There's a Mesh between my legs!
OK, here is what you do.
Look up the parameters tab of the clothing item. Make sure to check the box "Shoe Hidden Properties". When the pose is applied, go into the parameters, click currently used, and look for something like 'pJCMThighSide' in those parameters. When you find it, dial it back down to zero.
This might help some, but a more permanent fix is to weight map this spot on the clothes. You can also do both.
Under Tools you will find the Node Weight Map Brush. Click it. You will also need the Tool Settings tab. Go back to the clothing item in the Scene tab, and click on it into you get to the Pelvis bone. With the Pelvis bone of the clothing highlighted in the scene tab, go to the Tools tab and click General Weights to highlight it.
Once you do that, you should see the pelvis turn several colors of blue, orange and red. Go to the area between the legs and use the brush to paint it as red as possible.
FYI, you can have your leg spreading pose applied during this whole process. If you do, you can see as you paint that the clothing item will begin to change shape, hopefully for the better. The weight map effects how much the bone is effected by the pose.
Once you are done and happy, save the clothing as a either a new clothing prop, or overwrite the original. It may be better to save a new clothing prop with a slightly different name if you are concerned about screwing it up. That way you would have both before and after options. If this is a piece of clothing autofitted from a previous Genesis, then you will want to save this as a new item.
All in all, this only takes a couple of minutes, and this can mostly fix the problem for all future scenes with the newly saved clothing. This combined with the JCM dial should be enough most of the time, depending on what you are trying to fix.
Hey, thanks for this mini-tutorial. I'll give that a try since I've been complaining about this very problem for years. I do prefer dForce clothing now but many of the tighter fitiing pants don't have dForce and I'm not very good (yet) at figuring out the right settings. In the past, I've gone the route of making morphs in Blender but that can be restrictive to the particular pose I exported when I created the morph.
Oh, and I assume you mean we should save as Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset?
Hexagon BETA - version 2.5.2.137! (*UPDATED*)Whoever developed the smoothing brush in Hexagon should win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Every once a while run into a tool that just works so well. Well that, the soft selection and the Bridge and the Morph loader. Can't believe I almost passed over this whole toolset. Thanks to an Arki Tut showing morphs & ERC I tried this and was amazed how well the toolset works. Can crank out so many morphs fast and easy.
Big thanks to whoever made all these well-thought out tools.
Recommend plump/thick/muscular G8FHere's Kayless's Aurore with a little Boom Chica love (the plus head and plus body morphs that come with the morph extras).
New Installed Morphs Not AppearingI thought I would post an update.
I finally got the body morphs to show on my own since I had no responce to my ticket.
I tried everything short of finding and deleting the body morph files. In the end that is what it took, I delete all the Genesis 8 Female Body Morph "body" folders I could find. I deleted the body morph from the products list and I uninstalled with DIM and within DS. I then reinstalled from DIM. The morphs appeared once again in the products list where I clicked to install. I was VERY happy to find them listed now. However they still do not show under any of the body parts Editor list like the Musculature does, but do show in the slider window.
Hope this helps anyone else with this issue. I didn't find any real useful info during my search to resolve this.
Now I can really play with shaping and see what I come up with!
AFE Expressions not appearing in baked fbx animation exportI have an interesting issue that I'm hoping someone has a solution for.
I have an animation that I'm exporting out to fbx from Studio to test with facial mocap (a set of 52 expressions), using powerpose and AFE expressions (love them by the way). When exporting, I have only one rule set to "Anything" bake, and unchecked morphs. I verified that in the morph list, those AFE expressions that I'm using are coming out as YES (animating, see attached)
When I do that, all the expressions done with powerpose are there, but not the AFE ones. If I check morphs, of course everything breaks (see second image), its like all the expressions are tripled in strength (although when examining them, they are set to 100 only, both in studio and motionbuilder)
I tried exporting a file with just AFE expressions, again, nothing. Tried setting them as favorites (hoping this might help), nothing
Just for grins, I exported the same 52 expression animation to collada, using different settings (with morphs, without, baked morphs, exported), then converted to fbx, and all the powerpose keys came across, but not the AFE ones
I'm using the latest beta public build
Thanks for the help!
