  • [Solved for practical purposes] DAZ 4.15 not opening

    Richard Haseltine said:

    If you go to

    %AppData%/daz 3d/studio4/log.txt

how does the log file end?

It hasn't recorded any data from any of my attempts to open it. The last entry is from this morning just after I updated, when I tried opening 4.12 as normal to make sure it still worked. It was able to open without issue, so I closed it. After that, nothing, not even any activity in the Task Manager. At the time, I thought there were two different executables each shortcut was linking to.

    Edit:

Tried opening through DAZ Central, still nothing. Uninstalling and reinstalling 4.15 did nothing.

  • How can I go back to an older version of DAZ?

GREAT thanks a lot just downloaded something that I thought was the daz studio program without daz central but it is not and now I have no idea how to remove it. Thank you so damn much.

    Charlie Judge said:

Older versions of DS are not available for download anymore. If you have a backup of the install files you can reinstall the older version manually, otherwise you can try opening a support request to see if Daz support can provide you with them.

DAZ Studio 4.5 is still available as part of the DAZ Studio 4.5+ SDK which can be 'purchased' for free: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-4-5-sdk

Edit to add: This version was before iRay rendering was available.

  • Converting CO Ichigo Genesis 8 to Genesis 8.1 Problem

I used the method shown in this video first

Then I simplified it by just loading the Genesis 8.1 figure and applying the head morph for Ichigo, which yeilds the same results as the image attached above.

Also I have uninstalled and reinstalled the products. Tried to install the products through DAZ Central and smart content. Still have the same issues.

For me the messed up effects come up the moment the morph is loaded on, so there is no normal =[.

It is weird because most other face morphs work normally. The problem is seen from products created from Crocodile Liu. I have sent a ticket in to let DAZ know about it.

I am having similar issues converting other characters faces from Crocodile Liu:

  • What's with the high memory usage?

...I'm still using the 4.12 Beta (W7 as well) and it clocks in at 245 MB after startup with nothing loaded in the viewport. and that's split among two displays with several tabs permanently open and no active links to the Daz site (don't use Connect or Central).

Sounds like even on W7 4.15, is a bit of a resource hog.

  • New PC Problems

Ive completely wiped the prebuilt pc and installed a different version of windows but still cant connect to my account through studio or DIM. Ive searched the logs and the only thing i can see that would be a problem is with DAZ’s cloud data. It’s almost as if somewhere it has saved my old IP address for my old computer and since I’m on my new computer it will not connect to thier server. Ive swapped out the dll files. Ive done everything i could think of and went through these forums for people having the same issues and tried everything they have suggested. This is extremely frustrating, have spent a good amount of money with them, and cant even get a response back from thier tech support. Ive have no antivirus software installed, Ive turned off the firewall, allowed acces for studio, DIM, and DAZ central through the firewall. Probably best if i take a step back from it before i lose my mind. Thank you guys again for your suggestions and help

  • Issues With Some of Digital Touch's girls.

I recently purchased DT-Felicia, DT-Luna, and DT-Farah and I am having a kind of weird issue, I can install DT- Felicia just fine with install manager or Daz Central just fine, When I install DT- Luna I have to install her twice it seems to have her where I can access her in smart content in Daz Studio, in other words, she stays a black and white image that is not installed, DT- Farah who is my favorite of the three doesn't even show up in smart content to install, she does show up in Daz Central and in DIM to install but when I install her with Daz Central she still doesn't show up in smart content in Daz Studio, I just checked and all three figures show up in the content library. I did database maintenance and reimported all meta-data and now Felicia and Farah show up as installed in Smart Content but there is no sign of Luna even though she is installed in Daz Central. I have no clue what is going on here, seems like the products are conflicting with one another in some way,

Well just watched this Unreal 5 video and it does look impressive, also it says at the end of the video that an early pre release version of UE5 is now available..

Can't wait to start learning UnReal, and then after that, Houdini. I tried to get the bridge working yesterday and start working on tutorials but I couldn't get the script to port Daz assets to UnReal to show up in the script tab. I tried DIM and Daz Central. I need to get this figured out but the tutorials I watched looked good.

Yeah it certainly does look good, the problem at the moment is the landscape is just a desert/arid biome..  Would love to see what they do with forests and so on, and of course cities, towns and villages..

  • Shaping Filters Glitch

So, I decided to organize my .duf files in the "scenes" folder....Man, I wish I never did! Every sice I organzied everything all my different project characters into their respective folders, my Daz is ruined. Mainly just when trying to use the shaping tool. For instance if I were to change the shape of a figure's mouth, normally I would go to "shaping" and click mouth, and all the options would appear. Now there is nothing there. And all I can do is go to "all options" but that takes forever and I enjoyed having the filter know I was looking for everything that fell under the catatorgy for "mouth." I uninstalled everything. Daz central, install manager, and daz studio. Reninstalled, and the issue remained. What can I do to get my Daz studio to function in a way that is optimal and again?
In the attached photo you can see what I mean. There is no longer any option inside of the shaping tool. Every other tool works just fine, only shaping is broken, what can I do?

Had to uninstall Sci-Fi Retro space suit for G8f because of texture problems with the male opposite. Now i can't reinstall with dim. Everything looks ok in dim, but in studio the product icon is grey and only install through Central. Any suggestions? Also in Dim log i get a lot of "Remote Name Collision: " today...

