FaceGen vs Face Transfer vs Headshop 12. Pros & Cons?
@outrider42 wow, Facegen did really good! Dos it work only with one photo or can you add more for better accuracy?
Also, can you post photos from 45 and side? I am curious how good the model looks from those angles.
I believe the most recent update allows you to morph two different pictures together. However, I never thought to use that feature on two different pictures of the same person.
What are the different ways to save a Dforce Hair simulation? Here are the only two methods I know of so far.
1. Export Dforce Hair Simulation as an OBJ, but this doesn't always work, as is the case with Dforce Virigin Hair. So I assume it won't work with other Dforce Hairs, however this does work with Dforce Classic Long Hair, especially since specific instructions were provided.
2. Save the simulated Dforce Hair via Scene Subset, which saves the hair and its simulation data. First, unparent the Dforce Hair after it's been simulated (note: it may appear broken, but will be fine after you re-parent it back to Genesis model). You can then add this saved hair to a new scene, then parent it to Genesis 8. It saves the simulation data, so if you click clear under simulation settings, the hair will get restored to its unsimulated state. These are the only two methods I found of saving Dforce hair after it's been simulated. Are there any other ways? It would be great if there was a Save Simulation to Content Library option or Save Simulation As Morph option.
In the case of a Genesis 8 model standing in a default position, it would be nice to have Dforce Hair have default simulated morphs for the most common poses, example: standing normal, sitting normal, hand stand, down on all fours, etc.
Adding RealFit morphs to smart contentHmmm, I think I figured a way. I'll have to find those morphs at least once, and then dial every morph for example 0/33/66/100 % and save those as different shaping presets ( only choose one morph at the time from the list ). Then I can move those shaping presets to clothing items folder in file system, and add those to smart content in Daz studio as shaping presets or something. I suppose that would work, but wonder if there's any other way....moprh dial of course would be the best, but I doubt I can add that to smart content window
Also I noticed that some vendor add those morphs to character -> actor -> clothing -> item name in character's shaping tab, and that would work really nicely too. Unfortunately I don't have a clue where to find those morphs in Content Library so I could edit the properties of those morphs. If for example in DIM the path is something like Content\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\the3dwizard\RealFit One Piece Swimsuit, I have nothing like that in the content library. I'm already missing the data folder....is that even visible in the content library, or is that a system folder in Daz, and it's content can't be edited inside studio?
EDIT: Finally figured it out. I can choose the morphs in character shaping tab, and then go to properties. There I can set the Path for example to Actor/Clothing/OnePieceSwinsuit and then I have all related morphs in one place where those are easy to find
Adding RealFit morphs to smart contentHi, I have couple of RealFit and similar products which has character "soft body" morphs, and I was wondering if it's somehow possible to add those clothing item's character mophs into clothing item's smart content window somehow. Some earlier products had shaping tab in smart content window, where I could easily choose soft/softer/softest or none presets for those character morphs, and that was working pretty ok, so I'd like to add similar functionality to my newer products too. Any help how to do that in Daz Studio would be nice. This is mainly because I own many of these items, and those morphs do not follow any single naming pattern, so it's getting pretty hard to find correct item morphs from character shaping tab without going to Daz shop and check morph names from item page.
G8F clothing sets body morphs even after removalYou're welcome. It just sounded like a very familiar problem. I spent hours trying to figure out a clothing-centric morph on a figure that turned out to be an HD morph that applied when I put the clothes on the figure. I hadn't realized that it could do that, so it took forever for me to stumble upon the answer. I'm glad that helped!
Error Could not find parent for modifier after using G3F to G8F converterYes, when I load her. I've removed all other error messages. I've removed everything I can think of concerning these characters. I was thinking of trying to upgrade them from G3F to G8F again, but suspect I'll still get the same results.
I do not get this error no matter how I delete converted morphs (deleting CTRL morph or leaving CTRL morph and deleting the other morphs). I tried to do some spelunking with google. The only thing I could find to suggest is Edit>Prefrences and clicking the button to clear the DSON Cache.
FaceGen vs Face Transfer vs Headshop 12. Pros & Cons?dave230, the source textures are Genesis 8 itself. This goes for all 3 software. You can confirm this easily by comparing your face texture the base genesis 8 female face textures. Everything lines up. Where you see the brow is the outer edge of where the software starts applying the face from the photo you use. All 3 apps have an edge where the face gets applied. Eyebrows go just far enough to go beyond the boundaries of most of these types of software. As a reminder, Facegen allows you to replace these default textures and use and use any set of textures you like. You could even use a male set if you really wanted to, though the results might not be great since the UVs are different.
One thing that both Headshop and Face Transfer do is they do not use the eye texture of the photo you use at all. If you look that is probably just the base genesis 8 eye texture tinted brown. I am not sure if Face Transfer tinted it brown itself, or what. Facegen actually makes an eye texture, but it is terrible and I very rarely ever use it. So I know why the other two apps would avoid it. Its just impossible to do because you rarely get a photo where the full iris is visible. So for my pics I just tinted the eyes brown. I later made an eye texture using the facegen eye as sort of a guide for the color.
I tired using the photo Mart1n71 used in Facegen. I do not have the light set used, so I am just using a white spotlight and distant light like I do for some simple portraits. I dialed the face shape in at 80% rather than 100.

