  • Using ZBrush Core and Daz

The jumping to the side probably means the model was moved - before you exported it from DS, if you used a different one, or in ZBrush Core itself.

The eye issue is probably related - if a morph markedly changes the shape of a body part then the joint centres need adjusting, otherwise it still pivots from the old position. Is the eye issue happening in shapes that don't move the body (or head) around, or only in thsoe that do?

  • Gregorius' Quest for Photo-Realistic Characters

Nonesuch00, yeah, I think mapping the illusory aquamarine iris color directly may be somethingt we may have to live with, at least if I'm to maintain the kind of easy control over eye color that I consider too important to compromise.  I may yet do some tinkering, though.  Is a straight-up green eye actually green, or is it a similar illusion-at-a-distance?  That'll help.

Anyway, here's another single-spotlight portrait, this time using a third-party morph that I don't think I've ever actually rendered before.  This is Indira from EJ's Ethnic Beauties pack.

No what happens is absense of pigment is a blue eye and as the density of pigment in an area of the eye gets higher to area where pigment are goes from blue to yellow to orange (amber) to brown to very dark brown.

Green, Blue-Green, Hazel  and those shades in-between are just varying mixtures of the of what happens in the 1st paragraph and illusions at a distance. The closest you'll see to a shade of green up close is hazel which is a green-brown color.

Actually I'm just going from people I know that I've seen their eyes. If you are going to make textures it is best you go to a more definitive source:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color

Although Wikipedia must be taken with many grains of salt often for something as dry a subject as eye color it should be OK but there are probably other sources you can use too if you searh.

It jumps to the same position - but not every morph seems to do it. I have also been having issues with eyes bulging and departing from the sockets when I pose them - but that also seems to be occasional, as if I am forgetting a stage in the loading of the morph.

  • Released: Boys for Shape Master for Genesis 8 Male (commercial)

It looks like I was in the Genesis 3 folder and trying to apply them to Genesis 8.

When I was in the Genesis 8 folder and apply different icons, I could see the figure changing. Thanks for your help.

great, thanks for letting me know. Glad you worked that out!
Btw, the folder structure when installing with Connect is the same except the first folder with the ID, but then the sub folders are equal.
The "label" of the morphs is usually different than the filenames you find in the folders on your hard drive.
The labels are more descriptive while the filenames do not always let you know what it is about, usually the enduser does not come in contact with the DSF files themselves.
That to your question in your other post.
Most of my morph products have a suffix or prefix in the label, like B4SM (Boys for Shape Master) etc. , that enables you to better find all morph dials when you type that in the search filter.
This also makes the name unique and avoids name doubling with other morphs installed.
    Cheers

  • Genesis Figures into Carrara?

Another basic Genesis question: Embarrased to ask, but can't find pupil dilation morph control, nor iris size. Can anyone point me to them?

    Thanks for your help,

    Rick

Depending on that you have those morphs installed:-

First of all click on Actor in the Instances-Scene tab. Next click on the Parameters tab.

Click on the the double arrow icon in the parameters tab to bring up the menu.

Scroll all the way down to eyes and click on it.

Then scroll down to Eye Iris size

Then scoll down to Pupil Dilate.

This looks like the original: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/katerina-for-g8-v8/121309

It looks like it was moved here and changed to be compatible for both G8F as well as G3F and also a "Little Katerina" morph added.

  • Katerina and Little Katerina for Genesis 3 and 8 Female Vs Katerina from Renderosity

From the Renderosity and Daz product pages -- you can find the Rendo page by searching Google for "katerina and renderosity"  -- it looks like the differences are that the Daz version has the youth morph, as mentioned, and is for G8F only, while the Rendo version was for G3 and G8 female with Victoria 8. (Victoria appears to have wandered off somewhere during the transition.)

  • so if an animation is saved using genesis it works on Genesis 3

So I got it figured out. Here's how you get Mixamo animations work with Genesis 8.

    1) Download the desired animation as FBX from mixamo (I used Aiko 6 as fbx avatar)

    2) Open up Daz3D

    3) Import the FBX from mixamo

    4) load up Genesis 1 figure

    5) select the fbx imported avatar and create aniblock from imported fbx animation.

    6) Copy it to genesis 1

    7) delete the fbx import

    8) Bake genesis 1 aniblock to timeline

    9) Save as Pose Preset (make sure to chose Animation Range)

    10) Open a new scene in Daz

    11) Load up Genesis 8

    12) Make sure you have this installed: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/176806/g3f-to-g8f-pose-helper

    13) Apply G3F Pose Helper morph to 100%

    14) Drag the .duf file on top of Genesis 8.

    15) Be happy that you found an easy way to make G8 work with mixamo.

I tried this but it crashed DAZ Studio for me. I probably didn't understand correctly. What do you mean by an FBX Avatar? I went to the Mixamo site and uploaded a base Genesis 1 (FBX) which was working fine in their animation window. Then I applied an animation, downloaded it to my PC and imported the FBX animation into a scene with a Genesis 1. All I could see was my DAZ Genesis and an animated Null box. I tried baking the animations from that to an aniblock but it crashed DAZ Studio.

EDIT: OK, I now realise that the FBX from Mixamo needs to be exported "with skin" so now DAZ Studio doesn't crash. However, the animation is not stable - it jumps around the viewport (not as part of the animation). So I still need to experiment more.

  • [Solved] Genesis 8 Female takes 6-7 minutes to load. Help?

Can't we go back to the good ol'days when morphs were injected/removed on demand rather than loading by default? Even after the figure loads, its really painful scrolling through the morphs list when one intends to use less than 1% of those.

