Products Showing They Need Installation

That circle with down arrow does NOT mean they need to be installed. It means they are AVAILABLE for installation with Daz Connect. If you have already installed the products with DIM, Daz Central, or manually, DO NOT install them again from inside Daz Studio. If you do, you will have them installed twice, in two separate locations on your hard drive. The version installed from inside Daz Studio will be used. The other installed files and any future updates you do from DIM will be ignored. Some products don't work correctly when installed from inside Daz Studio, and some product don't work with content that is installed from inside Daz Studio.
If you install with DIM, don't even let Daz Studio login to your account. Go to Edit/Preferences and turn off the option to let it automatically log you in.
If you have already made the mistake of double installation, uninstall the products from inside Daz Studio and (if necessary) reinstall them with DIM. Instructions
Let me ask this...
If I "double install" them, will one be available for off-line, while the others is available on-line?
Here's my new purchase work flow..
1) Purchase an asset from DAZ
2) Run CIM and install available packages
3) Run DAZ Studio, click on the (v) symbol and install the new package.
Are you telling me that last step is complelely unnecessary?
Brent
As far as offline availability goes, it doesn't matter which way you install. All content is available offline, whether you install with DIM, Daz Central, manually, or from inside Daz Studio (aka Daz Connect).
Yes, I am telling you the last step (3) is completely unnecessary. It is worse than unnecessary. It doubles the disk usage in your computer, it installs products that sometimes don't work with that installation method, it sometimes completely corrupts a product so that the files don't work, and lately, just letting Daz Studio log in causes product thumbnails to disappear (a Daz bug they are trying to fix).

Yes, just use one installation method.

After installing Mabel 8, loading every other character, is loaded Mabel 8 too. SOLVED !Please put the Viewport into Smooth Shaded mode if you need to show a nude figure.
Make sure you are using the latest version of Mabel, downloaded from your account/via DIM or Daz Central/installed through Daz Studio itself. I don't recall this ever having been an issue, but it's possible I've forgotten and you are using an old installer. However, I suspect it's more likely a different character that is calling up Mabel (and probably some other morphs) and it's only now that mabel is installed that the issue is obvious. Are theer any other character shapes with non-zero values if you load the Genesis 8 Female base?

To me it feels like a scam; I'm not saying it is, or that Daz is trying to scam us, merely my opinion of what it feels like.
It leaves the same bad taste that "Encrypted Daz Connect" did a while back.
Their introduction of Daz Central altered my buying habits in protest; I'm just dipping my toe in the water again, and this comes along.
... So: No more.
There are real opportunities offered over at the auction site, you can even buy 100 Million Acres of land on Mars for just $653.60USD. That is for sure going up in value.
The land-grab looks to be a better option, less risky and less energy cost.

I would consider the land-grab a much less risky venture.

And the seller can produce a legally binding title to that Martian land and a chain of custody for all that legal paperwork that proves it?
All I've got to see is being in tech doesn't elimate that the products are bad products or scam products or even worth investigating, except maybe police investigations.
Yes, it says in the "About" box that the the seller has been granted exclusive authority under the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, to distribute land on Mars.
Not The United Federation of Planets? Damn. So disappointing ;)

Selling acres on Mars. If you fall for that one, there's this bridge... And I know this great piece of swamp in NJ... I'll throw in some heavily forested acres in WNY... On second thought...PerttiA said:nicstt said:

Unreal Bridge selected wrong folderHello,
I made a mistake and selected the wrong folder (I am guilty of not watching the tutorial) instead of my Unreal Engine Editor folder I selected my Unreal Engine Project folder. I tried uninstall the bridge and reinstall hoping the prompt would open again. I even deleted the installation files in the install manager but no new prompt, how to fix this issue?
Thank you very much!
PS.: I finally found it out in case someone else did the same mistake in DAZ Central click on the top right cog wheel, then when you scroll down you can select the correct path again.
How to get Genesis 8 expressions working on Genesis 8.1Masterstroke said:

Hm. This worked for me, and then suddenly stopped working again. Yet I can't find any trace of the "Base Pose Head" or "Expressions" folder under My Library/data/Daz 3D/Genesis 8/Female 8_1/Morphs/Daz 3D.
Anyone else?

didn't work for me either.
Self made expression sets still look wrong.Where are your morphs installed (the whole path including the drive letter) and how have you installed your content (DIM/Daz Central/Daz Connect/Manually)?

Collective3d Portrait Vignettes Contemporary 2 - doesn't seem to be installing correctly.Ah ok. Yeah I hope I hadn't tried to install very much through Central. If I remember right Central kept losing my internet connection while trying to download and install content. I installed studio but after that it just kept breaking.

Expect to see a lot of product metadata updates in Daz Connect.
What about DAZ Install Manager and DAZ Central?
It better not. They were not affected, and there is no real "update" to the metadata, just to what Connect was using.
I almost exclusively install content using DIM except when I manually install content (such as freebies from Renderosity) or when DAZ Studio doesn't recognize content as being installed unless installed via Connect. I don't use Connect because I don't have the flexibility (as far as I know) of choosing where content is installed when using Connect and the rather bizarre folder and naming protocols used by Connect. I still have many missing thumbnails though.
Did DS go online? It was that that allowed the thumbnails to be lost, not instalaltion.
I also have sometimes missing thumbnails when installing products via DIM. I had filed tickest, the only feedback I got, unfortunately, was that the metadata has been fixed and I should set Studio online....
Latest examples:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-kristin-dress-for-genesis-8-females
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-seasons-magus-for-genesis-8-male
https://www.daz3d.com/social-distance-restaurant
Seasons Magus currently doesn't have a thumbnail pic in the zip file, unless it has been updated very recently. Social Distance Restaurant has a full-blown promo pic at 1000 x 1300 px as the installed thumbnail. If I remember correctly, the DIM thumbnail was missing, the one you get in the tooltip when you hover over it. Don't know about Kristin Dress.
