    Another beautiful character from Bluejuante!

So...I hate to ask for even more things, since Bluejuante already gives us so much, and I know that there are ways to do this myself to some extent, but I would love it if we could get hands-only and feet-only morphs of BJ's characters.

I don;t know if it's true of the more recent Bluejaunte characters, but the product page for Lyra says:

Her feet have been heavily sculpted which may result in shoes not fitting properly. For those cases I have included a neutralizing dial for the foot shape so you can dial them back out again. And of course you could set this to a negative value to give the feet to your other characters.

I dont understand. How do you give BJ feet to another character?

There is a separate morph slider for the feet and you can them apply it to any character

Yes but you add it by setting the slider to a negative?

@Kharma Can I see your GenX Transfer settings?

@Zev0 I have been trying to do a new GenX tranfer and for some reason it's suddenly not working to tranfer a gen2 to a gen 3 , it won't seem to pick up all the morphs to tranfer ... once I get it working I will post the settings I used to transfer using Xtranser

    Thanks all!

Bluejaunte said in another thread that feet morphs were a possibility and they won't rule it out.

I agree about Nadya - she is beautiful. Also, was it intended to give her an eastern European look that correlates with her name? I get that vibe from her but it could be accidental.

Yes could be a Russian model or something. She's pretty tall too, I'm not sure the promos allude to the fact that she's like 1.85m.

All my characters have a feet neutralizing morph, if you dial this to minus 100% you can give the feet to anyone.

  • XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)
I'm also of the happy few because this works for me. Granted I'm not on beta and this was a DA G3 character and not a GenX character. It transformed well, I could put the G3 maps on it and just tweaked the shaders. I converted Mei Lin 7 this way and she looks good on G8F. The only thing I noticed that G8 Mei Lin 7 is taller than G3 Mei Lin 7, although I transferred the body morph too and the body morph applies well itself. But G8 Mei Lin 7 is a tad shorter than G8F base, so the morph did something to adjust the height. But this is so minor an issue it doesn't bother me at all.

Hope the issues can be resolved, it's a wonderful product if it works.

  • XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)

This might help someone. I was getting the dreaded 71% hang. After a bit of trial and error I found a method that works for me. It's a bit manual, and involves fresh installs of G3, G8 and the characters you want to transfer. Not ideal, but I'm getting successful results so far.

    1. In a new folder (not where you currently have G3 and G8 installed), place a new copy of the bases. I just downloaded the Starter Essentials again, and unzipped them to the new folder. Do the same for the characters you want to transfer, eg. V7. Also, install a copy of XTransfer to this new folder.

    2. Remove or rename (don't delete, of course!) your main content folder (where G3 and G8 is installed) so that DAZ doesn't recognise it. Add your new folder to your DAZ content library.

    3. Load G3 from the new folder, favourite what you want to transfer and run the script. Save to the new folder. It worked really quickly for me. Took 2 minutes to fully transfer V7. Then I favourited about 15 characters that I'd installed in the new folder. They all only took just over 20 minutes or so. It hangs on 71%, and then on 85%, but it does work.

    4. Once the script finished, I moved the newly created Xtransfer folder from the fresh data folder to my original main folder, removed the fresh folder and added my main folder back to the content library so that DAZ recognises it. I loaded the original install of G8F, it had all of the transferred morphs.

It's a bit more of a hassle than I'd like, but I've gone through and tested a lot of the morphs and they are working. No mesh explosions so far. The results are pretty accurate. I'm happy with the product.

Hope this method helps those that are struggling to get it to work.

  • Genesis Generation X2 question

Matt, I think it's not so much what the developers are 'assuming' as much as its simpler to work from newer back to older meshes and filling the most immediate need/gap first- with gen x there was already conversion tools for older gen characters but nothing yet for G8, so that would be the first, most immediate character to set up transfers first. Others may yet be added, but have less immediacy- after all, many of us already have converted older morphs (Although zev's new transfer tool and the way it transfers jcms and mcms and related morphs makes it FABULOUSLY helpful and if it gets versions for older generations I'm definitely buying them too, hands down).
As for male to female morphs, the hard part there for every developer is the breasts- they're often baked into a morph and wouldn't really have a way to do that if it's not the default female/male shapes.  That said I bet Zev could figure it out but i'm guessing it'd be a ton of work, and there's so many wild shapes. :D I think zev0 has a list a mile long of things people want... heh.
Btw, I converted over all my V4/M4 philosopher's egg characters (mouse, pic, horse, rabbit, badger) etc... slowly with the genx stuff and then finally via Xtransfer and Xtransfer was by far the simplest and fastest. :) Needs tweaking as the GenX stuff lost some of the jcms and rigging and stuff- only got the morphs and some of them a bit messed up like nails, but fairly redoable in G8 anyway. But the Xtransfer from Zev handled the rest of the transfers really well, and i'm thrilled to have my old favorite shapes.... Yes, if Zev works backwards compatible transfers, he will get my money again and again and again. ;) Will it happen?  Dunno, like i said, there's already converters there, and Zev's prob got tons to do already

  • Transferring Clothing Rig and Smoothing Causes Lockup

    Hello!

I have another question that I hope isn't too dumb...  I'm trying to take a bodysuit I purchased, export it as an OBJ, edit in ZBRUSH, texture in SP, and then bring back into DAZ.  I'm making very little change to the base mesh, but I am changing the vertex order so I cannot simply do a morph.  When I bring it back into DAZ, I'm following these steps:

    1) I load my figure in a base pose

    2) I load in the bodysuit, autofitted to the figure

    3) I load in my custom bodysuit (which basically just overlaps the other one in the exact same place)

    4) I go into Tranfer Utility, select the first suit as the source and the custom one as the target

    5) Under advanced options I'm selecting to replace the source with the taget, and I transfer over all morphs.

