  • What is the best way to make symetric morphs in blender

    I found a solution.

    Mesh Options -> X-Mirror

Does that preserve the topology - vertex count and vertex order? If not it won't work as a morph.

As long as you use brushes that only move and do not create geometry as in any other program.

X-mirror is an edit option but only if the mesh is fully symmetrical.

  • DAZ Horse 2: Where to get the different breeds/textures? and iRay?

    https://www.daz3d.com/da-horse-2-iray-material-presets

DA Horse 2 Iray Material Presets

this is a great product, first you gotta select add your materials from the base, starter or pro options then you select from this to convert them really is a must have and then there are the centaur skins

edit and right now is on sale half price at $8.48

i have it in my cart since yesterday. the centaur is body only?

sadly yeah and you gotta have/use the centaur.

if you apply iray uber to the horse you can copy and paste them

or save as shader presets for anything

I know because I have used RAWarts Zebra one for his Rogan on the Horse 2 with a fairly plain head

can you do step by step..i'm not following what you are sayiung here.... what am i copying and pasting?

I am assuming you have the centaur and want to apply the shader to horse 2, if not this is irrelevant.

if you do you cannot just load a preset and if you want the same iray shader you cannot just browse for maps

so load both in scene, apply iray uber to the horse then copy from the centaur body and paste the shader on the horse body in the shader editor

no, i dont have the centaur. no need for a human headed horse frown  i just wanted to put all those Milhorse textures I have onto Horse 2, but the program for that is no longer available. The email for the creator does not work. I PMs here with no response.
So my next thing is to figure out how to make a milhorse clone or something like that ... or figure out how to change the Horse 2 UV mapping to accept the Milhorse textures ... but then you also hgave to deal with the shape morphs ... I think it probably a waste of time. The Horse 2 PRO is too expensive just to buy for horse types and textures. DAZ should have that as a separate package. I bought tone of the IRay horse utilities..not much of a difference in the render, other than the iRay one is a bit darker and crisper ...
A most frustrating experience as are a lot of things using Daz Studio. I spend more time trying to figure out how to use purchased utilities than creating art. i have spent a lot of cash on stuff that just doesn;t function all that welll without a whole lot of manipulation.

yeah sadly I cannot share it with you or risk doing so

with the clone and UV it is actually rather easy to transfer textures and shapes between the two

  • Mature characters for G3F

Considering the relative ease characters transfer between 3 and 8, why not use what gives you what you want/need?

What I will probably do is use gen 3 as it has the largest pool I like, and transfer back the ones I like from gen 8 to gen 3. Also gen 2 has many I like.

A morph on a bone can be ERC linked to others, just as the sliders on the figure can. it's an odd way to set things up, but not impossible.

  • RY Kian for Michael 8

@xyer0 Certainly not bored. :) I do have other commitments though. But I think the bigger problem is that I spend much more time working on a single character these days. During the Victoria 4 times you'd create a nice texture map, shape a pretty face, dial up a body morph and upload it to the store. These days it's HD morphs, normal maps, fancy iray shaders, real lashes and brows, etc etc. So while I was able to create a decent character in 1 or 2 weeks a couple of years ago it takes me at least 4 weeks now.

@DisparateDreamer Thank you. I think the eyes are the trickiest part of a character when it comes to realism and I always try to improve mine (but I'm never satisfied).

  • Mature characters for G3F

Considering the relative ease characters transfer between 3 and 8, why not use what gives you what you want/need?

... And back on topic: there have been a lot of releases that have encompassed 3 and 8; are there not some included there?

You could also check out: www.most-digital-creations.com he posts freebies in the freebies thread; I've had a couple of more mature characters from there.

I'm also curious about the mature thing; what details are missing? I know morphs can often give the feel of being older, so is it the skin textures?

Mature also depends on lifestyle, early-upbriging and probably genetics too.

  • Linked Morphs

This was helpfull, I found a very good solutions which also works on base figures.

I create additional to Morph A and Morph B a new property called Morph Toggle.

Instead of ERC Delta Add I use ERC [Keyed] with a Linear Type (see Screenshot).

I set the default value of the Toggle to -1% and the min value to -1%, too.

As long the Toggle Morph is -1% it is disabled. Starting on 0% Morph A is 100% and  0% on 50% both are 50%.

