  • Stylett High Heels for Genesis 3 & 8 female(s) (commercial)

yeah, the community has nothing against heels in general, just when they come with outfits that are not practical with heels, LOL.

These are great. I prefer heels on my virtual (and real) women so I picked these up to show my support of more in the future. I do agree on the material zones, they need more options. I know SP likes to assign maps that define the materials like metallitcity instead of letting you create just material zones, but that is not helpful in DS and should be avoided IMO. Looking at these, there should be at least 5 material zones (heels, metal, insole, and 2 or more for the uppper material to show toes or not)

I'd also like to see some morph options like heel shapes/hieghts. I own all the heels from Arryn at Rendo, but it looks like they are moving on to clothing even though there are plenty more styles that haven't been done.

If you need ideas for the next project, I'd like to submit these and keep up the good work!

Ya I agree I added material zones on the next pair of heels I am working. Tho they can still be added if necessary and is quickly done.

I haven't added options like a plateau or thicker heel on purpose, the textures are getting stretched and ya I don't like that at all. Some people may don't care but I did put so much work in every polygon, I didn't want to mess it up :D thats why I added so many morphs, so they look nearly perfect on alot of characters.

So I am going to add material zones for the next pair of heels but I doubt I will add these kind of morphs.

and thanks alot for your suggestions, I like them :)

  • Real Skin for GreyAlien requires which Alien?

Yes, but that only gives the basic shape. The Real Skin shape is what I want. As Wendy said, per its description it says:

"Worry no more! Real Skin for Grey Alien is a PMD Injection to add a new over all body shape to the grey to look a little more "classic" grey alien..."

That is the shape I want. I was only going to by the Grey Alien for Genesis if I can get the Real Skin shape injection/morph to work in Daz. If I can't use the Real Skin shape then I'm not going to buy either one.

  • Unreal Engine rolls out Real Time Ray Tracing

And what percentage of DS users have a pressing need for numbers of images in a short time frame? Animators and those that do webcomics would benefit the most, since they do want these things. The average DS user probably wouldn't see the need, especially
if it means spending money on an updated graphics card.

Realtime rendering tech is very exciting but you have to parse the variables
befor thinking its that relevent to the  average Daz user,

I doubt Daz will make any internal investments in a realtime renderer of their own
    Why"reinvent the wheel"??

Reallusion has publicly announced that they already have a working live link to unreal
much like the existing Maya's live link
    in the video below:

A largely wasted effort  IMHO,  because while 100 percent of the iclone user base are animators but I would estimate only
about 4 percent actually export to other  3DCC programs for rendering.

Even  with the Free availability of unity & unreal
the majority of the Iclone user base prefers to stay in the frankly, myopic little comfort bubble of Iclone.

AAA game companies Like Activision/Blizzard or Epic will NEVER use an Iclone
Avatar or Daz genesis model in a title  release  as every thing is tailored in house
    per title.

The indie market wont rush to buy Iclone just to have a live link to unreal IMHO.
They would be limited to the expensive Iclone ecosystem content or have to buy the expensive
Pipeline version to import their own content befor "live linking" to unreal

I seriously Doubt Daz would even bother with an official bridge or Link to Unreal or Unity
considering that most Daz Studio users wont use the built in Daz studio morph sliders but
instead depend on PA 's to Make "Characters" Like "Bethany"
    for them.

Looking at the Maya video above makes it clear that you will not be able to sit in your Daz studio comfort bubble
    completely insulated from
LEARNING TO USE the unreal engine.

And those  few Daz users, so inclined, are not waiting for Daz to "get into the realtime game"
They are already exporting Daz Content to other engines and doing the
work themselves just as us tiny minority of Iclone users have already been doing
with the pipeline versions of iclone and other engines.

Personally I don't see any benefit to DAZ though. See I work in game development and
interact with gaming communities daily when not working with my projects in this area.
In my experience the majority of users I see in the gaming communities are all about what
they can get for free or share with others which hurts studios and small developers.
Since it's amazingly easy to export rigged DAZ assets out in .FBX format, they
show up all over the place and are shared everywhere I go. All this new tech does
it make more users want to skirt eulas and copyright and use DAZ models in game
engines instead of DS. Bottom line, Unity and Unreal win, Daz loses.