Problem with eyes using Face TransferI love this new addition, Face Transfer. I'm can create more models with it. The only problem I have (mostly, I do have another one) with it is the eyes. The 'whites of the eyes' are darker and sometimes dotted. I included two images, one of Daz's Elenora and the other, Shantell, I created using Face Transfer. Is this a bug with the program and I have to put up with it? Or is there an solution available?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have only played with Face Transfer very briefly, but I did notice the eyes issue as well.
You only need to that off for "eye moisture"
It appears to be mapping the Photos eyes over the Models eyes.
I dont know if its a fix but I got better results by going into Surfaces and turning Share Glossy OFF for the the eye surfaces (mositure, scalera, iries, pupils). Then when applying new eye surface materials they didnt have the painted over look.
Recommend plump/thick/muscular G8FThanks for the suggestions everyone. I like that Jemma character, the face is round and cute too which is what i'm looking for. I tried taking one of Blue Jauntes characters and applying some morphs to it but i just cant get it right. So i'm a bit hesitant to try the Z morphs or the Lyoness morph because i might not be able to get it to look right either.
The Boom Chica Morphs also have a pair of morphs under morph extras to make any character a nice plus size girl.

Sakura 8I dont think so.
One problem being Genesis 8 flat textures for eyelashes that simply dont make the cut.
Anime eyelashes are best realized in 3d when done as blocks of morphing geometry.
The "eye cave" and flat piece of geometry suspended in air did solved the eye issue but the eyelashes are a still a problem.
Trying to since their morphs with Genesis 8 eye closing morph would take more effort than its worth it so from here on in I might as well rip MMD eyes out... god that sounds so wrong xD
January 2020 - Daz 3D New User Challenge - Composition, Instancing, & DuplicationLooks like Traditional Outfit on the master and Showdown Outfit in the student, both dForce items.
Very good knowledge of your suits, that is exactly what they are.
@alex86fire can you link to the product you used for the pants? Its easier to find for those who have it to help.
it looks like a d-force clothing item to me, so for a good fit you would put the character in the pose and then simulate the d-force process
I have run quite a few simulation with dForce on them both to get to the current state.
My biggest problem is that they intersect with each other at different points, no idea why, as it seems very weird to me.
See attached images. (I thought a fast morph to just fix that would be better than to run another few simlations to fix that while other parts of the outfit already look good to me.
Genesis 9 delayed until at least 2020. Will you be buying it?I am not interested in the next generation (G9), as someone pointed out already if it is mostly just poly increase to make the figures more realistic I will pass.
More poly for morph/poses/details that means I would need a better computer, I am good with Gen8 thanks.
P.S: The only thing that would interest me for Gen9 would be if it has some sort of killer app like Headshot.
Well G9 probably should increase the poly count so that products like Face Gen Artist Pro don't have to delete details, games are getting higher & higher poly counts anyway so that's not the issue it was in the past, but outside of that I'm interested to see what improvements the DAZ can make to G9.
You do realise that Genesis 3 had less polys than Genesis 2, and Genesis 8 had less polys than Genesis 3, so at least in the last 2 generations the poly count has been going down with each generation not up, so I am not sure why people are assuming that Genesis 9, if and when it appears, will be higher poly than what we have now.
face transfer failed to load a Genesis 8I don't know when you installed them, but Face transfer requires the latest update to Genesis 8 Starter Essentials, so it might be worth the try to reinstall them.
XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)Hello,
I purchased the product XTransfer and wanted to transfer Titus (G3 character) to G8M. XTransfer product loaded fine. Then, during the transfer process, DAZ Studio crashed. Now I can't open DAZ Studio without a crash. I'm curious if anyone else had this issue or if I need to go to DAZ Support for assistance.
Can you post what the log file says when Daz crashes ?
January 2020 - Daz 3D New User Challenge - Composition, Instancing, & DuplicationOk, I fiddled with the simulation and kind of got around fixing the pants for now, altought I would prefer to know how I can also do the morph as the clothes don't look great from all angles.
