How to fit V4/M4 Clothing to Genesis2 Female/Male
How to fit V4/M4 to Genesis2 Female/Male
This is a tutorial on how I solved the issue of autofitting Version 4 figures to Genesis 2 for Carrara. I'm using a lot of screenshot graphics so this will be in three posts. As the graphics are attached at the end of posts and limited to 5 each post, all the graphics will be numbered to associate with the text numbering.
Problem:
Carrara does not currently support autofits for Genesis 2. So after two days of trial and error, this is my working solution to use the "M4 for Genesis 2 Male" helper application to convert version 4 (M4, V4, S4, etc.) clothing content (skins too, but I haven't gone there yet) for use in Carrara with Genesis 2 figures. What I used:
Windows 7 Computer, Carrara 8.5, Daz Studio 4.6, "M4 for Genesis 2 Male" helper applicationThe Process:
1.
Open DAZ Studio (am using 4.6).Open Smart Content Pane Figures>People>Male.
Double click on Genesis 2 Base Male (or your Gen 2 choice of figure). This places a figure for assembly use.
2.
Close the Smart Content Pane (click the teeny tiny white triangle to shut the pane).Open the Content Library (for this demo I'm using "Stylin for M4" Pants).
DRAG (do not double click) the Pants icon onto the male figure. This places the pants and activates the "M4 for Genesis
2 Male" window.
I chose Michael 4 and Pants and clicked the Accept button. This transforms the pants to the Gen 2 figure (Thank you
developer Slosh, this applciation is very nice work).
3.
Next I deleted the Genesis 2 Male figure (just to isolate the pants).Right click the male figure and select Delete "Genesis 2 Male."
4.
Right click the pants and choose Select All.5.
Under the File menu choose Save As>Support Asset>Figure/Prop Assets.

So what script is this then? It will do a batch conversion from ds to duf?
I don't care about settings so much, I usually tweak mine to death and resave them out anyways but getting these folders of ds skins for M4 into a duf format so that at least load onto M6 is really what I'm after.
The script I (and I believe Richard) refer to is this one which does not actually save the textures in the new duf format, it 'just' applies them. In effect it allows you to pick and choose the textures (skin, eyes, makeup, etc.) and individually apply them on the G2M figure just as you would on M4.
M6 wearing M4 skin, need some helpHello.
There is a tutorial which explains how to convert V4 skin to G2F, I think it's the same process (if of course you speak of http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-male-s)
http://youtu.be/VGbm8f0Y_GAPerhaps you simply have http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male ?
Does m6 play nice in poser?Hello.
I mostly work in poser. Billboard Poses for M6/renders too were made in Poser Pro 2014
M6 works very well in Poser, easy to pose , but you need a powerful computer.
Fitting room does'nt work with genesis/genesis2; Not a problem, Daz autofit is better IMO. But if you want to convert clothes, you need to do that in Daz studio before, then save the scene , create companion files, and re-import in poser. It's tiring, and some pokes may appear.
Be careful, genesis 1 clothes are converting to genesis 2, but for M4 you need M4 clone: http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male,
and you need to save your M4 textures in .DUF before.
To be honnest I have sometime some bugs with saved files in Poser: some clothes does'nt fit any more when I reopen a scene, or some morph return as default I don't know why.Constructive Criticism for Daz3Dmedhue said:Diversity depends on what you are talking about. In my option, the G1 figure met that diversity. The reason I jumped into G1, was that I thought Daz had created something that would last. See the problem that I see in 3D content is that nothing is really compatible from avatar to avatar. I thought G1 was going to change all that. When all the creators are working on 1 avatar, you get massive diversity. It makes the figure valuable, especially when any1 can sell those assets they make. You never know what people are going to want or need. By separating the market with another new Genesis, that is incompatible, outside of clothing, you ruin the value of G1, from a customers standpoint, and creators standpoint. I really don't expect to see many people still creating for G1. What exactly would be the point? I'm really not saying G2 was a bad idea, just that making it incompatible with everything else was not smart. This is why I question whether it was done on purpose. Maybe it was not, and G2 had to be different. I need to take a better look at the skeleton, as the animation differences in G1 and G2 are very strange. I've applied the same animation to 2 completely different skeletons and don't see these kinds of differences. There is no real documentation, so I can only fiddle around with G2 to figure out why it's so different.
I think you're missing a very critical point; Genesis can use quite a bit from Gen4 characters right out of the box using the Autofit capability; I have quite a library of free content for Victoria 4, both poses and clothing items, plus a bunch of stuff from Michael 4 and it all works with Genesis. The same is true of G2; even though I'm not really a fan of the change myself, I will adapt and build content for both generations of Genesis, and maybe even do some things for V4 and M4 while I'm at it.
I think at least part of the reason that DAZ developed and released G2 is to provide an option for those that weren't satisfied with how the G1 figures worked. Genesis was a very innovative development, but lacked "flexibility" in certain areas that lead DAZ to split the system into two "different but interconnected" figures.
M6 Carrara RendersHmmmm.. Interesting. But I put it to you that this:
Carrara 8.5 offers the latest in DAZ technology. Our software engineers have worked meticulously to ensure that the new features in Carrara 8.5 exceed the standard you've come to expect for Carrara. Carrara 8.5 provides seamless support for the Genesis and Genesis 2 figures you know and love.Is in direct contradiction with this:
AutoFit of legacy 1) content onto Genesis 2 Female only partially works at this time. (i.e. Victoria 4, Michael 4, Victoria 3…)
AutoFit from Genesis to Genesis2 does not work at this time.I don't believe you can say that Carrara 8.5 offers the latest in Daz Technology when it doesn't fully support the latest Daz Figures. I really don't think you can say it provides seamless support for Genesis 2 characters and then say that it doesn't support autofit for Genesis 2 characters.
ah well, now I'm sort of bummed out again. Today I've been whipping back and forth emotionally. I think that tonight I need to just relax at my computer and make pretty pictures.

