tara 2 product issue
Sorry your having all these issues.
You can install all of your Daz content on another drive. If you decide to do it manually then you have to move the files yourself. The zip have an extra folder in there that you don't want and that the other install methods take out. You will want to empty that folder and carefully put them where they are suppose to go. What a lot of people do is put and empty "Runtime" folder on their desktop and unzip the pack into there. Once in there you need to move them to the designated folders, carfully (be sure to get it in the right place or it will break the pack). This way it won't put anything from the pack on your main HD. I'm betting that your Daz folder has the extra "Content" folder. If so you'll need to move all the files into their proper place. You may want to think about using DIM Daz Connect, or Daz Central or DIM too do your installing and they all can be directed to any drive you want as well, plus you will get all the updates as they become available in live time. There is nothing wrong with installing manual so don't take that bad. Actually a lot of people still do it manually. It is just streamlined if you install with one of the other 3 methods and the files go where they are suppose to.As far as the other issue, if your installing the products with Daz Studio open then you will need to re-import your meta data, then they should show unless its a different issue. But, typically when you do manual installs you need to do that. I make it a habit now to do it regardless of what method I use to install. It won't hurt anything. I've been away for a while for medical reasons so they may have fixed these issues. I'm not 100% but you can check and if what I'm explaining is right then we'll know.

How are you installing? Manual, DIM, or Daz Central? Is Daz Studio open when your installing?
manual, i open dim, then let's say in search type tara then when it appear i click to install then it goes well on the DIM side the issue also happens using the central, the issue don't seens to be coming from then, but rater from daz itself, because it's not the first time i'm having issues with tara, this is a old issue which i had in the past before before had bought the new HD and formated my pc, now i'm reinstall everything and trying to having all daz stuffs being instaled in my slave hd(4 tera) which is another issue which i'm having, because no matter how hard i'm trying to install everything on the slave hd daz still cheat on me and keep installing some stuffs in my primary hd eating a lot of space from it, like it already eat like 4 giga from hd primary hd and it's really annoying, but it's another issue here
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/507871/need-help-with-install-daz-in-a-secondary-slave-hd
and i would love some help here too
coming back to main issue it's seens something on daz side when installing some products somehow daz overlap this other product over tara making it's looks like it get uninstalled but still installed, it's a really annoying issue.

When that happens, I keep the newer one.
I think that's my preference, EXCEPT often the "newer" one has today's date, so it seems to be the date it was copied to my HD, not the date it was created - meaning it may be older. I find Daz installation options to be ultra confusing. :-(
Ideally I wouldn't have to manually install. My main desire is permanent installation of assets. i.e. I want to install all assets on the D:. so they 1) get backed up as part of my regular D: backup, and 2) don't fill my C:. Your answer would do that.
I know I can edit the Base Path Location in the Daz Central Settings (the gear icon in the top right corner of Central) so my purchases install on the D: drive.
However, the third reason is that I sometimes resinstall Windows. I want to store content on the D: so that if I reinstall Windows, and then reinstall Daz Studio, I DON'T have to reinstall all my content (which comes to many GB).
So, in this scenario, assuming I had used Daz Central to install assets to my D:; if I then reinstall Windows and Daz, can I point the freshly installed Daz Central to the content on the D:. to save installing it all over again? Is there some other metadata that needs backing up and restoring so that Daz Studio knows where to look for the existing smart content? I imagine this is a common scenario (not wanting to spend days having to reinstall all the Daz assets just because you reinstall Windows, or change to a newer version of Windows).
Once I know what to do it will be brilliant, because then I only ever have to install items once, but will still have access to them if I reinstall Windows (and have access to loading stuff via Smart Content).
Otherwise I get the impression that the only way to do this is to MANUALLY install content on the D: by unzipping files into a Content folder there and pointing Daz Studio (not Daz Central) to that folder (which is why I am tring to do it that way). This has downsides, such as Smart Content not working; many older items may not work properly; the file structure being determined by the asset's creator, and not being consistent; Daz refusing to support users; and also some issues where unzipping things reveals the same path and file names, but different file sizes, so it isn't clear which file to keep (as here). I'd like to avoid all that if possible, which is why I'm hoping I can install via Daz Central once, but get Daz Studio (and Daz Central) to recognise the content even after I reinstall Windows, after I point it to the correct places for content and any metadata.
Fingers crossed there is a way to do this!
How can I get DAZ to export all maps like normals, roughness etc with my .OBJ?romboutv said:
@TheMysteryIsThePoint Many thanks for all the work you've put into this!
EDIT
Ive put the file in '''C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DazCentral\plugins''' but it doesnt seem to work from there. Ill check if i can find other folder. I basically dropped it in the default folder
This is why i kinda hate Windows, why 2 folders? Probably due to the other folder being the Central app for downloading.
just found this folder '''C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4'''It still doesnt show up in studio 4.15 on Windows?
EDIT2
Okay got it, its under the edit menu, i was looking under export > options dropdwon
You are very welcome. We do what we can.
Sorry about the Edit menu... for some reason there's a DzEditAction class, but no DzFileAction class, and I'm just lazy. I think you can still put it wherever you want by clicking on Windows|Workspace|Customize.
Let me know how it works out for you.

