A flash sale on the 14th of a month?
I feel guilt.
If you have a set limit, like for THIS CHECK my Daz-Tithe is 3% or whatever and you break that and say, I'll get back to my limits 'next check' you've got a problem.
Some have a daily budget, some weekly, some monthly.
--------------
By changing eating habits and cutting out nonsense spending, you can make a decent budget for the week.
It's just how some people choose to budget their money. I have a separate bank account (w/ debit card) for hobby expenses and a $75 automatic transfer to that account each month. That money is to cover games, 3d stuff, hardware, or whatever. This way, my fun money doesn't interfere with food, clothing, shelter, etc. I can 'borrow' money to make an occasional big purchase, but then I pay myself back. There's also a separate account for my car and housing expenses. It's fun, it feels like I'm running my own little government just without nukes (so far).
But I think it's already been established that most of us have a problem. <Jeff Foxworthy voice> "If you spent more than $500 on a video card and your monitor is plugged into the motherboard's onboard graphics port, you might be a Dazoholic." lol
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]Just thought of something: would it be possible to have the generated morphs go from -100% to 100% instead of going from zero to 100%? I know we can do that just by unlocking the parameters, but it would be nice as an automated option to be able to substract the morph (for making small tweaks to a full morph or just to get diverse effects). If not, it's not a big deal, but it would be nice.
Struggling to properly rig Fibermesh Hair propHi,
You have the strands seperated in polygroups which is a good thing to also help you with splitting up the morph you did in ZBrush. Sounds like you did everything right.
You can use the action in DazStudio that is called Clear Selected Deltas From Favourits.
First use the MorphLoaderPro to load the entire Zbrush morph to the hair. Then do the following:
- go to the Parameters pane and find the morph you just imported
- click on the heart icon of the property to select it as Favourit
- switch to the Geometry Editor tool and open the Tool Settings pane
- select all but one FaceGroup (eg. strand) with the plus and minus icons
- right-click the viewport and select Geometry Selection>Convert Selection>Convert to Vertex Selection
- right-clcik the viewport and choose Morph Editing>Clear Selected Deltas From Favourits
Now everything selected is deleted from the shape of the morph. Next you can import the same ZBrush morph again and use the method like before with another Face Group unselected this time. Its obvious to rename the morph property for every new import.
Be aware of to clear the vertex selection in the Geometry Editor Tool Settings pane before coverting another polygon selection to vertex selection, because otherwise the new conversion is just added to the current vertex selection.

[PS]: insterad or in addition of using morphs you could also add child bones to the long hair strands to pose them seperatly.
Saving a dmc fileany cr2 can have a dmc file from the DAZ default one modified in notepad .
it just assigns morphs and poses to visemes
on the otherhand anything can be animated with Carrara mimic pro not just a cr2
it just needs to be an animation group and the visemes need nla poses assigned
so you can assign poses, grouped scene events, a wheel turning a ball bouncing, texture changes anything to visemes
Thanks for responding

Can you expand on that please- ie the bit about using notepad to modify the morph ???
The following is an outline of modifying a viseme as i know it.
When you load a Daz .dmc file it brings all the visemes into the clip tray.
To edit you load the clip the the NLA track and make it editable.
When done you save as 'new master clip' which is put in the clips tray.
So if you did this for all visemes and deleted the original ones you would have a new set of clips. Yeh!
My query was how to save these as a .dmc file to re use later ?
no you cannot sadly
only thing that saves a dmc file is Mimic standalone
not the Carrara plugin
which is why I suggested notepad
you need to look at the default one to see
it has morphs and or transforms listed for each viseme
you can swap them out for ones in your figure, this works iin Poser and DAZ studio too
Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.10.0.123! (*UPDATED*)There are no words to describe how much I hate this version. Really. No. Words.
Why?
Because I've submitted two tickets, sent reams of logs and posted about a problem with constant crashing and found in the forums that many others have had problems--some of them have been fixed but those fixes haven't worked for me. I have a large investment of assets from both Daz and Renderosity and I now have to export a scene before it crashes or it may never open again. I can work with the scene in Modo but have to rebuild all the shaders and the rigging never seems to transfer. It's frustrating because Daz doesn't issue patches and it's hard to tell from the change logs whether 4.11 will address these problems or just add another layer of complexity without making the program more stable. I'm running Mac OS 10.12.6 and I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB on a separate power supply, 16GB memory (about to swap out for 64GB--I'm hoping that will help), and terabytes of storage. I run Zbrush and Modo without any issues but Daz crashes constantly. Daz has been adding complexity IMO without addressing stability issues. Modo and Zbrush are far more complex and rarely crash--they load scenes far more quickly and their asset management is pretty straightforward. Daz seems to be all over the place and half of the crashes seem to be related to the CMS. I could go on but I'm just venting at this point. YMMV.

Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]OK, watched the video just now. Did I see that right? The Dog head shape was transferred to the person's head? Does this mean I can stick pretty much any head on any other body? And does it have to be generation specific, or can I cross generations?
If so, I'm getting ready to get my Frankenstein on... or Dr. Moreau...
You can not transfer morphs between figures (generations, male, female).
The dog was a morph of genesis.

Animals? There is an old kitten morph for the MilCat somewhere on ShareCG. I *think* it may be by Michael C but I could be wrong about that.
LAMH will give you screen lag, but rendering it isn't that big a deal, if you can get it to cooperate. I wasn't able to for several iterations of Studio. But I think it's working again.
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]Well I finally broke down and purchased a copy. Even though I have limted use for this product, I did have several figures with full body morphs only and I wanted to be able to use either the head or the body when needed. I tested this on the Ronen character which only came with a full body morph. I love the body morph, but not the head and was told my the creator that the reason they were not seperated is that it would create unsightly artifacts due to the nature of the morph. Needless to say that is not the case and this product worked perfectly and I am thrilled with the results.
Ronen on the left (no hair) and the Ronen body (Xmorph) only with my face morphs on the right
The images look excellent. Good thing you decided to buy it.
at LONG LAST a new DavidDavid always seemed a bit shorter and younger to me, so really, just a few dial spins can do this on even the base G8. I'm just not sure why people rely so strongly on Daz Originals for their characters. There are so many more great PA products including male morph kits so anyone can create their own personal unique "David" however they see him...
David 5 in particular had some nice definition without being overly muscle-y that can be hard to just dial with a few spins - think lanky or bony as a description. The default geneses are more just soft and undefined. I actually found david 5 invaluable as a way to add some difinition to all figures and make them less "soft" looking... Including most of my female characters. There IMO isn't really a main bodymorph that does the same thing, especially with out adding a bunch of muscle/abs as well. Mind you I'm not married to it having to be David, I'm fine with using a figure like Elijah to a similar purpose, or a vendor created character with a sculpt I find that looks sufficiently lanky and detailed
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]This is really awseome, thanks so much for the product. I used to have to do that stuff in ZBrush with morph targets and morph brush and there was often tedious manual positioning involved. Love the calculate position thingy and the configurable smoothing with adjacent verts.

Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]I rarely buy single morph characters, because I love to customize the characters and often dial in at different percentages and often want a stronger percentage for the body than for the face (or vice versa or sometimes just like the head or just like the body), so there are PAs who rarely get my dollar- even though I LOVE their characters (like the very talented RawArt). But this product is going to make it much more likely that I'll buy characters with single head to toe morphs than I previously would. In fact, RawArt's gorgeous characters are the first thing I thought of when I saw what this product could do. :) I'll definitely be buying much more of his products now!