  • Does Aiko 3 still need love? AKA Any interest?
    • What software do you use Aiko 3 primarily in?

    Carrara

    • Which is your favourite renderer for A3?

    Carrara Native Renderer

    • What type of characters are still needed for A3? More realistic or more toon?

A3 has realistic and toon morph versions

    • Any morphs for ones who just have A3 base? A3/A3 Morphs & Maps, Kioki, and AikoToon.

I recommend Kioki most of my renders have kioki morph

    • Does there need to be a Hiro 3 companion for A3 products made?  That would be idea

Lost in translation cannot understand this question but if you are looking for a companion for a3 other than hiro I recommend these below

    Aiko 3 guy https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/Aiko_3_Guy!  or Aiko3_M3, The Aiko3 MAN!  https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/aiko3-m3-the-aiko3-man-/33463

    • Is Aiko 3 too old?

Circa 2004 yes is old like me

  • Eva 8

Can anyone who has bought Eva 8 be bothered to apply her skin to a different character (without smile lines / nasolabial folds) and post a facial render (no expression) so I can see if the folds are in Eva 8's texture or just her morph? If so, thank you!

@xyer0 Here you go.  Left hand is Genesis 8 Female with Eva 8 skin textures, center is Eva 8, right hand, just for kicks, is Eva 8 with Girl 8 skin textures.  Yeah, it looks like the folds are part of the skin texture.

I looked directly at the face textures for both Eva 7 and Eva 8 in Photoshop. Eva 8 does have a very subtle bit of a line on either side of the nose. Eva 7's textures do not. But frankly, it looks to me as if postwork removed the lines; The skin in that area looks less detailed than the skin around it. In fact, the complete Eva 7 face texture looks "soft focus" to me, where the Eva 8 texture shows the details of skin pores and such. I personally like the Eva 8 face texture better, but I frequently render my female characters without makeup. Here's a visual comparison for you, side-by-side.

  • Linked Morphs

Use ERC Delta Add with a scalar of -1, and set the default value of the controlled morph to 100% - just be aware that a) that will then load at 100% everytime the item loads, so not something you want to do to one of the base figures (especially not if you plan to share or sell the results, though you could add an ERC Multiply link to an on/off controller) and b) users will be able to edit the local value to change the behaviour.

  • Linked Morphs

    Hey,

is it possible to link morphs in a way that do have exactly the opposite percentual value?

    E.g. I have Morph A and Morph B

I set Morph A to 50%, Morph B is now automatically set to 50%

    I slide Morph A to 30%, Morph B is 70%

    I set Morph A to 0% Morph B is 100%
I there a way to do this?
    thanks

  • Custom made clothing not rigging to the genesis figure

You must always model the outfit to the base figure shape.  If you need it to fit a certain morph as well, then you make a copy and adjust it to that shape which can be loaded in as a morph for the original item and linked to the figure morph.

  • Faceshop 8 and Victoria 4.2 Problem

I am using Faceshop 8 and Victoria 4.2 to generate characters because I like the results that I'm getting a lot better than the ones I'm getting from FaceGen (I have the latest version of Facegen Pro).  After I have created a character that I really like I save it as a scene file and triax weight the figure so that I can save it as a character as well. I load either the scene or character and work on it

The problem is that when I close that scene or delete the character and then open a scene with a ddifferent V4 character in it, it reverts to the previous character or some kind of combined morph monstrosity. The original figure or sccene is destroyed even though I have not hit the save button. The only work around I've come up with is to leave the aptly named DIM running, uninstall the Postgre CMS (Win 64) and then reinstall it before I change the character or scene.

This is not a big deal, just really inconvenient. Why is this happening? Is the C++ code being altered?   As I have said, I have a work around but if anyone has a better solution I would sure like to hear it.

I'm running on a new Dell laptop and a new Dell Desktop so the computers are not the problem. Perhaps I've caught DIM from Daz. Actually I love the program especially the fact that you can make just about anything fit anything else. Just get frustrated sometimes.

  • During Sitting Pose, Bones in Pelvic Area Disrupts

It's not a wrong default, it's that there is a correction morph that was always on instead of being on only when the main morph was applied. I think if you redownload and install it will be fixed without needing to adjust anything manually.