I think that is so you don't have to filter your file extensions and you don't have to guess at which file it represents because you have a picture. Works very well, IMO. Most of the files you will want to convert are probably in My Library/People/Genesis/Materials (or Characters).Thank you. Here is Michael 4, Michael 4 (genesis), Michael 4 (genesis 2). It took me a very long time to figure out how to duplicate him in genesis, but not so long to do it in genesis 2. I have the high res files (which are uses in genesis but they are in a format called .mc6 which the converter can not use, so I had to use the standard res files for the genesis 2 Michael. Still have not figured out what is wrong with the genesis Michael's eyes. They look normal, but they do not render normal.
I consider this an exercise in learning my way around this program.
Anyway, thank you again. Nice little program script, whatever it does. :-)

M6 Carrara RendersHi,
Am not familiar with DAZ at all, so am wondering about the export of DUF to Carrara. How do I get that exported DUF "material preset" file to show up in the Carrara content panes inorder to place it on the M6 figure? i.e. Where do I put it, the DUF and how do I find it? Sorry for being dense, but I can't seem to get the DUF in.
Here's a typical problem we are seeing..left to right
first: DAZ Stuido 4.6 autofit using M6 with Stylin for M4 Pants (using Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male plugin)
second: Carrara 8.5 Michael 6 with Stylin for M4 Pants (using Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male plugin)
third: Carrara 8.5 Michael 5 with Stylin for M4 Pants (using stock autofit)Possible problem with Michael 4 for G2MLet me start by saying that I'm really getting into the whole spirit of G2 and our latest member. I'm also generally happy with Michael 4 for G2M, but I have noticed there are some... imperfections. So far all the clothes I have have tried fit great. Boots are pretty good too. The biggest problem I have run across is with gloves.
I've looked at multiple sets of gloves and none of them look great around the tips of the fingers. I've attached a a G1 and G2M picture using the Cyberpunk for M4 limbs.
I'm also attaching a G2M and G2F image of boot autofits. So far it looks like the autofit for G2F is generally better quality, but I have seen some instances where the G2F fits are less than optimal
Basically I'm wondering if other have similar experiences as my own.

