No, it was Michael 4 too, I had 2 Michaels 4 in the scene, but Poser renames the second one as Michael 5, but it was Michael 4

Hi, I'm using Daz Studio Pro 4.6.2.118 on a Windows 7, 64 bit system.
I have a small solid state drive as my C drive, so programs (DAZ Studio and DAZ Install manager are in Program Files and Program Files (x86), respectively, and MyDAZ Library is in Docments on my D drive.

When try to load genesis (through Categories>Default>Figures>People>Male>Real World (same happens if I go under products and find genesis)
get Missing Files popup warning:

Some assets needed to load the file were missing. The content may not work as expected.
The following files could not be found:
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf

trying to load basic male gives same warning plus missing
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D Base/FBMBasicMale.dsf

Get similar message when I try to load genesis 2

Just tried loading m4 - get errors there as well - can't find file
D"/Users/Robert/Documents/MyDAZ 3D Library/Runtime/libraries/DAZ/Michael 4/hip/01-ps_mr627_Chnn;s.pz2 and countless others - eventually hit stop asking - runs for a while than can't locate Aged for M4 . . .
Hit stop asking again and eventually loads

Just installed the latest Daz Install Manager, and I had it reinstall Genesis Starter Kit - still getting same errors.

First of all, welcome to the wonderful world of 3d rendering! :)

Second off, the items you want probably already exist, you just need to search the various vendor sites to find them. Some of them can even be found for free, and can be used however you see fit (the typical caveat being that you can't use free items in something you charge for). Deviantart, Renderosity and ShareCG all have extensive free content available - it just takes some digging to find it sometimes.

Third, DAZ Studio is the name of the program - Genesis is the name of the figure you pose and ultimately render. Here is a very handy guide to the various generations of figures. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24257/

Genesis is included free with DAZ Studio 4.6, you just have to make sure you download the Genesis Starter Essentials.

The good news is that Auto-Fit can make clothing for Generation 4 figures (Michael 4, Victoria 4, etc.) fit the Genesis figure, and Auto-Fit comes free with DAZ Studio 4.

For whether DAZ is better than Poser, that's a matter of personal preference. Poser has a lot of capability but you also pay for it, while DAZ may not be able to do everything Poser can but is 100% free - the bulk of DAZ cost is purchasing the content.

The solution is to buy:
TC2 - V4
TC2 - Michael 4 Plug-in
Texture Convertor 2 (TC2)
and convert the textures of M4 to V4, and then using the uv_set V4, and all goes well.
Here are some examples of texture M4 converted to V4, and applied in Genesis (PZ3 format), and rendered in vue10complete

If I have 4 or more figures from DAZ (Michael 4, Kids 4, etc.) in scene in Poser Pro 2012 and I apply a voice with talk designer, the program crashes and quit.

If I have 3 or less Daz figures, it works normal, but if I have 4 or more it crashes. I tried this solution, but it didn't work:

This is just my own opinion and preference, but since you asked, I will share it. I haven’t seen any outfits available that are EXACTLY like those in Skyrim – (well, with the exception of objects of dubious legality that wouldn’t fit any figures without rigging and a lot of work) – so you would probably need to mix and match parts to get the look you are going for. I am not sure if your statement about not needing Daz Studio models means that you don’t specifically need them, or don’t want them as you only use Poser, so I will respond with both sorts of models.

Short Answer: Would be Ragnarok by Mortem Vetus at RDNA – These clothes do best in Poser, though I use them in DS with great results. (Ragnarok is for Michael 4.) Here's a fast render, please forgive multiple mistakes as I haven't really worked with this image - it's done in Daz, character on the left is Michael 6 Nathan (by Jepe) - character on the right is M4 with Mortem Vetus' Rolf, both wearing Ragnarok outfit. This outfit is really amazing - 14 pieces of conforming clothing and also includes props - the clothing has material zones and can be changed, as well as having 2 texture sets available.

I have installed Pro Body motion capture software by Brekel, http://www.brekel.com/, to animate Characters that I use in Daz studio 4.6 Pro.
I have made a proof. I made a BVH file, setting the software with the file options for daz/poser. When I import this new bvh file in to Daz, and I Apply it, for example, to Michael 4 character there are abnormal deformations, hip bone (and other joints) have random rotations and then whole thing turns out to be one big confusion.
Can You help me tell me what are the correct instructions to create an animation without this deformations? I have already send this mail to Brekel but the answer the answer was not satisfactory

I'm looking for a "UV Set" parameter in Carrara to fix one last detail of importing a face onto a Genesis model.

I have FaceGen, took pictures of my subject, created a 3d head mesh with skin texture. Exported it using their Export module for DAZ.

I go into DAZ, following their steps for importing the shape of the mesh onto a Genesis figure, then the skin texture. It looks misaligned, I tinker, and eventually find that the default UV Set in the Surfaces tab was set to Michael 4. I change that to Genesis Male, and that fixes the problem.

I go into Carrara to do the same since it's my preferred environment. I get the mesh shape, the skin texture, but it comes out misaligned. I've been scouring the (crazy) documentation for a "UV Set" equivalent, but cannot find the beast.

Does anyone know where I can find it?

The Axis from Hex is directly related to the Ground plane center in Hex. That should not matter when doing a Transfer/Fit to the mesh the item was created for if it was loaded into hex as the reference to create the new object.

Thanks for the advice! I'm still not sure about this: There seem to be quite a few items available for older versions of Michael 4, for example. If I get the Michael 4 base, will that work with DS 4.6? And once I get that base, I'm assuming that all the add-ons, morphs, etc. for Michael 4 should also work?

It is and i did all that too many times. Not sure why it doesn't work but it doesn't. Looks like it could have been a nice package just not being nice with me. When I installed the morph and then tried installing the mina morphs the head would shrink and then return to normal every time I injected s new morph from the set. When I checked the dials there was no indication that there were any Enhanced or Mina dials installed.

Thanks to the backwards compatibility, both Genesis and Genesis 2 are ideal figures to invest in. The Generation 4 figures are Victoria 4, Michael 4 and The Kids 4, often shortened to V4, M4 and K4. They are still great figures, but they have almost no compatibility between figures. That means that if you buy a dress for V4, it will ONLY fit V4 and cannot be fit onto K4 for example. Also any reshaping you do to V4 may affect the fit of the clothing, which will require manual adjustments to fix.

With Genesis, the clothing will change shape depending on the figure allowing you to use every morph at your disposal. Genesis comes with youth morphs out of the box, allowing you to turn adults to tots and teens very easily, while Genesis 2 will require the additional purchase of the 'Growing Up' morph packs. There is also a version of these morphs for Genesis which will give you greater control over the default aging.

There's a host of free Genesis and Genesis 2 items available from Wilmap's ShareCG.

I found some stock photos on a number of the larger sites that demonstrate muscles in isolation (e.g. www.shutterstock.com images 170000462 and 177699896). They appear to have been created from the Michael 4 and Muscle Maps programs; however, I haven't been able to figure out how to create the effect through Daz Studio.

Does anyone know if and how I can create the effect of just one muscle (or muscle group) being highlighted?
