  • Save Fit Control morphs to clothing figure

Save as... then chose Wearable(s) preset, and follow the other prompts.

You'll select the clothing from a menu;) You could also save the clothing as a subset, you need to unparent the clothing first. And after merging the cloth into another scene you will have to re fit it to your character.

That will keep the fit control morphs intact?

As far as I remember, yes. Why don't you try it yourself? Worst thing that can happen is you have to reload fit control;)

Going to give it a try. Too bad I only have the fit control for g2 (hence the reason I'm trying to save the morphs to the clothing for when I apply them to g3). :)

You could also: Unfit the clothing, zero out all morphs/modifications except the fit control morphs, set resolution to base, hide everything except the clothing and export as .obj. Select the clothing and zero figure shape, import the .obj with morphloader to create a morphslider with your fitcontrol morphs. Now you can either save the clothing as a werable preset (need to fit it to a character first) or as a subset, or you can save the morph as a support asset/morph asset if you want to include the morph with the original clothing. Just make sure the default value is set to zero.

There's no hat object nor any indication what hat it should be used on.

The "hat  morph" is for the hair, it morphs the hair so it can fit under hats without poking through them.

Ah.  Thanks for the clarification.  Makes sense now.

  • Figure distortion when changing posture (genesis 8)

Please put the Viewport in Smooth Shaded view, using the sphere icon next to the button for picking the camera/view at top-right, before taking a screen shot of a nude figure.

That looks like a correction morph kicking in when it shouldn't - it should happen only when some extreme shape is applied, making the bend look good when it would otherwise have nasty intersections or crumples. If you open the parametrs pane option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) and check Show Hidden Parameters then click the Currently Used group on the left of the pane that should reveal the culprit - just try zeroing those that appear until the effect goes away. With luck the name of the slider will reveal the product that is causing this and you can, after making sure your version is up-to-date, report it to support (for a product sold here) or the vendor.

  • [Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female(Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]

I struggled for a bit on what I wanted to make at first.  I decided I didn't want to make a convert-morphs product.

I don't understand. If this product doesn't convert morphs and not UV's, what does it do?

I have to admit this is my query as well, along with - will there be a G8 Male version?

It DOES convert morphs, but instead of "here is a list of morphs, choose which ones, (think GenX2)" it concentrates on making it easy to just select a character and it will convert the used morphs for that character.

    Got it! yes

This looks like a really cool product! If this is going to be a series of products like your hair and clothing converters... I'd be very interested in a version that converts G2 and Genesis characters to G8! (Getting way ahead again, so sorry!smiley)

Interesting.  That is two people that have written that they are interested in earlier generations.  I would have thought that that market would have already been fulfilled by other offerings and nobody would want earlier generations.

I think that there would be an audience, since GenX basically transfers morphs rather than characters. I myself didn't get into the game until G3, but I know others have dial-spun characters they made in earlier generations that they'd love to import over quickly, as opposed to figuring out each dial and transferring those separately.

Edited to add: Sounds like this particular script would also be great in terms of transferring over characters that were made solely from existing morph products (like Saiyaness's characters). In that case, would this product create entirely separate versions of the same dial property (like nose height over and over if the same G3 dial was used in separate characters), or just keep 1 version?

As for those talking about Singular Blues's script, I haven't used it anytime recently, but I was under the impression that that did convert JCMs, etc. But that script is strictly a morph converter.

Only 1 version of a morph is kept.  It either overwrites the morph again and again or just avoids overwriting any morphs (this is an option).  FYI, the overwrite option is significantly slower as I think DS does some housekeeping when you delete a morph that takes awhile.

This script can convert JCMs as long, as they are used.  However, it does not connect the JCMs back up (so that they don't engage when a shoulder pose gets too extreme for example)

I'm looking for a period hat such as the tricorner shown in the product page.  It's not really missing but what's included is just a morph material.  There's no hat object nor any indication what hat it should be used on.

  • Feet HD Detail (Or Lack Thereof)

I feel better about my own feet after reading this post. I have pes planus (flat feet) that are 12 EEEEEE with very stubby toes (I think someone referred to them earlier as Shrek feet). I doubt I will see any feet like mine on a 3d character, but I would like to see flat foot morphs on a couple of my characters. Necriseye has inspired me to try my own morph when I have some time to devote to this.

