  • Advanced Joint Control Learning

    Hi All

I'm looking for some advanced information about Joint Controlled Morphs using either the Property Hierarchy or ERC Freeze method .. or both

Specifically, looking for a way to apply a morph when two joints needed... say arm up and back or arm up and forward.  One morph... two joints

Also:  How to set the start and stop of a joint that determines when a morph begins to be applied.  (Such as in a calf muscle deformation that you only want to begin when the calf actually touches the back of the thigh)

I've looked and find bits and pieces of how to's that are all pretty basic.

  • No HD, No Peace! Or... A little peace? I dunno...
I was the one who complained, and I still believe that it should be optional. But that's just my opinion.

Why? How could something marketed for professional work possibly justify not including the HD model? I make VN's as a way to make extra money and all my renders are HD and it is very obvious when I don't use an HD model. Do you buy pro bundles? What do you do with them?

It's the difference in what we consider the best value for our spent dollar. I don't use HD in my renders, unless it's something universal like the muscle morph sets or similar, and you seem to prefer having the figure specific HD included and lose something that is less useful to you. Which is why I'd like to see a weekly or semi-weekly build a bundle option be implemented in the store.

  • No HD, No Peace! Or... A little peace? I dunno...

AFAIK, the HD add-ons are optimized for their targeted 'figure'. As such, they're probabbly not that useful for me, as I intend to tinker around (mix and match) with various shapes. Also using it means heavier on the system-resources. So while HD is no show-stopper for me, it's also not an incentive for me to buy the bundle. As such I may prefer something else in place of the HD morphs.....

I use HD morphs (not Daz ones as I don't buy em) on various figures; they usually add extra realism, sometimes they don't suit the figure shape, but this is unusual.

Not Daz ones?  May I ask where?  When you say 'various figures', do you mean, still, variations on G3/G8?

well Poser has HD morphs too and can interpret the DAZ ones too on DSON imported compatible figures

theirs are not encrypted but AFAIK work in Poser only

anything for DAZ studio is not legally possible  (if it even can made)  to use without being a PA.

Once you move out of DAZ studio any number of softwares can have some sort of HD morph implantation, Unreal game engine one example and no doubt Maya and Max proprietary to that software.

    In a word, phooey.  :-D

Circle-less cleavage gets my vote! Always particularly helpful when using non-human or robotic characters which use G8F as a base figure and need the 'breasts gone' morph dialled in.

  • Iray - Cutout Opacity - White is not the same as None?

Thanks for the information, though it is bad news.  Seems very limiting - you can't expect good results from cutout opacity except on things with no real thickness.  I don't see a way to workaround this 'feature' to achieve what I want.  I could delete some faces to reveal the surface underneath, but I would like the edges to look more 'organic' i.e. less straight line-y.  I can 'do' a geograft, but have yet to figure out a way to get them to follow a full body morph correctly.

  • Head morph from a 3d model

    Hello everyone

I wish to consult you on a question.

I use facegen to make  genesis head morph from picture, now I wonder  is there anyway to make  head morph from a 3d head model(obj or any other 3d format)?

    THX.

  • Duplicate files?

The errors would indicate a problem with a piece of content, and if it's a conflict between two pieces of content it will mean that one definitely isn't work correctly. For example, I ran into a morph conflict (two morphs, in different products, with the same name) and as a rsult one of the moprhs simply wasn't loading - renaming fixed this.

  • Duplicate files?

The Cannot Find Target errors are no problem - they just mean that you have Michael 7 but not the Genesis 3 Male Expressions (I think) so the correction morph to make them work nicel with Michael 7 can't be hooked up, but you don't need it so no loss.

The vertex count errors are a problem - they indicate that the morph affected is not set up correctly and will not work.

There aren't Duplicate Files errors  -there are Duplicate Formula and Duplicate ID errors. Without knowing which you had it is hard to ofer any suggestions.

Which what I had? Formulas? ID? Morph?

Should I be worried? As I said, the image loaded normally. Do I have simply morphs that won't work? Should I look for that?

I get these errors as well sometimes- Just ignore it. The scene will load fine anyway!

  • Announcing: Daz Deals Browser Add-on

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere in this thread...

First, thanks for this amazing extension - it was exactly what I was looking for!  My question has to do with the Hidden items (fantastic feature, by the way).  Is there a way to transfer that list to a different computer?   I have been creating a hidden items list on my laptop but found that those did not automatically populate on my desktop even though I am using Chrome on both and are logged in and supposedly syncing.

