Beta for DazCentral, your new Content Manager
When I used Daz Connect, I found that I couldn't download the files on one PC, and then transfer them later onto my main PC, which meant that I couldn't create a backup of all my products. (I'm on a 2mb line so downloading takes forever,)
Does DazCentral allow you to simply move your entire library around, backup, restore, move it onto an external hard drive if you start running out of space, move it to another PC, when you upgrade etc like you can with files downloaded through DIM?
I guess this answers my question. it looks like we have to redownload our entire library. It seems like just another form of DRM to be honest.
Can I copy products installed using Daz Connect from one computer to another?
The preferred workflow is to log in to each computer and install the desired products using Daz Connect
I like to move files around on disk to organize them differently. Can I still do that?
You cannot move files around for products installed through Daz Connect. You can change the drive and/or path to which products are installed using Daz Connect, but you cannot manually re-organize the files within the product.
It's not but I understand your concern. At least, it isn't so far.
Can't load any g8....Looking at your second Log-file;
The file "ePHMDDAlyxSmile.dsf" has a typo somewhere within the code => Reinstall the file and if the error doesn't go away, look for an update or contact the PA. You could try to figure out the mistake by yourselves, but it may be quite difficult as it could just be a comma instead of a full stop or something just as frustrating.
You can remove the file or rename it to "ePHMDDAlyxSmile.dsf.xxx", which will get rid of that particular warning but unless you remove the character as well, renaming/removing can cause new warnings due to the missing file that is referenced in other files of that character.
KinsleyBody.dsf... Could be the same thing.
Alias... No clue
Aliases are things like expression sliders on the ehad as well as the actor, or hand controllers on hand and figure - having one property appear in two places
The morph/file "CTRL_ChRO_Smile.dsf" is trying to find another morph/file "eCTRLEyesClosed.dsf" to change it's value, but cannot find it
... The same with the rest of "Could not find", the easiest solution is to remove the file mentioned after "in file :", keeping in mind that if the file is a part of a package / character, the rest of the package / character may as well be in need of removal if removing the one file causes new warnings.
"Duplicate formula found" = You have the same morph installed at least twice in your data-files, this could be that you have installed the same file twice in different locations (revisions may cause this), or the PA has copied code from a previous morph and didn't change it enough, or even DS may have erraneously written code into a wrong file when updating assets.
Duplicate Formulas does not usually indicate duplicate files, it's mostlly a conflict with two products using the same name for their different properties. It can also be an issue within a single property, but testing shoudl catch those.
Reinstall the morph, search for duplicates and these don't give you a solution or a clue to the cause, remove the character.
DIM is fine. But Content is disorganized. Those of you who refuse to allow the CMS to run do need to bear in mind that it is used by more features than just the content panes.
Could you let us know what else it is used for? I believe it's used for DAZ Connect, but if there are other uses I would reconsider installing it.
AutoFit uses it, probably Face Transfer, I can't recall what else.
Why Does It Take So Long To Load Figures? ("Solved", with GUIDE)Fast CPU and fast SSD doesn't really help with figure load time related to having a large number of morph files. I'm afraid you can't throw money at it buying faster parts to solve this issue. Your system in general will benefit (e.g faster boot time, application load time, and many operations within different applications in general). However, for the problem at hand for DAZ3D users with a large number of morph files, there's basically no benefit I observed per each extra $ spent for this particular load time problem (and the equally long "deleting objects" time taken when you open a new scene or exiting DAZ Studio after having loaded a Gen 8 figure into the existing scene).
It will need to be optimized elsewhere.
I guess next week we'll know! :D
I'll measure exactly the loading times before and after I install the new hardware.

Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.12.2.60! (*UPDATED*)I do so hope they fix the animation issue with saving morphs. I just wasted a morning rendering an animation that I saved yesterday only to realise that many of the morphs I had animated are now static. Damn, I could scream!
This has been happening in normal non animated scenes for me too, spent a whole day on a few scenes only for it to erase half the day's work, I have an older version of Daz 4.12.0.86 installed on another PC, is there any way to find the original install file and use that on my new PC as a roll back or is it deleted/not available because installation is always through DIM?
If you have it installed on another machine, just copy the folder it's installed to and rename it.
Say it's in C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D on a laptop; copy the "DAZStudio4 Public Build" folder and its contenst for example.
rename it to (for example) "DAZStudio4 Public Build 4.12.1.76"
Paste the folder into "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D" on the machine you want it on.
Note that you are manually messaing with your C Programs directory; you could end up with issues, but I've never encountered any.
Take backups of anything important to you first.
I'd then use Daz's instancing script to generate the code to start that particular executable, presuming it works for your particular version.
"C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/!DAZStudio4 Public Build 4.12.1.76/DAZStudio" -instanceName # -copyAppSettings PublicBuild -copySessionUI "Public Build"
I would recommend saving the script into a .bat file so you can have a shortcut on your desktop. Change a text file (.txt) to .bat. You'll get a warning that you are changing the extension, which you can ignore.
If you don't use that script, you'll need to create a link to that particular folder's Studio executable.
Knowing my luck I'd try this and do major irrepairable damage lol, I'll keep it in mind if I get desperate enough though. For now I've found a work around with the animation, if I save the animation I've made as an aniblock, it keeps the morphs that daz isn't saving as a scene for some reason. A few extra steps but nothing too painful, and then I can also apply the animation to any other model and scene I want in future if I wish.
Could you tell me how to do this because I haven to had any luck. I’m using genesis 3 and I’m not sure it works with them. Every time I try to save a morph through an aniblock, it bugs out the figure rotations and translations. It seems like I’ve tried every combination of settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Why Does It Take So Long To Load Figures? ("Solved", with GUIDE)That's good to know!
How do you switch out your content? Do you add/remove folders via the Content Directory Manager or do you actually move them around on the hard drive?
I think via the Content Directory Manager would be the quickest way
Content Directory Manager does allow you to have multiple directory sets, each with its own database, so if you don't mind have duplicate content installs you can set things up for one-click swapping (well, several clicks to open the dialogue etec but still not many).
It would cost a lot of money to have double the storage!
I was thinking about putting the figures-related folders into a different folder, and to just disable it when I don't need those figures.
But I see little use for that, since 99,99% of my renders have figures.Another way would be to have the majority of the figures in that 2nd folder, and to use it only when I create new custom characters, moving in the other one the needed characters.
But all that micromanaging would probably take even more time, and it's surely more tedious. So I just hope that the bottleneck is my hardware, and things will improve when the new components will arrive.
Or that the next Daz Studio update will address, at least in part, this issue.
Honestly, I've never used things like Strand Hair or Face Transfer, that required a ton of developing time, but I'd surely benefit a reduction in figure loading times.AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?

AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?
Quello è semplicissimo, basta salvare come shaping present, e fare merge, senza riallineare nessun rig.
Devo riguardare questo video, l'ho completamente dimenticato:SereneNight's Sci-Fi Fun Thread 2Adriano's skin is really good. The area around his eyes is weirdly light though. I had to go in and darken it a touch, since it is distracting.
Maybe he wears sun glasses? Or has no allergies, gets enough sleep, and brows that project more than usual over the lower face although that sculpt doesn't show it.
Adriano does look Italian though. He has a noticible whitish pinkish skin colored blob on his mats around his eyes. It looks... Sort of okay in some lights, but when I applied the skin to owen, it looked like white eyeliner. I did not care for the look.
Nope, I've tried his skin on a few of my shapes and his eyes look ok to me. As for his face, it's the one thing I'll be changing - the nose in particular.
Its under the eyes. And it seems rather noticible to me the skin is very pale there, and looks... Odd. Glad you don't notice it. I Do agree about changing the head though. Can't wait to see what you do with him.
I know the look you're talking about as far as it goes on real people because I've seen it but I'm curious as to what's happening with Owen. Maybe the UVs for the eyes somehow are not the correct ones selected and making an eyeliner effect?
I agree about the nose but I didn't want to say anything for upsetting the artist, the nose is wrong though I'm afraid. Dialing in one of Darwin's Mishap's style noses would probably work well. Not to be too discouraging as I have trouble even dialing a believable nose in with a morph pack.

Fatto.

so wait, hold the presses, morphs work by copying them from G3 to G8 data folders? The G3 and G8 mesh are different, so morph deltas for one won't work on the other, what Jepe is talking about is the male genitals, don't have them but it sounds like they are the same mesh, so morph assets can be copied between the two, you will need to do a bit of text editing before they will show up in DS though.
[Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female(Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]I have submitted an update. Hopefully it will be out this week but more likely early next week:
- Added G2-G8 2020 Conversion Method (non-merchant resource method)
- Added ability to specify Material Preset option
- Added ability to detect and load "character" presets
- Replaced Legacy Conversion checkbox with Conversion Method radio group
- Added wHeadMorphPrefix option
- Fixed Ignore Previously Converted option so that it works
- Fixed Head Morphs not being updated
- Fixed conversion to not allow empty VendorName or ProductName
- Fixed conversion to not allow Character Name equal to Female or Male
- Added namespace to all morph safe names
- Fixed bug for Duplicate Formula Found errors (Adjusting Rigging To Shape would add bones to JCMs)
- Fixed bug where JCMs/MCMs were not being set as hidden properties
I guess it's related to the specific version of the plugin... Or you expanded the G3 to G8 version?
I mean I added the same process (algorithm) to G3 to G8, which may be useful to some people. Not that I added G2 compatibility.
Better GenX transfers? I can't wait!

How to fix elf ears in Genesis 8Select the hair and go to the Parameters pane. Click the icon in the upper right corner (4 lines and a triangle) and make sure "Show Hidden Properties" is checked. On the left-hand column drill down through Actor > Head > Ears. There will be grayed out morphs showing the morphs that have been automatically generated. Find the morph for the ears and set it to zero.

Moving my content to a different driveHey guys, in the meantime while waiting for more informed responses that might pertain to your specific situations, take a look at this and it might get you through the process in one of the many ways it can be done...
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/407716/moving-daz-content-off-of-c-drive-in-2020
@DMax The first section is about a mass transfer options in Windows, but I'm pretty sure if you read the other couple sections regarding pointing DAZ and DIM to the location you copy your My DAZ 3D Library to, you'll be good to go. I've done the process 2 more times since posting that trying the performance of an external HDD, which was no good for me at least, @pratiktiki . I ended up replacing the few HDDs still attached to my system with internal SSDs which has made a huge difference after doing the process of copy and point DAZ and DIM again to one of those SSDs...
Daz3d to Blender WorkflowRight, but the last part of Padone's comment above made me think that we could subdivide a DAZ figure, export it, morph it at a higher resolution, and then import the changes back as a morph as long as the subdivision levels matched up. I probably just misunderstood.