I am just the opposite, I love I don't have to inject what I want anymore. I am used to the morph tree and can find what I need rather fast. I guess if you are only using less than 1% of the morphs (default figure?) then that would be beneficial, but I use a ton of morphs with each character I create

I'm with you. I remember back in V3 days when you had to load the mouth morphs, the eye morphs, the neck morphs, the face morphse, the torso morphs, etc. Sure you could leave out stuff you didn't want but the time to do all that manual loading was rough.  I'll take a slower load time over having to search for a morph I want and load it manually.

  • Geoshells - transfer body morphs to them?

It can be done, but the level of control is not as good as what you can achieve using other products.

The easy solution that a lot of us have used for years is to have apply a bodysuit with lots of morphs to the figure, then apply the clothing so that it is colliding with the bodysuit, not the figure itself.  The original Genesis Supersuit was a champ for this and there's a great video showing how the suit could be used to make radical changes to the another article of clothing here:

For sheer versatality, there's nothing that beats Zev0's fit control, which will not only transfer all of a figure's shaping morphs to the clothing where they can be adjusted independnetly, but it also adds a lot of other utility morphs and natural clothing adjutments like pants and collar down, bikini/bra strap slide, etc.  What's especially nice about FIt Control is that after you've done all your adjustments, you can then remove all the unused morphs to save on memory.

  • Geoshells - transfer body morphs to them?

Trying to make something similar to the hat and hair helper, for the body - is it possible to copy all the body's morphs to a geometry shell, so it can be used to 'push out' areas of the clothing, esp. when clothing doesn't have morphs for that action? I'm thinking of things like expanding waists, loosening legs and arms, etc. - I'm surprised by how many clothing items just suction themselves to the figure and have no such options. I figure if it can be done with the shell, then only 1 item needs to have the morphs, rather than, say, copying the relevant morphs to every article of clothing. Or is there an easier way? I also tried duplicating the figure and fitting the dupe to the original, so the clothing could then be fit to the duplicate, but, man, that really didn't work - the duplicate wasn't shaped ANYTHING like the original figure, even when I tried setting everything that was in use to zero.

  • Sakura 8

-chuckles - depends on what I am trying for.  I usually run between 25 -75 %. Now the eyes..I am sorry  but I have forgotten who has the morph Sakura Use Default eyes  to correct the normal eyes to Sakura style.. Cade?   Also you will find links to alot of 3rd party morphs on here for her/him. Yes I am saying him because there are male morphs as well.  We actually need a pinned post with a list of everything in here truthfully. Sakura's eyes have always been my pet peeve here.  Unlike Star 2.0's eyes they don't transfer for crap.

okay to give a quick example..  the female is Sakura 8 with other twitches but mainly  75% Sakura 8 with 25 % Yu

Now here comes the fun.. The male is  G8M with 25% Sakura 8 and 75% Kenji 7 dialed in with other adjustments.  Sakura uses her eyes  but G8M uses the default eyes morph.

  • Sakura 8

Okay, I'm feeling kind of silly...but how are you people blending Sakura with other morphs? I'd love to give a little bit of her style to a lot of characters, but I start cranking up the head morph, and her eyes automatically move out of their sockets, which is not that helpful? Are you all just using smaller amounts of her or what??

  • Released: Boys for Shape Master for Genesis 8 Male (commercial)

I have this product, plus all the required problems, but most of the time when I click on the icons, nothing seems to happen. So I must be doing something wrong.

I load Genesis 8 male into the scene.

I locate this product under products in the product library.

I click on the prepare icon and it says that the figure is now prepared. But when I click on the body shapes, I don't see the body changing. I have Genesis 8 male selected.

    So what am I missing?

I've also have gone to the Easy Body Shaping product and I click on some of those icons there, but I'm not seeing things change either.

I even tried deleting Genesis 8 Male and then readding him, but the icons don't seem to update the figure. (If you go from a child to a young man, shouldn't you see the body change?)

I would look for the morphs undering the shaping tab, but I don't know what they are called.

I have found the face morphs and they do change when I dial them.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
please try if the dials (when you dial them in directly instead of the presets) have an effect, like you did with the faces.
You should see the body change, it goes smaller etc.
The body dials should be located in either Parameter or Shape tab: Actor / Real World / Boys for Shape Master
You can also enter B4SM into the search filter box to get all Boys for Shape Master Dials listed.
Please also check if the Daz's Body Morph Pack is installed correctly and working. Those dials are located in: Actor / Full Body / Real World (for instance)
The Shape Master product requires the head and body morphs from Daz to be installed correctly and working, therefore please check if both are installed.
Same with the Shape Master dials and presets. I had a customer before who mas missing the Daz Body Morphs and he did not see any changes to the body. As you describe it, it sounds to me like the same reason.
The presets, do nothin else than dialing the dials in for a certain value. You cannot do much wrong there, when you get the "PREP" message G8M is already selected correctly.
As you said you saw the face change I assume that the Face Morphs are installed and working smoothly.
When you dial in one of the Full Boy dials slowly you should see G8M getting smaller and changing.
Please check the other steps as described and let me know if that helped.
    Thanks

  • [Released] Misumi HD & Signature Smile HD Expression for Genesis 8 Female

Another winner.  Is she around the corner or still a month or so off?

No release date yet but I'd guess 2-3 weeks.

Damn. Cash not sticking to screen. HD morph is separate too I hope; I love it that they are. I mean, like they are with Miriam and Sahel. Is Lyra's? Realised I don't own the character.

HD is not separate no, hasn't been for Sahel or Miriam.

The HD portion can be dialled in separately from the figure's shape. That is what I mean.

    Oh! Right, definitely.
