AJC Cropped Style Outfit question
Here they are at 100%.
There seem to be a problem with the zipper handle though when using the morphs partially, so it only looks right at 100%, though Open Full looks OK at some settings. See video: https://www.screencast.com/t/Ly3UvL077 The zipper has a node on the Scene Tab though so you can hide it.
The Breast Size morph will fix the poke through when Open Full is partially open.
And yes, very high in polys, both jacket and pants.
The "Dial Them Out" Thread
This is Zelie without Kaylee. She looks alright, but not like a teenager anymore. I like her, though. Since I bought her on sale only for her materials, I've never used her actual morph for anything.
Click on this to see her with Josie 8 50% dialed in as a substitute for Kaylee.
XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)I tranferred some G1 chars today, all worked properly and they are perfect... But the "base" Genesis1 ( the original shape) is broken, when I bend the elbows or the knees the "flesh" bends abnormally, like if the corrective morphs aren't tranferred.

That way I can't fully use G1 shapes since the base is needed for some of them to look correct.
Is the G1 morph rigged? If not that is only reason why it distorts. Can I see a screenshot?
Not sure what you mean by "rigged morph", but here are the screenshots. The morph comes directly from Genesis1, it's the base shape of the char. I transferred it using GenX, along some other morphs, to Genesis3. In Genesis3 they work pretty well.
Once transferred from G3 to G8, the shape is OK but when I bend the arms, the legs or any other part its behaves like there's no corrective morphs, the mesh bends the wrong way. If I apply "Hand Fist" I obtain the scariest alien hands ever!It happens in all flexible body parts and as long as the XT_Genesis morph is active, if I bring it to zero the distortion disappears. Also all the other morphs, even extreme ones like Sadie or Mavka, works fine until I use XT_Genesis.
(Coming Soon) Leading Male Morph Collection 2 for Genesis 8 Male(s) (Commercial)Does Morph Loader Pro still work?It happened to me a few times as well.
This usually meant that the character was not at origin when exported or imported. The morph than tries to match position as well as shape so it moves the character from the origin.
Now I used the send to ZBrush button to export from DAZ, but saved to an OBJ rather than use GoZ to bring in the morph from ZBrush...
Is there away to have DAZ ignore the global position on import, and just accept the delta between the original obj and the new one?
JD
You can select the reverse deformations that Silas3D mentioned:
Thanks!
It looks like a big part of the problem is the geometry resolution, which seems odd as i was only using the move brush, and many times was only slightly nudging the geometry.
Keeping the geometry at the base level seems to have resolved my issues.
Thanks to all!

XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)OK the issue is when navel or mouthrealismHD is selected\included in transfer list on some characters. If you get the Duplicate ID issue, transfer the character again with those unchecked and it will remove the issue. It will bypass those morph links..
Alternatively you can delete these two morphs if you do not want to transfer the character again. (See Attachment)
\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Morphs\XTransfer\DAZ 3D\Base\XT_PBMNavel.dsf
\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Morphs\XTransfer\DAZ 3D\Base\XT_PHMMouthRealismHD
If this happens on a female character then do the same process.
We will look into why this is happening with these morphs. We tested a bunch of characters and never got Duplicate ID issues..Thanks for picking up ones that did
We will see what makes them different and try and find a solution. What's weird is if you transfer the Navel and MouthrealismHD morphs on its own then there is no issues, so issue only happens when it is linked to certain characters..Another Puzzle to solve....Transfer Elebeast trunk to G8M?The Transfer Untility will remove all custom bones, so you will need tor eisntate them using the Joint Editor. The converted trunk won't GeoGraft either, so you will potentially have to rejig the geometry to get around that or be very careful how you use it to avoid visible gaps.
XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)Ok So I actually didn't get round to using this product since it's release so I'm just catching up with everything since the update and have been transferring G3M characters and all was fine. I didn't transfer a batch but did them individually. Am I right in thinking that it should just be the base character that is favorited and not the HD versions of the character? Also is there a preferred place to store the morph folder, or does it not matter?...the reason why I ask is that everything was fine, morphs look amazing, but when I load the Genesis 8 male base figure I got the following error (attached), even though it appeared to load up properly and the morphs all worked. I deleted my X-Transfer folder (which was in the data folder Daz3d - gen 8 - male - morphs - Xtransfer) and the Gen 8 male base figure then loaded up fine. I followed instructions to the letter, and like I said, all the morphs look fine, but only the base male figure error upon loading.
POST EDIT - OK, found the culprit. It was Gianni 6 from the Legacies for G3M Heroes. https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-legacies-for-genesis-3-male-heroes For some reason, as well as creating the usual file for 'SLOSH' in the XTransfer folder, it also created one called 'Base' in the DAZ3D folder. In the Base folder was XT_PBMNavel.dsf and XT_PHMMouthRealismHD.dsf. Not sure if this 'base' file has anything to do with the causes of the error but it is definitely the character xtransfer that caused it.
"Also is there a preferred place to store the morph folder, or does it not matter?"
This is all automated. All you have to do is point to the content directory you wish to use if you have multiple ones. You do not need to touch anything else.
Also if you get a duplicate ID issue and there is no Xtransfer folder in your Genesis 8 data folder then the duplicate ID issue isn't related to Xtransfer. Can I see a log please?
I'm having the "duplicate ID" issue as well, but with the character "Yana" from Rendo. It happens when I try to transfer the body & head morphs (as opposed to the full figure morph). I deleted the XTransfer folder before attempting the transfer.
I need the log file please.
XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)Seems to be working great so far! Just one question: Is it better to transfer the full character morph, or the separate head and body morphs?
EDIT: Scratch that, I'm having the same issue as user "empty" (but with a different character)
It's best to transfer the character dial. It will include the characters head and body and scale correctly as intended.
The "Dial Them Out" Thread^ There absolutely are add-on characters that don't look good without the base. Brandon for Dwayne and Maxx for The Brute, if I remember correctly. Azumi for Aiko 5.
Other characters may not look bad per se without the base, but they lose that special something that makes them worth buying to begin with.
For me Maxx without The Brute looks quite okay. To achieve that more brutish look one can just dial in some Bodybuilder morphs (G8M Body Morph set) and those that give him a slightly more "plumb" figure...
Sometimes it's just to find a) a figure similiar to the "needed" base or b) find the generic morphs to achieve a close look to what the figure is supposed to look like.
Transfer Elebeast trunk to G8M?I have a few transfer tools, and Elebeast is my favorite character, but I prefer Genesis 8. I can transfer morphs but when I transfer the trunk the bones in the trunk disappear. Is there a better way to transfer this?
Hylas' cornerMy most subtle render yet!
I've been lusting after the character in the main promo pic of Lantios Lights. That's got to be Karass, right? Perhaps with a different skin and slightly beefed up?
So, I snatched him up since he's currently available for $2. I haven't actually quite mastered morph transfers from M4 to G8 yet - I'm working on it! - but in the meantime I tried out his skin. Love his elaborate tattoos, and love that his lips are roughly the same colour as the rest of his face. I know that's not exactly realistic, but it's a look I generally like for male characters.
Karass doesn't come with translucency maps so I had to create some myself in order to make the tattoos work in IRAY. I think it all came out ok!

I have a serial no. for the plugin.

Log file sent to you via message. Thanks for taking the time. When the error occured the Xtransfer folder was in the Genesis 8 data folder, only after I deleted the XTransfer folder did the Genesis 8 male error disappear. I have since re-transfered all the G3M to G8 one by one and tested each after each transfer and all is working fine with excellent results. I left Gianni 6 until last. Only afer I have completed the transfer of Gianni 6 and loaded up the Genesis 8 base male to test the morph do I get the pop-up error.
Darwins' Schtuff Pt DeuxI looooove the Nino morph, might get the product for that alone :)
I have to say, the promo pics don't really do a great job of showing us the features of Ray and especially Min Joon.
