Antiquity

Renaissance
16th and 17th
18th and 19th

21th
Futuristic
While it's nice to see Australia warrants two mentions (presumably one category for Indigenous (various Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures) and one for all the subsequent immigrants), it does leave out the New Zealanders, and the Polynesians.
I think geographical (origin) genres would still need to be quite broad. Oceanean? Pacific?

OK FOLKS!.....Now this is really weird. Last night I decided, for some unknown reason, to uninstall the DAZ CENTRAL that you have to get to get this Daz 4.15 version. I noticed that it is a seperate files location than the actual Daz program, so it uninstalled without taking the Daz 4.15 with it. After I got rid of it (because I would never use it to surf this site) I tried again to do some Iray renders. Low and behold, NOW they are rendering fine without snow (fireflies). Almost completely gone! Now why is that? There must be a connection. I do have a AMD card, not a Nvida. Someone said in here that the Iray renders do not support AMD cards. Well, look at these renders I did right after I uninstalled DAZ CENTRAL. Even my nighttime twister came out with no snow. Not even a speck and it is a dark render! WHY? Anyone?
You did not render those with your integrated graphics card. In order to use your graphics card with iray it must have CUDA cores which an AMD card does not have, so that's literally an impossibility.

Honestly though, those last renders look more like 3dlight and not iray but maybe I'm wrong. Can you try re-rendering the original images you posted in at the top of the thread with the original iray settings?
I'm also taking a guess here as to why your iray renders are so noisy: your CPU is being limited to 2 cores and it doesn't look like it would allow you to increase the core count, so even with a fast CPU it would take ages to clear all that noise with only two cores running. :(
I'm curious about the rest of the specs on your comp. Press your windows key + Pause key, when the "About" dialogue pops up, manually copy or use the "copy" button and paste your specs please. It should look something like this:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9800X CPU @ 3.80GHz 3.79 GHz
Installed RAM 128 GB (128 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processorEdition Windows 10 Pro
Version 20H2
Installed on 8/18/2020
OS build 19042.746
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0What is causing this?I have no idea why removing DAZ Central would get rid of snow in your renders if you're still using Iray. That really is strange. It's nice that it's working better though. Since you have an AMD graphics card, you are not able to use your card's GPU to assist in rendering with Iray. That means you are using your CPU, which can be AMD. If you wanted faster renders, as others have mentioned, then Nvidia GPUs are the only ones that Iray will use.
After installing Mabel 8, loading every other character, is loaded Mabel 8 too. SOLVED !I tried several mode to solve. Disinstalled genesis 8 and reinstall with DIM, but genesis 8.1 disappeared. Then I have uninstalled DAZ studio with DIM and reinstalled with DAZ Central. Genesis 8.1 reappeared, but the basic problem remain. If i load genesi 8 or 8.1 it works, but if i load a character or apply a character to genesis 8, the result is the charactarer I have intention to load and Mabel 8, mixed. At that point i put to 0 mabel parameter manually, so remain the character i loaded, but do it every time is boring. The last characters i have installed are Helena Harper and Phantom for g8. Maybe i did something wrong using them because the problem beginned after the the use of those models. I have read another thread of this forum, "messed something up and now Genesis 8 always loads with preapplied morphs.", but my problem is different and trying to follow those instructions I made a worse disaster.
Now, genesis 8.1 is loaded seemingly without problems, but every character is loaded with Mabel 8 mixed.
What I can do? I have to delete and reinstall everything? How to do? I keep original DAZ and other products in two separate folders, if i have to delete, which parts i have to backup?
HELP!
Thank you
emanuela1
In attachment the results and the mabel product thumbnail in in the products tab of Smart Content and the last 2 logs
What is causing this? You sure that is iray?
And btw, daz central is an alternative to dim. Daz may try to make you install central instead of dim (and give you the impression that you need it), but you can get up to date daz studio with dim just fine.

Notice the non-standard character in the file path shown in the screenshot. Is that another case were D|S on international versions of Windows can't handle particular characters in path names?
Nicely spotted... Yes, that is definitely one possible culprit.
Yes, I reproted this soon after the product was released - it did get an update which slightly improved the situation but it still didn't work through Connect. As noted above, uninstall within DS by right-click on the product thumbnail in Smart Content>Products or the container in Content Library>Products>L and install through Install Manager or Daz Central for now.
I did a manual install when I bought it and I've never had any problems with it. If all else fails and you're feeling brave, try going manual.
Cheers,
Alex.
It seems to be an issue with the non-HTML-safe characters. I don't know if it's an issue with reading them from the hex codes at install time or if they are not being turned into hex code in the right way, but hopefully the reports have made their way to the right people and it is being looked at.

DAZ Studio 4 Installation Guide WindowsIf you want to configure paths and use a separate isntaller then use Install Manager, not Daz Central. https://www.daz3d.com/get_install_manager/
If you moved the Docuemnts folder using the Location tab of its properties dialogue, and did that before isntalling DS, then the My Library folder will already be on that drive. If not, and for other content directories, you can use Edit>Preferences, go to the Content tab, and click Content Directory manager than edit or add/remove paths as desired. Once done, download http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config/start (link above the code), drag it into the DS Viewport, and Install Manager will get those paths added - you can then select the one you want to use in Install Manager from the drop-down list at the bottom (check Show Details) and everything should match up.
Daz Central and installing Content to D DriveUpper right corner of DAZ Central. There's a little icon that allows you to set options. That's where you can specify paths.
I'm never crazy about people that when you ask for something, give you a totally useless answer. It's like saying: "How many fingers am I holding up?" and they respond "Tuesday."

