  • PostgreSQL CMS Database.... huh.

The database is the driver for the Content Management System, without it Smart Content and the Presets tabs of proeprty panes will be empty, as will Categories and Products in the Content Library pane. Some other features also use the CMS. Is the content visible in the Content Library, in the Daz Studio Formats list? That (aside from the daz Connect virtual folder) does not depend on the Content Management System.

How did you install? Did you in fact install PostgreSQL (if you are just updating an older version of DS you might conceivably have only the Valentina database engine, which is no longer used at all). If you are sure you have PostgreSQL installed, does it run when Daz Central, Daz Install Manager, or Daz Studio are running - check Task Manager (right-click on Task Bar), enabling Show More and then looking in the list of processes that appears below the main application list.

Daz Central and Install manager are the same for this purpose (theya re the same code under the hood/bonnet).

It sounds as if your DS paths do not match those being used by Daz Central - did you install Daz Studio itself using Daz central or another method? Did you chnage the base path after installing DS?

  • Daz to Unreal Bridge - Meet the Team

    I have UE4.25 and UE4.26 both installed.

Daz central has not informed me of the new update for the Daz to UE4.26 bridge. And whenever I try to install it via Daz central or the Daz Install manager, it always defaults to the UE4.25

So I downloaded the Zip from GitHub and manually installed (copied the files) to the UE4.26 plugins folder. and intermediate folder. Is this correct? When I launch UE4.26 the plugin is there. It imports a character. When I follow the process on the video on the product page, the character runs like they have been hit by a bus, The legs are crazy and FUBAR. I have tried numerous times, with both Genesis 8 and 8.1 male.Ssame deal.

What am I doing wrong, or missing? Ive tried checking fix bone rotations as mentioned on the developers site.

Please can we have updated info, and get rid of any obsolete info.

Logging in has never worked for me, ever. But Daz Studio runs fine even if you're working offline.

You can't use Daz Central, but based on the numerous forum posts about how buggy it is ATM, that's probably a blessing in disguise.

  • Unreal Bridge Not working, please help.

I have the Daz3D Unreal Bridge & says its installed in central but doesn't show up when i use the daz3d editor, it's not in menu list like you would see Hexagon , Bryce or Blender, i did some research it said i needed two bridges one from unreal & daz so looked it up sure enough one from unreal on the unreal market place, i have both bridges now including the one from Unreal but seems the daz side of the union isn't working because i have enabled the daz3d bridge in unreal then go to finish the install only for the bridge not to show up in daz3d, it tells me to copy a dll file to a location i do this and still i don't see a daz to unreal bridge in 4.15 appear, Why isn't the bridge showing up in DAZ3d menu after i have installed the dll in the plug infile?

If anyone could enlighten on how to get this Daz to Unreal bridge to work me that would be helpful, Thank You.

P.S seems the Unreal plugin does work, i didn't have to install the DLL file i just didn't notice that you use the send too function at the bottom of the menu, i thought it would be an option in the menu like the other export functions, This problem is solved but they won't let me remove the post.

  • Very new to Daz Studio

Alright, I am extremely new to Daz3d and, well, no idea what I am doing.
    I have Daz Studio 4.15

I have the Content Manager, Daz Central
I open Daz Central, and I have a bunch of products installed.  Let's take Genesis 8.1 Essentials.
It says I have that, and it is installed.
I open Daz Studio. Products. Figures Genesis 8 Starter Essentials.
Then I go to Figures.  Everything has an exclamation point. Nothing is installed.  Nothing can be found.
I double click on anything there and it says, "Could not open file. File does not exist"
What the hell am I doing wrong?

  • Having odd trouble with Landis Hair (resolved)

I am having a very strange problem with Landis Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Males. I've had it for almost two years and the data is suddenly mising. The thumbnails are still there but I can't actuallly load it. It's not appearing in my Daz Central library. Initially the Documentation Center was saying something like "this prioduct hasn't been released yet" but as I was writing this, that changed and now the proper page is appearing. I've tried installing via DIM, updating metadata, closing and reopening the program, no luck. So I went through all the same steps, but this time manually installing, same result. Now, here's where it gets wierd. If it try to load a scene where a chracter is already using the hair, everything loads no problem. No messages saying "this scene contains products that have not been installed" no grey block where the heir should be (indicating missing data), no bald character, and it's listed in the scene tab. I can even use the included movement and style morphs, but I can't change the texture or anything like that. Another wierd thing is, when I try to add it into a scen,e before the "data does not exist" message, I get a message asking if I'd like to save the current scene, as if im trying to open a new or prexisting scene rather than just add hair to a character. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Or, more importantly, how to fix it? I really don't feel like re-buing a product I've already paid for once, and there's no guarantee that would even work anyway.

EDIT: After 3 days the documentation page is gone again. I'm adding thescreenshot below to see if that gives anyoen any insight.

EDIT 2: Well, I feel foolish. It was a simple matter of opening the products tab in Daz Studio itself, right clicking on the hair, clicking "uninstall" then reinstalling the product by clicking on the thumbnail. Still odd that it doesnt appear in my Daz Central, but at least it works now.

  • Pretty Big Issue Just Popped Up For Me....

I'm in need of some assistance. Tonight I was working on a few models, I closed out of Daz and headed to the daz store to pick up some HDRI's. I installed the HDRI's via Daz Central and loaded back into Daz. Loaded up my model and the lower jaw / chin looked like the first image you see attached :(. I tried other models that are based off the same reference due to thinking maybe I saved after I screwed something up by accident, but they all look like this. Any ideas?

