Looking for Consultant - add 3d obj garment to daz models in different Poses
Are they modelled towards a Daz (base) charatcer?
THen you can import them in Daz Studio and use transfer rigging.
Then it will follow the basic poses of the character, although might need to adjust weightmaps.
Alternatively if the mesh is welded and not too dense, you can add dForce to the clothing, and let the simulation handle the adjustments to the pose.

Thought I'd update you. I did end up exporting user data & Re-importing metadata. I found Jay Versluis' instructions on his blog & they were very easy to follow if anyone else runs into this. https://www.versluis.com/2022/11/restoring-smart-content-and-resetting-the-content-database-in-daz-studio/
I still ended up having to force convert everything but the new metadata did enable the scripts' filtering to remove almost all the non clothing items. The conversions themselves went very fast, even on my 8 year old laptop.
I prioritized outfits I have missed using the most and am glad to have them back. I am now trying out my re-newed clothing, on G8 too. How is that working? So far, so good. The G3 converted pieces autofit to G8 just like any made-for-G3 clothing, with a little help from the converter's fit morphs. And they all look good with either base Iray shader or Iray shaders from my extensive collection of sets applied. (Yes, I plan to try your 3DL to Iray converter on the original textures.)
Thanks again!
You're very welcome! I am glad you are happy with your new converted clothing!
Limbs going through ClothingYou want to fix corrective morphs (pJCM or cbs) on this skirt, but you don't have to do so... If you do want to fix it, you need to know at least one modeling / sculpting tool, e.g. Blender or ZB.
If the char in your scene is G3F or G8F, select the skirt while Showing Hidden Properties, you may find a corrective morph : 'pJCMThighFwd_115_L' or 'pJCMThighFwd_57_L' in Parameters pane - Currently Used. If it's G9, it should be 'body_cbs_thigh_x90n_l'. Then you export the skirt to obj file with Base resolution and fix it in external application as above mentioned. Then use Morph Loader Pro to import the fixed obj file to update the corrective morph on the skirt.
As for dForce, turn on 'Start Bones From Memorized Pose' in Simulation Settings pane before simulation.
Testing hair with Diffeomorphic 1.6.2 and problems with hair shinehave a diffiomorphic problem that i could find nothing about so maby i can find help here.importing daz model works fine UNTILL i make a MHX rig. BOoM.... all hair bones go away. on some hair sets the import comes completely bald...no hair at at all. What buttons should I set ?? thanks in advance.
Blender Doesn't Keep Smoothed MeshSo whenever I apply smoothing modifiers to clothes, then try to import the whole model to Blender with DAZ to Blender Bridge, the modifier doesn't carry over. It's set to base shape matching, and I've also attempted to bake the smoothed mesh to no avail.

If you reset the database you should just need to reimport metadata I think.
Thanks, unfortunately, that only seems to work for DIM files. Connect files are not on the list.
Daz Connect doesn't reimport its metadata like that, if the database goes then the only option is to go through reinstalaltion (which should, as long as the directory has not been chnaged, see the existing files and not redownload them). Do check, though, that you still have the parent folder of /data/cloud/ selected as the Daz Connect data directory or a regular content diectory as not finding the files will also stop them from displaying in the virtual Daz Connect content directory.
Thanks, yeah, I didn't changed the directory and it's still the one referenced in the Content Directory Manager.
I tried reinstalling things, but DS fails to see the files are already there and downloads them all from scratch at an incredibly slow pace compared to DIM/Central. I dissabled firewalls and antivirus just to try.
Installing offline products doesn't work either. I know how to install those, but it's not working anymore.
Smart Content only shows the DIM files.

In one of the files it mentions a metadata error with OOT Everyday Spring Style Hair for G9 - I just dont get how this would matter if my Daz Library is not even listed as a Content Library.
I checked that cloudlog you attached. As per my experience, metadata in cms has nothing to do with DzCore let alone causing a crash resulting from access violation (RAM related).
I analyzed crashdump as well, there's no explicit clue... but just a DzWavImporter function (not a plugin) within DzCore. I have no idea about that so far...

