Face/Morph problems with figures - Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 - they dont look as they seem
Hello everyone, I have a question regarding various Genesis figures. I bought them, installed but it does not really seem the person I bought, but rather the standard genesis figure.
e.g.
- Grace (genesis 3)
- Mia (Genesis 3
- Eden (genesis 3)
All these figures look identical!
When I load other characters, they look the same as described.
Error in the system ??I also have an Asian figure:
- Miya Doll (genesis 8)
In this figure, the whole breast is totally crumpled! I think there is a real mistake in the figure. So far there was no update.THX for helping
Lara Croft face morph for G3F/G8F?Crystal Dynamics doesn't have to sue, all they have to do is issue a cease and desist. Same thing happened to Pretty3D, as I recall, and their Treasure Hunter sets. Assuming, of course, that PedroFurtadoArts' morph even pops up on their radar.
MRL dForce Long Hair morph location? They are all there.
Make sure you click on the correct item.
What is the correct item? At the moment i'm viewing the parameter list for both loaded figures and only see one morph (expand all) as in these screenshots:
I have no choice but to make my own HD morphs, so how do I do it? I have zbrush. On a related note, I spent some time over the weekend preparing some assets to do a video tutorial on the workflow discussed above. As part of that, I have created my own Development Kit, which helps to speed up a lot of the tedious or repetitive work involved when working on characters. Here is a screenshot of the contents so far:

Some details:
- Load G8M Basic - Loads G8M with a slightly reflective grey shader (used in previous renders), SubD Level 1, SubD Max Level unlocked to 4 and no eyelashes.
- Apply G8M Texturing Pose - A custom pose to allow for easier texturing. Fingers and toes have been spread apart and straightened, the mouth is partially open to allow easier painting of lips with little distortion, the eyes are partially closed for less distortion on the eyelids while still giving access to the eyeline, and the limbs have been adjusted to increase access to the tight spaces under the arms and between the legs.
- Explode Eyes and Teeth - A custom morph that moves the eye and teeth geometry out to the left of Genesis 8 Males head. The sclera, pupil and iris have been separated from the cornea and eye moisture. The teeth have been aligned and spread out for easier access during texturing. This morph is also great for baking maps in other software because it reduces overlap between the meshes.
- Export OBJ - Base Resolution Level - Changes the selected figure to Base Resolution and SubD 0 and prompts for a location to save an OBJ file with the appropriate settings for Mudbox, Maya and others (these are the settings I use for all my OBJ exports).
- Export OBJ - Current SubD Level - Uses the currently set Resolution and SubD Level for the selected figure and prompts for a location to save an OBJ file with the appropriate settings for Mudbox, Maya and others (these are the settings I use for all my OBJ exports).
- G8M Ears / Eyes / Head / Mouth and Teeth Deformer - Various preset weight mapped D-Formers. Generally used with 'Attenuate By' when importing morphs with Morph Loader Pro to restrict where morphs are applied.
- G8M UV - Base Male - Changes the 'UV Set' to the default Basic Male UV layout.
- G8M UV - Single UV Tile Even Density - Changes the 'UV Set' to a custom UV layout. This moves all the uv shells into a single non-overlapping uv tile with equal texture density while maintaining the original orientation of the uv shells. This is good for projecting full body photographs to ensure the details are captured evenly. However, any textures created with this UV Set will need to be projected back to the Basic Male UV layout if you want to combine it with other Daz textures.
- G8M UV - Single UV Tile - Changes the 'UV Set' to a custom UV layout. This layout moves all the UV Shells into a single non-overlapping layout while maintaining the original layout of the skin UV Shells. It is optimized for skin painting and texture baking, so the eyes and mouth (usually textured separately) are placed into blank areas of the Torso and Legs uv tile. Textures created with this method just need to be cropped in an image editing application to be used. For example, a single 8192 x 8192 texture with this UV Set can be cropped into 4 individual 4096 x 4096 textures that line up with the original Basic Male UV Layout (excluding the eyes mouth).
- Set SubD 0 / 1 / 4 - Self explanatory.
I may still add a few more things, but this will be released either with the video tutorial for the workflow or released before if I can't make time for the video.
I hope I'm not clogging this thread up too much, I'm happy to create a dedicated thread and migrate the information if people would prefer.
How do I move my content to another drive? For some content I used the Install Manager, other items were downloaded from within Daz Studio. Do those count as the same thing?
No. Not the same thing.
It just means more steps in the process.