And the indy game devs would not care about any Daz Live link to unreal
They are GAME developers not Still render producers who
Ultimatetly will still need a professional animation platform (Like Maya )
to send animated figures to Unreal
and Daz studio is not such a platform.

  • Newborn, infants and blankets and clothes for them!

I just used that for a picture!  Turned out pretty well, too - I thought the Genesis baby was a good starter model, and with all the Genesis morph sets, it had tons of flexibility.  Just needed clothes et al.  Strangely, fantasy skimp wear just doesn't look right ;-)

    sadly DAZ culled this

what I use is quite decent

  • Help for Horns

I loved Elfen Lied :-)  Sorry, no fan art... but I do a lot of demons/faerie folk type stuff, and I am always looking for 'accessories'.  I have wishlisted the Thistle set (thanks for that!)  I really would like to see horns with more material areas, especially near the base so fur, flesh, or metallic textures could be added... and maybe accessories or morphs so that you could add the jewellry-type base to the horn, or metal/jewellry-tipped ends?  That and horns with more ridging details... of course, I also want fits so I can use them painlessly with G/G2, so I know that isn't happening ;-)

More anime-styled bits!  That, and interesting gloves (with long, flared petal-like cuffs, or morphable) are my current wishes to be tossed into the ocean of Daz.... just dreaming.  I really wish I knew how to model stuff.  The I'd go into my corner and not bother anyone ;-)

Here are some pics that might help,

The thistle ears are solo and the G2f horns are shown on one of my fawn characters. I snubnosed one in case thats the look your hunting for. It has easypose scaling but each bone can be scaled individually to fine tune a rounded cone feel. (I manually paranted it to the bump morph of Tara2 Horn A but it can be poped into the side horn morphs as well)

  • Aging Morph

I don't have the product for Genesis 8, but I do have a couple for the earlier figures (Genesis and Genesis 3). I am going to assume the Genesis 8 version is similar. Generally most morph sliders will allow you to go up or down (more or less), although some may have limits imposed and be locked, and the Growing Up morphs are no different. Making a figure younger is, in fact, exactly what the Growing Up morphs are primarily designed to do.  If Limits are on for a given morph, they can be turned off by adjusting that sliders properties (click on the little gear icon and than uncheck "Use Limits"). So the answer is yes, they can be used to make a figure younger, their primary function. However, it is important to understand that aging morphs are going to be based upon what the creator of the morphs has deemed to be "typical" features of aging -wattles, double chins, wrinkles, etc. But not all people age in the same way.  Given the foregoing, using the age morphs, the virtual people will be aged in certain ways, to a certain degree. Making a figure younger will reduce their stature and will create the opposite of typical older features, naturally: for example, invariably the breasts will be reduced, the face and body will become pudgier, the eyes larger compared to the face, the nose smaller etc. In other words, depending on how far back you wish to go, the results may not be exactly what you expect. But you can always further adjust the results with any other morphs for the figure that you have, to create your own variant.

As long as I can make this shape below I'll be happy. Can you tell me if its a slider morph and is it for the head and body combined, or are there separate morphs for head and body?

  • Matt Castle does some stuff

Haha I love the hair and the pose.  I really like the coverage on the bra on this.  It can be an interesting experience with bigger cups, if  they are cut too low... Whici is fine in certain situations but if I'm going to the gym or hiking or something, I prefer that eveything stay where it belongs lol.

Actually, I'll own up to reducing the coverage a little; it's a nice set, but it's originally for G2F, and attempts to fit it to the extreme G3F morph* ended up trying to entirely envelop her upper torso. Hopefully between Blender, dForce and Fit Control, I ended up with something reasonable.

    * The base model being RawArt's Lekkulion that I've then stacked a few tweaks on top of to drift the body shape a bit back towards human**. As far as some versions of the legend, and in particular the ones I'm building into the mythos I'm developing, Medusa was originally a cursed human, so I wanted the gorgon species as a whole to have a reasonable grounding in humanity rather than trying to be too alien of appearance.

** Aaaaand as part of that, yes, she did end up rather more (ahem) "well endowed" than the original model, but that's me trying to add some variety to character shapes. Left entirely to my own devices, every character would be moderately toned, small chested and freckled.
I know in practice the fact that the Lekkulion model clearly hasn't got an overabundance of body fat would make a large cup size unlikely, but as those details are part of an integral HD morph, there's not all that much I can do about it that wouldn't break the model in some other way (or look incredibly weird). I can live with it within suspension of disbelief - after all, fantasy creature.