AND why its still have error "Location Unknown directory ?
I wanna know which version of Blender this addon actually tested ? I`m using latest 2.92 and I couldnt make this bridge work at all
We will need more information to go off of to understand why you are getting this error.
It has been tested with 2.83 and 2.92 primarily.
Where are you seeing this error? Daz Studio or Blender?
How did you install this plugin? Daz Central/DIM or Github?
Lastly, if the bridge seems to have installed correctly on your computer check your export folder (See location in the changelog) It will also pop up with the location when you first run the bridge in Daz Studio. If it seems that the export files are going to the right location, check in Blender, if you go to Toggle System Console under windows, you should see your export path there when you first open blender.
If this is an error you still can't seem to solve I highly recommend opening up a ticket as this is not an issue that was being caused by the bridge and sounds more like an issue with installation/permission.Thanks for quick reply ..
Actually I`ve been test both version ( DIM and from Github) and carefully delete/uninstall - reinstall in daz studio script folder and also roaming/blender foundation folder .
And yeah I`ve also checking Blender windows consoles . The Bridge folder indeed already created as mentioned in your guide . ( user>mydocument>DAZStudio>bridges
Previous Beta version 2.3.0.1 and 2.3.0.5 working fine and I never get same error
I doubt its about permission problem because both DAZ and Blender bridge already installed properly
Thanks

(Has been added to DIM/DazCentral)What is causing this?Hi folks. I recently downloaded the new version of Daz that comes with Daz Central. 4.15 I think. I have been using Daz on this computer since I bought it years ago. I have uped the RAM to 8 gigs so it works great. I now have a problem which I cant solve. Maybe one of you can help me. I have done a few renders of scenes, some I created, and some "right out of the box" with their settings. They all have the same problem. Lots of snow! Hundreds of tiny specks all over the render. Some I have let sit for hours and they still have the snow. I have set my render times for long periods so the render is still going after hours. No improvements. I am going to attatch a few of them so you can see the snow. Always look the same. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? I have never had this problem before with versions of Daz. I used 4.12 for a long time with no problem with snow. However, I did get a lot of " Daz has encountered a fatal error and must close" message, then it shits down. So, I doubled my RAM and with the new Daz 4.15, I do not get that message anymore, only LOTS OF SNOW! Please tell me why it is happening. Thanks.

Did you remove the product within "Smart" Connect before trying DIM?
Not only does "Smart" Content use non-standard paths for installation, it also steals priority over any other method of installation -> If there is even a hint of installation via DAZ Central/"Smart" Content, everything installed by other means is ignored.
NFT and the Future of Digital Content
I didn't think these NFT's could get any more ludicrous but I was wrong. Buying land on Mars. Think that falls under the heading of more money than brains. As if some digital bits-and-bobs are going to be considered legal title if we as a species ever make it there.PerttiA said:nonesuch00 said:

To me it feels like a scam; I'm not saying it is, or that Daz is trying to scam us, merely my opinion of what it feels like.
It leaves the same bad taste that "Encrypted Daz Connect" did a while back.
Their introduction of Daz Central altered my buying habits in protest; I'm just dipping my toe in the water again, and this comes along.
... So: No more.
There are real opportunities offered over at the auction site, you can even buy 100 Million Acres of land on Mars for just $653.60USD. That is for sure going up in value.
And the seller can produce a legally binding title to that Martian land and a chain of custody for all that legal paperwork that proves it?
All I've got to see is being in tech doesn't elimate that the products are bad products or scam products or even worth investigating, except maybe police investigations.
Yes, it says in the "About" box that the the seller has been granted exclusive authority under the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, to distribute land on Mars.

As far as offline availability goes, it doesn't matter which way you install. All content is available offline, whether you install with DIM, Daz Central, manually, or from inside Daz Studio (aka Daz Connect).
Yes, I am telling you the last step (3) is completely unnecessary. It is worse than unnecessary. It doubles the disk usage in your computer, it installs products that sometimes don't work with that installation method, it sometimes completely corrupts a product so that the files don't work, and lately, just letting Daz Studio log in causes product thumbnails to disappear (a Daz bug they are trying to fix).
Okay, got it. That's good to know. I will strictly use DIM from now on.
I knew they were "double installed" - one under the data cloud folders with the product # folders and such, and the other where I specified for my manually installed stuff that shows up with the DIM installed products AND stuff I get from Renderosity. I've always thought that was a lot of duplicated files, but I had it in my head that "Smart Content" wouldn't work if you checked Filter By Content unless you did the extra step of installing with the (v).
Let me see if I understand more deeply...
When you install with DIM, you can still access throught Smart Content beccause DIM will place the meta data out there that allows Smart Content to find the files whether on-line or not???
Brent
Yes, when you install with DIM, it installs the metadata. Smart Content is fully functional. There is no need to install from inside Daz Studio to use Smart Content.
Daz sometimes (I'd say frequently) provides inaccurate metadata, no matter how you install, so you should still expect some Smart Content problems.
