This final set of examples is demonstrating the M4 to Genesis foot fix. The blue figure is Genesis and the green is Michael 4. I used M4 poses in both examples. I am hoping this same foot preset will fix Genesis 2 Male feet, just as the V4 foot preset corrects both Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 females. We will see :)

I also applied the V4toG1 hand fix on Genesis in these examples, just to see if it would fix a M4 hand pose. It seems to work, but I didn't want to claim that it would when putting the product together. Until Genesis 2 Male is available, I don't want to promise anything for M4 hands, but off the record, you should be able to use the V4 presets with M4 poses.

There is a plain labcoat here...

You'll have to join the club, but after that you can get everything they make for free. They have Gen 3, Gen 4, Genesis and Dawn items as well as props and more.

    Best of luck!

And the file size comes out to 375 MBs. And takes near 10 minutes (on my i7 solid state hard drive) to save.

I created a fantastic scene so I'm very happy with the products.

So I'm not sure if I should expect such large file sizes when I'm NOT saving everything internally.

    Cheers!

External will create a much smaller file and save faster - as it will leave the file dependency where it was brought in from - and so will reply upon the content library for certain information, like texture image files.
I normally save externally and I compress my saves, which adds quite a bit to save time.

Externally saved files and locally saved files are both good for reducing system overhead, but I think you're confusing externally saved file and locally saved files. What you're describing is locally saved files, as the files are left in their location.

With externally saved files, Carrara will want you to save all the textures in your scene to a folder, and will also ask you to name them.

Ah. I've investigated this and downloaded it from Optitex. It didn't occur to me that, of course, poncho's don't have arms! Naturally the T-Shape start pose will not work properly in this case. In fact, if you look in the zip file you will see that there is a StartPose.pz2 file. If you put this somewhere where DAZ can see it, e.g. in the Runtime/Libraries/Pose folder, and create your own folder there, called something like "Poncho Start Pose", you can find it in the Poser Formats area, then run it for Michael 4. The pose, though, is actually just Michael 4 with his Shoulders down 50 degrees (see attached image), so you can do this manually before loading the poncho, and your animation should now run properly. Good luck!

if u have Genesis and Michael 4 shapes then Genesis can wear thongs and stockings and panties made for Genesis females. But you need to buy Michael 4 shape.

Do you use Poser or Daz Studio 4.6 or another program?

If you are looking for something specific to the Michael 4 shape/mesh, then I am sorry but I cannot help you further. Hope this helps

In appreciation for many of Luthbel's products, I wanted to share my latest piece. "The Games" which utilizes Luthbel's

Ad Gladio for Michael 4 twice on two Genesis figures. While I just paid full price for this item Aug 26. This item I think is a steal at 30-50% off. Wish I could afford Cthulhu Rising today. Oh well... next March maybe.

This piece went through many revisions but I am happy with this final one. Critiques welcome.

    2 Genesis

2 spot lights with god rays behind the attacker, pointed a Target Helper Object just in front of the attackers face.
(When I spaced the spot lights a little farther apart, they created some WILD flame like effects in the background. I loooooved it, but it didn't quite fit with what I wanted.)

I feel like almost everything in the Shop is geared around female characters. I was trying to create a male character to use as a reference for some of my artists (I'm designing a science fiction card game) and it was frustrating trying to figure out what products would work with the Male Genesis figure, or even to find things that were specifically designed for males.

It's true that the vast majority of new releases have been female-focused, but that isn't always the case. Last year there was much more balance, and there probably will be again once M6 is released. Any Genesis hair or clothing will work with male Genesis characters (even female stuff, like this). With AutoFit, you can also use clothing designed for Michael 4...it often works quite well.

Anything in particular you're looking for and not finding?

  • WINNERS ANNOUNCED: Carrara Challenge 3: PARADISE LOST AND FOUND.

    Entry #7

Title - Homage to St Michael Wounds the Devil - this is my final entry

    Artist - Diomede64

    - 3 original or modified items with notes on creation/modification process,
    1) Clouds
    2) armor for M3, helmets and weapons for M3 and M4, and shield for M4. Modeled and uvmapped in vertex modeling room (devil’s pitchfork is a spline). Shaders are procedural.
    3) used vertex grids to construct the terrain foreground and the ocean. Procedural textures.
(also made a custom brush used in the some of the renders)

