or DIM. 

Plugins used to be available in installers which the user could download and run themselves, but it seems evident that the company has no intentionn of continuing this pactice.

Ergo; I need some information on the use of DIM. *It* at least, comes in a downloadable installer. 

FIrst off; I have every intention of using it to downoad, and if unavoidable, allowing it to install the Plugin -- which I have already purchased -- and then immediately de-installing DIM, because I do not want it on my machine.

It is not impossible that I may need to go through this again if something else gets released which I cannot access with a manual download. Or I might concievably find a need to try to run the Beta version of Studio, which is also not accessible to the public through manual download.

 (OSX). I am really annoyed by the lack of documentation when you install with DAZ central

As a matter of fact, quite a few of them, as it has been considerably lacking in that department. We're getting a lot of Europeans and Asians, some Africans but there has only been lame attempt to depict the many Native American groups so far. I'd love to have North Am tribes, Aztequas, Incas, whatever, both in historical settings and more modern surroundings. But I guess my hope was getting ANY of these.

I have been using DAZ since version 2.  Making a backup of the directory once a month, just in case.

Now, for the last 9 months, DAZ is in the frequent habit of crashing when I do something as simple as using the mouse to move the camera, certain clothing and applying shaders now also causes an App Crash.

DAZ moved with me, across 3 desktops since the days of Windows 98.  Running Win7 now, I am planning to stay with Win7, maybe just maybe go to Win 10.  Its been about 4 years since I did a clean install of the OS, to wipe out the floatsam that Windows creates. 

My main HDD is a tiny little SSD, so DAZ is way too big for Drive C. 

DAZ is split with 5% of content sitting on Drive C, My Documents - and the rest is located on "H:\daz 3n4\3.1.2\Old Library" and "H:\daz 3n4\3.1.2\Old Library\People"

Once, I bite the bullet and do a clean reinstall of the OS and DAZ, how do I merge these directories so they all sit on Drive H ?

How do I set up the DAZ downloader (DAZ Central)  to only install to Drive H ?

I find Daz Central to be an impossible abomination. It just NEVER loads.

I wanted to install the new Daz on my laptop but couldn't find a way to do it without Daz Central.

Unfortunately I'd already deleted part of the old Daz via File Explorer because it doesn't have an uninstall facility and doesn't show up for uninstalling in Control Panel or even CCleaner.

I might download a copy of IM onto the laptop.

I dont use DAZ Central, I use still use DIM. Is there somewhere in Central where you can check/specify the Studio location?

Members here previously advised me never to purchase anything on DAZ before the day is about to close (exceptions are flash sales)... I now have learned this lesson the hard way.

That is exactly why I waited for so long.

Yeah, I rarely buy anything until at least 3 or 4 in the afternoon central time just in case there's some kind of flash sale that happens that needs a new release or they send out a banner like this. 

That is content which has been isntalled through Daz Studio. As long as the Content Management System shows the content as having been installed that way DS will use those files instead of any Install manager/Daz Central/manual install, so deleting the folder is likely to cause load errors. If you wish to use the files from other isntall methods make sure nothing is installed through DS itself before deleting any left-over files. I can't recall if, or how, you can filter the Installed tab of Smart Content for Connect Installs but you could try selecting everything, right-click, and select Uninstall if present.

3. The single install for DAZ Studio

Look in your Product Library page. I know the green buttons are labelled "Download ZIP" but they actually download the executable installer files. Scroll down a bit more and you'll see links to all the starter freebies that come with the D|S program (handy in case there's anything you missed earlier).

It's a bit ridiculous the way DAZ continues to give the impression that Central is The Right And Only Way™ to install everything, especially when so many people are having problems with it. Central was never supposed to be a replacement for DIM, it's a cut-down, simplified beginners' version of DIM — and it seems to be especially glitchy with existing custom content setups in multiple locations, like you have.

Yeah... now the cart price went to $25.65 (I also had another new item (the Quad) in my cart.)

 

The activity of blacksmithing is engaging enough for games and animations. A blacksmith would have to be muscular in real life, it's not like they are at a keyboard eating chips. I know there are still blacksmiths that ply their trade but not many and for most it amounts to a few strikes as a gang of tourist come through.

Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven had a blacksmith as the central figure, played by Orlando Bloom, which seemed kind of dumb. It's not about Orlando's skill as an actor as much as it was his body mass.

Now, if it were Russell "Fightin' 'round the world" Crowe, another Ridley Scott guy, then it would have been a little more believable than Orlando Bloom.

Yeah, I agree. I'm not seeing a lot of strength & stanima out of those shoulders. I'm expecting the movie wasn't actually about how to blacksmith though (I just looked it up and it's uh, a theme they've absolutely worn out so I'll skip that one). It's not easy to blacksmith though and I've never even wanted to try having watch on TV and in person. It would seem the biggest qualification would be an overwhelming desire to built something useful despite the stubborn resistance of that molten metal being incessantly beaten. LOL, the more I think about it the more respect I have for those blacksmiths.

can you recommend something other than to reinstall from DAZ Central?