This is how the scene looks right now: I would appreciate some comments/suggestions/critiques.
face transfer failed to load a Genesis 8Hi,
I have Daz Studio 4.12.0.86 Pro Edition
I have genesis 8 male & female starter essentials installed
But, in Face Transfer, when i click to generate it say :
"face transfer failed to load a genesis 8 figure. Could not locate the genesis male 8 file : data/Daz3D/Genesis 8 male starter essentials/Utilities/Genesis Male whith basic wear.duf"
do i have to remove and reinstall genesis 8 ?
or do i have to manually create folder and file ?
Reinstalled Items No Longer "New"I think if you want to have sort by isntall date work in DS you need to install via Connect - so I was told, anyway, but that was when it was a new feature.
That makes and doesn't at the same time. I will need to try it and see. I know it sorts by Install Date to the original Install Date. But that could just be an accident and not actually the DIM install date.
In any case, for my work flow, Connect won't work. I can't handle G8F taking over a minute to pop into a scene just because it has five million morph dials installed that I have no interest in using.
Connect lets you install what you want just as DIM does (as long as you aren't using Victoria/Michael/Kids 4, or one or two other legacy figures).
I know. But I would be endlessly downloading and redownloading. Right now I have everything downloaded and updated in DIM. So it's easy and quick to uninstall and install.
There are the Offline Installers, which could be kept backed up and copied to the install folder as needed, but that is gettng fiddly.
[daz studio 4.12] universal tool doesn't workThanks felix_nukem.
And you are right!
Following your procedure,
as the results,
my problem is resolved.
Now, universal tool, rotation tool and transfer tool
goes to work good.
I am very thankful.
Can I unfreeze a morph without killing it?When starting out, I looked into building my own compound morphs that set various other properties all at once. That led me to "ERC Freeze," and served my purpose perfectly. Now that I'm trying to animate some of those morphs in non-linear ways on the timeline, however, I'm quickly realizing that having them all tied together is only convenient for outlining. I don't always want the components merged into a single morph throughout my entire animation.
What I want to do is bake those morphs into their individual components for the current frame, and zero out the value of the compound morph to compensate, but keep the morph available for later convenience. I've seen two commands that looked hopeful, but ultimately neither one seems to help:
- "ERC Bake (Delta Add, Add, Subtract)" does exactly what I want: It replaces the compound morph with its components. Unfortunately it also destroys the compound morph altogether so I can never use it again without manually re-freezing every property it contained.
- "ERC Bake to Play Range (Keyed)" pops up a warning message that makes it sound like it will do exactly what I want (except on the entire play range instead of one frame), but it actually doesn't do anything at all.
So, other than manually going through every component and setting it to the same value as the compound morph contains, is there any way to "bake" a morph without destroying it?
What about copying the morph into a new one and using ERC Bake on that new one?
In theory it should destroy the copy but keep the original.
January 2020 - Daz 3D New User Challenge - Composition, Instancing, & DuplicationI am having trouble doing a simple morph for the pants, to make them drape a little nicer.
I hid everything in Daz except the pants as can be shown in the first screenshot.
When I import into Blender however, some extra stuff appears, as can be see in the second screenshot.
I am at a loss at to what to do to get only the pants so I can do my simple morph and make them look nice.
[Released] Camera View Optimizer [Commercial]
At this point I can't be of much help I'm afraid. I can't even advise you to open a ticket with Daz because they will tell you not to use the Beta version if a newer version is out.
It looks like the beta version is choking on decrypting the script file because a parse error would have resulted in a log entry.
One thing i note however is that you said you used DIM to install, yet I can see a Daz Connect folder structure. Could that be the issue or maybe just a red herring ?
You will see a Connect folder structure because I uninstalled the DIM version and tried reinstalling using Daz Connect. Neither worked in the BETA, though both work in the release (4.12.0.86). It looks as though I'll have to spend a few hours trying to recreate my Beta workspace in the release version if I want to use your script (shortcuts, bookmarks, toolbars, etc.)
There are scripts to automate the workspace transfer between DS builds:
