  • dforceable necklaces

Mada must have heard you! Have you seen the dForce Necklace Merchant Resource? It has great potential. There are lots of options with it. There are multiple pendant choices, two necklace lengths, and several morphs to change the thickness and shape of the "beads" that make up the necklace. I bet you could parent dog tags to the rigid follow node, instead of one of the included pendants, and have your free swinging dog tags. (I haven't tried parenting anything other than the included pendants, so I don't really know if that would be successful. I also haven't tried it on G8M yet. I wonder if that would work?)

So far, I'm having some trouble with it, though. The biggest problem may be a Daz Studio bug; I'm not sure. I've submitted help requests, but it hasn't been long enough to get any feedback on them yet. The most frustrating issue is that after simulation, it looks good, but as soon as the render starts, the rigid follow node holding the pendant suddenly rotates and forces the pendant into the model's chest. I even spotted a Latonya product promo showing the same issue today. Look at the third promo image of dForce Panthera Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s) to see an example of what I mean. There are morph controls to adjust the pendant, but when the viewport doesn't represent what will be rendered, it makes it very difficult to position that pendant. I have to render - adjust - render - adjust - render...until it renders OK. I think the problem has something to do with smoothing modifier.

I'm currently eyeing this product however I was wondering how it will work with G8M? Does someone have this product and knows whether it will work with G8Ms as well? I'm not sure if the follow node might be distorted using auto fit.

  • Harpy for Genesis 8 Female [commercial]

This looks fantastic. A great job, as always.

Since these wings are parented and not geographs, how difficult are they to work on G8M?

Parenting should not be a problem....but the feathers along the arm use dHair, and that will likely not be as easy to transfer.

  • Character identification - who's this?

Hi everyone, I've seen this character here (main pic and the one right after that) and can't seem to find out who she is, at least not completely. It seems to be a mix of different characters. The texture I think is Karyssa 8, and the promo credentials also point to Tara 2 and to Kallisto. Could it be that the face morph and the grey eye color are both Kallisto, and then texture = Karyssa? But Karyssa's and Kallisto's eyes all look rather different to me ...

I'm attaching a second pic from the elegant bun promo where the same texture and grey eyes are used. Any help much appreciated!

  • Morph not working?

You could put ina ticket... was this a purchased product?

I'm pretty sure it's this freebie on dA: https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/art/SY-200-Free-Morphs-Genesis-8-756465264

    On which note...

SickleYield doesn't really respond to people, so I don't think I'll be getting an answer from them any time soon, if ever. That's why I started asking here.

Assuming that's you at the bottom of the dA comments, she's already responded. (Although she did say she may not remember).

I have been using programs like these (DAZ, Blender, Maya, Marvelous Designer, etc.) for quite a few years now. I have a lot of experience, I'd just need to know where to start.

I'm tired, so I may get this wrong somewhere:

    - Load a base G8 figure.
    - Delete the eyelashes (otherwise they'll mess up the vertex orders when exporting to the editor).
    - Set the morph to 100%.
    - Set the figure's resolution Level to "Base" in the parameters panel.
    - Export the figure as an OBJ file. Use the Daz Studio setting, but turn "Write Groups off"
    - Load the figure in your editor of choice. Make sure you maintain vertex order in the import settings.
    - Correct the vertices in the editor.
    - Re-export the corrected shape as an OBJ, again remembering to maintain vertex order in the settings.
    - Go back to your Daz session.
    - Go to Edit -> Figure -> Morph Loader Pro.
    - Click Load Morph Files. Select your corrected OBJ file.
    - Set the name of the morph to exactly the same as the broken morph (you need the internal name, not the label. You will probably need to click on the parameters "gear" on the original morph's controller to find this name), reverse deformations set to "Yes", and "Overwrite Existing" set to "Deltas Only".
    - If done correctly, clicking Accept should fix the morph in that session.
    - Set the morph back to 0 (important, or the figure will default to loading with this set to 100%). You can now save it from File -> Save As -> Support Assets -> Morph assets. I recommend finding the Vendor and "Product" names from the filepaths in the original download, so that you can save over the broken file. (Someone may say that the "Save Modified Assets" is simpler - and it's possible it is. I don't know, it always wants to save more than I think it should, so I've avoided it so far).

That's the basic version for morphs that don't need rigging changed, but this shouldn't.

  • Black Is Beautiful II

Rather disappointed in Shangrila by Mousso. Her morph is lovely but her skin lacks depth and is waaaay to yellow and orange. Even worse is that her face has a different tone than the rest of her body, so when I tried to balance out her complexion by adding blue to her skin, either her body or her face were always not quite right. I just requested a refund.

Not mentioning any names, but there are some PAs here who probably shouldn't be creating black characters.

Completely agree, and the issue isn't just limited to dark-skinned characters either. Perhaps I'm more picky than others, but it just seems that there's very very few that can make skin reasonably CONSISTENT. I've been told things ranging from "Just use different skin" to "Its your lighting". Well, when I see two different skin colors and/or major light/dark discrepancies between limbs/torso/etc., that are generally an equal distance from the same light source and are being illuminated from the same angle at the same brightness, its NOT the lighting. Its even more obvious when you open the textures in an image editor and see the dramatically different RGB values. It almost looks like they used two completely different skins and blended them together just enough so that there aren't any seams.