There is currently no way to do this.
The easiest workaround I can think of now is to go to the "Manage items" tab on the options page to list the items that you have hidden. Save that page as a file on your computer (control + s). Transfer this file to the other computer load it, and go through the items one by one and hide them. I understand that this is not the best solution, but transferring the hidden items to another browser is not so much a technical issue, rather one that poses serious ethical questions. As such, we haven't decided what the best way to handle this should be.

  • How far modification/morph can be made to Genesis characters via GoZ in Zbrush

If GoZ is working for you thats fine. If something goes wrong with some brush that alters the geometry you will get notified by the time you reimport with GoZ to Daz Studio that you only can add a new object to the scene instead of a morph to your figure.

i didnt select to replace the morph but create new one.

This is new to me so they've added a dialog to replace some kind of morph I wonder what morph gets replaced. Well you can combine those 4-5 different morphs with exporting an OBJ and loading it with Morph Loader Pro. If you want to get serious with morph creation there is no way around using Morph Loader Pro.

I know a great thread from where I've learned most things about creating morphs with ZBrush and how to use Morph Loader Pro.

TUTORIAL - Creating a Genesis series Full Body Morph for DAZ Studio Pro 4.10 by RKane_1

Thank you @syrus_dante will look into morph loader thing

If you are an adventurous sculptor, you could start from scratch and create your own character in Zbrush or your app of choice (starting from a ball and building up)  This would of course result in a completely different topology from a Genesis figure.  You would then need to wrap the Genesis topology to your custom sculpt using specialized software.  I highly recommend Wrap3 ( https://www.russian3dscanner.com/).    This will get you back to a Daz3D topology and you can import back into Studio for re-rigging.  This way also works for human models you see in other markets like TurboSquid.

Hi @drzap .Thank you for the tips and compliment. I love to sculpt and modify but only from base mesh that i can find. but im not an artist just a hobbyist in 3D and learning the ropes. Making a character from scratch will be a nightmare or god knows when I ll complete. lol. Although it would be wonderful if i or anyone can do it. I wonder if stylized character are easier to sculpt from scratch?

Gorgeous!  I love the color mix with the frost covered trees, like the wolf has a natural camoflauge.

  • SWOLE for Genesis 8 Male: Fibo – Advanced Muscle Deformation

Is there a way of scaling back the effects of the control morphs for "SWOLE for Genesis 8 Male: Fibo – Advanced Muscle Deformation" rather than going and tweaking each individual morph? The reason I ask is that for some poses, usually when lifting the arms above the head, the control morphs go to far and really distort the arms. If nothing else it would be nice enough to have a listing as to what each control morph effects. Most of the time I just have to scroll thru, with "currently used" selected and adjust the morph and see if it has any effect on the figure. Sometimes very hit and miss.

  • Missing Clones, and other disappeared functions

Here is the situation. I am trying to build a reference document of the characters which I've been building for various projects over the years.

Most of these are Genesis 1 figures. A random few are Genesis 2. The projects they were built for were done mostly from about 2012 on up to comparitively recently, but there was a big push around 2015. They were all saved as scene files. Some of them I've not opened for a couple of years.

So. Okay. First problem; there's the usual issue of opening a scene to discover that the program can't find the textures, or even some of the various components of the outgit or whatever are missing. Reinstalling usually fixes that.

However. I distinctly remember that back when G2 first came out, there was some way of switching the UVs of G2F so it would accept G1 or V4 textures. I cannot recall what it was. I think it may have been an add-on purchased in the store. Or it might have been a procedure of opeing and saving the texture, or a figure with the texture and doing something to make it usable by the G2 figure.

Can anyone remember what that was? I know there was a way to do it because one of my character models which has been in use between the dates of 2014 and 2017 was a G2 morph with a V4 texture. I used it in several illustrations for a couple of projects, and now I cannot get the texture to apply, nor can I find anything in the surfaces tab to enable me to switch the UVs to V4.

Second problem; when I try to reproduce the costume which is an old M4 outfit, I find that I am missing the clones. There is nothing in the fit to dialogue which recognizes M4 as a viable import source. I know that I've fit that coat to the figure before because I used it in illutrations. But now the clones are missing. Can someone list the products which included the clones for gen4 to G2. I know I have them, and can reinstall them if those have managed to get shot off as well.

Anyone out there have a good memory?

Updated, Upgraded, Safer, Free mcjBend script for Daz Studio

that's an old script but it wstill works fine

i added a safety precaution and help features

with the old version, creating a bend-morph on a subdivided surface could

make your scene file un-loadable !!

actually when i created this script i think it simply refused to create morphs

on subD objects ... maybe not, maybe it's simply i didnt test it for this