Indicated which products were for Genesis 2 Males or Females that I forgot to do on some items that gt added and updated yesterday..
They indicated if they were Genis 2 Male or Female in the names, but were missing the additional indication that follows after the name of a product.
Due to space limitations I'm using the abreviations: M for Males, F for Females,Genes for Genesis, and Temps for Templates, so as to keep entries to a single line.
The templates if any exist for a product were found usually on the Product's Store Page, however DAZ is puting them now for some newer products with the Product Libary Downloads and not on the Store Page.
So be sure and check both the Store Page and Product Libary if your looking for templates for a product.
Grim reaperG2M can AutoFit Genesis 1 content. Genesis 1 can AutoFit generation 4 content, and generation 3 with the relevant shapes from the store. So if you convert to Genesis, save as asset, and convert to G2M you can in principle go back to the third generation - and Slosh has a dierct conversion clone for Michael 4 to G2M in the store too.

I load G2M in DS.
I slap the Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male on it.
I bring up the script Michael 4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Male(s) and chose an M4 texture from my Poser runtime. The script converts the texture to work with the M4/G2M and saves it to My Studio.
I then look in My Studio for the converted texture and load it onto the M4/G2M.Am I in the ballpark yet? = )
The script does not save it to your Studio... You would need to do that if you want to save it. But you don't need to... The textures are on G2M after the script is ran.
edit: And you don't need to "slap the Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male... Just install it... The clone and UV will automatically then be part of G2M.
Ahhh, thank you so much for that! LOL...like I said ...shaky knowledge.
However, I would need to save the converted texture in order to re-use it, right? Also in order to (somehow) create a CF for it so I could take it into Poser with the G2M?
Yes. if you want to be able to take it into to Poser.
Thank you for the help. I think I understand it now. Into the cart it goes! = ) While it does sound kind of simple to use, hopefully, there will be some kind of tutorial available so.....ummm, someday. = )
Tutorial:Select G2M; Goto My Library\People\Genesis 2 Male\Scripts\M4 Skins Auto Converter double click on New Surfaces For Old G2M icon... When the folder opens up, navigate to character texture you want to apply. select image in folder and click open. And that's it.

EJ Hugo for Michael 6 [Commercial]Hi all!
EJ Hugo, our character for M6, has been just released. You can find him here:
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/ej-hugoWe are very fond to vampire novels. He represents the romantic man and the tormented hero.
He can have very different appearances and be a very versatile character, with custom sculpted head morph. He includes several face options, from goatee for a casual boy, also without goatee, of course, an option for Venetian mask, that reminds the Vampire novels inspired in the 18th century... so you can imagine him in a Venetian street full of fog, lurking in the corners looking for his next victim. He also has Gothic face options, and we included also some Gothic nails. We also put another face option with the reddish eye contour that you may have seen in dozens of movies and illustrations. That romantic red eye contour is also used nowadays in fashion makeups.
About the eyes: we included 7 natural eyes, and 3 of fantasy, that are the typical vampire eyes. One set is completely black and may also work for demonic or evil characters, or even a wizard, or someone possessed by a curse. You also have the red eyes of vampire, and another one with the red sclera that you saw in many movies.
There is a vampire teeth custom sculpted morph, and mat options for the teeth clean or with blood in teeth and tongue.
We could not forget the blood in a vampire, so it also includes the typical mouth with blood drips, and the bites in the neck.
About the tattoos: you can put the tattoos in one arm, the other, or in both arms.
In the left arm you have the tattoo of the Death between blue roses, flowers that Alchemists used as symbol of the impossible, and birds under it surrounding that scene. That tattoo symbolizes the impossibility of the death of the vampire, and the suffering that this fact produces to him.
In the other arm there is a phrase in Latin: "Memento Mori", that means "Remember that you are a mortal being". It is the warning of the vampire to his possible victims, that feel attracted irremediably by his attractive and probably will be doomed to death.
He also includes 10 expressions and a zero expression: 5 for a casual male, and 5 for vampire.
Well, and umm... yes he has a genital morph and textures LOL! Custom sculpted for better realism :D
And all DSON and Poser files are included so it can be used by all users in Poser and in DAZ Studio.
Hope you guys like Hugo and find him as fun to use as we loved to do him! ;)
We want to tell something more: all the promos were made thanks to the product "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male" that you can find here: http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male
(it allows to use your M4 clothing and other products on M6)
