DAZ Central and DIM should use the same settings (make sure they do, but pick one and stick with it). I don't use Central, but in DIM the Package Archive path can be changed by clicking the ellipsis (...) at the far right side of the field. That will open a folder selection dialog for you to choose the one you want.

However, that alone will not cure your problem with the CMS connection. Did you install the PostgreSQL package? Do you see any postgres.exe processes in Task Manager? It should start up automatically with Studio or DIM (and presumably with Central).

    Richard Haseltine said:

Yes, the Viewport should be using OpenGL with (at least in part) thee xception of the Iray and Filament previews). The log isn't screaming "this is wrong". It may be worth using DDU to uninstall your driver and then reinstall, in case there's a left-over rogue element.

Sadly, that's subject to the same fail DAZ and DAZ Central is. I'll ponder. Simply uninstalling and re-installing doesn't solve anything, at least.

I'm now seeing reports that suggests that my ISP, CenturyLink pushed a firmware update to my fiber router (they use McAfee's security product - I don't), resulting in Daz3d being intermittently blocked (and DIM not working).   Not sure what to do next.  Haven't been able to logon to DIM for a couple weeks.

    e.g.:
    https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32949955-CenturyLink-now-blocking-websites
    https://www.reddit.com/r/dungeonscrawl/comments/irxb92/cant_connect_security_issue/
    (or https://centurylink18.rssing.com/browser.php?indx=8171763&last=1&item=3 )
    https://www.reddit.com/r/centurylink/comments/jz6ppb/actiontech_c3000a_firmware_issue/

Well, I suspected this.  I recently upgraded to a C3000A modem, before upgrading my service. Was going to wait till the weekend to research and test, but after seeing your post, I shut down my computer and put my old modem back on service.

After rebooting and Windows finishing it's start-up routine, I opened DIM and it connected. Showed Product Updates for several products.

Wonder now how DAZ is gonna handle a major DSL/ISP provider blocking their software. There has to be a lot of DAZ users with CenturyLink as their ISP, modem supplier.

Odd that the website seemed to work (for the most part) but DIM didn't.  Guess for now I'll have to stick with the old modem.

I think you can circumvent your ISP blocking sites by using a VPN provider but like who wants yet another extra bill to pay? If you don't know what a VPN (virtual private network) is what businesses often use to secure the connections of their remote workers.

Thanks much for the VPN suggestion!!!

I've known of VPNs but never had a need for them, until now.  I found that ProtonVPN offers a free VPN for one device:  https://protonvpn.com/pricing .   Almost instantly, DIM started working and I was able to download and install the 44 packages that I ordered over the last couple weeks.

With the traffic first going through a remote non-highspeed VPN server, it did take about 3 times longer than usual to download the files, but it wasn't that long.

That said, I sure hope DAZ contacts and works things out with McAfee, as the security product that McAfee sells to ISPs (and which currently blocks DIM, and intermittently blocks daz3d.com) probably impacts a lot more ISPs in addition to CenturyLink, and a TON of DAZ users.

There was one "gotcha" with the free version of ProtonVPN:  After installing the software, when you connect to their VPN server, you cannot use the username and password you set up with your ProtonVPN account.  It turns out that the OpenVPN GUI required a special username and password, which is  listed on your ProtonVPN account page.  After that, it was extremely easy to use.

PS:  To avoid potential issues with Zoom, and other packages that I use, during installation, I UNCHECKED the option to have OpenVPN load at startup.   I'm running Windows 10.  When I want to use the VPN, I just click on the OpenVPN GUI icon on my desktop, then right-click on the OpenVPN icon in the system tray (the area near your clock).  I then choose the VPN server to use, and paste in the special username and password.  After that, DIM works.

PPS:  As expected, as soon as I disconnect from the VPN server, I can no longer log onto DIM and get error messages when connecting to Daz3d.com.  So the problem continues, but at least VPN can be used as an interim measure.

Also note that Robert Friese in an above post states that Opera browser has a build in VPN. I'm not sure of the technical aspects of such an implementation by the Opera company as compared to an exclusive VPN provider though.

You might consider opening tickets to your ISP and to McAffee both as well.

I did test the Opera browser VPN, your IP is hidden, and like the exclusive VPN provider you tested it does work but you would have to use the manual download via Opera browser and then install your DAZ content. So if you do things like download DAZ DIM, DAZ Central, Unity, UE4, and similar products with online installers and online licenses or play online games then probably ultimately you're going to want to got the $79 a year ultra fast VPN service. It depends on how much your ISP & McAfee interfere and miscategorize websites you use.

  • Viewport and aux are broken

I got a new computer, yay! Specs in sig (comp 2).

DAZ Central won't even boot (stays white), so I resorted to DIM to get DAZ installed.
    []

    Sadly, it's a little broken.

The viewport won't load aspect ratios or camera/view mode selector and when I load up a file, it just stays grey. There is no grid. Aux is empty.
    I have attached a screenshot.

I have installed the latest drivers.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Is this a new Windows machine by any chance, and if so: what keyboard setup did you use?

See, some keyboard layouts provide support for quickly typing special characters. For example: é is generated from pressing ' follored by e. Yet here also lies a problem, because if you're using ' within a password then typing and even pasting the character would result in Windows "eating" it because it'll try to combine it with the next character. Which can (and will) result in password failures.

So I'd start by ensuring that you're actually typing in the full and correct password, and that you're not using any kind of layout which "eats" special characters.

I'm really sorry you're having this trouble. Unfortunately, now is not a good time for using DIM or DAZ Central to install content. DAZ has had some wide-ranging troubles since the new store software was introduced.

Do you still have access to the old computer? If so, you can copy all your content from the old hard drive to a new one. I've done it many times. You'd need to tell DAZ Studio where to find the content on your new computer. Good luck, my friend.

  • Can't see the figure or Scene

Assuming this si Daz Studuo there's a fair chance that the Viewport pane has been closed (or possibly moved off the screen), though without a screen shot I can't be certain. Window>Panes(Tabs)>Viewport should reopen it, you can then drag it by the top bar to the top of the central well and when you see a line of highlight colour across the top release the mouse - that should dock it again. You could also use Window>Workspace>Select Layout to reset the whole UI.

DazCentral isn't (or shouldn't be) because they can't run simultaneously.

Texture Atlas and CCT are included in the Daz Studio install, they only need serial numbers.

    TC2 doesn't appear in DIM.

  • New PC - how to migrate Daz?

If both are Windows machines running the same PostgreSQL then you can, with DS, DIM, and other Daz applications closed, copy the ContentCluster to the equivalent location on the new machine - that, plus the content directories, will give you all of your content organisation. By default the database is, for Windows, in:

    %AppData%/daz 3d/cms/contentcluster/

DIM/Daz Central are less tolerant as they need to record exactly where the fiels went, so that they can be uninstalled. If you still have the zips just copy the DIM folders across (the manifests folder is the one that shows what was installed), start DIM, set its paths (if the defaults are not correct), select everything in the Installed tab and right-click, then choose the option to reinstall all selected using the current paths. Daz Studio, its plug-ins, and some scripts/sahders will need to be reinstalled anyway.
