Expect to see a lot of product metadata updates in Daz Connect.
What about DAZ Install Manager and DAZ Central?
It better not. They were not affected, and there is no real "update" to the metadata, just to what Connect was using.
I almost exclusively install content using DIM except when I manually install content (such as freebies from Renderosity) or when DAZ Studio doesn't recognize content as being installed unless installed via Connect. I don't use Connect because I don't have the flexibility (as far as I know) of choosing where content is installed when using Connect and the rather bizarre folder and naming protocols used by Connect. I still have many missing thumbnails though.
Did DS go online? It was that that allowed the thumbnails to be lost, not instalaltion.

Hello!
When I render Victoria 8.1 out of the box she's colourless. Regardless of light.
Only way to get rid of this is to reset the texture and start over with basic Iray or select another set of textures.
What is wrong? What must I do?
I use DAZ 4.14Victoria 8.1 uses the new PBR shader, which requires DS4.15.xSo where does one find 4.15? The download studio link is broken these days and so are my automatic updates...
Download a fresh copy through DIM/Daz Central and install it, with DS closed. You can also use the Public Build (beta) which will leave the geenral release alone - that has to be installed through DIM.

DAZ to Blender - Python errorHi Padone, thanks for getting back to me. I'm using the "DAZ to Blender" script (the top one) inside DAZ Studio and then select "Subdivision Level 0" and "Include animation data", plus "Include minimal morphs". Everything seems to export normally. I then just click the import button inside Blender, before the errors pop up.
I have installed everything on my notebook as well by the way and the entire process runs without any problems. But that doesn't help me on my main machine :-D I've uninstalled and re-installed both Blender and DAZ a bunch of times today, now even using the DAZ Installation Manager instead of DAZ Central, but the results are still the same. I'm really stumped as to what the problem is here.

Genres You'd Like to See in the Store? While I have used 'Vendor' sort option at the top of the store frequently, I don't remember using the other choices offered before. I just tried out 'Places and Things' and 'Resources and Add-ons' and noticed that they could be then filtered by program and then below further filtered by the categories we are being asked to offer suggestions for. I even found a set of Asian vases I had missed and have wishlisted them. This sort option should be more prominently displayed.
Two weeks ago, I went on a search for things Medieval/Dark Ages/Viking/Weapons/Clothing/Hairs that I might need to add to fill in gaps for a series of renders I was going to work on. It was frustrating to a degree and took a couple days and my wishlist grew. And then, Daz put most of those items into the $3.99 March Madness sale. So it was worth the time for me. But, it would have helped to have an easier search. Also, I was searching on my iMac, using Google Chrome and I was not seeing Required Items. I had to search for that and check to see if I had it or not. And I have Ati's add-on as well.
But I also in my own files recognize that the Greco-Roman architecture spread across Northern Africa, the Middle East, and up into Europe and England, just as Arabic architecture influenced Spanish, Italian, and later the Southwest United States, Central and South American architechture. Or the Japanese esthetic has influenced the Pacific NorthWest. And Africa is more than mud huts and colonies that went away when I was still in school in the 1960s. There is some vibrant growth there that puts America to shame.
And when I saw the word 'Indian' I wasn't sure if you meant South Asian or First Nation Peoples.
Daz Central Content Installation TangleIf you install Daz Central after DIM it should preserve DIM's settings - installing it on a clean machine, however, will have it use its default behaviour of just selecting a base location with everything else going in a sub-folder.
Ah! Thanks, that helps.

Okay, thanks Richard. I used to use DIM but when Daz Central was released I thought it was replacing DIM so I switched. I used Daz Central before my Windows re-install too, and somehow got it to install to the correct location. I guess I'm not clear on why there are multiple software tools for this.

