  • Genesis 9 Genitals?

So I noticed that Victoria 9 has maps for bothe male and female genitals, but the doll doesn't seem to come with them... Nor is there a morph to make a guy have a package in his clothing were you to choose a male character, also no hip slection at all  so you can't even make the hips wider...

Is there a way to get the genitalia or no?

That's vertices.  G3F is 17K polys which is what we normally go by.  I already stated what G8F is (there is no G4).

Of course there is G4... It's the shorthand for The Girl 4. And also can be an alias for Generation 4 or 4th Generation in general (V4, M4, &c.). This could have been one of the main reasons -- which was a smart one IMHO -- Daz jumped from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8... Genesis 4 would be confusing since they were already using G4 as a shorthand for The Girl 4. I only think they should have rebaptized the older Genesis to match their Victorias and we don't have all this confusion about Victoria 7 being Genesis 3 and so on...

  • Genesis 9 Coming Soon! Preorder Victoria 9 HD Today

I loaded Victoria 9 on my MacBookPro M1 and after over an hour or so of dressing her, hair, (thank you Esha, OOT), posing, then remember I had to simulate, back tracking, simulating went fast, then I found my favorite HDRI hadn't been installed yet, so went with others, changed, added lights, and finally happy.

Render time: 4 hours, 2 minutes, 92% converged, 7789 interations.

  • Growing Up for Genesis 9 (Commercial)

Was about to request a refund, glad I checked here first! I was having the same problem as everyone else with younger characters having huge breasts. (I'm using vanilla installs of all assets from DazCentral.) The update from google drive fixed it for me! Thanks Zev0!

To get a younger Victoria 9, the two ways I've found are:

    • Load a base Genesis 9, apply the Victoria 9 materials, apply Growing Up dials or presets.
    • Load Victoria 9, dial out Victoria 9 Body, apply Growing Up dials or presets.

The funny part about the new base skins not having the gen textures is that most, if not all of them come from existing core characters that aready had the gen mats. You can recognize who the characters are from their thumbnails (which is also funny because we don't have the morphs to make the character in the thumbnails). All they did was convert those old core mats to G9 UVs, yet for some reason they chose to ignore converting the gen mats!

That is where this gets silly. It is not like they had to make these mats from scratch. They already had them.

On the flip side I wouldn't be concerned over how masculine the base shape may or may not be. It is just the base shape, it is intended to be altered by morphs into something else. If it turns out that people are struggling to sculpt a masculine model on G9, then that would be something to worry about. But I don't think it is. This is like complaining that the starter cube in Blender is too square, LOL.

But it is OK to complain about the navel and nipple being only HD. That doesn't make sense.

yeah i do agree the "core characters where the skins mats come do have "gen" mats then don't make any sense for the g9 default gen don't have it either, they just need to make some extra adjusts maybe, it's really make the work looks "half-assed".

about the "cube stuff" for me the issue here is which the "cube" or what is supposed to looks like a "cube" looks more like a "triangle trying to look like a cube" before i can start to even work on it, that is the issue even as a "base model" it's looks bad and before it can actually start to look more "human" you have to do some "extra work", which in previous genesis you don't have, both male and female actually looked like a "man and woman" with the right proportions where here you have a ugly "non-binary" body with a "large spine" which make me think it is the "elongated man from the HQ or the plastic woman from incredible, the point is which they leave a full uggly base base model which need some "extra work" before it can start to look more "human like".

even the "victoria 9 female character look with some wrong proportions and long/weird spine. if get the "metahuman where they "based genesis 9" the base model proportions look more accurace than genesis 9 so far.

In the latest sale for old Victoria/Michael items, I kept finding things that only list Poser as compatible software. Are these not compatible with DazStudio, and if so, why are they even offered on the Daz store?

There has been some fuss about a Genesis 9 attachment, that shall not be named...

    Why not?

First the geograft was expected to be in the Victoria 9 bundle, but showed up in the product Character Essentials.

That was an assumption, nothing daz said should have caused the expectation - and I would argue that this way is better as the model is more readily available.

When that was solved, there were discussions about corresponding textures for the provided base skins. It was said to be added, but later that Daz had no such plans, as it apparently not was suitable for minors.

There was a not missing from the reply to my qury on this, and i was too dumb to figure that out from the context. Daz was claer, I muddled things up and had to apologise fro that. Of course it did mean that initially that part of Character Essentials was useless without Victoria 9, but that was not going to eb the case in perpetuity.

At some point in time there will emerge third party products to fill that gap.

Is that an entirely felicitous phrase, in the context?

But I thought, that I might be able to refit the UV layout to match the body surface, and with some fiddling around I got a result, and it looked fine to me. For obvious reasons I can't show the result.
But I have attached the refitted UV map, that must be properly placed in a content library.

    Process for use:
    1) Load your G9F and skin material
    2) Attach the geograft
    3) Change the shader of the geograft to SkinPBR (was at least needed for me)
    4) Copy the Body surface to the geograft
    5) Change the UV for the geograft to 'G9_f_gens_body_UV'

For the female it is fairly straight forward to change the UV to match the body texture, for the male not so much, as there is more visible material to be covered. I might try if I can find a way that seems feasible.

Given the names of the maps being loaded, it seems that, for whatever reason, Victoria 9 arm maps aren't being loaded and, instead, one of the maps from the genesis 9 essentials are loaded instead. Try manually swapping those g9femenine maps for Victoria 9's.

The division between left and right are split in the middle so horizontal. I did verify that it is the V9 maps loaded.

  • UVs of Victoria 9 HD and G9

Textures are textures as long as the UV is available on the figure, and all characters for G9 will be based on G9, be it V9, M9 or NoClueWhatItsCalled9; V9 uses the same UVs, which is BaseMultiUDIM.

Even if they have different UVs, they will still work on G9.

G9 is the base character; Victoria 9 is a derivative of G9 and hasn't been a stand-alone figure since V4

G9M definitely has more androgynous features compared to G8M. I attached a quick render and it's quite noticeable in the shoulders and especially the chest area. Even the face looks 'softer' in comparison. I think it's still possible to create very masculine characters from this base, it would just take a bit more extra work on the part of the sculptor.

It looks to me like G8M is more fit and has overall more muscle tone than the G9M shape rather than being particularly more masculine (unless you mean to say that having muscle/fit body is a necessity to be masculine in which case many men fail at that). The G9M definitely has softer features and more pronounced chest area and the face gives vaguely more androgynous vibe to me, so I think can see your point there. For the body shape I'd say it's more a difference between a person with more fat vs person with less fat. Not that I think G9M looks particularly overweight, just soft. Overall the G8M character is more thin because he is proportioned more like a tall athlete.

I have also seen the reverse complaint saying that the G9F basic shape (and even Victoria) is too masculine.

Anyhow. I don't think the base male is meant to be end all and Michael 9 will likely have more traditionally masculine shape. On a positive note it should be easier for content creators to create less fit male characters now. A lot of G8 males on the more, ahem, robust side... had visible abs even with big bellies. I didn't see too many "triangle" or "oval" shaped bodies for G8M that didn't face this issue.

I'm not sure I notice the shoulder thing unless you mean that the G9M shoulders seem to be hanging lower and aren't as defined?

Edit: Is the shoulders thing more because he doesn't have pronounce deltoids (edit2: wrote traps when I meant deltoids)? Unlike in remcovanembden's image.

Yes, but because the body is so bland, you can shape it into anything. Like you said, overweight people, pronounced bellies etc are much easier to create withouth smoothing out every ab there is on the body.
