PAs are the canaries in the coal mine - if they hate the figure then there's a problem. With content creation you are studying the figure under a microscope and have to fix any issues you're running into - they will spend a LOT more time using a figure when creating than the average user :)
this is so true! If the PA's don't like a figure they won't make stuff for it...
Speaking of content. Am I the only one to notice there are now links on the bundle page but they only lead to pages that say oops! Except for the one for Victoria.

Not anymore. X'D
But I am now curious on how G9 can move like a mango, if it has a "Mango Movement Collection."

Morphing Fantasy Dress ConfusionOkay, I kind of got lost in here... I want to know exactly which products are compatible with these:
https://www.daz3d.com/iconic-mfd-bundle-1-for-genesis-8-females
https://www.daz3d.com/iconic-mfd-bundle-2-for-genesis-8-females
For those who don't know: These are the newest versions of the Morphing Fantasy Dress, made for Genesis 8 and Victoria 8, and come in two bundles. Apparently Bundle 1 has the dress, the Expansion Packs 1 and 2 and the Wonderland expansion. Bundle 2 has the cloaks, collar and masks.
The confusion is that both bundles say to be compatible with previous MFD stuff... but I dunno which. Can someone help?
Brand New User -- Wait for G9 or Jump Right In?G9 will have very limited compatibility with G8 and earlier. I will echo what others have said, don't spend any money just yet. At least not on anything character related (characters, morphs, skins, expressions, clothes, poses, hair...) I guess you can buy yourself some environments and lights, if you want. In any case, wait for G9 to drop, which should be any day now. You don't have to pre-order Victoria 9 to use G9. Just check out everything that's included for free and then take it from there.Getting Genesis 8 poses to work with non-Genesis figuresIt is possible to write a script to do the transfer, but the person writing the script really needs to have both characters.
I have done a scripts that bi-directionally transfer poses between V3 & G3/G8 and also V4 & G3/G8. It is a bit of a slog to write but not very hard, You need all the bone names in their correct case and do a best guess assessment of how different bones behave in relation to near-equivalent G8 bones. To see the sort of thing I did, take a look here: https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/G8F_Pose_Transfer_To_Glamorous_Vickie_3_Script. GV3 has a T pose and feet that are bent 45 degrees more than G8F's, along with no pelvis bone etc, so all the sorts of conversion actions needed for the werewolf are already done in this character. The things that need doing & checking are described peripherally in this post: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/446941/g8f-pose-transfer-to-aiko-3-victoria-3-gv3
Now, you may have seen earlier in thais post that I said 'the person writing the script really needs to have both characters'. I am afraid I don't have the werewolf and it's not something I would want, but if you PM me, we might be able to find a way of exchanging enough information for me to do something useful. If I were to do it, I'd add one stipulation, that I can release the pose transfer script as a freebie at some point so others can use it too.
Regards,
Richard.

This detail level is disabled by default, and from my tests only adds an extra 100MB to VRAM usage per character (if I read the log files correctly). This is great news for those who worry if G9 and V9 will be too heavy on the hardware. In my tests I could render VIctoria 9 just as well as G8 figures on a GTX 970 system with 4GB of VRAM.
How is that possible with Windows taking 1GB of VRAM, RTX emulation taking another 1GB, DS taking a couple of hundred MB's, the base load of the scene taking some and the Iray 'working space' needing some. By my count, the 4GB's of VRAM has been eaten even before starting rendering, where the geometry and textures for G8 typically take about 1.5GB's of VRAM.
Has Nvidia brought back the information about VRAM usage for geometry and textures, or what are you referring to with "if I read the log files correctly"?
Brand New User -- Wait for G9 or Jump Right In?My opinion: Don't spend ANY money yet!
Download and install the free "Essentials" packages that come with characters and clothes. I recommend Genesis 8 Starter Essentials. Start to learn Daz Studio and play with that free content first. You may decide Daz Studio is not for you. If you do like it, then wait for Genesis 9, which should arrive in a few days, if the "middle of the month" ads are accurate. Download the free version of the basic Genesis 9 at that time. When people figure out what older stuff works and what doesn't, you will be in a better position to know what to buy.
Once you are sure you want to stick with Daz Studio, look at joining the Daz+ Club. You will get discounts on Daz Original products, like Victoria 9. Daz+ annual subscription is on sale 40% off right now.
Consider subscribing to Daz Deals browser plugin. It help tremendously with tracking product price history, notifying you by email when an item in your wishlist is on sale, etc. It is indispensable for any Daz shopping addict.
There are always sales. Prices go up and down daily.
Brand New User -- Wait for G9 or Jump Right In?I'm an author, expecting to use DAZ to sketch out scenes for my own benefit and as a time-killer during writer's block.
This seems like either a wonderful, or terrible, time to be getting into DS with G9 about to drop. I know nothing about any of this short of character creation intros in video games.
- Should I just throw down for the 9.0 model pre-order and start learning with it as my basis going forward? Or would it benefit me to work with the 8 & 8.1 versions to learn the ropes, first?
- WIll the Gen 9 Victoria be backwards-compatible with the 8 & 8.1 expressions, clothes, etc., the way the 8.1 models seem to be with the G8 expressions and so forth? Or will I have to wait for everything to come out in G9?
If it helps: i7 12th Gen, 32GB DDR5, 3060ti w/8GB. Not the best GPU VRAM, or so I'm reading, but you can't have everything. It runs my games fine.