    - Content credits
DAZ Michael 3, Daz Michael 4, and a brush from the carrara brush set from GKDantas and deviney - available in the Daz store.
Wings are the winter queen wings from Poser 6.
    - General process description
Found a classic painting related to Paradise Lost. Edited the mesh of M3 in vertex modeling room to make his arms and legs more muscular and face more aquiline. Modeled and fit armor to morphed M3, and attached to hip in animation tab. Posed M3 similar to image, and used the weightmap brush in the vertex modeling room to fix minor poke through. Posed M4 similar to devil in image (modeled helmet, robe, discarded shield). Modeled clouds from vertex sphere, reshaped using magnet tool, then smaller distorted vertex spheres were replicated on surface of larger sphere. Once grouped, those objects were then replicated on a long arched cloud dome to try to give some depth. Used spot lights in the far corner to try to get a yellow tinge to far middle clouds and purple/bluish tinge further out to the sides. Used combination of glow channel, bump channel, and difuse to try to make look cloudlike.
Rendered several images in non-photorealistic render room. Chose a few images that had some elements that I liked (these included one that used a scratch brush available in the DAZ store and one custom brush that I made per Antara’s instructions). Brought the chosen images in Photoshop and copied them over each other. Sequentially used the erase tool to choose the elements that I liked from each image. Did some minor touch ups with the pen tool.

  • DAZ Runtimes

Drag and drop will be the fastest way to consolidate.

There's no "clean up my computer button" for this.

Select which directory you want to use, and just drag the runtime from the others to there.

Be aware that you may break scenes, as the relative locations will no longer be the same and you may need to completely reconstruct them.

Thanks. Though I think this will take some thought. Since each runtime has a Geometries, Libraries, Textures, etc., folders, it's probably more than just a simple drag/drop....especially if you're gonna use individual runtimes by category to sort your content. Or whatever....I forget how people were doing this.....Arghh.....

It's not as confusing as you might think once you understand the layout.
Here's a rundown i did on another forum recently explaining the runtime structure, and partly my organization.
I'm putting together a tut that goes into more detail, and will post that within the next day or so.

Everything goes in a runtime folder.
Whether the runtime is a sub folder or just put on a drive doesn't matter.
And the programs don't care if parts of content are in one runtime or another.
As long as the directories are mapped.

Here's the basic layout of what a runtime should look like
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Geometries
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Textures
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Camera
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Character*
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Face*
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Hair
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Hand
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Light
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Materials
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Pose
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Props
    x:\{Mapped directory}\Runtime\Libraries\Scene
*these two folders actually get renamed to Figures and Expressions, respectively, inside daz and poser

As you can see, there are three primary directories within a runtime folder.
Geometries: Where all the OBJ files should be.
Textures:Where all the Shaders should be(poser materials are seperate)
Libraries:where all the clickable stuff goes.

Folders within textures and geometries should never be moved any where but to a rutime\textures, or runtime\geometries folder respectively.

The libraries sub folders should have the following:
    CAMERA: CM2
    *CHARACTER:CR2
    *FACE:FC2
    HAIR:HR2
    HAND:HD2
    LIGHT:LT2
MATERIALS:mt5 and mc6 predominately. These are poser material files, and generally don’t work in daz.
    POSE:PZ2
    PROP:PP2
    SCENE:PZ3
*The two directories get renamed to Figures and Expressions respectively within the programs.

    Now here's the rub.
Any of those file formats can be in any of the directories, including the base Libraries folder.
And you may have duplicate named files in multiple folders.
Such as hairs appearing in hair, character or prop.
    They are generally different items.
One is an HR2, the next a cr2 and the other is a pp2. and may function differently.
You'll literally have to check each accordingly.

Basically as long as the content is visible in daz or poser, and it works, the companies don't seem to care how it's placed.

    Moving things around....
As i said any of the file types within the libraries sub folders, can generally be placed any where within the libraries folder. including the libraries folder itself.
The exception is when there is actually a named folder beyond the basic ten.
Such as the Morphs folder or python.
In most cases those are additional information for certain content.
It may be a script for adding morph dials to a corset, or python scripting or or or.
You'll want to maintain the relative placement.
That is, wherever it falls within the runtime, it needs to stay there.
Doesn't matter if it's in another runtime, as long as that runtime is mapped.
Such as the morphs folder may be in runtime.
It needs to stay in runtime, and not be placed in a sub directory.
If it's in Runtime\libraries, it needs to stay within the libraries sub directory.

Currently i'm working on consolidating the Geometries, textures, and the random folders into parent folders.
Geometries is in Objects, textures are in textures, and the random folders is in crazy freaking content creators folder.

Each maintains the required structure as far as it needs, with nothing more there.

Now as far as putting the content in the correct place, hair in hair etc, that is completely up to you where to place it.

What i'd recommend is to start with a desktop folder to put the exe, zip, dim file into.
once there, restructure accordingly, but don't move anything to your working directories.
Save it as a new zip/rar etc so you don't have to use the Exe later, or go through the work again.
This is something else i've been doing as i clean out a failing drive.

There is one last thing to keep in mind.
Uninstallers usually don't work after this kind of customization.
so you'll have to manually uninstall the content.
That is where the readme's come in, as most have a file list.

If you significantly change the layout, you may want to make your own file list to refer back to in the event of needing to remove it.

And lastly if you are feeling rather ambitious, you can always edit the cr2 files and change where it draws the files from.
If you do decide to start messing with this, always make a back up of the initial file first, then edit in any text editor.
I've found that notepad++ works the best for this.