My custom suit replaces the other one, and it looks great.  IF I disable smoothinga nd move around everything is fine, with lots of poke through, but the second I turn on smoothing the whole thing goes grey and locks up.  IF I keep smoothing on, the second I change any position of the main character the whole thing locks up.

Do you have any idea why this would happen, or how I could achieve what I'm trying to do?  I'm not trying to re-package and distribute anything anybody else made, I'm just trying to quick-and-dirty make a very specific outfit for a few people (Deadpool, basically, for my own uses).  I guess I could simply use this without smoothing and then take it into Zbrush before render to fix all of the poke through, but I feel this would be a little more streamlined if I could just use it with smoothing.

    Any thoughts?

Try doing it in two steps.

    a) As normal as you describe but with no smoothing.

    b) After success add a smoothing modifier to the item.

  • G2 to G8 converter?

Since there are already G3 to G8 converters, it would make more sense to have a solid G2 to G3 converter, that can convert a G2 character morph to G3.

  • Transferring Clothing Rig and Smoothing Causes Lockup

I just read that I shouldn't use transfer utility on a character with morphs applied, just base G8F... is this true?  It could be my problem, I've been trying it on some Mousso character I think.  I'll have to try again in the morning...

  • Transferring Clothing Rig and Smoothing Causes Lockup

Well, every time I tried to rig to the character the mesh gets super crinkled and goes half inside the skin, if that makes sense.  It doesn't look like clothing, it's like it tries to be skin.

I must be doing the transfer utility wrong, so maybe I'll have to dig into that more.  It seems so simple in the videos, but the result I'm getting just isn't the same.

  • XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)

I decided to see if changing the Daz Studio layout to "City Limits" would make the XTransfer I did of Aiko 7 work. After the last failure, I removed the XTransfer folder from

    data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs

I changed the layout to "City Limits", favorited "Aiko 7", "Aiko 7 Head" and "Aiko 7 Body", and then, starting clean, re-ran the transfer. It all looked the same, so I executed it, and I got exactly the same behavior as before: It got to 71%, seemed to hang (though it was actually busy doing something), then DAZ Studio crashed. I also got the mangled version of G8F, as before, so I deleted the XTransfer folder again.

Anyone have any idea what any of that would be in layman's terms, and what I can do about it?

It seems to be unable to find the database, but that hasn't moved. In fact, I made absolutely sure to keep the relative paths the same on the new system as my old. And as I say, it was just fine the first few times I started Studio after reinstalling.

Since this error appeared, I've reinstalled Studio 4.12, reinstalled DIM, restarted the computer, and nothing helps. DIM itself seems to be fine, as far as I can tell -- because it's set to install to a different location than where I have Studio content, it pretty much never ever started the database on my old system, and that appears to be continuing on the new one, so that's not an issue as such.

I don't care about Smart Content, but I do use Transfer Utility and the RSSY/RiversoftArt scripts that depend on the metadata, so I really do need this to get back up.

Would using the standalone PostgreSQL installer be a good idea?

Any help will be much appreciated.

  • XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)

Hhi everyone.  First of all... Zev0.. awesome product!  <3 it!

I've been tinkering with it pretty much all day.  Here are some things I have found out that might help if you're having issues.  I'm running 4.12 btw

1:  If it wants to just hang up (if the elapsed timer is running.. but the memory usage is not... it's hung... 8h at 42% showed me this)  force close it.. delete the morphs created during that session and try again.  If you run a transfer... then try running another one (by loading g3 and going again.. it'll most likely hang... thatis what had been happening to me)   Advice:  close and reopen Daz before running another transfer to keep it from hanging up.

2:  I was getting a lot of distorted model transfers until I made sure my content library was t he one that contained g3 base and g8 base.  choosing that cut down a lot.

3:  Transferring dialer-based models (Like vvyktohria's Faith for example) did well for me... but it brought over a slew of morphs that G8 had anyway.

4:  I cannot get my Morph Loader Pro-based models to transfer without major distortion.  I have a couple of Mudboxed morph sets I'd love to see with the G8 flexibility.

I hope this tidbit and feedback helps.

Well my first thought is why are you trying to rig clothing to clothing?

Load the figure it's to be on, use the transfer utilities to rig the new clothing. Save as figure/prop.

I was able to get XTransfer working, although I've been changing so many things that I couldn't say what it was that fixed it. Here is Anneka 3 compared to Anneka 8. The HD details don't really shine through, but that's no surprise. Star, on the other hand, comes through the transfer with some interesting alterations. Here she is on either side of Star Prime, with (left) and without (right) the Star Body Proportions dial.

I am loving this tool, thank you for making it, good luck on ironing out all of the bugs. Here is the Yeti from over at Rendo. I hope you consider doing G8f to G8m and  vise versa morph tool

I just did my first transfer, using the favorite method. There might need to be a disclaimer that hitting multiple favorites for different products is a bad thing. I ended up with some freaky polygon explosions from that concoction...

Doing it from the morphs folder worked much better. Mr. Bear looks like he came out perfect. Well, except for his UVs...

I thought there was a recent product for transferring G3 UVs to G8, but I can't find it now. Was I only imagining that?

No. RedzStudio made a product that does it, but you can convert them yourself if you need to. What you need to do is convert the UV you want if it's for V7 or something like that and make it work on a basic G3 female. Genesis 8 uses G3 base UVs.
