TritiumCG Freebie Thread
Just 0.02 from someone who has zero experience in 3D sculpting. The only one I've tried is Kate Mara since I don't know the othe people or game characters. The morph is very good at capturing the outline of her face but it does not say Kate Mara IMHO. I think the reason is that the morph is missing her two most prominent features: the chin dimple and the nose (the tip and philtrum?).
It's still a very pretty and unique face though and thank you for sharing them.
I tried so hard to get Kate's nose right, I really did. I literally spent hours. It's hard to admit defeat but at some point I just had to call it (I want to blame it on a lack of geometry in G8F's face, but that may just be an excuse for my lack of skill). :,( All I can hope is it'll serve as a good base to start from or at least as another pretty face for the genepool.
Here's the latest three, Julia Kyoka came out really nice though I think (she has such a smooth body it was a delight sculpting her features):

Simulate a second time a objectI haven't actually tried it yet, but my understanding is that you can save the draped shape out as a morph for the item, then load it onto the item with morph loader. From there the process should be to start from zero, apply the newly created morph, and then simulate.
Someone who's done it may hopefully chime in and confirm/correct/go into more detail. I'd try it out myself and walk you through it, but I'm not at my home computer.
Use poses for G3 with G8I use this all the time just for that purpose - https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-pose-mixer
It also does so much more, such as the on-the-fly ability to lock joints/joint combinations so you can mix poses to your heart's desire...but what I love is the menu interface so you can convert poses on the fly without having to run a separate script.
Funny - I use this a lot for mixing poses and locking body parts but had completely forgotten that it converts from one generation to another. For that I have batch converted lots of G3 (and G2) poses to G8 using that standalone converter suggested by @Hylas (above). I also have the Agent Unawares converter.
I have numerous converters...one from Zev0 and now RSSY's newest props/pose converter and I do like those because it adds everything to Smart Content (poses are one of the few things I do like using Smart Content for...otherwise I'd never find any). But the Pose Mixer's menu-added one-click is amazingly convenient to just load a pose in and *poof* it's converted. Another useful trick I found is that when I manually convert clothing from G3 to G8 (or vice versa), that one-click *poof* is very nice to have for poofing the clothing to the right position before the rigging transfer.
Mixing head morphs -- lips become strangeI've done some mixing and matching of character heads to make some unique characters. 40% this, 10% that, another 10% that, etc. The character looks almost okay in the end, except for their lips. This happens no matter which characters I mix. Usually their lower lip becomes bigger than usual. I added a morph to reduce the lip size, that looks okay with no poses and expressions, but as soon as I start adding expressions, the mouth becomes catastrophic.
What's the trick to not mess up the mouth area when mixing multiple head morphs? :)Skin and hair ID...Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what skin is used on this character (don't really care about the morph if it is separate,) and what Hair is used in the promo. Thanks.

Auto Face Enhancer [Commercial]Are ERC dials in a forthcoming update for the HD Expressions?
Please save as pose. See PDF save all expression + PowerPose as pose preset.
You can ERC anytime. You just need to create a morph slider.
Save Skin details - save out as shape - create a morph and ERC this too.
Growing Up breast ugly removeWhen creating young females without breasts with Growing Up, it is easiest to use just the base G8F body and dial in only the specific character's head morph. For young males, just use the G8M body to avoid extra muscles.
A big scene works on an old computer , and don't on a new one. Uh?If you look at native DS content, models, you will notice that they have their own Data folder. This is the model itself plus the rigging info and any morphs plus the UVs of each piece. When you save a scene with native DS content, DS will not write new entries into the data folder but instead reference it when loading the scene. If however you were to load in a non natiive DS model, either importing an OBJ file or loading poser content, DS will convert them to its own format when you save the scene so that it is not importing the OBJs again. So when the scene is saved, DS writes new entries to the Data folder for the items you imported. If you need to transfer that scene to a new computer, you will need to know the exact file path to the info DS wrote in the data folder. The easiest way to get the file paths to the data would be to save a scene subset of just the items you need on your old machine and then look at the ss file in Notepad++ to see where it references the data from. Then you can retrieve them from the data folder and recreated the needed path on the new machine and copy the info there.
Growing Up breast ugly removeI just tried Growing Up on basic Genesis 8 Female and a few other characters and can't duplicate your character's problem at all. Did you only use the Growing Up morphs? Maybe there's another breast morph from some other product mixed in that's throwing things off. Here's the Growing Up morphs shown in the parameters tab. There are also other youth breast morphs that aren't part of Growing Up. I got some distortions when I applied those on top of the Youth Morph from Growing Up. Maybe you've got one of those mixed in with everything?

Another thought (possibly not a useful one): That dress (or shirt or skirt) looks like it's been draped with dforce. This is a long shot, but did you accidentally apply a dforce modifier to your character before you ran the simulation? I've done that and gotten odd wrinkly distortions like that on body parts with short simulations.

AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?