Something else, is write down how you want to organize.
It'll make it easier to do as you go, if you have a plan at the start.
For instance, Under Character, Add the directories Base, characters, and clothes.
Base gets the base figure(s) and nothing else.
Characters gets all the add ons. add sub-directories to taste.
ANd of course clothes gets clothes.
With clothes, for each item it gets the texture file put in a material(s) sub.
I use this layout as i have parent folders for each of my characters, Victoria 4, victoria 3, michael 3, michael 4, etc.

My daz content is consolidated into a single directory, but has subdirectories to the nth degree.

The real advantage to getting and staying organized is that it makes the workflow a lot easier.
Instead of having to scroll through dozens of pose files just to find the add on texture for a certain outfit, it's right there with it.
Everything that comes with or is part of a certain outfit is in one folder as opposed to being in character and props.

I won't kid ya it'll take time to organize on the folder level, but once you do, you won't need smart content, cms, and you will find that your production goes way up.
I used to spend more time looking for things then i did actually creating.
Even though i'm still organizing(nearly a TB, and 3 months in), the speed of my setup to final render has dropped significantly.
The key is to always organize when you get new stuff.

    hope this helps

  • looking for V4 M4 content

Hi, I 'm hoping maybe someone can help me. I'm working on a video for a friend's song, and I need some, hopefully free, content for Victoria 4 and Michael 4.
I need 2 male African American Characters. I have 2 but they're not too attractive. The videos about a love triangle, so I want them to be a little more appealing than the Guys I've found. I already have the Girl.
Also, Hair, It's taking place in New Orleans around the 30's, see pictures here-

I know the hair is much harder to find for free . So if it's at least a low cost item.
I have a dress I'm satisfied with but if anyone knows of any free textures for the "Morphing Fantasy Dress" that might work I'd apprecite it. I need suits for the Men.. or just a vest. I have some pants and a shirt I could use, but if you know of any I'd still like to know, since they're not the best.
Also a Bowler or Fedora hat would be great. Or even a Boater hat.
And lastly any backgrounds that might suggest New Orleans. Doesn't have to be exact. Just trying to get a mood here.

I know it's a lot to ask..and especially for free but I had to try.:)I figure if I can at least get some of it, it would help.

If you don't know of any free content ike this, but do know of some low priced items, please let me know.
    thanks

Can someone post a render with a V4, M4, or Genesis prisoner near the bars so we can see the perspective...in the promo pics for this Dungeon and Dungeon Hall the bars appear like they could be too spread out... I don't want my criminals escaping.

It seems capable of detaining a full-scale Michael 4, but there's not a lot of latitude for downsizing. Waifs and urchins are respectfully invited to visit a more age-appropriate dungeon.

Witness the bemused and slightly envious expression of poor Jack Shim[1], as he contemplates the pending triumph of the inimitable Durgle Twins[2].

[1]Jack is a standard-issue Michael 4 phenotype. He's also an inveterate philanderer, who was simply going about his business and doing whom he does best[3] when surprised by the gendarmerie.

[2] The brothers Durgle are scaled at 98.8% of M4, with thinness dialed to 0.31. In their defense, it must be noted that they are not so much hardened criminals as dedicated practical jokers, sharing between themselves a startling breadth of vision and a universally undervalued reputation for finesse. They've suddenly been captivated by the siren song of foreign ports of call[4], coincidentally slightly ahead of the wrath of the city's Prince, himself notable for spectacular displays of creativity when reckoning with scofflaws, rowdies and ne'er-do-wells.

  • URGENT enraged, DAz STUDIO or Genesis?

Just for clarification - generation 3 figures (Michael 3, Victoria 3 etc.) are standalone figures. So are generation 4 figures (Michael 4, Victoria 4 etc.). But generation 5 figures (Michael 5, Victoria 5...) are not standalone, they are all morphs for the Genesis figure (which is since the appearance of Genesis 2 a few months ago called Genesis 1). Genesis 1 is a very versatile figure that can be morphed into anything - male, female, child, monster. The newest generation 6 figures (Victoria 6, Gia etc., no Michael so far) are morphs for a figure called Genesis 2 Female. This newer Genesis is once again gender-specific as older pre-Genesis figures were, and a Genesis 2 Male is probably in the works.

Just posted these up at ShareCG, in case there's any interest... they're for Nadino's Mach 1.6 Bodysuit (which was based on joequick's Mach 1.5 suit). The material presets are for DS (both .dsa and .duf formats), but all the maps are there for the Poser peeps to work out.

Nightwing also wears the M4 Trekker boots; I've included a preset for them as well. The mask is from Joe's StreetLVL Justice set.

The Flashes also use Joe's Nadino Mask and bits from his Golden Age Heroes set (neither of which are currently available, but it wouldn't hurt to try asking politely, else you'll have to find your own workarounds), as well as aztecmarco's Head Wings.