My Journey integrating Daz with HoudiniPrelogue
As most people here I started doing static art over the past several years (almost a decade actually) and sit on a quite heavy collection of Daz figures and accessories well in the mid 5 figure range in terms of expenses (and I sincirely hope the mods don't kill my thread having this in mind). The obvious step of anyone after doing a lot of static work is getting his feet wet in animation, and when you already have a massice library in Daz its pretty obviousl that you want to use it.
Like everyone else I had to make a decision 1-2 years ago if I go with iClone/CC which is the easiert way to animate Daz characters, or if I jump into Maya or C4D, because lets face it - if you do something for fun why not learn something (in this case a software) in the process that can land you some freelance work. With that being said, almost nobody is looking for Realillusion content creators, which you can very easily find a gig for Maya or C4D. I experimented a bit with both platforms, it's complicated compared to Daz, but not that much - so many freely availabe tutorials online and integrating Daz characters seems easy enough once you figure out how to do the export/import properly.
Yet C4D and Maya have their limitations. While rigging and animating is relatively easy, creating envioronments and especially special effects is a PIA except you download 100s of plugins and make your mac react slower to a simple transform than trying to get out of bad after a bad hangover. Another problem is the competition - if I do want to learn something new, do I really want to spend half a decade just to compete with someone who is doing that for over 10 years if I want to do some freelance work?
Then I stumpled upon Houdini. The "king" of special effects that all the major studios use (yes, I know, in a pipeline with C4d/Maya I get back to that later). Just type in Houdini VFX into youtube and you will be looking at the same rabbot hole I was looking over a year ago. The possibillieties are just breathtaking - and the learning curve - brutal to say at least. Houdini is the most complicated, the most difficult piece of software you can lay your hands on. At least thats what Reddit told me. They literally laughed at me when I asked them if investing 5 years into Houdini would be enough to be able to create some semi-professional animated videos. They laughed even more when I told them that I was planning on using Daz characters. "Impossible", "waist of time", "you're crazy" and some other nice replies.
The stubborn guy I am, I didn't give up. I started getting into the basics of Houdini following all the free tutorials I could get y hands on, then moving on to some paid ones. After around half a year I felt comfortable enough to combine bits and parts of what I've learned into my "own" set of animation and I started to really see why Houdini is so powerful.
One drawback of Hudini is their animation engine - however there has been quite some progress in the newer versions. Actually, people doing rigging and animating characters IN Houdini are almost non-existent and I see that as the "golden niche" so to speak if you are serious about investing time in a "fallback career based on your hobby" - and as an added bonus, if you were manage to do that with Daz characters you would be one of a handful of people that can pull it off. Because, why spend a week shaping a character in Zbrush when you can do the same conveniently in under two hours with sliders considering you have a vast variety of characters an morph packages? Well, the game was on.
The Now.
For me personally, I am working with a Daz -> MB -> Houdini pipeline, but over time I'd like to leave out MB completly and focus more on animating inside of Houdini. Using MB only makes sense if your animation doesn't interact with objects (collissions), but once you have a character riding a bike it seems like a better idea to do everything in Houdini.
Currenty I am in the first stage of creating realistic skin deformations when interacting with foreign objects and also experiment with grooming to make hair movement as close to realstic as possible. My next step is to fine tuning face expressions and hopefully create a script that can be used as "text to speech" and actally look realistic. That way we would be able to use Facecapp capture for facial expressions via blendshapes but text to speech for lip and jaw movement which again, will give you a much beter starting point for finetuning your scene.
So after this whole tirade, I am looking for people who already dipped their toes into Houdini using Daz chacacters/props so we can exchange experience and come up with solutions to problems as well as learn from each other. I did a uick search and found some existing threads on Houdini, so I am sure we can do a small team - I can' be the only one doing this.
Cheers,
GeorgePS: Lets keep this thread focused on Houdini, I don't want this to end up in a flame war between favorite softwares because the thread will be deleted. If you use CC/iClone or C4D/Maya thats perfectly fine with me and I am sure you make amazing results, but there are already many many threads on that topic.