  • ITF Character Dev Kit for G8M

ITF Dev Kit for Genesis 8 Male by InTheFlesh

A collection of useful tools to speed up your workflow when creating content for Genesis 8 Male.

Make sure watch the tutorial on Youtube for a full walkthough of all the tools:

Created in Daz Studio Pro 4.11

    __________________________________

Once installed, you will find the ITF Dev Kit folder under People -> Genesis 8 Male -> ITF Dev Kit.

    1. Load G8M Basic loads Genesis 8 Male at Subdivision Level 1 with a grey Iray shader I use for test renders. The eyelashes have been removed and the Maximum Subdivision Level has been unlocked to level 4.

    2. Apply G8M Texturing Pose is a custom pose to allow for easier texturing. The fingers and toes have been spread apart and straightened, the legs are spread apart for increased access and the arms have been raised and straightened. I tend to texture the eyes and mouth separately, so the mouth is partially opened to reduce texture distortion when compared to having the mouth fully open but still allowing you to get and and texture the lips. The eyes are also mostly closed to give better access to the eyelids. You may need to make some adjustments when working with more extreme character morphs, so just go to Currently Used under parameters to tweak the eye and mouth opening.

    3. Explode Eyes and Teeth is a custom morph that moves the eye and teeth geometry out to the left of Genesis 8 Males head. The sclera, pupil and iris have been separated from the cornea and eye moisture. The teeth have been aligned and spread out for easier access during texturing. This morph is also useful for extracting texture maps because it reduces overlapping areas of the mesh.

    4. Zero Pose and Morph simply does as stated: it restores the default Genesis 8 Male pose and removes the Explode Eyes and Teeth Morph.

    5. Set SubD Zero, One and Four are one click options to set your desired Subdivision level without having to drill into the Parameters.

    6. Single UV Tile is a custom UV set that moves all the UV shells into a single non-overlapping layout. It is optimized for texture painting and baking in applications that don't support multiple UDIM tiles. Again, I usually texture the eyes and mouth separately so the UV's for those parts have been scaled down and placed into blank areas of the Torso and Legs UV's. If you use this UV set, you can convert the created textures to be compatible with the default Base Male UV Set by cropping them into 4 equal square textures.

    7. Skin UDIM UV is similar to the Single UV Tile in that the eye and mouth uv's have been scaled down and placed into blank areas of the Torso UV's. But instead of the UV's being on a single tile, the Face, Torso, Legs and Arms UV's are still in their original UDIM tile locations. This layout is my preference when working in Mudbox because it supports full UDIM texture painting and baking. Nothing needs to be done to the textures using this UV set to be compatible with the default Base Male UV's, but you can paint out the eye and mouth textures if you'd like.

    8. Single UV Tile Even Density is a custom UV set that moves all the UV shells into a single non-overlapping uv tile while scaling the parts to ensure even pixel density across the surface. This is especially useful when projecting full body photographs or extracting texture maps to reduce seams due to differences in UV scale. For example, the difference in pixel size between the face and torso textures. This UV set is also good for using tileable or procedural textures with consistent detail resolution across the mesh. The downside to this UV Set is that if you want to make the textures compatible with the Base Male UV Set you will need to project the textures which can result in a loss of fidelity. I'd recommend baking 16K maps if your hardware can handle it when using this UV Set.

    9. Base Male UV simply restores the default Genesis 8 Base Male UV Set.

    10. Export Base OBJ changes the selected figure to Base Resolution 0 and SubD 0 and prompts for a location to save an OBJ file. The settings used are designed for exporting to Mudbox and Maya, but may work with others.

    11. Export SubD OBJ exports the selected figure at the currently set Resolution and SubD Level. Again, it prompts for the save location and uses the same settings as before.

    12. Head, Eyes, Ears and Mouth DFormers load preset weight-mapped D-Formers. These are mostly used when importing morphs to define which parts get morphed or not. The Head D-Former has a soft falloff and can be used to split head and body morphs into separate parts. The Eyes D-Former can be used to ensure the eyes aren't affect by imported morphs. This has no falloff, so only the eye geometry is affected while the eye socket is still morphed. The Ears D-Former has a soft falloff, and the Mouth and Teeth D-Former also has a slight falloff for a smoother blend between the mouth and lips. By default, the imported morphs will be applied to the selected area. To prevent morphs from being applied to the D-Former selection, just set the Strength to minus one in the Attenuate By options.

