  • diffeomorphic texture scaled downed

    The error for multires is a limitation in blender. The multires modifier can't always unsubdivide correctly, so when this happens it means the HD mesh can't be imported as multires. You can import it as base mesh or true HD, meaning HD without multires. Then you may want to update to blender 3.6.5 and diffeomorphic 1.7.2 for more stable versions.

  • Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 released

    @Padaone I have reinstalled everything. Geografts and diffeo even blender.. Also everything works fine in daz, its just not working when I import to blender. There is no geoshell nodes. I even deleted everything I mean all blender files or diffeo but when I install again everything same. I suspect its because of global settings section. Even if I clean install them again they are still same settings. Where are they store and how can I delete them and clean them? I also should say that other geoshells works fine. Like I have tried gen 9 nipples and navels geoshelss or genesis 8 dictator or golden places they all work its just g9 genitals. I think I will reset my PC from fresh start if I cant figure this out.. Thats so strange.

  • I am about to go Unreal on you all!

    Thank you to Daz for reinstating my thread here. I apologize for posting so many links. I should have thought that through a bit more.

    I am settling on the items I want to purchase to augment using my many Daz assets "possibly" in Unreal.

    I have decided to hold off on motion capture side of things and go more towards basic function and import.

    I am soul searching; do I want to make mostly stills/scenes or animations? I really like making still scenes. I am not much of a portrait kind of artist.

    I would like to do both scenes and animations, but rendering in Unreal I am so used to setting up my scenes in Daz and I really like how Daz makes my renders look.

    For stills and scenes maybe I can just export my Reallusion figures into Daz already posed? And I need sculpting tools... 

    How will the skins export/import?

    Well, I will have more options. As time goes by, I believe the lines will blur between these 3d programs, meaning, more interexchange.

    Whole scenes and universal figures and clothing... Standards. 

    And then there is Zbrush, I think they make that program hard on purpose. laugh

    For now I am not getting the AccuFace Profile for Motion LIVE Plug-in (iClone 8)

    or the, + Headshot Plug-in 2 for Character Creator 4 + iPhone LIVE FACE Profile for Motion LIVE Plug-in (iClone 8)

    I have decided instead to get the ZBrush Face Tools Plug-in for Character Creator 4

    Considering I have 10,000 assets native to Daz Studio, importing figures to Daz might be the way to go for stills.

    and doing animations in Unreal could be another possibility.

    The Unreal bridge will sure comes in handy.

    We will see how the FBX export from Unreal holds up as well.

    Lots of considerations.

    I exported a Daz figure to Unreal and he looks like he has 1k skin, not pretty at all, something went horribly wrong along the way or the Unreal lighting is terrible.

    And I need an atlas to figure out how to render in Unreal.

  • What exactly is Daz To Unity Meant for If Daz Stuff is Polygon heavy?

    Tried tafi, Couldn't get character from daz to work properly. But did figure out how to export each piece of clothing separately using this script.

    But I just use the unity bridge, and don't export/import again. I just delete the figure and bridge export pants etc by them.

    For hair, I am using mcs hair (low poly and has lods) just add the hair to the head bone - but can't use them if there head changes shape (and if a mnorph changes the height) . I Might try and find some low poly hair I can add the morphs to for this. The msc hair works pretty good though.

    dforce sim doesn't do anything, just the point stays in place while the rest of the item moves as it should.

    Nope... especially after you auto-fitted this G8 Veil on G9...A couple of ways...you may try some tricks as below:

    1. With "Simulate from Mem...", yes the simulation will turn slow especially when there're multi-pieces of garments on the figure with Smoothing Modifiers. You may multi select those garments and turn Enable Smoothing - Off. If the simulaton is fairly slow on your machine, you even can save a Wearabe Preset for them except for the Veil, then delete them before simulation, it'll be much faster. Then load Wearable preset back to the figure after simulation.

     2. For some frquently used poses, like the pose in your screenshot, anothe trick is to save the dforced result as a morph (an interim shape...) for re-use as well as saving some time for a future simulation : a short video of showing you how to do that: https://mega.nz/file/2KYxjYja#U9ZEdxJdueQhQlMyUwOpNeqwKOd6wIg0vZxy3HwBPzQ

    3. If you know a modeling / sculpting softwear like Hexagon or Blender, for instance...you can fix the distortion in Blender and import the morph back.

  • Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 released

    Last night something happent and something get broken I guess. Because I cant import dictator or golden place materials with diffeo. It was working just fine idk what happens. Not its just importing textures without shell materials. I have tried all import options (material settings extended pricble, single princble etc). I tried to uninstall and re install diffeo but didn't worked. Tried with different characters but its same. It works fine with genesis 8 characters. So Im not sure what is happening. Im asking because Im confused where to check.. Anyone have any idea where should I look for solution? I also tried copying my old material from old blender file to new one but it looks like new imported mesh doesn't have uv for it. No dictator uv or golden place so idk what is my problem excaly that's why I cant find solution.

    I mean I don't get dictator or golden place shell material node group with gen 9 but it works with gen 8 or 8.1. It was working but that happens just this day..

    There are only options for "CMS Cluster Directory", "Daz Connect Data", "DAZ Studio Formats", "Poser Formats", and "Other Import Formats".

