Is there a way to get Daz Studio to install somewhere else besides my C drive? Does not seem to be an option for that. My C drive is devoted to my OS mostly, and not much room for anything else..so if Daz goes there along with content I doubt it would fit or bloat it out since it is just a 250GB SSD.. My other drives are much larger and that would work just fine.  I did manage to install that Daz Central thing to another place (Drive F)..and thats about all the optiions I got..after that it automatically went back to C to install studio.. I recall the old manager gave you an option which I admit I liked better..this one don't. Thanks

Daz central does not appear in DIM, since they are noth doing the same job (it's just that central has a streamlined interface and reduced set of options) so I'm not sure what you mean here. You certainly do not need to have Central installed to use Install Manager.

Having been in the Mojave Desert for a 24 hour period for a crash recovery in 120 degree heat, I feel for those who are not used to those temps. So many coastal homes built in the Western and Northwestern US before the 1980s don't have A/C and those on the coast today often don't. I expect that is changing though. Before I moved from the Central Coast, I noticed the number of days we felt the Santa Ana winds and heat go from a few days in the summer to weeks in the summer, and the year I moved, the grass was burned down and the earth was grey due to drought, and fires common.

As soon as I wanted to go online with DazStudio 4.15 the program crashes. I deleted everything and installed it through Daz Central again. The only things I did not install were the plugins for several other programs.

I went through the helpdesk, but there seems to be something wrong with some files that need to be updated and are handled as soon the new Studio will see the light.

I think if you set something in the market that it should work and if you know the problem it needs to be solved and not only with a major update.

Please load up the files that are needed to make the Studio functional. That is all I am asking! When I see the troubles to come, I am holding my breath.

Do I have to install DAZ-Central? (The onl choice)

So it started DIM and I could see all packages. None 8.1

So how to get Genesis 8.1 ?

That's an important file to be missing. I would suggest going to your Product Library and manually downloading the zip folder. Unzip it and see if the file is in there. If it is, copy the contents to where they should be. If it is not in there, a Customer Support Ticket is the way to notify the company that the uvmap data is missing. Then it's between them and the PA to get a fix to up-date the product.

In the meantime, it won't be the same, but what is required is the uvmap. You can make another uvmap using a modeler [like Hexagon or Blender or UVMapper or whatever] and then select it on the Surfaces Tab. [be sure to 'save' the new uvmap before saving any materials made using it]. 

So I checked the file location for the error and the file is already there. I copyed the contents of an unzipped copy into the location, but the issue is still there. Should I send Daz a Customer support ticket?

Daz Central is intended to offer a very simple experience for new users, if you need greater flexibility 9and complexity) it would be better to use Install Manager.

This isn't so much a request for a product, but a suggestion to improve an alredy existing one. When you've been using Daz for a few years, you're bound to build up quite the library, which can make it difficut to find a specific product you had when you need to reinstal items for whatever reason. The help allieviate this, my suggesttion would be to add a "filter" system to DAZ Central, similar to what the store has, so you can search for products by category. Figures, environments, lights, etc., rather than having to scroll through your entire library if you don't remember the exact name of a product you've owned for a long time, but don't currently have installed. 

...10:45 and already 95° here. Need to find someplace to go that has AC but the restrictions on sitting indoors at places like coffee shops, cafes, and pubs and won't be lifted until Wednesday.  Several libraries are open as locations for us older folks to go to but they're all out in the burbs. The central library in the city centre where many seniors live is still closed.   The only place is open to get out of the heat is the convention centre but nothing is going on there (at least the library has books & stuff to occupy one's time with).   Actually thought about taking the LRT to the airport and sitting at a coffee shop there watching aeroplanes. (closer and easier to get to than any of the suburban libraries) but not sure if staying there too long might not appear "suspicious". 

Yeah, going to shut down the system soon so it doesn't blow up.

DAZ Central works fine. Not sure what the deal is with dim. I'd really rather not use central.

Yea, that's my impression. I've tried two different computers, tested out Daz Central, and it's always sorted in the same wrong date for order in smart content. What a huge disappointment. I was willing to be patient but it's been 8 months now, you'd hope that there would have at least been a word about whether we could expect it to be fixed or acknowledgment that they know of the issue. It's hugely impacted my desire to create, and made my work flow a lot more frustrating.
