    Im confused about somethin.

Is there a way to maintain topology after changing particle distance.  Use case:

    1. Have a garment at 5 particle distance
    2. Bring that to Daz as obj
    3. In MD, change to 20 particle distance and resimulate (initial low quality sim). Then change to 5 particle distance and resimulate (high quality sim)
    4. Bring that to Daz via morph loader pro as a morph of original obj.

Obviously for morph loader we need same topology/geometry, so is there any problems with this workflow?

Changing the particle distance from 5 to 20 to 5 isnt going to change topology right?

  • Using GenX2 to transfer V4 Poses?

Lindsey..so it's just for facial expressions...thanx for clearing that up.

Not just expressions, it is for shaping of any kind. Anything that uses a morph, in contrast to a positioning pose, which rotates the joints. Yes, they're all called "Poses", but they're different.

  • eyes issues

I've been running into this when using a height morph or any morph that translates the eyes to a different part of the head or a morph that resizes the eye parts that doesn't get the eyeball changed along with it. I used 'pupil correction' morph to adjust the size of the pupil and removes the black bands which are actual spaces that you can see between the incorrectly sized eyeball fitting in a sclera area that has changed size. I just struggled with this while making a new character and the eye bands were showing up because the height morph moves the eyes out of position.

I also had to fix this with 'adjusting rigging to shape'  so the eyes pop back into place...

  • Head + Body Slider Control Wonky.

Thanks RH, I got a figure on G3F that is working. The video even leaves out the step of adjusting the main controller morph so I followed that instruction previously. I think the troubles arose when I was looking through the video  to where i left off in the tutorial and must have gone ahead and saved the character preset before I even saved the morph assets doing things out of order.

Do you have any idea why cards do not stay on the morph? I keep browsing and adding them to the morphs in the parameter tab in edit mode and save the character preset. the cards stay there until i load the character over as if the changes were never made. That's the next problem i'm trying to knock out

  • Ow, I have an eyelash stuck in my eye! (Solved)

I have to admit, I'm surprised. I've created some custom head morphs for G8F (mostly transferring some old characters of mine from stand-alone meshes onto G8F) , and the eyelashes have followed the morphs just fine, so I can't see why these morphs wouldn't work.

Testing one last thing, the headshop morph doesn't have auto-follow turned off for any reason does it?

  • Converting Aiko/Genesis Figures to Gen 8

Here's an example conversion. The figure on the left is using the V3 Sanura texture converted to V4 with TC2 and applied to G2F using the V4 UVs. The figure on the right is a custom L3 character with the original V3 texture, both converted to Iray.

    https://www.deviantart.com/slimerjspud/art/Blame-it-on-Rio-Again-796553901

I should add that the morph itself was not transferred. I just spun up some dials on the new base.

  • Ow, I have an eyelash stuck in my eye! (Solved)

Have you tried using the Transfer Utility to copy the morph to the eyelashes? (I believe you will need to unfit the eyelashes first in order for Transfer Utility to make the morph properly, but as long as the transfer is set to use the default shape of each, it won't matter if you've still got morphs dialled in on G8F).

Tried that, no joy. IMO, DAZ QA should have caught this. I have plenty of custom head morphs from DAZ PAs that work perfectly with the G8 eyelashes. This tool is creating a custom head morph as an OBJ file that gets automatically imported to the figure. You can also import a saved OBJ file with the same result. This product does not directly support the G8 eyelashes, and it looks like there isn't a way to import that morph to the separate G8 eyelashes.

  • Looking for a foot morph and others

As many here know, I'm still a V4/M4 user. And sometimes, I'd like a foot or hand morph that 'squishes'. If my character is bare-foot, I'd like to see the pressure of foot to floor. Is there a morph product or freebie anyone knows of?

Also would like more realistic morphs showing but/hip an thigh 'squishing' when sitting or leaning on something.

  • Beds - which product handles a person's body impression on the mattress?

You can try adding a smoothing modifier, and use the figure or a geoshell of the figure as a colision object to get that effect. Deformer also. Or bring it into blender and create a morph. Many ways to do it.

    This works great

  • Ow, I have an eyelash stuck in my eye! (Solved)

That's the problem. HS does not apply any morphs to the eyelashes. Under the main figure, there is a Genesis 8 Female/Morphs/HeadShop with a dial for the morph I created from the photo, but nothing gets applied to the eyelashes. No such morph on the eyelashes, nothing for it under Hidden.

