  • Michael 4 base and studioCF questions

    In your product library, under Michael 4, you will see:
    Michael 4 Base 13.01 MB
    Michael 4 Base StudioCF 87.25 KB
    Michael 4 Base PowerLoader 63.98 KB
    Michael 4 Base Puppeteer StudioCF

    So I'm not sure what that PowerLoader thingie is, but perhaps that has something to do with it too? Which of these got installed? If you want to manually do it, extract the files (you do not drag over the manifest file, that is for the DIM to use. Just the Content, etc) and drag over to My Library/wherever you have your files. When you do this, have the studio turned OFF, and when you open it up again, be sure the Content Management Service is running so the new files are installed.

  • Newbie question about genesis and genesis 2 compatibility

    Whether or not Genesis 2 is better than the priginal Genesis is really something only you can decide.

    And DAZ 3D has said that they are not going to cease catering for Genesis alongside Genesis 2. Both are still current figures for the foreseeable future. Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are still very current in many peoples runtim,es, and they have been out a long time.

    If you want to use any of DAZ 3D figures within a game then you will need to purchase a game developers license.

    Devil: You want drums? Why don't you try out that set over there.

    Kismet, Thanks for joining in on the fun. All your links check out and you have the required monster and music element. Music will have the last say since this is his show this month but I think you qualify.

    I love the concept that you were going for. A great tongue and cheek kind of thing. I would though have lightened up the scene to better see the elements. If you are using DAZ I know that Shifting Images provided some light settings for the dungeon set. You might want to try them and see how they work for you. This is only a suggestion if you are happy with your scene then all is well and good.

    Music may have a different idea about when you should incorporate these comments, but here are some things to include when you enter your next render into the contest.
    1. We like to see which of the links go to a registered site. So your sharecg links should have some annotation indicating that free registration is required.
    2. Because you have a .3ds model and DAZ can not import this type of file we include the link to a free software that can convert the file to obj which DAZ does like. Here is the link for Poseray which meets the requirement.;
    https://sites.google.com/site/poseray/

    Again thank you for entering and good luck!

    Thank you for the feedback DollyGirl.

    I did not know about the conversion program. I imported the skeleton and then resized him. Wish I could have posed him though.

    I agree it's dark. I'll see what I can do.

    I'm a newbie so the help is very much appreciated.

    Your welcome Kismet. As to rigging your skeleton DAZ has the tools to do so. You will have to search far and wide for any free tutorials about rigging. I finally just started buying the tuts here at DAZ to learn. They are still untouched. Just to many things to learn about and rigging gets put to the bottom of the list.
    As to lighting options there are some really good uber light packages for free that I use as my starting point when I light a scene. Here are my three most favorite:
    InaneGlory's Lights
    Wancow's Lights
    glaseye's skydome
    glaseys's matching lights
    Have fun playing. Lighting is probably the most important thing to learn about in this hobby. Lots of people struggle with getting the lighting just the way they want it. You just picked a hard thing to do. Lighting in a dark scene is very tough.

    Story of my life. I always seem to do things the hard way until I learn/realize there is a far simpler way to do what I want. :)

    The rigging is going to have to wait. I have too much to learn and need to work on shaders for the New Users Contest...but I really enjoy reading the entires for this contest and decided to give it a go.

  • Michael 4 base and studioCF questions

    If you are a DAZ Studio user, you need the StudioCF installer. (CF means Companion File, btw..) Typically they contain optimized material presets for DAZ Studio, though I've seen lights and poses in the installer on occasion, but mostly you'll find materials. The actual model files will be found in the Poser Format's library.

    The StudioCF files will install in your DAZ Studio Formats library. The Michael 4 Base StudioCF files are shown in the picture below.

    PoserCF are needed only if you're using DAZ content with the Poser program and the DSON importer for Poser. If you're installing with DIM and only have DAZ Studio selected in the download filter, you'll never see the PoserCF installers in your Ready to Download tab.

  • Handy Dandy Question

    I agree completely. I've been struggling to see what the problem with the thumb is, as the same happens with Michael 4 and is why he wasn't included in the set. Maybe I will try feeding the numbers into the different channels and see if that fixes the issue.

    Odd thing is, some thumb poses are not messed up in this way and Handy Dandy is able to translate them just fine. The majority, however, do seem to be a problem. One thing I have found that helps sometimes is if the V4 to Genesis preset doesn't work, then the V4 to Genesis 2 will often do the trick.