...actually I originally moved to the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) from the north central area of Wisconsin where it gets really cold (like -20° to -30° F) and I've seen significant snow as early as mid October and as late as the early part of May.  I now live in Portland OR 130 miles to the southof Seattle as the crow flies   Been in the Nothwest for 41 years and at first it was nice having 50° temperatures around the Yule Holidays, but over time I've become totally acclimated to the point I don't think I could ever handle a Wisconsin winter anymore. Also arthritis has kicked over the tehy last 15 years to the point it makes those chilly damp days muchless enjoyabe.

I need to be someplace like Hilo where it's always in the mid 70s to low 80s year round.

  • Can't Get purchased product to load

Are you installing with Daz Connect (inside Daz Studio)? If so, it is likely that the Daz Connect download file is corrupted, as indicated by the "Syntax error - expected '{' or '['" error message. that happens a lot with Daz Connect and is one of the reasons I gave up on it. You will probably have to submit a help request and ask them to fix the download file, if you insist on using Daz Connect.

Where are all these Poser (_Ps) and Poser Companion (PoserCF) files coming from? Did you install those with DIM or Daz Central?  You don't need those for Daz Studio.

You should not be installing products with both Daz Connect and DIM (or Daz Central). Daz Studio will always use the Daz Connect version even if you also install with DIM or Daz Central. Since the Daz Connect version is corrupted, installing with DIM or Daz Central does you no good unless you UNINSTALL from Daz Connect.

The Last Stand contains both 3Delight and Iray environments for Daz Studio. I installed The Last Stand DS with DIM. Both  the 3Delight and the Iray set load fine for me. So, there is nothing wrong with the product iteslf.

Bought -- Startup: Vital Tips in Getting Started with DAZ Studio and it does not appear in DAZ Central, I see it in my account as being purchased, but cannot download it manually and cannot find it anywhere. When I list my assets in my library, it appears. I have no way of finding it to install it. I have sent messages to technical support and now sales support with no response. Since there is no number to call, I am at my wit's end trying to figure what to do. I am thinking that I need to contact the Attorney General in MA to lodge a formal complaint. Does anyone have any suggestions? And why does DAZ not have a phone support number?

So this is also not a matter of wrong/different install directories. It seems Daz Central is not registering my Daz Connect installations at all.

    -------------------------

What I want to know is why do Daz Studio installations (through Daz Connect) not synchronize with Daz Central and how can I make them synchronize?

It is because DAZ Connect uses installation paths which DAZ Central cannot see.

    Thank you.

Is there any way that I or the developers can make Daz Central see the Daz Connect installation path?

Why are they separated in the first place?

That is a very good question, since quite a lot of problems surfacing here are related to DAZ Connect installing content to a location that no other installation method uses, it fails quite often and still has priority over all the other installation methods (DIM/DAZ Central/Manual installation)

    1. DAZ Connect, as the name suggests can be used to connect to DAZ servers within DS
    2. DAZ Connect uses installation path with \Cloud\ in it
    3. Some years back DAZ tried to introduce encrypted content

I'm not connecting the obvious dots, but the reason for abandoning the traditional folder structure and placement of files can be read between the lines.

So it seems the content downloaded through Daz Connect is installed into an encrypted folder stored on my PC but which only Daz Connect can access by connecting to the Daz Cloud. And this encrypted folder is what is preventing Daz Central from accessing and seeing the contents installed, therefore not allowing Daz Central to know the status of Daz Studio contents installed via Daz Connect.

None of that is correct. The content is installed into /data/cloud/1_SKU/, where SKU is a unique identifier for each product - you can see it on the product page. The files are compressed but not, barring errors, encrypted. You do not need to be connecrtwed to Daz to use the content. Daz Central can't see the Connect instalaltion, and if there is a Connect isntalaltion DS will use that in preference to any other, but nothing is interferring with Daz Central itself. Daz Central simply doesn't have a way to know what is isntalled through Connect.

I always install morphs/sliders/add-ons using Daz Central because they can't be installed via Daz Connect. However, I install all my figures/props/environments/clothes using Daz Connect.

The only native Daz Studio content and tools that cannot be installed through Connect are plug-ins, and things that install like plug-ins (some older scripts and shaders that have to place files in the application folder) or content that needs access to other content in the same location (ExP morph expansions for Victoria 4, Michael 4 etc.). Some scripts will not work if installed through Connect, but that is down to the way the scipt is written.

Would you recommend that I install my figures/props/environments/clothes using Daz Central instead of Daz Connect? Are there any differences between these install methods for such products?

The big difference is Connect can see updates, when it goes on line, and can download just the updated files instead of the whole zip.

Thank you for explaining. It took a while, but you finally understood my question.

Connect has always worked that way, it does it to avoid cofmlicts when two products install the same file (e.g. a common texture such as wood or concrete that the PA may use in multiple products) - something that requires careful management in DIM (and Daz Central) and which can cause issues if there are manual installs. The folder is called cloud because it holds content downloaded from the cloud (a CDN), it doesn't mean the content is not locally stored (it wouldn't be practical to store content remotely). Yes, Daz brought in an encryption system to try to blocjk (rampant) piracy, but they could have done that just as well (possible issues with shared files aside) without using the separate folders.

Reading between the lines is making you see ghost text.