I'm going to create a step-by-step for you. It will take a bit of time, but should be posted later today.
I'm doing the same as winduptoy, and I have several hundred non-DAZ items (Rendo, etc.).
What do I need to do with them? I assume DIM won't transfer them.
I'd hate to have to reinstall them manually, hunt them down, create new products in the Content Library, etc.
Could I just copy the DAZ 3D Library from the C drive and paste it onto the D drive? (In my case, F)
And, since the new drive is a large SSD, should I move Studio to it for speed?@Petercat, My answer above was specific to winduptoy's situation. It isn't necessary to uninstall/reinstall with DIM, either. But I recommended it as he is using DIM and probably doesn't have a lot of product installed. I have found it really handy to be able to go to DIM and look up the installed files. Any products installed prior to moving things around manually will lose their links in that feature.
As long as you move the entire library with the structure intact, you can copy and paste it wherever it works best for you. You can even have multiple libraries on multiple drives. The important thing is to tell Daz Studio where to find them. You'll do that in Preferences.
Be aware that SSDs have read/write limitations, so I wouldn't use the new drive for renders, or any files that will get written to on a regular basis. Your drive will last longer. But installing the program files on it shouldn't be an issue. I actually have 4.9 and 4.10 installed on my E-Drive, (thanks to JOdel's instructions.)
My current C drive is a 4TB, as is the SSD that I bought. Could I just use the SSD manufacturer's clone software to copy the C drive and then delete the non-DAZ files?Probably, but I wouldn't recommend it. You're going to have a lot of non-Daz files to remove. I have never used it, but it looks like Robocopy is supplied with Windows. Unless you're running an old version, or are on a Mac, you probably already have it. (I just checked, and it's on my Win7 machine…)
ETA: As it appears you are using DIM for Daz content, I would also suggest you not move your DIM download folder to the SSD. Dim rewrites those files with every update you download. And the Manifest files get written to every single time you open DIM. (Not sure what it does, but the time and date get updated, implying it does something.)
What is some of your favourite content for male characters?I have to be honest, even as someone who primarily renders women, good male content can be very welcome.
There's some things I've manually transferred from G3M to G8F (preserving the rigging rather than relying on auto-fit) because sometimes you do want a witch hunter outfit that's not corsets and cleavage, or a suit of armour that doesn't come with a mini-skirt.
I'll buy anything for the girl side, but having military stuff that matches between the genders is important to me.I have on occasion had to do renders where I've had to morph the men from women or vice versa in order to get matching uniforms for both (seeing as Auto-fit can mess up rigging on a lot of things, and doing a permanent transfer takes time and effort)
Dark ElfYou may need to get in touch with Quanto at Renderosity and ask them directly.
Or, if you don't need an exact match, you could use Mika 7, with some add ons, like https://www.daz3d.com/mika-7-morph-resource-kit-for-genesis-3-female https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-female-fantasy-morph-resource-kit maybe using others. And does it need to be G3? There are more resources availabe for G8. And you can use any suitable skin texture, paid or free, for G3.
What features would you like to see appear in dazstudio 5?It's easy to have the focus slip out of the text box if the mouse moves over a slider (or other UI element that responds to mouse-over)
I'll keep a watch for that although I really don't know what good it would do if I was to type in a morph name like frown or left eye up and get 70 or 80 morphs all with that name in the figure which is what would happen
What features would you like to see appear in dazstudio 5?For the figures to load without every morph set that I have already in them
Set up something like we had in poser with the morph injections where you could have as many or as few as you wanted
God no please - I really don't want to go back to all that hassel. If you like the way Poser does things then use Poser.
What I don't like is having 900 different morphs to sort through to find the correct one
There is no real reason to have every morph load in every figure
There are reasons, for example this way I have everything there when I want to dial spin, I don't suddenly have to pause my work flow to go find where the inj is for a certain morph I might decide is needed, this would take a lot longer to do than simple typing in the search bar.
If you can get usable results from the search bar I envy you as I very seldom can even get it to function and when it does I have days worth of hits to look at provided it hasn't crashed
The saerch (filter) box in the property panes is, I think, what Scorpio means
And once again there's still no reason to have every morph loaded in the figure especially when there are numerous ones that all do the same thing I mean really how many breast large morphs or angry face morphs or open hand close hand fist do you need in the same figure
That was my assumption as well and I've never had it work in any version of Studio and that's with everything being installed through DIM guess I'm just lucky that way
At least we no longer have to type in xyz coordinates for each vertice point by hand like we did when I first started

My personal advices would be for you to use robcopy functions in roder to do it smoothly enough. From my personal experience it's the best way to copy large groups of files.