I must say.  I am interested in this mostly because it looks like the japanese style of orc. Who are much more like bigs and still with ork like tusks

i will add this then i have new salary. since those paypal stuff apears days and days after i bought it. and it makes it hard to realy know how much i realy have on my bak account :/

which means i need to watch out before I buy stuff ..and get a message in like 3 or 5 days about no money left -.-

i would be interested about.. how much more can i morph the face to e pig?

there was a game i loved to play, called die by the sword. with orcs who are just human bodies with a boar head

Sorry I do not understand your question. You can tweak any morph with whatever dials you want, but you cannot make a morph to be more of something than it is. The face of the character is the face of the character.

No chance of a tail in an update?

No...this character was not designed to have a tail

  • PoserDAZ Freebie Site - Image Creation Party 2019

Is it required to make new renders of the freebies? Some of the freebies I have, I haven't used for several years. What about scenes where more than one freebie is depicted? I'm thinking renders from the Daz Freebie render challenges hosted here. There's always more than one.

What SixDs said is the intent of these renders. But that does not mean that something, say a morph of a character could not be displayed in a scene. As for the new render rule what we are trying to do is get a more up to date image if we can. You can still use an old render but what with iRay and the changes made to 3Dlight and uber shaders and lights the freebie may look a lot different.  By doing a new render you are actually confirming that the freebie will work in the new environments. Here is a link to a gallery of images of V4 hair freebies. You can click on the image and go to the page.I think the best way to think about a freebie render is to think about standing in front of a store window display. A simple background, some good contrast, ie bright light and putting the freebie center stage. The attached images are ones I did for some of Mapps plants, Lyra's MilDragon textures and Kaz42's Nobiax Shader presets. These examples show how you can display multiple items if the freebie has something like that. You do not have to follow these examples exactly. This is not a set of rules just ideas to get your juices going.

  • [Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female(Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]

A question to better understand the product - and as it is not a transfer-morphs-product. If I pick a character, dial in some other morphs, save it as a new character preset. Could I convert that preset? And if so, are the several morphs still adjustable or would it be just one "converted-morph" which is dialed in with 100%?

Yes.  The script converts ALL used morphs separately so they are available on the G8F.  (BTW, you don't have to save the character preset.  You can just spin dial in some morphs in a scene and it will convert those over, and create a controller property.  It wouldn't create the character preset in this case)

If I want to use LAMH presets created for dog 8 (here in the forum as freebies in the dog 8 thread) on dForce Oso Pooka for Daz Dog 8 instead of the dforce furs, does anyone know how that would work? Same curiosity for the dForce Oso Lechuza for DAZ Dog 8, too.

More curiosity ... if I want to use the fur from Big Cat-Dog for Daz Dog 8 on the dachshund, make him have tiger or lion fur, how would I do that? I'd love a lion chihuahua, lol. Does anyone know how to morph a chihuahua? And how hard would using the skins and hair and tail morphs from Anubis Hound for Daz Dog 8 on any other dog 8 breed be?

  • Cinder without Kanade Base

@SBibb I did a render of Cinder without Kanade 8 for you. I stopped it early because I noticed all the lines on her texture so there are stilll some fireflies. I'm not sure if those lines are from my lighting or her skin, possibly set with the wrong UV. I'm investigating it with different lighting now to see if those lines still show up.

As for her morph, it's distinctly different without Kanade 8 mixed in. She sort of looks like an older, more wiser version of Kanade. My first instinct on seeing her in the viewport was to say she is the one figure I might consider telling people not to buy unless you get the required figures because she looks terrible. But, that's only in the viewport. Rendered, she actually looks like an interesting character, especially with the makeup that drew me to her in the first place. She has a more Gothic feel to her that I love.

I have not rendered her with Kanade 8 yet. Once I suss out the issue with the skin, I plan to render a side by side. Assuming I can figure out the skin issue, I think she's worth getting even without Kanade 8, depending on what style you go for. I won't put the image in the post. I'll wait until I have a proper full render for that, but you should be able to click on the attachment to see it at full size in a new tab.

edit: I thought it wasn't going to a new tab so scratched it out, but it looks like it actually is so I undid the strikethrough.
