I forgot to mention some particulars of the scene...
This is Michael 4 with a Morphus face (by Capsces). The texture is Yannis. Used one Ambient light by AoA.

I am new to the 3d scene, and recently started using Daz3d Studio 4.5. When I load Victoria 4.2 or Michael 4 into a scene, the default image shows them in basic underwear. How do I make them nude, so that I can use different underwear, or none at all. I am still learning and can't find a tutorial that covers this... Thank you.

Well, the different types of content (figures and poses here, but also props and lights and cameras etc.) all go in different libraries in Poser - and Michael 4 is in Poser format. If you are seeing the files in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats>Folder you installed to then that does suggest you installed correctly; if they are showing up under DAZ Studio Formats then not.

michael 4 morphs ++ not working in poser 9,on windows 7.they seem to load but nothing happends,dials appear that I can move

Can someone give a clear explanation of the steps needed to transfer my gen4 and Genesis content to Genesis 2?

I see there are quite some products in the store : GenX2, Michael 4 for Gen2 Male, Victoria 4 for G2F, M4 and V4 skins auto converter,...

I want to convert all my old content to G2 :

- V4 + M4 shapes and skins (once these are converted, can I use materials, like eyes or SSS, designed for G2 figures?)

- Genesis shapes and skins

- V4 + M4 + Genesis clothing

- V4 + M4 + Genesis poses

If you do mean V4 and you are using Poser, you can just download Genesis along with Daz studio and use the exporter. It's free and is compatible with most V4++ content, except for the morphs of course. The poses tend to need a little tweaking but being Genesis has a lot of it's own content and you can find mostly anything you need for free between freebies for the generation 4 figures (Michael 4, Victoria 4, The Kids 4, Aiko 4, Hiro 4 etc) there isn't a much of a limit to what you can find without spending a dime.

Some V4/M4 items are not included. If you see it in the 40+ pages of stuff from the link, it gets discounted. I put 2 items from my wishlist in the cart, one was discounted (Nala and Nia), the other was not (Destiny Curls). You need to have only one "Runtime:Libraries:!DAZ:Michael 4" folder -- if you have it in two different Runtimes you'll run into problems. It doesn't matter which one it is, as long as there's only one.

Good morning, all!

So, I finally got my hot new 27" iMac. *cues a chorus of 'Happy Birthday To Me* :D

I initialized DAZ from scratch on it. Downloaded the latest production app, and then used DIM to download and install all purchased content to default locations.

However, my Poser libraries and all scene files for both DAZ and Poser Pro 2012 (which I apparently won't be installing on this new machine) lived on an external USB drive, which I simply unmounted from my old Mac and mounted on this one. I then set the content manager to recognize that Runtime as a searchable path for Poser-specific assets.

Almost everything is running fine. (And much, much faster. Yay!)

However, I've discovered that when I try to load certain older scene files I get the dreaded window pictured below.

The thing is, of course, that all files are there. And as far as I can decipher DAZ Studio's lookup logic, they haven't changed locations. The paths listed as missing are pointing exactly where they should.

Two changes that I *have* noticed are these: First, the /Runtime/Libraries/!Daz/Michael 4/Deltas/... hierarchy has been duplicated into my /My Daz3d Library/ folder by the fresh install. Second, I of course don't have access to any of the /auto_adapted/ hierarchy on this machine, which was left on the old machine. If I open one of the scene files in a text editor, I do see references to that hierarchy, but my expectation was that DAZ would rebuild that as necessary during the scene load.

I'm not sure what the correct steps are to try to rescue these older scene files, and I'd appreciate any tips. Thanks!

That is Michael 4 with the Morphs++ and i13's Boom Bone Structure for V4 (which works perfectly fine with M4).

I cannot agree with what you wrote. V4 has a big market, sure - she's been around for much longer than the other figures. Fortunately, clothes, hairstyles and poses - heck, even textures! - made for her can be used on Genesis and perhaps with a bit more tweaking Gen2F/Gen2M. However, nobody knows when she will slowly become less supported. I estimate she still has a few years to go: Poser doesn't love DSON, which is needed to use TriAx figures like Genesis and Gen2F/Gen2M, while Poser figures like Anastasia still look much worse for the majority of 3D users.

Starting out with spending $100 is the worst thing one can do in 3D if you're not a real nabob. 3D is expensive and you will have to buy the majority of props, hairstyles, clothes and, of course, morphs. Thus persuading a newbie to buy V4 and all her stuff (let's count most V4 characters need Morphs++, A4, then another lot S4 and Elite Morphs) is suicide. Who knows what appeals to Iceman? He or she didn't say a word about it. What if he/she changes his/her mind and decides to go for adolescent or male renders? Don't tell me V4 has Vittorio morph, because I can count stuff that supports him... her... it... on a single palm of a war veteran :P. I'd be much better to buy Genesis Evolution Morph Bundle that exchanges Morphs++ from Generation 4 and probably Genesis Creature Creator Bundle (both when on Fast Grab, they show up quite frequently there). Still, Iceman, check what you get out of the box.

Another thing is buying poses. I don't intend to say all those vendors who sell them aren't needed. Heck, their work is amazing! But considering a newbie still has a huge bill to invest, posing requires just simple knowledge of human anatomy to understand how the body bends and adding to it the abundance of free poses out there, starting with buying poses doesn't sound good for a newbie. Most-Digital-Creations DOES support parallel downloads. I don't know why you're using the reasoning that it will take ages to get them. I, of course, have no idea about your Internet provider, but for me a typical pack by AdamThwaites downloads in seconds. He's got outstanding packs for free AND they're the perfect choice for female renders, because now they support V4, V5 (a shape for Genesis) and V6 (a shape for Gen2F)! I still second what the others said: first, check what you get for free and then fill the gaps with purchasables.

I think basic maths will show how much it costs... You've got time, I am sure that over a timespan, you will get most of those sets, but getting them all at one time... ouch. To sum it up, a better idea if you really have to get rid of your money as soon as possible, get GenX - preferably the second version. This way you can transfer morphs designed for Generation 3 or 4 to Genesis, with Genesis 2 addon, Gen2F/Gen2M to Genesis. Even the other way around, I think, when it comes to Genesis-Genesis 2.

Don't forget TriAx figures like Genesis and Gen2F/Gen2M bend much better than Generation 4 ones!