I definitely hope the last version of 4.15 will be reasonably well done. I just worked for 3 hours on a render in 4.15.0.2, then suddenly it crashed when I adjusted a pose. I'd just saved the scene a minute before so no big deal I thought, but it would not open, DS kept crashing every time I tried.
That's exactly one reason why I stay with my DAZ 4.14, as it rarely crashes on me. A lot of my fellow creators have similar issues as you with DAZ 4.15.
And to be honest, when DAZ needs up to 5 mins to start (constantly checking for connect-updates that it is unable to fix) and then needs 20+ minutes to load the scene, such crashes are absolutely unacceptable if you wish or need to create more than one image per week.
Loading times of my scenes are often longer than render times with render quality 3 and less. Every crash because of a faulty implementation of the new posing mechanics is a huge problem.Actually 4.15 rarely crashes for me, and it loads in about a minute (maybe because I use DIM only, and never Connect). I only have 8 GB RAM and 8 GB VRAM in my render PC so I can't create huge scenes so loading time isn't that big either. I think long scene loading times, at least in cases when using newer characters, may have to do with having a lot of these characters and their morphs packs installed which slows down character load, which is well known. After uninstalling 80+ % of my characters, character load time dropped drastically. But this is a general problem, not a particular 4.15 problem, AFAIK.
4.15 has issues, but for me and what I use it for it's not a big problem, I just don't like the idea that when I save a scene I can't be sure that I can load it again, and I hope it's not something that's going to plague future versions.
...can you completely disable or delete Connect and Daz Central?
Connect is easy - just don't log in to your account from Studio - ever. If you log in, Studio/Connect will automatically download and install any and all metadata updates which can put your smart content out of sync with your content library.
Central is pretty much the same - just don't use it. Use DIM or download and install products manually.

I only use DIM. Not DAZ Central. When I start DAZ in online modus or activate it DAZ tries to actualize Smart contents. Apparently, it always tries to update the same 6 items and fails for 2. But I cannot figure out which. Next start it resumes the same process.

I don't know, I just don't use Connect/Smart Content, or log in with DS. I did for a short period once but dropped it again. DAZCentral I've never used, I've always used DIM. I recall DS sometimes offer to download and install content when loading an item that needs something I own but haven't installed, I guess that uses Connect, but I just say no and use DIM instead. It's either the one or the other, to me.

Interesting. My DAZ Central download did the same thing with the DAZ Studio installation. While Studio starts up OK, I get the 'fatal error' message after a few minutes. Maybe DAD Central needs to be fixed to instell properly.
Or maybe some sort of manual install option is in order?
I'd be interested to see if a solution is forthcoming.
With mine, it wouldn't even open, before I get the fatal error. I tried installing a really old version of Daz that I have saved on a disk and it gets the same error. I tried downloading the newer Daz iusing Daz Install Manager (maybe that would work for you, though?) instead of Daz Central and... no change.