You can also reinstall your DAZ software to an SSD althought from my expirence it won't make such a difference. But still, it's easy to try and compare times by yourself. Good luck!

dForce simulation issueHello,
I don't know if this is the right place for my question... Please bear with me!
I have a cloth simulation: it should fall on a table. The cloth is dForce compatible but when I run the simulation, all the part of the dress gracely fall but the chest and collar.
I think is something morph related but wasn't able to spot it out. I am attaching some pictures to explain better. Hope that someone will be able to help me undestand.
Thank you,
Adam
Problem with Maia HD for Ellithia 8Ah man, I love Hellboy's stuff and was fixing to buy this as soon as I got home tonight. Now I might monitor this thread a little first. <sigh>
Wonder what is going on - this seems to be happening more and more with various G8 figures lately. Hopefully it can be resolved at a higher level that keeps if from happening again and again (from different PAs even).Just wanted to pop in and let you know why this happens. Character makers make Character Presets to load their character in fully without having to dial, shape, add textures, etc to them. Generally, it's no biggie, but in a character preset, every dial that is saved-- for that preset-- has the default value set to whatever it is on the character preset. In this case Maia's preset was set to 100% on that character preset. When character makers are doing their final checks, sometimes (oftentimes) they will notice an issue with a morph dial, so they will fix and resave the morph. The problem is, if they fix it after having loaded the character preset, the morph they adjust will save with a default value of 100% instead of 0% because on the character preset, the dial has a default of 100%. It's *really* easy to do, and it's even easier to miss. Testing a product, you're making sure you don't get errors that something is missing. You don't get errors that something extra is there so it's really easy to miss. The fix is, like Hellboy said, setting the default to 0 in the parameters and resaving the morph dial. In our attempts to get stuff to you guys faster, we've missed some things, but we all know it's happened several times recently, and we're all trying to make sure we don't do it again, and we appreciate y'all's patience.
Also-- how gorgeous is Maia, right? :D
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 12Sophia For Ellithea 8 Charli Hair (Gen3F / Gen8F) Casual Spikes Hair (Gen 3 / 8 Male and Female) Sophisticated Jeni Outfit (G8F)
The lip color is custom- I added metallicity and darken the base color to a mauve. I also increased the glossy reflectivity and reduced its bump a tad. The lighting is a spotlight (Charli hair one is from the side, then moved it to the front/side for the Spikes Hair) coupled with Dumor's Apocalyptic Plant Outdoor Set 1. I still really like that HDRI product for portraits, it gives a late afternoon/ early evening vibe, depending on which one you pick and your Tone Mapping settings. But it really catches the moisture in the skin and avoids a pasty skin look.
I really like the materials for the Jeni Outfit, the one thing I changed was the purse. It's basically off white.
TIP: To add the brown trim you should use 164 / 154 / 135 in the base color (Surface tab) You can select the sections shown, but that white pocket is NOT a separate material zone.
TIP: Casual Spikes Hair is a good one for under hats. You can lower the height of the hair.I'm a bit ho-hum on the Charli Hair, you can't really reduce that huge side. The morph which says to shrink the sides only affects the lower middle part. You're stuck with very wide hair from the upper cheek up. So if you look at the morphs and think, "I'll shrink that" you won't be able to do it. (That part which is the bangs sweeping over onto the side of the hair. That part of the hair (the side where the bangs lay) does not shrink. You have to scale down the entire thing.

Default genesis load corrupted?@Richard, yeah... Aiko is dialled to .50 along with an elf-ear morph and other random things despite my load which should be clean. Like completely new/blank scene and a new Genesis model but for some reason it's got these random alterations as soon as I load it.
LOL @Bejaymac. That sounds fun XD Honestly, I think I've done that somehow. I suppose that's what I get for messing about with morph assets half asleep.
@Drunkmonkey I think I'll try that. I'll just do it later after I've slept so I can't mess anything else up by mistake. Thanks :)
@cm152335 Yup. Everything was new/clean. I was intending to import a morph through morph loader but didn't get that far since my Genesis figure, which was supposed to be a blank canvas, had other morphs in it already and wasn't sure how that would screw with my imported morph.
I'll update everyone on how it goes later on today after I've slept. Thanks for the help everyone