Although it does double as a try not to laugh challenge since it looks so dang derpy :'(

The second image I attached is what the model is suppose to look like.

So I was in Walmart just a couple hours ago.  While I was comparing coffee makers, I heard a terrific crash in the back of the store.  It was loud; very loud!  And I said to myself, what did they drop a boat back there?

So I walked back to see what was up, and sure enough, TWO BOATS had fallen off a cart that the workers were using to stock the store.  They were standing around looking at them and obviously thinking, "what now?".  Rowboats, carbon fiber or something.

So I said to the workers, "Wow, a boat crash at Walmart!"  They did not appreciate my witty nautical humor, as evidenced by the side-eye glances all four of them gave me.  Hey, get it, a boat crash at an inland Walmart?  I mean really, THAT'S FUNNY!

Can't win them all, though, so I moved on to find some ant and roach baits.  Hey, I tried.wink

Hey, I had my mask on and I kept 6 feet away from the boats.  What more could I have done, phoned it in?  devil

They sell rowboats at your Walmart...? I'm jealous... I bet the price checker devices work there and they probably stock the shelves and reorder stuff when they are out... the shopping carts probably have wheels too, not gnarled hexagonal disks tangled with clumps of hair and string*.

Yeah, we have rowboats, but then almost every neighborhood has ponds and lakes in it.  So there's actually a market for it, although nobody has boats unless they have big homes with big boathouses.

When my wife's parents used to live in Illinois and Nebraska and we'd visit, I used be confused by how nice their Walmart's (and the now defunct Kmarts) were... Here they are just huge big box sadness depositories...

So I'll tell you this:  Those "Big Box Sadness Depositories" are just super-busy stores.  In lower-middle to upper-middle class neighborhoods, we're just buying everything in a Walmart.  In fact, I see the buying going as an uncontrolled addiction, which is why the shelves are empty and the floors are trashed.

In the upper class neighborhoods (I visit all demographic areas, so I know), the Walmarts are somewhat less busy, less trashed, and have fewer empty shelves.

most of the aisles look like Visigoths sacked the damned shelves, whatever you went there for- they are out of, nothing has a price**, forget EVER getting anyone to open any locked display cases as there is one key and legend says it was once held by Dave in sporting goods, but he was defeated by Smalgrorg The Destroyer and now you must defeat Smalgorg to possess the key, but today is his day off and he'll probably be back next Thursday, maybe, but if you want you could look for the manager's and ask him to open it, but nobody has seen him in five years... but if you wanna give it whirl, there's a Ouija board and a couple of his bones in a bucket next to broken water fountain by the bathroom... just follow the odor...
Its like the whole store is LARPing Moscow State Food Store #42 in the winter of 1982...(obscure 80s Soviet food shortage reference).

Yep, and I have a theory on this.

*Where the flippity flux does all this hair and string come from?... they don't have carpets in the store and as far as I can tell they don't have any musk oxen or woolly mammoths in the stores either, unless they only come out at night... But yet, almost all the Walmart's and Targets around here have huge clumps of hair and string jamming up the wheels of their shopping carts.
There is like whole toupee attached to each wheel... what the hell is going on there?

You're right!  I suspect it's because Walmart still lets feral chupacabra and cats shop late nights.  The cats are lured in by string and catnip, and the chupacabra come for the cats.  You know, kind of like "Ladies Night" at your favorite college watering hole!

Except that in this case, by the end of the night, the cats no longer need their wallets and purses, while the chupacabra have bought up everything by using the cats credit and debit cards.

That's my "hair and string theory," and I'm sticking to it.

If you need evidence, try this on for size:  You may have heard that McDonalds is removing some of its "in-Walmart" stores.  I submit to you that's because neither chupacabra nor cats eat at Mickey D's.  So there, it's an open and shut case!

    kyoto kid said:

It never used to be this bad as this market was part of a regional chain that a few years ago was bought out be a big grocery conglomerate from back east.

In Central Florida, we used to have all kinds of grocery stores, from Albertson's to Winn-Dixie and everything in between.  Now it's just Publix and a thousand bodegas.

  • Daz Central and installing Content to D Drive

I created a folder (name it whatever you want, for example I named mine 'Daz Studio Contents') in the D drive (HDD), and using Daz Central (installed to my C drive which is SSD) I set base path to download Daz Studio to C drive also. Then opening Daz Studio, go to Content Directory Management option in the left sidebar, open Daz Studio Formats/Poser Formats, edit the directory and choose the folder you created. Then, whatever contents you place in that folder will be read by Daz Studio and appear in the Contents Folder for use in the program.

I am running DS 4.15.0.2 on Ubuntu 20.04 with Wine-Staging 6.4, versions 6.5. and the new 6.6 will break dforce simulation, GPU rendering still doesn't work on the newer versions. I use Blender for rendering with the Diffeomorphic plugin.

Interesting what you note about Wine-staging 6.5 and 6.6. On my Archlinux system, Studio won't even launch with 6.5. Launches ok with Wine 6.5 though ( but it lacks the libs for OpenCL). Haven't had issues like this since the 5.1* line, where I was getting problems with evey odd/even release number (one or the other, I forget which).

    work done so far

1 - reinstalled all that was indicating to be so

2 - tried updating those that require (all 15 assets so indicating) gave up. for example 1 got to 71% on one asset then seem to stall at that point, left for quite a while no change.

3 - uninstalled then deleted closed Daz. then reinstalled through DIM. Still require updating, still won't

4 - as 2 above + deleted from DIM  reinstalled through Daz connect, no difference

5 -  Installed from Daz itself, no difference

    Never had this problem before