Question about morphs and posesIt depends on how the morph was made and for which purpose.
Some morphs are setup to apply automatically when the figure is posed, like joint controlled morphs which correct the joint pose when bend, for example.
Other morphs are not intended to be applied automatically, and you will need to apply them yourself.
Thank you the for explainstion. How do I check to see if morphs are used by poses automatically? For freebies I have the files but how about comerical products?
Things like bend fixers will usually make a thing of that - it's their whole raison d'etre (sorry, Leana - I know there are at least some accents missing there).
So bend fixers like Auto Shape Enhancer will use all available morphs and not just vanilla Daz3D ones? How does it know what third party morphs do?
EDIT:
So can something like Shape Shift improve poses with a bend fixer like Auto Shape Enhancer even if I don't touch any of the Shape Shift's dial?
I don't understand the question - AutoShape Enhancer has a series of correction morphs that improve bends, with an on-off switch. I'm not clear what you expect it to do with other morphs (though I wouldn't try mixing multiple bend enhancer products active at the same time).
Feedback on Newly Modeled Sci-fi Suit DesignI hate heels in outfits like that, but I don't think we really have any way of knowing what impact they have on sales, one way or another.
What I would suggest is that the heels be essentially a separate piece, or maybe two overlapping pieces: one short/flat heel, one long/wedge/whatever heel. So it's just a matter of flipping visibility of one vs. the other.
(A morph would be subject to distortion)

AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE DODICIUn altra cosa che mi è venuto in mente, ma il clone di V4 all'interno di Genesis, a tutti gli effetti è un morph di V4?!?

Feedback on Newly Modeled Sci-fi Suit DesignLove to see the option in outfit products, because there are definitely two camps as it appears. Have an outfit morph and a pose preset and you should be good.
What features would you like to see appear in dazstudio 5?
From a business perspective this makes totally sense for DAZ, since they do not make any income with the software and base versions of the genesis figures themselves. I imagine most customers of DAZ want everything to stay within DAZ and not bother with export and import w Workflows.I would like version 5 to include all the tools available for PAs.
I would like about 20 more canvasses. See Carrara's list of multipasses for specifics
I would also like many of the plugins to be incorporated as regular features. Some of these include
- Ultrascatter Pro
- all plugins that add functionality or convenience to the geometry editor
How much are you prepared to pay for PA only features?
I think this is a good question for many users. It's not that many users wouldn't pay anything at all. I think the true question is how much compared to other software packages and/or solutions that can do the same what the PA tools can do.I don't know of all PA-only tools, let's take dynamic stuff. (Fotmer dynamic clothing pre-dforce wasnt a PA-tool, was it?) Dforce hair. You can get these features with other packages, and these other packages offer a lot more than what the PA-only tool offers. So if DAZ offered the dforce hair tool for money, it depends how much customers would pay for it compared to other solutions that allows them to do roughly the same. That depends on so many parameters. What kind of DAZ Studio users would be interested in such a tool and how many of them are there. How much are those willing to spend. What does the competition offer. How many copies does DAZ have to sell. And so on.
And of course, there is Blender which is free and you can do a lot in Blender what you can't do in DAZ. If a user is comfortable with using Blender I can imagine that this user would not bother with PA-only tools if these come with a heavy price-tag.
Something that you couldn't do, with any software no matter how competent you are is make HD morphs.
Unfortunately only PAs get access to the subD mesh that allows you to do that.
That mesh would also allow artists that create characters that resembles celebrities to create better likenesses.
True. You will never be able to do anything of that in Studio and I didn't mean to imply this. You can create dynamic hair outside of DAZ and either use it there where you created it and together with your DAZ assets, or you could re-import the mesh and use the mesh in DAZ. None of it is the same as having dforce strand based hair in Studio.I agree with you it's probably not the same with HD morphs. You can export Genesis mesh, subdivide and sculpt. You won't be able to re-import your sculpt to DAZ and set it up as an HD morph. That's only for PAs. But the pricing argument stands nonetheless. Since PA-tools are pro-tools I see no reason why DAZ wouldn't charge them as such if they make these available to everyone for sale. That's in the original range of 300-500 USD. How many non-content creators would buy it? Some users will do, no doubt. Would it be profitable for DAZ? Depends, probably.
I don't sculpt myself for figures so I wouldn't buy an HD tool whatever the price. I do create my own clothing and am passionate about it. If dforce clothing were PA-only I wouldn't bother with it because I have other solutions. I was very passionate about dforce hair and strand based hair but now I moved on and if DAZ made dforce hair available for 250 USD I wouldn't bother. Not sure how others feel but I don't perceive a huge interest in dforce hair compared to transmapped ones judging by the bestseller status if the store. It may be very different for HD tools.
I think Daz would loose in the wrong run if they did this. also the PAs that sell HD stuff.
Daz store being the only ones that sells HD stuff is a major thing. If other content creators could sell that on other stores I think Daz would loose more than they would make from that one sell of a license for that tool.
I also think that PAs are not allowed to use it for content created for other sites because I know there are PAs that also sell on other stores but I have not heard of HD stuff anywhere else.
I have to admit, for a long time I was quite frustrated with this. I needed a long time to understand the reasoning but finally it makes sense to me. It changed my way how I want to progress with 3D though, what I'm currently learning, what I want to learn in the future, and for what I will spend money.
