I, in common I asume with many others have spent a lot of money on clothing for various Daz models over the years. There was a time when I loved Victoria, but sad to say the old girl is now very much just that, an old girl and I have moved onto to younger models. First my affections were transferred to Genesis and then G2 and most recently G3F, and I mortgaged my house to clothe all of them ( just kidding ).

Then along came a new and more tempting younger woman and once more temptation is rearing its ugly head. I checked my wallet, empty, so I trawled around finding free stuff for this new woman in my life, but, inevitably the time has come when I have to admit I can no longer keep this very expensive creature in the style to which she is accustomed. 

Its a sad story, but does anyone know if there is any way that I can use the vast and expensive content I have purchased for earlier versions of genesis, G,G2 and G3, with G8 and G8.1 content and also use the limited content i have purchased for G8 with her earlier incarnations...

It contains the file list which mentions a script called "Victoria 8.1 Tattoo All - Add.duf"

Ok, so I don't know if anyone has asked this before - and I apologise if I'm duplicating something that's already been answered - but, can anyone tell me where I can find the tattoos used in the Victoria 8.1 promos?

The good news is that there is now a "Categories" drop-down menu on the left side of the main shop page, and the categories are fairly fine-grained. The bad news is that the drop-down isn't included on special sales pages such as Build Your Own Bundle or New Releases.

Also, not every product is well-categorized. The category "Genesis 8 People" doesn't include Michael 8 or Victoria 8 (and many others), but does include "Modern Weapons Collection 2". 

Growing pains, I guess.

Also do you know how big the difference between LiveLink and FaceCap is in terms of the mocap quality?

This one uses SickleYield's clones to go from V3/M3 to Genesis 8 figures.  The woman's clothing is Jim Burton's Day in the Office outfit for Victoria 3, and the man's shirt is the Safari shirt for Michael 3.  Both have the textures sucstituted for Iray.

I did try, but alas, Genesis 8 was such a different figure in terms of its facial rigging and design, that it just wasn't workable. The variation in results from one figure to the next were so great, that in the end I couldn't get anything I could classify as stable and workable. I'd get a smile result that looked great on one figure, and it would look monsterous on another. I thought about making it figure specific--"Biometric expressions for Victoria 8" for example, but that wasn't viable in terms of return on time investment (which, sadly, is something I have to constantly consider). To make a universal version, I even tried incorporating morphs from the wonderful Auto Face Enhancer product by D.Master, but still couldn't get anything that stayed consistent enough from figure to figure, so in the end I moved on. There will undoubtedly be a Genesis 9 (or 8.5 or whatever it will be called, ha ha) in the future, and you can expect that I will be picking it apart to see what can be done with its facial expressions, but until then Biometric expressions will just be a Genesis 3 thing.

I was not aware of the SMS alerts. Does this really happen?

Yes, it happens, because like an sale, they don't always work and people complain on the forum.

I believe the way it works is that you register your mobile, they send you a text, and you have to click a link / enter a code or something. I think they they text out codes to the phones that registered, but because I'm not in the US, I don't know if that's 100% right.

What I do know is that regardless of international issues there are other ways the codes could be sent that would give everyone in the world a chance to acquire core characters free of charge when they decide to give them away. Email sound good to me. There really is no excuse.

When it comes to my wallet, my opinion is what matters. And my opinion, which let me stress, is not something I am stating as fact, is that Daz knows they are not fair to Europe. They acknowleged it when I complained, sending the statistics to prove it, and people tell them time and time again. Maybe they keep forgetting they have customers outside the US, but (again) personaly, I think it's more likely they don't care. And that is their choice.

I'd really like to know how much their sales comes outside US and which countries specifically - or at least what portion of the sales come from EU. I mean there aren't that many places for 3D hobbyists to buy stuff and while I don't expect this to be a hugely popular hobby I'd certainly expect most European hobbyists doing business here as well. Maybe they feel they can afford ignoring EU folks on this matter either because we are not a significant portion of buyers OR because they know we don't really have much of an alternative OR because they feel like they are being fair and those of us who are complaining are just a bunch of ungrateful whiners!

It just seems odd to me. Perhaps most people in Europe like to pay more fo things?.Maybe it's that most people in Europe don't know it happens so they don't know they are paying more? Who can say?

At the time of 3 AM the gift card sale, I decided that was it. I would not spend money here any more. I decided later that was stupid because they sell things that I want. But it also made me realise that 90% of my spending was stuff I simply don't need. So all I buy now is stuff that I can see a genuine and immediate use for, and that is very little. I will never pay a greater than that offered to the favoured timezones, so that limits my opportunities to buy those things. So all I've bought in the PC+ sale is stuff that's PC+ for the day because I know I'm getting a fair price. Even then, I have to want it quite a lot, so I've not been buying 5 items a day as I have in previous years.