JCM process creating duplicate formulasHi there,
I've followed WP Guru's JCM tutorial and gotten fantastic results on the bracelet I'm working on that has dangly bits I don't want clipping into the hand when bent. However, at some point in my saving process I am getting duplicate formula errors after closing Daz and reloading. Steps followed:
- Load G8F
- Import OBJ of bracelet
- Transfer Utility bracelet
- bend hand all the way, use Morph Loader Pro to load the JCM obj I scultped with reverse deformations checked
- Set lower limit of JCM morph to 0%, dial JCM up to 100%.
- Open Property Hierarchy and drag the Hand bone's bend into the JCM morph's Controller 1st Stage slot
- ERC freeze the Hand bend. The morph now follows the hand perfectly.
- Save Figure/Prop asset for the bracelet.
If I close Daz and reopen, loading the bracelet into the scene throws the duplicate formulas error. In the log file: "Duplicate formula found linking armband_hand_jcm & ZRotate"
Also worth noting, after acknowledging the error, the JCM no longer interpolates with hand bend. It just jumps straight to 100% for any non-zero value on hand bend.

anyone else unable to install Mango Movement collection for Genesis 9 parts 1 and 2?Sounds as if the Connect files are broken, certainly, but that shouldn't affect DIM/Daz Central once the referecnes to the Connect versions are gone. Try working offline in DS, find the entry for the Mango Moves product in Content Library>Products>M, right-click on the container (the folder) and delete it (this just removes metadata, no actual files). Then try reinstalling through DIM.
Clear timeline?Yes, as a 'feature' Scene Subset saves all frames data on the timeline. Your case is a bit complex as there's a dForce simulation result. You may: (Save your scene file first.)
1) on frame 30, select the dforce garment, set its Resolution Level to Base. Export to wavefront OBJ file.
2) marquee select the key frames on frame 30, copy and paste to frame 0. Delete all other frames except for frame 0.
3) Import OBJ file to the garment with Morph Loader Pro (Reverse Deformations: Yes + Overwrite Existing: Deltas Only). Dial the imported morph to 100%.
4) Save to Subset.* If there're multiple garments, replicate the same steps of export / import.

Was it always required to have a DAZ account to download DS? My account says my first purchase was in October 2004, which was when 0.9 was available, but I had downloaded it before that, and I'm pretty sure the first version I used was 0.8. Can anyone recall?
They used to have put a lot of content out on promtional discs out that were included in magazines and even books, so it wouldn't have been hard to get items that way.
that's actually how I found DAZ but found Evocia Carrara 5 first on a Magazine disc
had no idea DAZ even owned Carrara
got D|S2 later on a disc with V,M,H,A3
learned they were "Poser" figures too and Carrara could import them too which was cool
upgraded later to D|S3 when found was free that's when I joined DAZ
Thumbnail Saving - Daz Studio 4.21.1.103+A preference has been added that controls which thumbnail images to generate, and which extension to use, when saving DUF assets. The preference can be found on the Content page of the Preferences dialog, displayed when the Edit > Preferences... (F2) action is clicked.
The preference is handled in a tidy/orderly way when using one of the "- strict mode" options. This is due to the fact that not doing so can yield unexpected/confusing results. If both types of thumbnail images exist, the discrete extension (
*.duf.png) will be the one displayed in asset views. The preference controls which type of thumbnail to save (and consequently, which type to clean up in "strict mode"), not which type of thumbnail to display. The type of thumbnail to display still functions the same way it has since it was first implemented - the inclusive extension (i.e.,*.png) is a fallback when a discrete extension (e.g.,*.duf.png, *.dsa.png, *.dse.png, *.obj.png, *.fbx.png, etc) file does not exist.Saving Thumbnail images