Fatal error!Serene Night Thank you for that. I checked the DxDiag file. There were no problems logged there.
I'm wondering if the problem is the intallation of DAZ Studio itself. When it installed via DAZ Central, it kept stopping at around 75%, had to be restarted and would restart at 57%. I had to restart several times, which makes the idea of uninstalling an reinstalling rather daunting.
DAZ Central really doesn't deliver.

Daz studio can't be run with elevated permissions, when logged in the Administrator account[Solved]I have to say I've been using Windows with the built-in administrator account since Windows XP, that's close to 20 years, and this was the first piece of software that refused to work with it.
The built-in administrator account needs to be enabled (net user administrator /active:yes in the command prompt), and is running everything with elevated privileges by default, there is no way to undo that, only running the program as another user and this central that works as a launcher for other processes makes that completely impossible. Even if I get around that, since I'm running the software with another user, some of the libraries are doubled, which breaks the tutorial, because it doesn't allow me to click on the right item.
I've never encountered an issue running software using the built-in administrator account before, if anything I've got rid of most of my issues by using it, which is why I've gotten in the habit of using it the first place.
"A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established" and Login error (Windows 10)Hello guys! I've seen some discussions on this problem in the forums, but so far none of it had worked for me.
I downloaded all the Daz programs on my new PC about a month ago, and ever since then i get the same error message every time i open Daz Studio: "A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. etc"
After that, I try to log in to my account and it says login error, even though I know that i write in the right email and password, cause i tried a million times and i am able to log into DIM.
I've tried everything with my firewall, i uninstalled everything, deleted the hidden folders then reinstalled it all again at least 3 times now, i even tried opening CMS's port through windows firewall and in my router too, but that didn't fix anything either. Someone said don't install Daz Central cause sometimes that messes things up, i didn't, still not working. Other person told me to uninstall the two PostgreSQL CMS things in DIM (the standard and Valentina) and then only install the standard one, didn't do anything either.I feel like i'm starting to run out of options :/

To be honest, the numerous little glitches that people have been reporting on various products over the last couple of weeks, reminded me of a time at work when someone thought they were resoring one file from the backup, but they actually restored multiple files. We had numerous oddities and old versions of files popping up for weeks until we worked out what had happened.
Yeah, I suppose something like that could be possible, I have no idea how Daz end looks like, but this kind of things can probably happen in any environment.
Thing is, we do not use DIM and therefore did not realize the update had happened, I assume you got notified through Dim/Daz central?
Daz Central Not Responding@mayupolo. I am having similar problem. I downloaded Daz central per the Daz tutorial, launched the installer and it installed, then I checked the box for "launch Daz Central" and selected the finish button per tutorial but nothing happens? Itry launching the Daz central and i notice in task manager it is shows it is running under processes tab but nothing shows up on the application tab nor does it actually launch so i can log in and get started so i can use the Daz software. im using windows 7 pro, 8gb ram, 200+ gigs of free space, i5 processor etc. anybody have a clue why Daz central doesnt actually open so i can login and use it?
Smart content & Product listingscridgit said:
Can you post a screenshot to make sure I know what you by "products"?
There is a Products folder under Content Library and if that is what you're referring to, nothing "moves" out of there. It does contain you full list of products. All of the assets in products with the correct metadata will show up under Smart Content (but not all). The content folders themselves (the ones above Products) will show you literally all your content as they don't rely on metadata, however they are organized as on your hard drive and often less intuitive than Smart Content (when done correctly).
What you refer to here is correct products in the content library tab yes. You have Daz studio Formats, Poser formats, Other Import formats, Products & Categories. Products have all the purchased content from daz thats installed via the Install Manager or Daz Central.
Smart content has improved but still misses a lot of content, some of the most recent releases have been seperating poses and some props in smart content leaving them out of products where they normally show. Theres a list of full content in Daz studio formats under Mydaz3dlibrary that has everything including manually installed non daz content, but that list is more confusing when looking for specific Daz3d products so in most cases i use the product list to hunt down stuff i have aquired in store.
ANY way to refresh the Catalog list to show deleted products?Either Daz Central, Install Manager, or Connect should give the same results - mixing can be problematic, and if you go online (regardless of method of installation) it does seem possible to end up with different metadata from local instalaltions (but that was probably due to transient bugs).