I'm not even *that* annoyed about the regular flash sales stuff. I'm more annoyed when I miss 20% off gift card deals since those have a huge impact. Actually I went many years without buying any gift cards because I didn't realize you could use them yourself. I only started buying them a few years ago (before the break I believe).

This was my problem with it. I gave some (friendly) feedback to support which said...

Gift card sales are not normal sales. They don't influence your spending for the time the sale runs, they influence it for weeks. I'm not prepared to spend 20% more than other people because of the timing of this sale...

Please, please, please can you think a little more carefully about the impact of these short-term sales. Gift card sales above all others need to be fair.

Now to be completely fair about this, I don't think they did it again. But is still staggers me that they didn't think it through enough to realise how annoyed people excluded from that particular sale would be. But in the end, I think they did me a favour.

I'm also annoyed how complex these special sales things can get. For example now during semi-annual sale I have spent hours combing through all sort of combinations to figure out what combo actually gives me a discount on the product I'm looking to get and how it combines with other stuff that I might actually sort of want to get but maybe not now... but ooh maybe that 2.xx product I don't really need or even can use at the moment actually gives me the discount I want... but now it looks like it doesn't actually work on this product it is supposed to maybe work... or not???

I can't be bothered with it. If it's not simple, I don't even try! 

It's just so much easier to buy the BYOB and Plat Club for a day stuff than figure out which two or three products you have to add. Here I actually have to admit Daz is giving very good deals,

I also found I skipped a few of the 80% off deals because they are part of a bundle I want to eventually buy (though might be smarter to buy them individually) or there's nothing offered that I want (not Daz's fault). 

I'm also on the fence when it comes to getting stuff I want. I mean I've a library of more than 5200 items of which 2107 aren't even installed yet and most of the stuff I haven't used even once... so maybe I should focus on using the stuff I already have rather than buying new, but to be honest I probably won't install the stuff I ordered over 15 years ago  since it's rather dated... (the first order is from November 2005... oh, how the time flies...)

I don't know how many things I have, but it's more than enough!

For the record: My first order was Michael 3.0 on 2005-11-12 which didn't actually cost anything. My real for money purchase was a week later on 2005-11-18 and it was a platinum club membership for $29.95. I also did another purchase on the same day for $147 and of the items listed there I still use Spa of Juturna and Magic Falls.

I've only been going three years. I started with G3 because she was cheaper, and I think Victoria 7 might have been my first purchase! Those were the days!

Okay, I have sent you a pm with a link. For some reason the teeth now looked fine when I tried out other G8F models. I also updated Diffeo to the lastest development version maybe that also helped.

Erynn for G8F certainly makes a nice ginger with freckles. If you really want to make twins look alike, perhaps the cross-gender options Daz has available could let M & F use the same skin. A store search for "freckles" does show some decent redheads.

Hurpling out of lurkerdom to throw in my 2 cents: 

"These complementary morphs for the Genesis 8 Male and Female hearken back to the Daz Children of days gone by and do their best to approximate the styling of the Michael/Victoria 4 and Genesis 1 era children."

Well, that explains it right there. When you load up Kids 4 or dial in Basic Child on Genesis, they look incredibly awkward and more like little people than they do actual kids (as seen in the example below of Basic Child Genesis, which is more or less Kids 4). Especially now when we've got Kid figures like all of 3DU's girls (and rare boys), Kayden 8.1, and Angel_Wings' kiddos (and whatever one-offs any PAs have done) or Tobyn/Caryn 8. I'd hazard a guess and say that most of us are so used to seeing characters with realistic-ish proportions from G8/G8.1, seeing something that's basically a throwback to a more simpler age is jarring. I know it was for me when I saw the product. Especially the adult looking heads and the near-Donkey Kongesque arms, wooooof. Not exactly Topsy or Drutherson, but close to the edge there.

I mean, yeah, compared to his other output it's probably the weakest link... but he's making a concious stylistic choice that intentionally throws back to a more simpler (and somewhat ugly, lbr) age and, well... that's his prerogative ig.

Hi all,

I'm hoping one of you more experienced folks might be able to help me figure out something that's bugged me in the past and is coming up again.

Using a Genesis 8 female body, there is an odd ripple that happens where the leg meets the hip. I've attached some examples - in the attached I'm using Victoria and Leony morphs, both to 100%. There are no invisible pieces of clothing, no ghost morph additions, just the pose - I believe it was a Zeddicus one. I can smooth it in Photoshop, but I feel like it might be something obvious I'm missing. I have tried increasing the curvy aspects, different body types, you name it, but the fold is still there.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!