  • Ow, I have an eyelash stuck in my eye! (Solved)

When using the HeadShop OneClick 2 plugin for Daz Studio, it seems impossible to get the eyelashes to come out right on the G8 models. After running the program, the head changes OK, but the eyelashes are made invisible. When visibility is restored, the eyelashes are in the wrong place. For the G8 models, the eyelashes are a separate mesh. You can't just move them because they have to be Fit To the base model in order to work like eyelashes. Also, Morph Loader Pro was unable to load the OBJ created by HSOC onto the eyelashes. The error I get is, "Geometry did not match, failed to create morph." If there's a manual tweak that can be easily made to an OBJ file to get it to load on the eyelashes, I'd try that.

I did open a ticket for this, but it's been a busy time in Customer Support. I thought I'd post here to see if anybody has any solution for this. I tried a lot of tricks, but nothing worked. Selecting the eyelashes and unfitting them, then refitting them to the G8 figure put them right back where they were. I also emailed the script author, but he has no workable suggestions.

  • Converting Aiko/Genesis Figures to Gen 8

To convert character morphs from V4, A3 or G1 to genesis figures up to G3 you would need GenX2 and its various add-ons:

    • Base program: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
    • Aiko 3 add-on (required to convert A3 morphs): https://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-a3-and-h3 or it's part of https://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-bundle
    • Genesis 2 and 3 add-ons (you need both to convert to G3): https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2 and https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3

    or Aiko 3 for Genesis

Aiko 3 for Genesis gives you the base A3 shape for Genesis and an autofit clone to fit A3 clothes to G1.

If all you want is to have the base A3 shape for G8, then yes, you can purchase A3 for Genesis and then transfer that shape to G8 like any other G1 shape without the GenX2 A3 add-on.
But if you want to transfer morphs made for A3, you need the GenX2 A3 add-on.

  • V8 (and others) texture improvement discussion
Yes, very interesting! I bought Rune myself during the 2.99 sale for G3 characters but initially only to use her morph to be converted to G8 because I really like her body morph. Never thought about tweaking her texture for use with G8. But I really like the results posted here. I will try Outrider's tip with Sina settings from bluejaunte.

  • [Released] Props & Poses Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female [Commercial]

    Ahhhhh! Got it!

I forgot to look at the date LOL! blush

Thank you! This is an awesome script!!!!

Is it possible to do it for earlier versions? I don't mean will you do one, but whether it's possible to do it or if it really only works well for G3 -> G8.

    Great, thank you!

Does the saved file have a particular name? or is the same as the original character?

well, no, that won't work, it would overwrite the original, yeah? I've got three files in that folder for this particular character, but not sure which ones I created.

Gosh, you were quick! LOL Thank you!

I edited it to add a third question:

     3. With the "hide eyes" option - which is mentioned in the manual as giving better results - does that mean the eyes of the G3F character do not transfer over at all? So eyes that are a different shape - not extreme, but say, eyes like Mei Lin 7 - won't transfer at all?

I couldn't find a thread for your "Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female" so I'll just ask here, and if there is a thread, then I'll delete and post it there....

just picked this one up tonight and have only had a very very quick play with it but I have two questions:

    1. Is the "convert scene character" used for when you don't have a full character preset, and the character is a "apply Jane's body morph.duf" and "apply Jane's head morph.duf" deal, whereas the main converter is when you have the full character preset?

    2. Will this do any expressions? (for instance, an expression pack such as "Victoria 7 Attitude Expressions") If so, is that "convert scene character"?

    1. Yes, "Convert Scene Character" is for when you have created a character in the scene and applied all the morphs (weight, fitness, etc) to it

    2. If the expressions are morph and they have been applied to the character, I *think* it will do it.  I haven't tried it.

    3.  No, this refers to an option in the conversion process that Sickleyield had defined. The 2 processes the script uses are similar but can give different results, especially around the eyes.

Bonus answer: Yes, it is in data/Daz 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs/VENDOR/PRODUCT where the root directory is defined as the first directory under Daz formats in the Content manager.

You created all of them with the script (check the creation dates).  The original morphs live in My Daz 3D Library.
