Any word on the lost world and this one being released?

  • What are the benefits of Carrara versus DAZ Studio?

I'm a relatively new DS user. I'm trying to do pose-to-pose animation in DS, but I suspect it's impossible. When I tweak the tweened frames, they affect poses both forward and backward in time. I feel like I'll never get it right.

So I'm thinking about using another program to animate DAZ characters. I like a lot of what iClone offers, especially realtime animation(!), but currently it appears to me that DAZ characters can't wear clothes very well, and pokethrough could be a huge nightmare. I think that's a dealbreaker for me.

I'm wondering if Carrara works better, and also what differences I need to know about before embarking on a Carrara carreer.

Do DAZ characters wear clothes and move well without pokethrough in Carrara?

What is rendering like? In DS, I've found that due to GPU acceleration, Iray is far faster than 3Delight for real scenes with sets. Plop a Minotaur in the Lost World, and Iray is done before 3DL gets past 14%. Should I expect Carrara to be extremely slow to render? Does it have any kind of fast, low-quality rendering mode so you can look for problems with the animation without having to wait for days to see it?

What else can you think of that a DAZ Studio user should know about Carrara?

  • Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7

I will check for you.  The lost world is such a massive set I actually scaled him way up for that render.  He scales perfectly with no issues at all.  I have another render cooking right now not sure how long its going to be. Will line them up next to each other either tonight or tomorrow and check for you.  And yes far too many goodies coming down the pipeline recently!

Novica, that was a happy accident, I was turning the dome and it just happened to hit him just right.  I love love love dinosaurs.  I picked up most of the rest of what was in the 80% off sale that I had bookmarked as well.  And it looks like he will be making a lot more new models just for Studio so I am totally excited lol.

I like her, complete with freckles. She doesn't really fill a hole (I'm still waiting for Arabs) but I'll get her anyway :-). The 'armour' outfits don't interest me so it's the base figure for me + the Melee hair. The lost world is lovely too, reminds me of some run-down places outside Stockholm which I keep seeing urbex shots from in my FB flow from time to time.

This is pretty much my situation in a nutshell.  Base figure is great but bundle options not so much.  For me it's probably going to be the base figure and the lost world.  Also, according to the terms of today's sale, even the purchase of just the base figure sets you up for the added discount on Ivan later this month and I am always needing more male options.

The vines are from the lost world the vegetation.  I honestly may have just forgotten to add the mats.  It was late and I have a terrible sinus infection lol. Thats why I have gotten a lot done, don't feel really well enough to do much else after work at the moment   The lighting is a combo of Khory's new scintillating portrait lights and some point lights

  • D/S workspace and videocards

I'm looking at trying to improve the D/S workspace performance. I currently have a 256bit video card with 1GB. When trying to work with something like http://www.daz3d.com/the-lost-world, it loads barebones and movement isn't too bad. When I enable the plants, it turns into a slideshow. I have read previous questions about recommended cards. The answers mostly talked about more memory on the video card (from what I remember). With D/S 4.8 and Iray things have changed for rendering, but what about the workspace? Does the Memory Bus width come into play at all? Example, would there be more benefit from a 384bit card with 3GB or a 256bit card with 4GB?

A lot of thoughts going through my head, so hopefully this makes sense.

  • Superheroes Rebooted - Ready to Rrrrrender?

Sadly no, and I can't really find another loin cloth for M4.

You can use bits of this set maybe tweak the textures a bit http://www.daz3d.com/woodgod-m4-h4

    this set for genesis http://www.daz3d.com/jungle-majesty

bits of this set also work http://www.daz3d.com/zareb-tribal-clothes-for-m4

My favorite two depictions of Tarzan are the classic Frazetta one and the Disney

Frazetta and H.R. Giger were like Gods to me I love their work but that's a story for another day.

I met Franks Grand daughter last year at supercon she was very pretty and very nice. I was able to also look though an old scrap book that Frank kept. I cried a little bit. but yeah here you have a couple of Franks Tarzan images

The enchanted Forest 1 and 2 make great back drops.
also this set could make for some nice images http://www.daz3d.com/the-lost-world

if you want a tutorial on scene construction my friend from erogenesis-art is working on one for this scene. she has a couple of them on her blog spot but there is a lot of nudity so be forewarned, her stuff is amazing. These two below have nudity but the scenes are epic.

    http://erogenesis-art.deviantart.com/art/Preparing-Sen-1-481403363

You always have the option of getting some custom clothing made too. My friend Ken 1171 does things for a more than reasonable price and his stuff is amazing.

you also have the Jeffrey Jones Tarzan images.

  • Lost World and Ultimo Paradiso load scripts aren't working..

I get a message that states that certain files aren't found when I try to load the Lost World with vegetation and Ultimo Paradiso with vegetaion.

I can load Lost World without plants fine but then I have to add all of the plants (Time consuming)
In Ultimo Paradiso I can only load the props individually - none of the load scripts work.

Does anyone know the fix to this, I really like these scenes but have a hard time to use them since they take so long to configure.

Hi, if you want contact me at "[email protected]" and I will help you out.
As Richard said, probably the scripts are not in the correct location.

DAZ Studio has instancing that should aid you in crowd placement.

"Instancing".. what is it and how do I use it?

Instancing renders multiple copies of the same mesh in a scene at once. Products like the Lost World take advantage of this.

  • RELEASED: The Lost World [Commercial]

here is my first render with "the lost world", took 2,5hrs because I think my shading rate at 0.5 and shadow bias of the sun(ray traced) at 0.5 and because of the reflection and plants :) even the plants were rendered relativly fast for ray traced.

  • Science Fantasy

Good inspiration for science fantasy would be Edgar Rice Burroughs" Barsoom and Caspak series, John Norman, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Mark Schultz' Xenozoic Tales, Flash Gordon. Any of those would be good examples of Science Fantasy.