  • Morph not working?

Why won't this part dial up with the rest of it?

Most likely, a mistake was made when creating the morph and those vertices were excluded from the shape.

If you don't have existing experience in a modelling program, it won't be practical for you to fix, and you should wait for a response forom SickleYield.

  • What the hell is Gordig doing now?

An early working of Frejlamh ("fray-lum"), the queen of the as-yet-unnamed cat people. Due both to the irregular morph of her head and the fur, I'm having a hard time accessorizing her the way I'd like to. Despite buying the body chains specifically for her character, I'm not sure they'll end up working. Her headdress is a combination of a couple things I don't remember off the top of my head. And don't worry, that pelt she's wearing is wolf. Presented with and without dForce sim on her fur. I like different aspects of both, but either way, the fur on her face looks a little too sparse.

  • Morph not working?

I'm using the Genesis 8 female model, and I used a morph called "SY 200 Legs Length" made by SickleYield. As I dial up the morph, a point sticks down coming from the upper teeth. It won't dial up along with the rest of it. Right now it's coming from the upper teeth all the way to right beneath the collar bone. Why won't this part dial up with the rest of it?

I'm trying to contact the creator of the morph. Other people encountered this problem, but haven't received a response from them.

  • Black Is Beautiful II

During the recent sales I purchased three black female characters. Hope to get some renders out soon, will post them here!

This is only my 2nd Mousso character. The first one (an Asian character) has great skin, so I'm not sure what happened here. Or perhaps it's just me... the promos look alright. But then again, I never had problems like this with previous black characters.

I'm much happier with Darcy 8 and Aniyah for Darcy 8. Face morph and skin are great for both characters, especially Aniyah. I don't particularly love their body morphs - both characters are very skinny - but it's not hard to dial in some curves.

I don't know she looks fine to me.  I got her when she was sold at Rendo.

  • Jessi HD without Josephene?

Hey Alex86fire, thank you so much for that excellent explanation! That's awesome news! I had always presumed if you tried to load these characters without the required base being installed you'd just get error messages and a deformed morph, similar to what I've personally experienced when I've sculpted a model/scene on my laptop and then move it across to my dedicated rendering PC without remembering to install all of the required morph dials on the PC as well. Awesome that's not the case! Thank you so much for taking the time to inform me :)

You will get an 'error' message when loading the character but all it will tell you is the missing morph files from Josephene. Just click OK in the window and the character of Jessi (or whoever) will still load into your scene.

What I usually do to not receive that message is load a basic genesis 8 character and dial in the morph I want. No error then. And you also get to see how she looks at less than 100%, maybe combine her with other chars for an even better look. Possibilities are endless.

Hey RDuda (is RDuda in here anywhere? I'm just making assumptions about the local scifi fandom)

I'll make a Baby Yoda morph and texture set for G8M as well as the fabric elements of the Madalorian's outfit if you make the floating baby holder and hard surface mandalorian armor.

  • Jessi HD without Josephene?

Hey Nylongirl, I thought Josephene was a required product for Jessie? Are you able to load her without Josephene?

When a character is a required product like that it means that if you want the character to look like in the promos, it needs that required product as well.

In this example, if you want Jessie to look like in the promos, you need Josephene. Without Josephene she looks like NylonGirl posted. Different, but still interesting.

What these morphs do is they modify the shape of the base figure. You can see above how the Jessie morph is modifying the G8 shape. This moprh combined with the Josephene 8 morph will result in the look you see in the promos for Jessie.

I hope I was clear enough, if not, please feel free to let me know and I can explain it further and even give examples with renders.

  • Figure Metrics and GF8 Height
It's not just that Johnny, this issue is easily reproducible on any number of machine. Not only does the script gets confused in changing the measurements, it also shows wrong values (and converts them wrong too) Here's Niah with her height changed from 5'10" to approx 5'8" as far as the measurements from the pane comes in. While the script shows her height to be about 68 equaling about 5'6.67" or something about that. While 5'8" converts to about 69.6 inches in all. (You can see this in the base figure too, without her height changed. The pane shows 5.10 while the script has it about 70.62 inches which converts to 5.885) Don't even know which one is the correct one now. And another funny thing that happened to me, I kept changing the measurement unit in the script pane (the one where you can select those check boxes), and the height changed to different measurements. i.e. The conversion across different units didn't happen properly, and even ended up confusing the script into thinking that it's an entirely new measurement now. This happened to me only once, so I am hoping that was just a fluke, and happens due to the limited decimal places it rounds numbers off to while converting. EDIT: Nvm, noob mistake. I took 5.67 ft to 5ft 6.7 inches. It is fine, except that what johnny posted, it does gets confused. In my experiments a positive increment to the height decreased it because the morph works as such. It decreases the height on increasing the value with slider and increases the height on decreasing it. That's why it increases the height when you input a lower value than the current height, since it becomes a negative increment and the slider has to move in the negative direction. Also, when I kept the limits locked, no matter what value I try the height to be. The slider would get increased to it's maximum value on either side of the slider. I think that the measure metrics plugin isn't meant to adjust things since it can't do the math properly. Cause it has to convert the increment or decrement in terms of percentage and than set the slider accordingly. In which case, maybe the plugin works and it's the morph. Instead of values in percentage or 0/1 it should have actual values for heights.