For kicks I applied a Bluejaunt girl's texture preset and swapped the base color textures back in. I thought it was interesting. The trans maps of the bluejaunte character have no painted on eyebrow, which is why the brow is faded looking. A quick trip to GIMP or similar could change that.

Edit: I'm adding another render of her with the Bluejaunte girl's skin preset, but this time I dropped the translucency to 55, which allows the base color textures from Facegen to be more visible.

I think that is getting there. Though that does go beyond what the test was about...which is how it does "out of the box". Facegen offers a lot more control IMO, but maybe does not offer the out of the box look of Face Transfer. This has more to do with the quality of the default base genesis 8 than Facegen, IMO.
I suppose the Face Transfer with PhilW's Shapes wins this particular round, but I have some real issues with that. Nothing against PhilW, its a great product, but that we need to buy an add on to make Face Transfer actually work is just terrible. Without his product, Face Transfer's result is pretty pathetic. If you judge this without his product, I would say Facegen wins easily. It matches the textures and produces a reasonable result. Looking at the pics, I think Facegen blended the textures better, on Mart1n71's post it looks like there are still signs of where the photo was blended in as the face is lighter than the rest of the skin. In my render using the default genesis 8 settings, it is much harder to spot this. It would appear that Face Transfer is doing something to the surfaces, because those do not look like the default genesis 8 skin settings. Either that or it is the lighting.
G8F clothing sets body morphs even after removalDo the clothes themselves apply any HD morphs? You can look under Currently Used (with your G8F selected) to see if there's any morph from the clothes applied to your figure.
[Released] Tornado Bar: Fight Bar - Pub/Bar environment with destructible props[Commercial]Edit: This set is now out: https://www.daz3d.com/tornado-bar-fight-bar
See store page for more promos
Hi there,
I'm pleased to announce that my 2nd product is currently in Daz's hands, making its way through QA.
Every good action story needs a bar fight, and now here's a bar ready for fighting!
Tornado Bar: Fight Bar is a pub / bar environment with many props for your characters to have a good old bar fight in.
It includes:
- the interior environment
- a basic facade exterior for establishing shots,
- beer glass (with liquid height morphs),
- breakable beer glass (with smash morph),
- beer/rum/vodka/whisky bottles- each with liquid height morphs and breakable versions (2 smash morphs each),
- breakable furniture (comes in prop pieces for ultimate customisation but also has pose-presets to save you time)
- Breakable windows for the front doors (total of 6 morphs - 3 breaking inside, 3 outside)
- All doors are rigged (except the metal roll-door on the facade exterior) - there's nothing behind interior doors but you can easily add another toilet/back-room environment there.
- Rigged beer pump (no liquid but the switch moves) and rigged cash-register
- Mirror behind the bar breaks (2 morphs)
- Probably other things I'm forgetting - see pictures for examples (Edit: Oh, yeah, and the beer fridge - comes stocked with beer!)