Welcome to the Art Studio forum, Matt.  Impressive start. I'm looking forward to more of your work.  On the topics of hiding your first render and boobs, I don't think boobs will lose interest any time soon, and your first render was quite tasteful.  RE: second render - if gorgons are still around, I bet they rock out in their undies, so two enthusiastic thumbs up for that.  Your thread is off to a great start.

Yeah, probably overcautious, but I wasn't of a mind to test the moderators (or the more puritianical users) with the first post in a new thread.

If I may be permitted to bring up a slightly negative subject, try not to judge your thread by the number of replies.  Far more people lurk without commenting than actually comment.  Doesn't mean they don't like what you are doing or don't find what you are sharing both informative and worthwhile.  In general, the more you participate in the forum the more people will feel comfortable commenting in your thread. Not an absolute relationship, but often true.

I'm not expecting a roaring response - when it comes to the science-fantasy stuff, I've already done quite a lot of art and setting development in less sophisticated programs (and will continue to do so, as complex scenes in Daz would make my mediocre computer commit suicide*) so I already know that I'm sitting in my own little niche.
*Quite aside from DS's poor import options making it highly impractical to transfer important existing characters in.

I certainly know I occasionally weird people out with it, as a lot of the theme of the setting I'm piecing together is "abnormal normality" - while the artificial intelligences and various fantasy creatures occupying the world can and do have quirks of their own race, there's still a fundamental humanity to them. In most cases, I end up treating them as human, which has occasionally meant various rude comments from people who assume it's all some personal kink, and questions like "who is this character even meant to be attractive to?". That particular one resulted in my having to deliver a fairly stern rebuke that no character in the story was put there for the audience to lust over - I haven't necessarily made any given character intentionally unattractive, but at no point am I expecting that the audience has to be physically attracted to any character. I have no idea what this (presumably heterosexual male) person makes of male characters in a story.

That said, I can't be surprised that some people are wary or put off. I see the kinds of things that my artwork has been favourited alongside on DeviantArt, and I'm frequently deeply weirded out myself. (What I particularly wasn't expecting is that the robotic characters are clearly more of a festering ground than the fantasy creatures - with the centaurs and the like, they might end up favourited in collections of topless human/animal hybrids, but the robots are liable to end up alongside women being forcibly uploaded into sexbots, which I find a deeply disturbing power fantasy).

For the most part though, I'm quite happy crafting the setting on my own; it's interesting writing things like the "rules" for Artificial Intelligences or magic and then playing those things out to their logical conclusions.

  • Freebie: How to create a V4 clone (and transfer other figures) for G8F (now with video!)

So how would you transfer a morph from V4 to Genesis to Genesis 8?

In theory, one sets the G1 or G8 figure's V4 clone to 100%, fits it to the V4 figure, and dials up the morph.  Hide all meshes in the scene except the morph-recipient figure (at Base Resolution, SubD Level 0), and export that mesh as your new FBM.

    Results, however, may vary.

  • Real Skin for GreyAlien requires which Alien?

The character morph for the "Real Skin for GreyAlien" add-on will not work in DS as DS can't use pmd injection.

As for the skins, the materials are mc6 which means poser materials. They won't give you the same result in DS as Poser material system is very different, and you would need to load some of the maps manually (like displacement maps) and probably adjust a lot of settings.

How does tthis deal with necks, for example most of Xurges scifi suits have a high neck/Godet which never work well when autofitted and the figures head/neck is moved will this solve that problem?

    Thanks

I've heard Xurges suits are really difficult to convert any which way you do it - plus all the problems with armour anyway. I've got several, this is my first attempt with the ATACS suit on M4 and G8 BUT I've not tried using the converter morphs or RiverSoftArts' suggestion of trying other conformers yet. Looking closely at the suit before transfer it has its issues - including a few bits of poke through even though I've used the base M4.

Be gentle with me, I've never posted an image here before! And sorry they're a bit dull, the materials are still the original PS versions.

Welcome!  Thanks for posting the images.  They look good though I do see the difference in the neck.
