Daz Studio 4.14 Pro, General Release!
Where exactly is Fillament? Or is this another 'Windows Only' type deal, because I can't for the life of me find it. D;
- Real-Time Rendering
- Added a real-time physically-based rendering option to the DrawStyle Options menu in viewports
- Filament (PBR) - Implements the Filament renderer as a DrawStyle
- Requires Windows (currently), 64-bit, OpenGL > 4.1
- Automatic translation of applicable/compatible properties in the Iray Uber shader for real-time display
- Automatic translation of applicable/compatible properties in the DAZ Studio Default shader for real-time display
- ...
- Added a real-time physically-based rendering option to the DrawStyle Options menu in viewports
I'm also hoping it won't be long before we see it on MacOS
Filament is Official - Need Answers from DazI am wondering if Daz are planning on doing with Filament, what Poser has done with their Superfly renderer that is based on Blender Cycles.. Since both are open source renderers, and that Blender Cycles has the ability to use AMD GPU's..
Update 4.14 no Iray? (Solved)The one big change that I noticed is that the environment and tonemapper options are now in the scene pane, and no longer in the render settings tab.. The other thing to get the options to even show up you have to start a iRay render and they appear in the scene tab..
I wonder how that works with older sessions.
Found out that they are now part of the create menu, seems weird to me but has me thinking that Filament may have something to do with this change..

Nope - you just need to add the node to the scene.
Ahh k cheers for the info, just weird that they made this change and as I said above, I am wondering if it has anything to do with Filament..
Daz Studio 4.14 Pro, General Release!I find the moving of the environment and tonemapping options, from the render settings tab to the scene tab both interesting and head scratching.. What I can't understand why the change, and as for those options to even show up you have to start a iRay render..
According to the video (its out of date though alot of the titles/labels have changed) you add it from the create menu and then they appear in the Parameters tab
Ahh k thank you for the info, eitherway still strange to me why the change was made.. I can gather it is probably due to Filament being slowly introduced..
New product promo imagesAre they [new product promo images] rendered with filament?
If so, that is a huge step backward for Daz studio.
I shall stick to Iray until filament has a look that equals Iray render.

New DS Filament Render EngineI was wondering how I can get Filament to render the lights in an Iray scene. I've seen others posting their images with Filament and it appears to render the iray lighting where emmisives would be used but how are they doing it if emmisives aren't being rendered by Filament?
HDRI's and point, spot and distance lights work.
Thank you so much! In that regard with the exception of the HDRI, I guess it's just like 3Delight. Thanks again!
AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?
Alleghi qualche preview?
Anche io non ho speso niente, ho solo unito 2 GPU che avevo già, e ho ottenuto l'87% di quello che avrei ottenuto con 800€ (o 1200€ agli scalper) di RTX 3080!

New DS Filament Render EngineWith that said, ahem, it's not a complete substitute for texture-shaded, especially if you depend heavily on emissives for your lighting.

OH WOW. I was viewing this on my phone and i thought her hands were dog paws like she was a weredog. LMAOOO
Update 4.14 no Iray? (Solved)So Kepler is removed huh. I guess 4.12 will be my final version then (Geforce 770 GTX 4GB). I am not buying a new graphics card before I known which graphics card will support HEVC 10bit 4:2:2 hardware decoding (nothing supports that yet, it is necessary for videos from the Canon EOS R5)
Yep, it's not Daz' fault mind you, it's Iray itself having been upgraded. I was on a GTX 760 TI before upgrading, and I was constantly getting warnings in my render logs about Iray throwing a fit that support for my GPU was ending soon. I do wonder though if the new filament renderer works on older cards. If so, that old card of mine might have a new use. lol
New DS Filament Render EngineFilament looks like crap. I honestly don't understand why DAZ put time / resources into implementing this "solution" for real-time rendering. Unreal Engine is real-time and looks far, far better.
I don't know, I think this one turned out pretty cool. It's not Iray, of course but I really don't think it's "crap". And it took less than five seconds to render. That's amazing. :)
Right! That's what I was thinking. This is a great image as is and wouldn't take much postwork to turn it into an excellent image which is amazing considering the extremely short render time. I think Filament is a totally cool addition and I love it so far! ... also, I love that I can load and see the HDRI dome background! I hate that in Iray, I can't preview HDRI without using another utility but with Filament, I can and that makes me pretty happy.
New DS Filament Render EngineLike the bridges.. this is just another option for people. I've seen some great stuff out of it already, and I think like Iray, as people get the hang of it the quality is going to go up too.
Daz needs to flesh it out if it's going to be anything more than a flash in the pan, though.
I'm sure it will be :)
Having a limited amount of time on this earth, and still learning DS with Iray I don't see myself spending any time or money on Filament without hearing what Daz's plans for it are. While it looks very interesting, I use DS to make pictures, not just as a way to kill time.

New DS Filament Render EngineSo, to spell things out a little more clearly, Filament is not a replacement for Iray.
Thank god!

New DS Filament Render EngineDaz doesn't develop Iray, so they can't "optimize Iray further".
Yes, I know.
But they're partners. And partners, sometimes, strive to work better with each other.
I sense this discussion is taking a bit of a weird turn.
Filament is great. Daz3d is great. Not trying to cause strife to anyone out there. Really.
Cheers,.p
Filament tutorials/shaders/lights?I just installed Daz Studio 4.14 and I am very happy to be able to use my RTX 3080 card, finally but what is going on with that filament renderer?
I watched a tutorial on youtube and the skin and all the rest of it is very underwhelming, to say the least.
I will stick to Nvidia for the time being until everything is functional in the filament.
SOLVED:Can't select Filament (PBR) in Viewport drop-down (grayed-out)I just downloaded DS4.14 on my older laptop (8g RAM, Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000) and cannot choose the Filament option for the viewport. I am able to render with the engine set to Viewport, but it does exactly that: generating the image using the Texture Shaded preview, or if set to IRAY preview, renders without textures. I haven't been able to locate any documntation on hardware requirements for Filament. Just downloading DSv4.14 itself was difficult, since store links would just bring me to my product library, which did not show version4.14 at all. I used search in DIM to find and install. Any help or insight would be most appreciated.