Hope you like it
G8F clothing sets body morphs even after removalGreets,
When I create a new G8F -- basic or other -- and then add clothing, it changes the body morph of the area and stays that way even after the clothing is removed. This is hard to describe, so here's what I've done to get this problem:
1) Create basic G8F,
2) Add bikini (HongYu bikini 3, but any except basic clothes apparently -- I haven't tried too many yet).
3) Decide I don't want that clothing so I remove it.
4) Clothing is gone, but the body still shows the torso and breasts adjusted as if the clothing was still on.
I've tried with h a G8F but that does not have this problem. I did some housekeeping my and cleared out some duplicates but the G8F still has the problem. I've looked through obvious things but nothing appears to be wrong, and I'm stumped. I'd greatly appreciate any input or help!
Thanks,
L
Product Cross Gender/Transgender -Transfer morphs (feature suggestions)I would like to know what uses they would give the product and thus be able to work on those characteristics.
For me:
1) The ability to apply opposite-sex genitals. Don't know if that is possible.
2) More critically: The ability to morph different parts of the body at different rates.
I don't know how genitals work on genesis figures, but here is a video of the transformation.
To divide certain parts of the body, it would have to be done with X-Morphs(feet, hands, head, nipples, nose, mouth, ears, nails, torso, legs, etc.) And each one could have their own animationProduct Cross Gender/Transgender -Transfer morphs (feature suggestions)Oh... and an other big issue for me is, that the feed posititoin change, if you trigger in the cross conder clone morph.
That because of the different bone strucuture of the feet and hips.
A solution for that would be alsy very very valueable (e.g. for animtions).
Here it is with movement, I await your comments.
FaceGen vs Face Transfer vs Headshop 12. Pros & Cons?I may be wrong about the source photos. FG may actually save 4K source jpegs with their latest version. They're always saved in powers of 2, so it would be either 1k, 2k, or 4k.
Something else I just noticed. I painted the source eyebrows red because I wanted to see how they were being blended, and it looks like Face Transfer is adding its own eyebrow hair to the end of it.
How do I use Genesis 8 skins on Genesis 2?I only use Genesis 2 and Genesis 1 figures primarily as I am heavily invested in both and I prefer them for the NPR renders I do with 3DL. But I also have some UV products from here and Rendo that I use when I want to use the skin from V4 or Genesis 3 figure on a G2 figure.
But I can't figure out how to transfer a Genesis 8 skin to Genesis 2. I read somewhere that Gen 8 uses the same UVs as Genesis 3 so it seems like it should be easy to do. But I'm not able to use those skins for some reason with the Gen 3 UV product.. There must be a way to do this, does anyone have a tutorial or can they post the steps needed to do this?

Product Cross Gender/Transgender -Transfer morphs (feature suggestions)Since I released X-Morphs I have always been asked for a product that allows transferring morphs from one genre to another. And this is very common also see it in the forums. And it has not all work properly for the transfer utility.

Product Cross Gender/Transgender -Transfer morphs (feature suggestions)Is this supposed to be a morph kit or something? Because a trans M->F does exist:
I'm fairly certain its SFW.This will be a script that's allows you to transfer any G8M form to a G8F and vice versa.
That's something you can already do with Transer Utility, but I think the idea of that script CGI3DM thinks to will make that progress easier.
Im always supportive of stuff to make things simpler! I'd say a quarter of what I buy is utilities.

I'm fairly certain its SFW.Buy Something That Doesn't Work in Carrara? Post your Questions and Workarounds here. (please)trying again to point out the g8f bugs to help tickets. didn't mention carrara at all.
my day job bogging me down with work related stuff. haven't been able to play in carrara at all. mehh
some of my scene inventory from rdna didn't come over. i have to scour old flash drives for the installers. back then my drives were 2 or 4 gb. prolly worth it to transfer it all to a 32gb. i'll never trust a 128gb again. too catastrophic when she blows up
