I couldn't find a thread for your "Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female" so I'll just ask here, and if there is a thread, then I'll delete and post it there....

just picked this one up tonight and have only had a very very quick play with it but I have two questions:

1. Is the "convert scene character" used for when you don't have a full character preset, and the character is a "apply Jane's body morph.duf" and "apply Jane's head morph.duf" deal, whereas the main converter is when you have the full character preset? 

2. Will this do any expressions? (for instance, an expression pack such as "Victoria 7 Attitude Expressions") If so, is that "convert scene character"? 

1. Yes, "Convert Scene Character" is for when you have created a character in the scene and applied all the morphs (weight, fitness, etc) to it

2. If the expressions are morph and they have been applied to the character, I *think* it will do it.  I haven't tried it.

edit: oooh thought of a third question:

3. With the "hide eyes" option - which is mentioned in the manual as giving better results - does that mean the eyes of the G3F character do not transfer over at all? So eyes that are a different shape - not extreme, but say, eyes like Mei Lin 7 - won't transfer at all?

The video looked OK. Adjust rigging to shape on the actual morphs (so if this is a mix of sculpting and Daz morphs you want to do it on the sculpted morph, not the controler that sets that and the Daz morphs), then ERC Freeze to link the chnages. Don't do the adjusting for controller morphs, just ERC Freeze to link them to the actual morphs they are driving.

It's not the Victoria 7 Pro Bundle you need for the morph, it's https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-7-female-body-morphs

sorry to bother anyone but i purchased the victoria 7 pro bundle but can't find the pregnant morph ? 

 

If you install DAZ content with DAZ Connect, it's important you click on the "Connect" "Connect Path" button on the transfer tab and set it to your DAZ Connect Library which allows GenX2 to scan your DAZ Connect library for additional usable files.

On a sidenote, I just transferred my new character creation's Head and Body morphs to G8F using RiverSoft's morph converter successfully. I made the main controller to slide both head and body to 100% successfully and saw that it worked. I saved the character preset again and tried loading the new G8F to the scene and the same behavior repeated itself, the G8F vanilla charcter was loaded on to the screen and I had to slide the head and body to 100% to dial her in. Interestingly, the main controller i made to affect both head and body did not get saved with the character preset....

FaceGen Artist Pro is not a plugin but a stand alone program. It can create morphs for Genesis, G2F, G2M, G3F, G3M, G8F, and G8M. It is preconfigured to output your morphs in the standard DAZ Content location after you name the morph and choose which generation of Genesis the morph will be for.

It produces the most accurate geometries for it's morphs but can still be badly wrong. I've tried all 3 you list. All of them are highly dependent on having a picture that they can extract accurate geometric data from and that doesn't mean pictures that we prefer or seem to be the highest in photographic qualities. You want to avoid applying any sort of color, contrast, brightness or other filters on photos you will be using as it usually reduces the accuracy. Of course, if the photos are celebrity photos found via image searches you have no control over that.  

Oh so you're just trying to avoid general "clipping".... it happens. You can use the hands pose preset dials to get somewhere close then tighten it up with the general bones dial of the fingers. If you have a prop or case where you are going to reuse the same pose (ie holding a certain bottle or uniquely shaped item) save it as a pose preset for the hands in that prop's folder for 1 click reuse later. There some hand pose packages in the store that you may or may not find helpful. Just curious, we talking single image render or animation? 

You may also want to look into "assigning collisions". It may be possible to assign collision between your fingers and your prop (say if your prop is a clear glass where a little clipping isn't an option, and you dont want to morph model compression). Sorry Im not able to provide more advice on collision detection as I need to research it more myself.

Thanks, and yeah I'm finding that some older G3 textures really had some nice details that I need to try on G8 figures.I kinda brushed off my G3 content when I moved up to G8, but going through these textures has made me want to experiment with them more.