    All are set to E:\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library (apart from the cms which is set to a different location on E, and the "Other Import Formats" which isn't set to anything).

    Well, don't I feel like a right moron. This thread can be deleted, it took me 2 hours to finally realize I had 'Filter By Context' checked off. That's normally where I start, don't know where my head was at this time. I think it filtering stuff without anything in the scene was throwing me off course. Once I loaded a base G3F I saw the problem immediately.

     

    Smart Content is all good, if anything now it should be cleaned up of any weirdness I had going on. My bad!

    I recently got the Smart Content database freakout (probably by installing a plugin with Daz still running) and have just spent the last hour trying to troubleshoot with no joy. Fun stuff first:

    Win10/AMD 1500X/32GB RAM/RTX3060 12GB DazStudio4.22

    So I initially tried to Reset Database and then do the Process Queue and Re-Import procedures. Absolutely nothing changed.

    Somewhere between these steps I also deleted the cms json file.

    I uninstalled Postgres CMS and Valentina from DIM - when trying to re-install thru DIM, it refused to grab the regular CMS file but downloaded Valentina, so I had to download Postgres CMS exe from the Daz website.

    Did all that, re-installed everything, verified the CMS was actually running, hit the Re-Import button to try and fix the database and STILL no joy. It's still all messed up and missing over half my library.

     

    Is there a dummy-proof step-by-step method that is actually proven to get back all my friggin Smart Content? This is getting on the level of hardcore tomfoolery and I'm getting real tired of it.

  • Characters not ported correctly shoulders and feet G8

    Hi I tried to port characters from DAZ to Blender using the plugin send to blender from daz / import from daz in blender, however  when using a basic G8 or G8.1 with no morph or addition of any kind, as soon as  the character is imported in blender the shoulders and feet are not in the correct position (causing problems later with IK). I attached a screenshot to show.

    Can someone help me and tell me what I'm doing wrong? I tried the same with G9 and this issue doesn't happen.

    DIM installs "/People/Genesis 8 Female/Characters/Carole 8.1.duf", so that is why you see it in the Characters in the Content Library.     Yup, I am planning in the next few days to lay down a huge chunk of cash, close to $2000 on a big Reallusion bundle and other software of theirs.

    All this so I can bring my 10,000+ daz models into Unreal and play around with some animation there...

    Just wondering what your thoughts are.

    This is all related to using iClone 8 + Character Creator 4 + Headshot Plug-in 2 for Character Creator 4 + iPhone LIVE FACE Profile for Motion LIVE Plug-in (iClone 8) as a go between for Daz Studio and Unreal engine.

    Also Unreal Live Link Plug-in for iClone 8 

    ...and SkinGen Premium Plug-in 4-in-1 Bundle

     ...and Hair & Beard Builder Combo (Extended License)

    ...and Digital Human Essential 3-in-1 + Wrinkle Essentials (Extended License)

    ...and AccuFace Profile for Motion LIVE Plug-in (iClone 8)

    Anything I forgot or would need instead of what I have currently in my cart?

    I am just starting out with this stuff, but I think I can learn all these new programs really fast, they all seem to be the same setup but do different things.

    Am I going to go down this road to later wish I swapped out one of these programs for another one?

     I would like to do mojo stuff with Lidar, and animation stuff in unreal with Daz figures hair scenes and clothing.

    I would like to try the Reallusion tools to improve on mostly skin and see if I can achieve a bit of realism that way.

    Their hair offerings seem interesting as well. I am mostly curious how Daz fiber body hair will export to these programs. And what about body suits?

    And I don't expect geographs to work at all.

    Any cautionary tales to prepare me for this new and exciting experience?

    I can't wait to see my Daz assets in Unreal... It would be nice to load some Daz scenes and learn how to set them up with Unreal features.

    I will make tutorials documenting this journey on my YouTube @ez3dtv channel.

    I hope to achieve some hyperrealism and maybe even edit some figures in Reallusion and then bringing them back to Daz Studio and see what kind of renders I can achieve.

    I suspect the bridges are kind of barely in service.

    And what about bringing Genesis 8 and 9 into Reallusion? 

    I have seen videos of Genesis 3 brought in to Reallusion exported as a .FBX but what about 8 and 9?

    And on a side note, thank you Daz for ditching the metadata on my assets! That really sped up parsing my library in a hugely noticeable way! Kudos for that great new feature!

    Little bits of time no longer subtracted from my existence. smiley

    You need to correctly configure the path(s) of your Daz3D Library in Global Settings, as below Screenshot:

    Yes... old but still have that memory. Because of the rigging and ERC Freezing issue of Dwarf Base(eyes have translate values...), you have to create another single dial by export / import Dwarf Base, re-rigging ( use Rigger Plus! default Adjust Rigging to Shape is not perfect, with artifacts...) and ERC Freezing. Reload G2M, then go for conversion with GenX. (...while GenX is not perfect though)

    If you know Hexagon or Blender, etc, finetune it a bit (smoothe torso, refine limbs, etc...)

     

    Thanks for that tip as well!!  I really like the Gen2 Male dwarf and wanted to see if I could get it to Gen3 Male.