Smart content directory detectionDid you lose your database (cms cluster directory) on the C drive when you had computer problems? If so, you should try reimporting all metadata to restore as much as possible. If you had installed products with Daz Connect, I don't know how to recover that without reinstalling all that content. I suggest that you never use Daz Connect. Don't ever log into your Daz account from inside Daz Studio and turn off autologin in preferences. Install missing products with DIM. I still think your content directory manager is not right, as I posted above, but I don't know if those issues contribute to your problem. If you map directories that don't have content anymore, I don't think it should matter, as long as you have the right directories in the right formats sections.
Can we make linear as the default interpolation?James said:
Dartanbeck said:
In Carrara we can. In fact Carrara has a Lot More tweeners to choose from than just Linear, Constant and Bezier - and even Linear and Bezier have controls we can tweak!
However, if we cannot change the default tweener in DS (I haven't seen a way) worry not. Soon you'll get So used to selecting your keys and switching to Linear, it won't even slow you down!
Just a little hopeful optimism for you! ;)
A - Is carara designed for DAZ3d?
B - Is it for animation?
C - Is it slow too like working on daz?
D - Can we go back and forth carara and daz3d easily.A - No. Carrara was obtained by Daz 3d from the same company who made Hexagon, and I think they may have been developing Bryce at the time too.
However, the last version before Daz 3d acquired it had a plugin for the Pro version that allowed folks to import Poser figures.
When Daz 3d released their first verion, Carrara 6, it no longer needed the plugin. We could add our Poser Runtimes to the browser and Carrara's browser worked much more rapidly than Poser's.
When Daz 3d released daz Studio 4.0, they made public a beta version of Carrara that could load Genesis 1 and all of its goodies. I loved it. The result was the Carrara 8.5 Upgrade, which was the last version we've seen so far.
B - Carrara is designed around the idea of animating anything and everything that we can do in Carrara. The tools are fantastic! There's also an aniBlock Importer for Carrara. aniMate 2 feels to me like as if the engineers at GoFigure were designing a tool that could bring Carrara's NLA (nin-linear animation) system (clips) into Daz Studio. Carrara has a very different experience. Tweeners are editable and there are a lot of tweeners to choose from.
C - Carrara is outdated. I hate to say that, but it is. So while the act of designing animations in the timeline is very smooth and quick, playback is nowhere near realtime. I used to open Daz Studio and view the aniBlock motions using aniMate, then go back to Carrara and import them.
D - Carrara 8.5 Pro is only fully compatible with Genesis 1 and earlier Daz and Poser figures. Genesis 2 works fine, but the Auto-Fit cannot tell the difference between Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, so we can't really auto-fit from one to the other. However, Carrara users often refer to Daz Studio as the Carrara plugin. We can perform the clothing fitting in DS, save as a wearable or scene subset, and then Carrara can load it correctly. There are workarounds for the other generations of Genesis, but I never use them. What makes Genesis 3, 8, 8.1 and 9 magical is lost within Carrara. But some still use them.
Going from Carrara to Daz Studio is the burden unless you're just making clothes, props, morphs, etc., (Carrara is a modeler, UV Editor, 3D Paint, too). The only way I've done it is via OBJ Export.
There is an OctaneRender plugin for Carrara, but it's not free. I really like Carrara's render engine, but it's more akin to 3Delight (not PBR).
Carrara has physics, particles, animated primitives. We can load AVI or Image Sequences as textures. We can make those animated textures in Carrara by rendering them.
Daz 3d and Poser figures need adjustments to their shaders once in Carrara. One of the biggest burdens (besides moderm compatibility) people face. But it's easy to get decent shaders in just a few minutes.
If none of that turned you off and would like to know more, check out my site. I have a Carrara encyclopedia going on in there! LOL
Check out all the Content that comes with Carrara 8.5 Pro (which is really inexpensive for Daz + members!!!)

I'm not sure what you mean by the different library types.
In Red Library, Cut is a 'real cut'. No asset link will be created. The file(s) won't exisit any more in its original folder and its Content Type + Category will be all gone.
User-data vs Vendor data - though I thought I had tested that after the first failure (with a user data file).
Yea ~~ Though I can see no source code of DS, I think they check the file's metadata before Cut/Copy/Paste.