    Thanks for the suggestion, and I will update this post with the results

  • Need Rendering help!

    Hello

    I know I have an older laptop but Poser Pro 2014 seems to work pretty decent. I don't have any huge issues with it. I have Windows 7 on a 64 Bit Acer Aspire 5100, Radeon Express 1100 series. I have up to date drivers for my graphic card.

    When I render, my figure looks more like a cartoon figure? That is not my goal at all. Attached is an image of what my render looks like. I have all of the maps on the default that the Michael 4 figure came with and I have some added texture. Nothing major. I didn't mess with any settings. Everything is pretty much on default. I'm not denying the possibility my graphics card might not be able to handle the render but older versions use to work okay. Is there a setting I can toy with to correct it?

    I know bump maps, textures and lighting is the way to get the finest details. I am aiming for the most natural skin / realistic figure.

    Thanks!

    Well, it looks like you're going to have to uninstall and reinstall the Michael 4 Morphs++. If you've got DIM it should take you all of 10 seconds.

  • Generation X Not transferring all M4 ++ morphs

    Maybe I’m just not wording this correctly.
    I’m not talking about morphs being ticked or not. It’s the actual morphs “Beer Belly” & “Thin” that are not on the list of morphs hence they can’t be ticked or not ticked when there’s no morph there.

    As shown in the previous pictures, I created a pose file with just the “beer Belly” morph.
    I then created another pose file with the “Thin” morph selected.

    Then in DS GenX I selected Michael 4 from the recent list, dragged in the ++ morphs, then the Beer Belly pose file, clicked on transfer, filled in the dialogs to save the file. Quit DS. Restarted DS, went to the shaping tab, found the new “
    Beer Belly” morph, set it to 1 & nothing happened. See the results in the top 2 pictures (from my previous post)

    I then repeated the above but with the “thin” morph, & again it did nothing. See the middle 2 pictures.

    Every Head I’ve done & every body (if they don’t include those morphs) work fine for both Michel 3 & Michael 4

    I have included several screen dumps to show that “beer belly” & “thin” are not there.

    (i did also try your method, but neither of the morphs appeared)

  • How do you use pwGhost?? This UI needs some serious revamping.

    Thanks for the feedback! Can I get to the product Read Me pages from the DAZ UI?

    I can never find the actors easily. For UX they should be in Content Library > People > Michael 4 but there are no actors in the results for that folder or any of it's subfolders. Please advise :)

  • Generation X Not transferring all M4 ++ morphs

    I don't have 'Man in the Mirror', but BeerBelly and Thin are part of Michael 4 Morphs++. I transferred them like this:

    a) Select Michael 4 from the 'Recent' menu;

    b) Click on the 'Select' button and 'Set All Values to Zero';

    c) Right-click in the Transfer Window and from the 'Show in list' menu check 'No Controlled Morphs' and 'Hidden Morphs/Controllers';

    d) Drag-and-drop the morph you want to transfer from your Content Library into the GenX Transfer Window;

    e) Expand the 'BODY' list - you should see the morph listed there. It will have a check in the Type column. Now click on the check box to the left in the Morph column;

    f) Select the 'Selected Morphs' option (the one without brackets after it), and make sure 'Michael 4' is the selected figure in the list below that;

    g) Click on the 'Transfer' button - the morph will now be transferred.

    h) Close DAZ;

    i) Open DAZ;

    j) Load Genesis;

    k) The morph you transferred should be under Actor > Generation X > Morphs|Shapes > Morphs++ > Full Body.

    That is the basic transfer method with no frills or customization. It should demonstrate at the very least that the transfer can be done. Good luck. :coolsmirk:

  • Guy 4 Installation Problems

    Upon install, Guy 4 replaces all the Michael 4 folders and files under Runtime/Libriaries/!Daz

    Guy 4 appears to be a morph and texture set for M4. I don't see how it could have overwritten all of the M4 installed files?

    How are you trying to load these morphs for Guy 4? You should select M4 in the Scene pane, find the morph that you want to apply in the Poser Formats > Pose folder, and double click on it. Is that what you are doing?
    If it does not load the morph, do you get an error message, if not, have you looked in the log, Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File?
    You also need to have Morphs++ installed for these morphs to work.