at LONG LAST a new Davidgeneration 1 and 2 were basically identical, same mesh, but gen 2 had more morph channels. Gen 2 was really an udate to gen 1. Stephanie came along at around the same time as V2. and was just known as Stephanie. in the same way that the original David was originall just known as David, but later the 3 was tacked on to make him David 3 in a lot of his add on packs, as he ran alongside M3
Trend Setter Outfit for Genesis 3 Female(s)There is no built in morph to do that. You could make one in theory with a modeling tool.
Random question. Which (Genesis) character would you use as a starting point for Ronnie James Dio?Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I already have the face length morph stretched 200% (had to widen the parameters), along with a few other morphs that factor into this. I can stretch even further but that's when weirdness starts to creep in.
I tried the other textures, but the eyebrows are all wrong. Texturing is something I'll focus on after I get the shape dialed in. I'm using Vini's maps now, but if I can figure out how to make them look less smooth and maybe some very minor color tweaks... well that's new territory for me. I had hoped for something 'out of the box' but perhaps that's not currently an option. Plus I was hoping to keep this simple for others that might want to use it after I'm done (i.e. not require 8 different characters, etc.). There are others that are much more skilled than I at making characters, but I'm giving it my best shot.
I have a number of eye morphs going already, in an attempt to recreate how the crease on the upper eyelid is supposed to look, as well as the bags under the eyes. It's not perfect, but I've pushed my morph kits about as far as they can go, so I'm in D-Former territory now. I'm using a D-Former on the right nostril btw, in an attempt to replicate that assymetry.
There's a couple of areas that the various morph kits aren't touching, which is pissing me off. I have a couple of G8M morph kits besides the 'default' addon kits, but as y'all know you won't always get just the morph shapers you need. I know how to work with D-Formers, but they are what I consider fallbacks as they take time to dial in, plus if you need symmetry that might mean two different D-Formers.
A perfect example of an area that I'm having issues targetting is the area between the cheekbones and the jaw corners - there's an indent there that my morphs aren't addressing, so I'll likely have to create two D-Formers just for that.
I haven't adjusted rigging to shape yet, as I'm trying to get the morphs as close as I can before I do that. I've noticed that repeatedly adjusting rigging to shape can result in artifacts creeping in...
Anyways, I'm not there but as I said, I feel like i'm in the ballpark at least. Thanks for the additional observations, and I'll take a look at the areas y'all mentioned if I'm not focused on those already.
I don't think I'll have this done by tomorrow, but I'm laser focused on getting this done, and will return to other projects afterwords.
at LONG LAST a new Davidedit: Actually, Stephanie made her first debut in the very first Vicky and Mike generation (she was actually based on Michael 1's mesh). She skipped version 2 (generation 2), ...Are you sure? My recollection is that she came out during the 2 stage (which was, of course, essentially a morph expansion for 1).
No, Stephanie was there in the very first generation to my memory, although she came out kinda long after Vicky and Mike did (because she was based on Mike). I can't say it for total certainty though because I'm a fallable being, but to my recollection, she was in the very first generation ;).
Laurie
According to Wikipedia Stephanie 1 was a morph of Michael 1 and Stephanie 2 was a morph of Victoria 2.
Animals? There is a kitten morph (actually just a preset I think) in the following freebie: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/holiday-kittens/1579673
As NorthOf45 said, both the cat and dog are really old, with no real replacement from this store likely soon.
Ooh, thanks for that! The render the creator posted is adorable! I have to start using more animals in my renders. I have Mil Dog poses from fast grab in my cart right now.
And a stupid question about installing third party contentSo here's a question that I'm sure is very stupid, but I haven't seen the answer in the forums, or at least didn't understand the answer :-)
I have downloaded a piece of third party content. (I'm working on a Mac, btw) The readme in the file says that to install it, I should "Unzip and copy the data, People, and runtime folders to your "/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library" folder." Which is fine, but when I do that I realize there is already a folder marked "data" in the My Library folder. If I try to transfer the data folder from the new product, naturally I'm told that I can one have but not two folders of that name.
So, how do I get this to work ? Without, that is, deleting something improtant?
many thanks in advance.