I've just posted some of the 8K skin detail comparison renders over on my Daz Gallery and ArtStation, here's a selecton. Those were rendered at 4000x4000 at 5000 iterations. Zoom in to see that 8K normal map pop!

Thank you, looking forward to these very well done new textures :-)

Apart from the last one I don't like either skin...the 8K skin I think the pores look too large and too deep. But I often find the settings on textures not to my liking so nothing new there. I'm hopeful that adjusting some of the surface settings would improve it. The best skin is the last one...

Aubrie Morph Preset for A4Texture, Hair, and Clothes Not Included!

Victoria 4.2 Shapes++
Aiko 4 Base
Stephanie 4 Elite Base

Cannot find older Millenium Animals in my downloads sectionHave you checked your DIM settings to see if you are still ticked for download of the older DAZ Studio 4, 3, or (<3)?
I ask because there was one pair of shoes for Victoria 4 that I purchased that was for DAZ Studio 4, but I only had DAZ Studio 4.5+ ticked. The shoes didn't show up until I ticked it. Also a lot of Legacy items did that I have to ignore.
Auto-dial morphs for clothes?Yesterday I promised to try with a morph as opposed to a character like Victoria. The morph mention was a tall morph which I don't have. I do have a height morph which shortens the figure but there wasn't enough distortion to need a custom morph.
So I did it using the Pear Figure morph for Genesis 8f.
The dress before and after a morph was applied. Morph automatically dialled in. The thing to be careful of with this is sometimes the label and the name of the morph are different. The label in this case in the parameter tab was Pear Figure, however I had to actually call my morph FBMPear Figure I found this name by looking under the currently used. Please note that this file is a hidden file and you need to have show hidden checked.
This can be found on the parameter tab, top right hand corner icon, the arrow with lines. Go to preferences/ show hidden properties.
I'm also including a couple of renders with the dress simulated using dforce as it's a dforce item.

i'm mostly curious about when the genesis 9 core morph packages will be released.
it'd be nice if they were released at the same time victoria 9 premieres.
i'm not particularly interested in picking up any next-generation characters until they're available. though v9 does look interesting.

I dfon't have any info but I would certainly expect Starter Essentials, Victoria 9, and the morphs to appear together.

The problem I had was not with OBJ Export, OBJ Import, or Morph Loader. It was with Update Base Geometry, which does not seem to remember its last settings. Even when I change it to Daz Studio, the next time it is Custom with that huge percentage.
I can't actually get "update base geometry" to work at all. It claims that the vertext and facet counts are not the same even though I created the .obj by exporting Victoria 8.1 as wavefront then importing the resultant file then exporting again from the new figure/object and finally using that .obj in update base gemetry! Update Base Geometry isn't saving the scale settings, but that might be because it is failing.
Are you sure it was just the base? It's very easy to get add-ons, such as the lashes, or to forget to set the resolutuion to Base.