Speaking of which, I kinda ran into a weird problem...right after I made those Rune 7 renders, I accidentally saved the scene over the default Rune 7 preset. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Rune to put the original back in, but the preset now loads a default G3F and the Rune morphs (head, body, and full) do nothing. I then reinstalled the Genesis 3 Female essentials, and that didn't fix the problem either. Rune's morphs are the only ones not working, so I assume something to do with the actual morph controllers or how Genesis 3 is reading them has been damaged. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to try and fix this now?

We seem to be getting quite a collection of face plugins available, i.e. Face Transfer, HeadShops, FaceGens, etc.

Question is theoretical because no I don't own them all yet, but am wondering, are they all compatible if one did? Or is one or another going to hog the resources or whatever, disabling others? [there are some DVD/CD burning softwares that do things like that]

Eh, I've still got a ways to go on improving my Rune 7 settings, if they can really be improved much anyway. Left pic is the default Genesis 3 Rune 7 pre-load, no adjustments. Right pic is Rune 7's textures on Genesis 8, no face morph, some SSS adjustments, V8 lashes. Also no idea how mine got so glossy, I made a point to turn the roughness up. Will have to double check that.

Are the nostril shadows actually on the tip of the nose? Never noticed that before, but the UV settings are correct (they're not even changed on the default one).

1 More period hair and makeup. For future reference when I say period or retro, I'm thinking 1700's-1960's...

2 Futuristic/sci-fi hair styles

3 Period and futuristic lingerie. For period: like what would Marie Antoinette or a Southern Belle wear under their clothes? Also clothes from those eras, upscale, beautiful, extravagant like in old paintings with hair and makeup to match as mentioned above

4 Futuristic clean upscale living like realistic AND toon updated Jetsons

5 More toon stuff, props, places, animals, cute creatures, non-realistic, like childrens' book stuff

6 Non-grungy nice retro/period homes, inside and out that look like they did at their prime, especially upscale homes

7 Cute or beautiful imaginary/fantasy creatures, instead of ugly monsters

8 A morphable "any creature" similar to Genesis 1 in that you can morph it into anything but non-human and non-horror (although that could be part of the morphs and textures)

9 An updated cat with tons of breeds and kittens

10 More dog breeds including poodles, and all cute little fluffy breeds and puppies!

11 More interesting styles of lingerie and corsets with sexy new styles of shoes and boots included but Playboy-ish, not hard core

12 And basically more everything from the past and future that is not grungy and worn. Less current stuff, we already have so much of that! 

 

Use the morph, but a regular Dog 8 skin?  Or create a geoshell with a regular skin and just make transparency holes in it for the Zombie to show through in places?

I am trying to transfer Giselle 6 to G3F with GenX2 and now I keep getting this error ( see attached )  Any idea where I would find this clone morph to delete and reinstall?  I am not sure if it refers to G2F or G3F

Zev0, not sure how true this might be but I think I had issues when I was trying to use the X-Transfer on figures that were not compatible (those figures that do not have properties either in the hidden or visible section in your software.) I had not installed those figures after you provided the patch and I haven't had any issues so far.

...ugh after such a wonderful day yesterday Google and Chrome are being total PITAs this morning.

Multiple error messages that it cannot load a page or site, a "loading" message when trying to open an email that takes its own sweet time to open, perpetual swirlies on the tabs again (even though in some cases the page has completely loaded) and that excruciatingly slow "line by line" loading of graphics and images again making getting through the morning emails like pulling teeth from a Hippo with a pair of kitchen tongs.  Did all the usual things to speed fix the issues like checking my connection and transfer rate, clearing cache, cookies, & such.  Still makes me wonder if whd this rubbish happens that Google isn't' doing some automatic maintenance/updating.  At least with Firefox I could turn that off. 

Not in a very good mood already, as I seem to have contracted something that has caused a very annoying cough which kept waking me up in the middle of the night.  Definitely don't need to deal with this rubbish as well.

Due to the ExP morph system the generation 4 figures used they and all their morphs need to be installed to the same content library.