Daz Central Content Installation TangleI had to do a clean Windows re-install a week or so ago, which also necessitated re-installing all programs and applications. Since then, Daz Central insisted on creating a new folder path for Daz content, and I need to:
1) Merge the new content installed into my original content file path
2) Get Daz Central to install new content to my original content file path
My content (and most data) is and has always been stored on a separate data drive (D:), so was not changed or deleted during my Windows re-install. I've attached a screen shot of my settings in Daz Central. Thanks for any help!
Correct content file path: D:\My DAZ 3D Library
New content file path created by Daz Central: D:\My DAZ 3D Library\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library
DAZ CENTRAL gets stuck installing DAZ StudioCentral is a simplified version of DIM and uses the same zip files from the same servers as DIM so I don't see how it can be faster.
Missing Thumbnails in Smart ContentOkay, I know this issue has been raised many times before and I have combed through as many of those threads as I could find. I have tried every solution that I have found in those threads. I have reimported meta-data several times, I have looked in the folders to make sure that the thumbnail images are actually there and they are I have uninstalled and reinstalled Daz Studio the PostGRE database, reset the database, tried importing any qued meta-data that might have been there and everything else that has worked in the past that I can think of but this time around I have had no results with any of it. I even tried uninstalling Daz Studio, going through the hidden locations, and getting rid of any trace of it that I could find, uninstalling the database and then reinstalling, reimporting meta-data, and all of the usual fixes but nothing seems to work this time around. I am on Daz Studio 4.15.0.2 the latest release version, so what gives anyone have any solutions out there that could work? Oh, and when I mean missing thumbnails I don't mean just one or two or even 15-20 or 40-50 I mean practically all of the thumbnails of several years worth of collected content gone with only a few showing up, of products that I have bought in recent weeks. I have never seen Daz Studio produce this many missing thumbnails. Oh, and I have tried downloading through DIM, Daz Central, and Daz Connect with the same results. Thanks in advance folks.

Use DIM instead.
Does that mean the Daz Connect doesn't work? Or is DIM a better tool for installing Daz Studio and your content?
For the record, Daz Central and Daz Connect are not the same thing. Connect is install directly from DS.
Daz Central is intended for people who have a simple setup. If you have a complex setup with multiple content directories then using DIM will fit your needs better.
DAZ CENTRAL gets stuck installing DAZ StudioHello.
I have an issue with DAZ CENTRAL and the installation of DAZ Studio, which seems completely stuck. The installation progress bar is stuck at something like 60-70% {even if no percentage is shown, which is quite bad, I can tell, in terms of UI/GUI Design!}.
I keep on checking the size of my drives to check if there is any variation in free space and in over half a hour there is no variation. I checked the installation path and nothing new is there, no files, no folders, nothing. I checked the TEMP folders, any possible folder to find any presence of new downloaded content, any data file, any zipped file. Zero!
What is going on!? I can't believe this is normal. Wasn't DAZ CENTRAL supposed to be faster than the previous Installation Manager!? It cannot be an in download connection issue because my fiber is running between 60mbps up to over 74mbps.
This is really insane. I'm tempted to quit the popup because I'm afraif I might waste the installation progress if that's someway still effectively running. I'm desperate. i hope somebody reads this soon because I really dunno what to do!
Trouble installing Fluidos IIHi!
You can install them with DIM or Daz Central. But if you prefer to do it manually:
Inside the IM00064599-01_FLUIDOSIIforDazStudioStudioContent.zip and IM00064599-03_FLUIDOSIIforDazStudioTutorials.zip you will see a "content" folder. Uncompress the zips and copy the content of "content" folder to your Daz library (merge the folders).
Inside the IM00064599-02_FLUIDOSIIforDAZStudioWin64bit.zip file you'll see three folders: DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build_(64-Bit), DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build and Temp_(64-Bit).
If you have the last version of Daz Studio 4.14 or later, ignore the content of Temp_(64-Bit) . If not, decompress and run the .bat file.
Localize the "DazStudio4" subfolder of Daz Studio installation. Normally, it's inside of "C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/" (C: or the disk where you installed it). Copy the content of the folders DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build_(64-Bit), DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build to the "DazStudio4" subfolder (merge the folders).
Finally, register the plugin using your serial number (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/3916516/#Comment_3916516)
Daz Central and installing Content to D DriveHi I am a longtime Poser user and have decided to try to make the switch to Daz Studio. I will be installing everything using Daz Central and need to know how I can instruct the install manager and Daz Studio to look at the file on my D Drive. This is critical as I have years of content that I will want to be able to use in Daz Studio (since 2002). I know my D drive will not handle it so what is the best way for me to start this off correctly.
I look forward to hearing from you
thanks
Carmen
